1001 Albums Summary

Felt pretty samey all the way through. Kate Bush duet dragged on too long.

Wouldn't It Be Nice is good. The rest is pretty decent, not bad at least

Not a fan of Stevie Wonder

The gimmick of making it a call in Radio was kind of cool but the songs were a bit repetitive at times.

Nothing special, but I liked it fine

Pretty standard surf rock

I don't really remember anything that was on that album

My 2nd favourite 2016 cryptic death album by a critically acclaimed artist

Obviously have heard the hits before. Not much substance asides from them, but decent album

Worst album I've had yet, although I'm yet to get any of the real bad ones. It just keeps dragging on. Do not listen to this if you're not doing something else at the same time.

Not really notable? It was alright.

Pretty good, musical album. Vocals were unnessecary, the rest of the musicians were quite good.

I mean it was alright I don't think I needed to listen to it before I died

The album was exactly what I expected it to be like, for better or for worse.

Bad reviews scared me but it ended up being surprisingly good. Vocalist wasn't that bad either!

If you thought the rest of the album was bad, just wait until you get to the 16 minutes long final track with no variation in it's contents. Also just because it's supposed to be an environmental soundscape doesn't mean I'll like every track echoing constantly.

Enjoyable songs. Starts and ends strong, middle gets a bit slow. No real earworms, but I liked it.

It was pretty strange at times, but not entirely unwelcome.

Some of it was good, some of it was unremarkable. Probably wouldn't listen to it again, but I enjoyed it.

Didn't understand anything about what he was saying, but it sounded good

It was fun. Hotel started slow but ended up being my favourite.

Brass in my pocket I've heard Rest is fine

I don't know what you want from me man, it's Neil Young. Everything sounded like Heart of Gold

It sounded good and all, but 22 songs is a LOT of song to listen to on a weeknight.

Nothing special really. Didn't need to listen before I died, but didn't find it boring.

Yeah, Elvis is pretty good I'd say. Was on a bad run of albums but this one was good.

Was good. Could have used more Garfunkel.

Gotta admit, I didn't really get the buzz around White Rabbit. Seemed kind of dull.

Pretty boring. Music was not good enough to overcome not understanding lyrics.

Long and noisy

Noisy.

It was okay. Felt a bit gimmicky.

It was fine. Kind of disappointing, I don't love Plant's voice.

It's very good, but somehow overrated anyways, because this is NOT the best album ever made. Still quite good though.

Long, too noisy, and not noisy enough.

It was kind of noisy. Sounded alright, but lot of screaming and I had a headache.

Unmemorable.

Lot of riffs.

I don't love the echoey stuff they do with their voice.

Fine.

People who don't know how to sing trying to sing over generic rock.

It's energetic, it's upbeat, every song brings up the man's car. It's good.

Everything was so similar...

Not good, but I appreciate the experimentation.

I spent the entire album waiting for a song to actually start.

Only song that I appreciate spelling in.

Didn't sound oppressively like Neil Young, which is good, considering it was a Neil Young album

Good music ruined by a godawful vocalist

Horribly whiny singer

A bit generic, but listenable.

Very energetic, but not that much substance.

Phenomenal way to open an album. Great start, keeps the momentum all the way through. Gets a bit dull at the end? But still a great album. Glad I listened to it.

It was very noisy, but strangely calming

It advertised being ambient and I really didn't hear anything from it. Like, no memories of this.

Funky. Can't believe this is the guy who did Closing Time.

Carried by Bohemian Rhapsody, but that's not a bad thing

Personally, I don't think Live Albums should be on this list, but this one sounded nice.

Drivel

Yeah It was alright Synth noises were a bit much

Don't care for french, don't care for rap, don't care for french rap

Needed to put it down halfway through because it was so annoying, I hate his stupid voice.

It was... fine? Nothing special, but not-not enjoyable

Overly synthed up and boring

Voice like a random drunkard, music is good

It's just a flawless album Being driven by piano instead of guitar is nice as well

Sounded good, but would it kill him to show a little emotion?

Just a perfect album

Oh my god it's so dull There's no substance here The only thing this album is destroying is my good day

It was alright

+1 star from the anti-censorship thing at the end

Didn't want to give this a 5 but it was really quite good

Noisy, but strangely compelling

Felt like music that plays in the back of a restaurant while you're waiting for takeout

Our House is a good track, the rest is listenable

2nd Sitar album of the week. Strangely informational music.

It was so alive. First 5 star on a live album.

It was good, I just don't mesh with his voice

Was pretty alright.

I can hear his hips gyrating

Watered Down Beatles with bad recording quality

Kind of emotionless

It was alright. There's better Indie Folk.

As it turns out, the brink of insanity sounds like worse Bob Dylan

Moondance is longer and less good than I remember it. Used to love that song

Inoffensive but useless country pop. Ahead of it's time for shallow country pop I guess.

I hate that man's stupid whiny voice.

Sounding like generic movie soundtrack

Nothing special, nothing bad

Unmemorable and disinteresting.

Solid, catchy synthpop album

Lively, but not much variety

It's all very noisy.

Awful vocalist.

Album cover was nice, music was fine.

The first one was boring drivel. This one is too.

Good, but not really my thing. Also Kanye is a Nazi.

Lyrics were a piece of work, music was fine.

Interesting, sounded nice.

Annoying synthpop

Making this a double album was inexcusable, it was bad enough that they got a whole album with only bittersweet symphony.

No, it's not high art. No, it won't have an impact on the future of music. And no, it DOESN'T MATTER. This album has people turning their noses up at it all the time, because of the lack of depth, but it ultimately is a foolish complaint. This album has really brought out the opposite of the music industry: the indie music snobs who are opposed to anything that seems like "pop" music. But at the end of the day, none of the complaints about depth matter, because it has the ultimate success in music. It is music that sounds good. It's very catchy, and it all sounds good. 5/5.

It's pretty good, catchy, familiar songs.

It's fine. Overrated. His voice is really annoying and the songs are kind of nothingburgers.

RIP Dolly Parton

I didn't expect to like this album, but the 1001 Albums project has slowly got me to realize I do quite enjoy Dylan's music.

If Monster from the Muppets recorded an album, it would be this one.

Oh, screw Sting and his miserable whiny voice. Why do we need to listen to these morons before we die? Is this supposed to be what kills me? Insufferable. Please, someone kick them off this list. 3/10

I mean, what do you want me to say? It's Rubber Soul!

Rather overrated covers and album. The covers don't seem to add much to the original songs, and they all kind of meld together by the end.

Some of the coolest solos of all time presented in a charmingly stripped down way. What's not to like?

I hate sting and his stupid whiny voice, they should have never picked up instruments, useless band.

What does it mean to be cool? The stereotypical cool is a very masculine ideal, with sunglasses and muscles and walking away from explosions or into sunsets. But wait. That's not Television, and Television is cool. Look at Tom Verlaine. He's scrawny, almost painfully so. You can almost see his skull through his skin. He plays guitar. He sings about being in love, but his love is with statues. He shouldn't be cool. But Television is cool. Television is a really cool band, and Marquee Moon IS Television. They're weirdos, but they're obviously cool. They're prototypical of a new kind of cool, stylish in their own right, while still being weird, nerdy, bony, freaks with a weird, nerdy, bony, freak sound, and a weird, nerdy, bony, freaky frontman. 4.5/5
