Ive had my Queen phase and heard a lot of their music, but listenin to this at full, top to bottom, it surprised me with some of the lesser known musics being really not what i would call Queeny...? But it was good nevertheless. Nice one. Good pretext to check this out.
Very nice experience, already have listened to this before, nice revisiting
So grimm and dark oooof
Cool concept, but some songs are a bit gimmicky with the melodies, maybe not for me
There are a lot of standouts, just some im on the fence with.
I miss the old kanye.
Ahead of its time.
Timeless.
Lyrics are funny, versatile, deep. Just a really fun listen front to back.
4# even though i own a red hot tshirt for years and been into one of their concerts, i've never made a deep dive into them and heard this album. I just listened to californication and The Getaway at full.
Was always a big fan but not all of the songs captivate me. They have a lot of bangers. What drives me to them is the catchiness of the vocals by Anthony Kiedis, the riffs and the whole feel to it, their carefree sound.
About this album in specific. They rock, but a bit rough. Well, if the year that they made this is in consideration, than yeah, it's a wonderful feat. I can hear Rage against the machine here (Suck My Kiss), but they haven't released their first album yet so i guess they were inspired by this.
6#
not the first time hearing it but good pretext to hear it again.
dreamier than i remembered it to be.
But it didnt amaze me, just some tracks are really good, but also it has nostalgia lingered to it so i dont really know.
7#
nice, the first album that i dont know at all.
Recorded in a single day? ok, interesting.
Post-punk in 1979, when punk wasn't even already established? thats funny.
After a quick search, the punk era started in the beginning of the 70s so im wrong.
Thoughts about it:
me like the sound of thiz, its fun, rebellious but with not much anger
the sound of the drums is gud, but the rest sounds muffled
Got tired of this quickly, the guitars are tiresome with the high pitched notes (I love Modest Mouse, so i'll just say this was not for me), i guess i was not in the mood for it. wont get a second chance though.
If listening to one music its ok

CA BANGERALHO DE ALBUM
this i already heard a whole lot and i love it to the bones.
never dove into the lyrics, i'll try to do that this time (not much of a lyric guy).
10#
Besides kinds of blue (which i really like but i tend not to return to too often), i didn't heard much more from Miles Davis.
The vibe: Cozy winter night at home reading some romance book with 112 pages.

Rucurucurucurucurucrucurucurucurucurucurucuru
If you would let me know in advance that this would be the album for a valentines saturday and i have nothing to do i would've made the precautions and bought a kilogram of weed to trip balls to this.
Never heard of this, i can only compare this with Strawberry fields by the beatles but rougher, or the doors without an audio engineer, or the kinks without catchy tunes. Ok, i can think of some comparisons.
Why is someone always incantating something inside my ear, its not evil, neither is it good, their intentions are ambiguous.
After watching the film Apocalypse Now, this fits really well.
I tripped.. and fell 13th floors.

Prologue: Been a fan of Arcade Fire for a while but when I did know them I wasnt into hearing full albums, so, needless to say, never heard this album front to back, but i think this will be an experience and a good one, i wish.
It was. The themes on this are very current ones today.
"And it seems strange
How we used to wait for letters to arrive
But what's stranger still
Is how something so small can keep you alive
We used to wait
We used to waste hours just walking around
We used to wait
All those wasted lives in the wilderness downtown"
Wasted lives.. maybe that were better ones, calm, without stress and needing of infinite stimulation. People had time to process things, be creative, fill the time with hard things that recompensate after a long period.
The sound of it emanates calmness but at the same time a feeling of dread.

Heard this one before, but its always fun to return.
Starting to feel like one day isn't enough for concept dense albums like The Suburbs from Arcade Fire, i didn't have the time to fully appreciate it, but that speaks on the quality of it.
Fatboy Slim is an acquired taste from my dad, it brings nostalgia to my children days when i used to move like crazy to this music.
I think all of the songs should be shorter because it repeats too much or to the middle end it tries to do something new and it doesn't stick. That's the biggest flaw in here, besides that, I'm constantly bumping my head.
13#
Reminds me a lot of mission of burma. And then i went to hear Mission of Burma and forgot about Magazines.
Magazines rely on weird arpeggios, its interesting and I like the sound of it. Good record for it to be the start of post punk.
I guess I'll just like everything that is going to be thrown here. Noice.
15#
Unpleasant
Stop tuning your instruments and start playing.
Jokes aside, this was really interesting and challenging. Frentic playing from all instruments, the intro starts with everything.
The most punk or metal, jazz has ever sounded. Great.
If they built the chaos up and didn't start bantering everything they got from the beginning of each song, it would be a pleasant experience, but i guess we have it somewhere else and it has a place.

I know a lot about Rod Stewart. Like that his name is Rod Stewart and he is a musician. Oh that's it.
The first one that i found nothing special at all. It's ok blues, I like his raunchy smokey voice.
The free jazz record (Spy vs Spy) from yesterday made a lasting impact that this is kilometers from making.
Would play beautifully on the Turning Point USA show for sure. I dont know the political views of rod stewart but i imagine him being protrump, sry dud
After a quick search he demanded an apology from Trump for something false he said about Nato, soo, yeah the contrary of what i imagined basically.

Prelude: Hmm interesting pull. I I've never seen this as an album but mostly as a single. Let's see if it holds up to the mainstream hit which i love.
Listening:
18#
really like this, it scratches my itch for alternative rock. This is playfull and fun, always doing something different, not repeting too much of the same structure, the songs evolve.
Before hearing i read a lot of reviews saying this looked and is a mid album. I cant agree, maybe its because my roots are alt rock indie rock and this bangs on it
19#
this is full of bangers
20#
ABBA if they we're rockin instead of poppin.
You have an album cover that looks like the most metalcore metal has ever been and then give clapping session in a middle of a song, what?
Um, this is not for me, no no. It's teatrical... feels fake, premeditaded, like too calculated, previsible. Don't throw this kind of rock ballads to me. I like teatrical in projects like Black Midi's Hellfire, i don't have the words to describe what they do right, but they hit it like a needle in my butt, wait what?
And I don't like to be that guy, but the mixing..? flat, i like my drums not that faraway of my ear.
Listening to this at full was hard, geez
21#
Prelistening: ig bruce is going to be bangin his way in a lot more times, cause this ain't his most recognized album by a big margin. I really don't have much of love nor hate for him, for me he has a good voice and yeah that's nice, good for him.
listenin: generic rock. nah its not, this bangs, my expectations were low and we're met on Adam Raised a Cain. The theme of that song hits home, about (if we believe in christian teachings) living and suffering just because of a man that chose to betray God when manipulated. I had this realisation when they were teaching that story and I wept.
well, the rest is between generic rock and entertaining rock. Im in, its a really good record. Not on my bingo card to start liking and listening to Bruce Springsteen on 2026
1001 albums to love or hate by hearing them before you die

DAMN I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I already had a deep dive into this album before, but any excuse to return to it is welcomed.
Starting to realise the wikipedia resume of the albums doesn't help a thing. Not one reference to what the album is about or who is Anohni, which is important to appreciate this album more than just it's extraordinary vocals and instrumentation.
That voice.. is wrecking, in the verge of falling apart from start to end but at the same time so controlled and passionate. I'd say my second favorite singer of all time, doesn't beat Nina Simone.
Such a simple record in terms of instruments (acoustic and string oriented), but it carries so much emotion and has really high levitating moments, like on the end of the opener Hope there's someone.
The pacing is extraordinary too. It never feels too much, gives you time to approach each song with its demanding themes.
Now delving on the theme. What's it like to not feel at peace with your own body and the mental process to change it, I mean, your genre.
I can't begin to imagine the pain of that, but in here it makes me understand a bit of it, in a beautiful open authentic empathic way. Not preachy at all.
I have nostalgia attached to at least on of these songs, because my dad bought a song or two from this and used to play on his playlists. That factor helps to appreciate this even more, it's nice to come back to that place and time.
Next thing I'm going to do is listen to their debut album. Let's see where they come from, to reach this beautiful accomplishment.
23#
Its definitely a rock album from the 80s
rocks? well yeah, not so much though
UUUUUUUUHHH i wanted to give the time to listen to this. So the that time has come.
So they hit you full force with Roundabout and leave you hangin with quirky classical music. I'd hang out with the band integrants, they seem like fun.
And they do it again... and again, quirky interlude after quirky interlude, we have bangers.
25#
I like very much a lot of Belle and Sebastian and I think I've already listened to this. Lets see.
This puts me at peace, such a nice cozy yet demanding of attention experience
26#
Interesting pull, huge fan of David bowie last project Blackstar, but never had that kind of feeling towards another project by him, let's see if this sticks.
Nothing to read, nothing to say, I'm blown away.
Feel good psychedelic rock till the mid part, its up my alley, not in Berlin though.
Warszawa.. IS beautiful.
27#
Damn this is randomly giving me the artists I most love. Jorge Ben Jor is my favorite Brazilian artist. Didn't had the chance to listen to all of his projects, and this is one of them.
My god what an ascending experience.
28#
whimsical fairytale medieval feeling. unfortunately, won't have time to dissolve the poetry she's spittin, but it sounds sweet and very descriptive. That timbre is nice.
i wish i'd listened to his while playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It would've propelled even further the immersion in the medieval age.
29#
Not a single idea to what this will be, the hope real.
This has energy, its clever on its lyrics on the opening track which is the best.
Nothing much to add, didn't really have the time to hear it with much attention. That's the thing with an album a day, some won't have the amount of concentration that is deserved. I like the mood this leaves me in, gives me energy and motivation.
The context about this being a hard rock band formed of black guys is interesting.
30#
Beck has just got the immense style to pull this kinda beats.
It's alt rock with beats? say what. How are you mixing drum beats with rock instrumentation and it sounds this good. and it keeps adding interesting instruments or sounds.
Very nice listen while vacuuming the house.
The production in this is crazy good. Almost every minute I'm hearing a new thing that is really satisfying in the ears, like in the simple track Broken Drums, it could've been just drums and guitar, but no, you're stroke with a whole environment of sounds, wow. There's always something far away happening.
The final tracks aren't as powerful as the beginning and middle.
Just a thought: Beck has a similar voice to the vocalist from Eels, love them both.
Highlights: E-Pro; Girl; Black Tambourine; Broken Drum
Skips: Hell Yes; Rental Car

Wow, now the band that invented music (/s)
The Beatles must have a kink for playinf things just for one ear.
I'm young. I never listened to Tina Turner's songs besides the most commercial ones. Expected this to feel like the 80s and it does, feels old, but Tina's performance is grappin and the synths are kinda cool.
Full on energetic from top to bottom.
Funny that i listened to this for the first time two weeks ago.
What made me do it was, i really love some songs from Wilco and wanted to know them better. Dont think this is a good way to be presented to them
#34
i must've already stumbled upon The Temptations, cause im a big fan of funk, blues soul from the 70s, but i really dont remember a single song from them. Let's see if this makes a lasting impression.
Another band that likes to mess with the stereo directions of the instruments. This made me think i had some problem with my headphones.
It's full of finesse, sexyness (if thats a thing, im illiterate), love inducing.
Very positive experience, the thing is that it's mostly similar to all the funk coming out at the time aside from Papa Was a Rolling Stone, but it's good nevertheless.
35#
I just know two songs from Dusty Springfield, Spooky and Son of a Preacherman and i really like those tracks
Solid record, her voice is sweet and soothing but nothing that's remarkable really has place.
I like the recent remastered version, well produced, but please someone explain WHY is everyone so in love with putting instruments just on one side of my head.

ShabaraparadmAHH-
Soo, I find the lyrics kind of annoying and preachy, although I agree with the message.
I was actually surprised by the sound of it. Ignorance from my side, but I didn't know at all that Janets work we're so acclaimed, but now I know and understand why. This has energy funkiness and artistry. Some 80s sounding, but with a lot of experimental elements, so it doesn't really sound dated.
That little scream in almost all of the songs is funny, that high pitched Aah-
I don't need more interludes, thanks. At least they're off of the actual songs.
The Lonely track is beautifully produced, with that flute on the back, wow.
37#
reaction: damn. might be my favorite album of like um all time? maybe.
review: hits like a mother when her son just finished painting what he thinks is his magnum opus on the bedroom wall with a pink plasticine. (this isn't necessarily based on true facts)
38#
Love ray charles, this doesn't have his greatest hits, i guess i would prefer other compilation, but this is great for the year
as chill as you can chill to be chilly with chilliness.
40#
I wanted to like this but it was not hitting and the boom bap beats when i was listening with a headache were not good for them. I'll have to listen another time.
