1001 Albums Summary

Main track good but the rest is a dirge.

Belter

Did not enjoy

Not a patch on later stuff

Pretty good

Reminded me of Bhundu Boys in places.

Meh didn’t float my boat

Bit samey

Ace, what a great album

Total classic, bit raw of course but solid gold.

Bit meh

Raw

Alright but not for me

Good stuff

Classic stuff

Just an amazing piece of work.

Raw but groundbreaking stuff eh

Pleasant enough ambient

Some cracking tunes

Very good, few belters on there for sure

Couple of decent tunes but largely meh

Not their absolute best but still a belter. Kim Gordon and Chuck D, what else would you need

Simply an incredible piece of work. This and ‘Songs About Fucking’ are Steve Albini’s best work I aver. A genuine five-star record; play loud!

Thanks to my mate Shuggy Bauhaus for getting me into good music, starting here. RIP mate!

Not good. Loads of very short songs all sound the same, dull

Glad Tidings a major belter, especially with the Sopranos link, makes that scene even more incredible.

Classic stuff I guess, but pretty MOR

Bit meh rly

Cracking stuff, bought it the week it came out, magical memories

Not for me

Good stuff, remember it coming out!

Bit low energy for me.

An epochal record, a genuine landmark in music. And a cracking listen. I wish I could give six stars.

Top Marks for American girl,obvs

The belters are immense, some of the filler not so great though. Prob 3.5 stars but giving 4

Alright but meh in places

No

Pretty good, reminded me of MF Doom

Good but not as amazing as their earlier work I feel

Classic stuff p

The bangers are great the rest a bit meh

Decent

Seminal stuff

Hard to state how big this was back in the day. Knocked my socks off and still does.

Great tunes, set off by nostalgia of remembering it coming out when I was in primary school ha

A strong sign of what’s to come!

Belter of an album tbf

Excellent

Rubbish!

Couple big hits but bit meh overall tbf

Couple of belters for sure

Incredible stuff, and still fresh after all these years

A bit mid, as the kids say now, hasn’t dated well I’d say

Big hits are big hits!

Needs a five for The Model alone, eh

Quality, but not quite my thing

Couple of great songs

Would give six stars if I could etc etc

Too bluesy prefer later stuff from them

Not for me Serge

Feels dated now?

Not my favourite of theirs but still a classic

Five stars for A Forest on its own tbf.

Showed the potential but later stuff big improvement I think

Kinda fun but not really my thing.

Lightning in a bottle, every song is great and the whole album goes together amazingly. Also a real cultural memento of the times. Amazing stuff.

Funky stuff as you’d expect!

Good memories of this coming out, the big hits are pretty amazing.
