I rarely listen to full Bowie albums, and I don't think I'll return to this one any time soon
Could use this as background music but not really my vibe. At one point it peaked my interest and I realized spotify had switched to Mingus Big Band on autoplay
I thought I'd be ok with this, but midway I started wishing for it to end sooner.
Day 4. I remember I recieved a Beastie Boys cd at some point in my life, listened through it twice and lost it somewhere. For the second time of this challenge the thing autoplayed after the album was more enjoyable than the album itself (Digable planets)
Thriller to Human nature is 5/5, the switch from The girl is mine to Thriller is jarring.
I've been slightly aware of the specials, mostly by "ghost town" being in one of my frequent playlists. Didn't know they were a ska band. This was fun
Punk isn't really my genre and despite me liking the songs individually the album overstays its welcome.
Probably a weak 5/5 until Revolution 9. The highs are high
It's an album I return to every now and then but never really think about or recommend to anyone. There's plenty of energy and I could probably listen to it again just for the drums.
This iseems to be bridging the gap between rock I like and indie(?) rock which I ignore For some reason most of it just doesn't connect. "5-4=Unity" and "Hit the plane down" stood out for me, the rest sort of blended together.
Nothing here gets to the heights of "the weight", and probably not something I'll ever return to as a full album.
By far the standouts for me were "Jawbone" and "King Harvest", and maybe "Rockin' chair" as a distant third.

Cat Stevens is just all around good vibes unless you happen to have written ”the satanic verses”. ”Wild world” is great, but maybe I shouldn’t listen to the lyrics too intently

I personally don't mind the over the top misogynistic and aggressive lyrics, I've listened to worse. However the album feels monotonous and boring, and it's hard to take ice cube seriously after seeing the later parts of his career.
I didn't expect to like this so much. Only ever heard american pie before this one, and I found myself singing along to it at home. "Vincent" and "Empty chairs" stood out for me. I felt the need to look up the background of "Everybody loves me, baby" since it felt a bit too close to home in these Trumpy times.

I was excited to see the temptations, but the album is a bit of a dud outside of "Papa was a rolling stone". Luckily the song is a third of the album.

This released when I was in my early teens, music was widely available if you sailed the seven seas and I was both in a sort of musical discovery mode of my life and in a period when I listened to a lot of hiphop. This album was always mentioned as a future classic, and I'm sure I listened to it at some point and just never returned to it.
One thought that came to mind is that my favorite song by Common is 2,5 minutes long, and Common doesn't enter into it until a minute in. This album is twice as long as it needs to be and most songs should be two minutes shorter. It's unfortunate, because there's a good record in here, it just needed less common
I think The Smiths have always been one of those bands that in theory I should like, but it just never clicked. I appreciate how dark the lyrics can be, but once Morrissey sings them they just don't connect
I thought this was going to be something new, but my spotify algoritm has put "cool in the pool" into rotation before. All songs have very different vibes so I'm not sure what mood I'd be in to return to this
Slightly panicked when I saw almost four hour runtime, and annoyed to realize that spotify likes to only make deluxe versions available.
It's a bit cozy but boring, "Juxtapozed with U" has some promise but ruined by vocals. There's something about british rock around this period which just doesn't click for me.
Not at all something I'd listen to, think I put in forty minutes but tapped out.

It’s been around 20 years since someone told me to listen to this album, and I’m still coming back to it regularly.
I bought this on vinyl to have something my girlfriend would tolerate, and then I ended up listening to it over and over again.
Better than I expected at first but at some point I looked at how much was remaining and was dismayed at how much was left.
A bit frontloaded, much too long. "Brother" stood out in a positive way.
There's plenty of songs here that could fit in well in a playlist, but I don't know what mood I'd have to be in to want to listen to this back to back, even excluding the rap song. I guess my issue is I have heard some of these songs in playlists before and I never bothered to learn the name of the band despite that.
I used to own some green day cds and have some sense of nostalgia for them, but this is just neutered pop punk. I listened to Nimrod after this one, and was reminded this band used to be better. Also their songs used to be like 3 minutes long
A name I'm familiar with but don't know if I'd be able to tell you he's the guy who sung Sledgehammer. There's something that catches my attention in "We do what we're told" and "This is the picture", but then spotify autopalyed talking heads and I listened to that instead.

Every time I listen to this album I'm thinking "Why don't I listen to this more often?", then I get to the second half of the album and I just don't care for it.
I like Tom Waits but this is not an album I've ever returned to, if I've even ever listened to the full thing before. Listening to it in this format atleast gives me some appreciation for what they're aiming to do, and maybe if I were to sit in that studio I would have appreciated it more, but I can think of more than five of his albums I'd rather listen to.
Apparently a rather quick recording, and clean process too. The entire concept reminds me of when Bengt Sändh got funding to record an album of Swedish drinking songs, set up in a bar and as the album progresses the entire crew got more and more intoxicated.
By the third song I was waiting for this to end and felt relief when I heard instruments, because I knew the album was over.
It's Steely Dan, I like Steely Dan. But it's also an album I don't ever really seek out, except for being in the mood to hear Boddhisattva or King of the world.

I remember stumbling upon Neil Young's Zuma (which is not included, despite seven whole album's by Young on this list) after going through my first proper teenage breakup, and it will forever have a place in my heart. Right album, right time.
I don't know if I'll ever have a right time for this album, I hope I won't. But even if I did, I have a feeling "The needle and the damage done" is what I'd seek out anyway

Didn’t expect to like this. I was familiar with the album itself and the part that appears in the exorcist, but didn’t expect it to be somewhat of a journey.
I also enjoy finding samples in the wild, in this case a segment from part 1 which was sampled in an eyedea song
I know this is the iconic one, but I heard the two following albums first and fell in love with that version of the velvet underground. This is fine, but a bit boring at times.
"Heroin", "I'm waiting for the man" and "European son" and "sunday morning" stand out, but not among my favorites songs by the band. The Nico songs drag it down for me though. At the end of it I listened through "White light / White heat" and realized that'll likely make my "You like more than most" list at some point.
I remember playing hitster and being completely lost on any modern popular music, but the one time "The wanderer" started playing my girlfriend was in disbelief that I would know the artist name of something so old.

Rush always shows up as something similar to what I usually listen to, and every now and then I listen through one of their albums and then don't return to it for quite a while. This is a bit weaker than moving pictures to me, and there's nothing here that I'm likely to want to return to.
It also doesn't help when the spotify algorithm decides to play "when the levee break" right after

If it weren't for Stereolab my indie category might be competing with punk at the bottom. I'm not sure I gave this a decent chance as I kept getting interupted by work, but on my attempted second go I quickly realized I'd rather listen to something else
This was my album the day after Dolly died, and it irks me that I didn't enjoy it.
I don't exactly know what I want when I listen to country, I feel like I'm either looking for something like "I'm the only hell my moma ever raised" or something more devastating than anything found on this album, like "he stopped loving her today". This is all a bit too low energy and milquetoast

An hour into the two hour extended version spotify has and this could go on forever. High energy and exactly what I needed today, the day after a pretty sappy country album.

There's two halfway decent songs and one awful, rest is forgettable. Atleast they had the good sense to clock in slightly below half an hour
More than the sum of its parts, but some of those parts are rough. Was considering a four on first listen as I liked it more than anticipated, but on second listen I realize I will never return to this.

I almost made this the first album I didn’t listen all the way through, it does sound more like conventional songs after the third track but I did have to force myself to listen through this
Every morning my girlfriend wakes up before me, goes into the kitchen and finds a "Morning chill cozy coffee jazz" playlist to play on her iPad. I don't mind these as long as they're background noise, but this gave me the same the same vibe. Although this is better than those AI playlists, I wouldn't want to actively listen to it.
