Heroes by David Bowie
Jul 03 2026

I rarely listen to full Bowie albums, and I don't think I'll return to this one any time soon

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Jul 04 2026

Could use this as background music but not really my vibe. At one point it peaked my interest and I realized spotify had switched to Mingus Big Band on autoplay

The Bends by Radiohead
Jul 04 2026

I thought I'd be ok with this, but midway I started wishing for it to end sooner.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jul 06 2026

Day 4. I remember I recieved a Beastie Boys cd at some point in my life, listened through it twice and lost it somewhere. For the second time of this challenge the thing autoplayed after the album was more enjoyable than the album itself (Digable planets)

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jul 07 2026

Thriller to Human nature is 5/5, the switch from The girl is mine to Thriller is jarring.

The Specials by The Specials
Jul 08 2026

I've been slightly aware of the specials, mostly by "ghost town" being in one of my frequent playlists. Didn't know they were a ska band. This was fun

Jul 09 2026

Punk isn't really my genre and despite me liking the songs individually the album overstays its welcome.

The White Album by Beatles
Jul 10 2026

Probably a weak 5/5 until Revolution 9. The highs are high

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 12 2026

It's an album I return to every now and then but never really think about or recommend to anyone. There's plenty of energy and I could probably listen to it again just for the drums.

Jul 13 2026

This iseems to be bridging the gap between rock I like and indie(?) rock which I ignore For some reason most of it just doesn't connect. "5-4=Unity" and "Hit the plane down" stood out for me, the rest sort of blended together.

The Band by The Band
Jul 15 2026

Nothing here gets to the heights of "the weight", and probably not something I'll ever return to as a full album. By far the standouts for me were "Jawbone" and "King Harvest", and maybe "Rockin' chair" as a distant third.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Jul 16 2026

If I hadn’t heard YYZ before I’d probably give this a five just by that alone

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Jul 17 2026

Cat Stevens is just all around good vibes unless you happen to have written ”the satanic verses”. ”Wild world” is great, but maybe I shouldn’t listen to the lyrics too intently

#1 Record by Big Star
Jul 19 2026

There’s so much good rock from the 70s and this is just fine

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jul 21 2026

This is very sappy and uninspiring. I never understood the fascination with Elvis and I feel like people rarely talk about his music and only about his persona

Jul 22 2026

The four time Nickelodeon Kid's choice award nominee used to be very very angry I personally don't mind the over the top misogynistic and aggressive lyrics, I've listened to worse. However the album feels monotonous and boring, and it's hard to take ice cube seriously after seeing the later parts of his career.

American Pie by Don McLean
Jul 23 2026

I didn't expect to like this so much. Only ever heard american pie before this one, and I found myself singing along to it at home. "Vincent" and "Empty chairs" stood out for me. I felt the need to look up the background of "Everybody loves me, baby" since it felt a bit too close to home in these Trumpy times.

Jul 24 2026

I listened to this yesterday, I can't remember any of it now and if in a week you were to ask me about their name I'll tell you it was something about futons

All Directions by The Temptations
Jul 25 2026

I was excited to see the temptations, but the album is a bit of a dud outside of "Papa was a rolling stone". Luckily the song is a third of the album.

Teenage Head by Flamin' Groovies
Jul 26 2026

Wore out its welcome somewhere around ”scratch my back”. A bit too long for what it is

Jul 27 2026

This released when I was in my early teens, music was widely available if you sailed the seven seas and I was both in a sort of musical discovery mode of my life and in a period when I listened to a lot of hiphop. This album was always mentioned as a future classic, and I'm sure I listened to it at some point and just never returned to it. One thought that came to mind is that my favorite song by Common is 2,5 minutes long, and Common doesn't enter into it until a minute in. This album is twice as long as it needs to be and most songs should be two minutes shorter. It's unfortunate, because there's a good record in here, it just needed less common

Jul 28 2026

I think The Smiths have always been one of those bands that in theory I should like, but it just never clicked. I appreciate how dark the lyrics can be, but once Morrissey sings them they just don't connect

Movies by Holger Czukay
Jul 29 2026

I thought this was going to be something new, but my spotify algoritm has put "cool in the pool" into rotation before. All songs have very different vibes so I'm not sure what mood I'd be in to return to this

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Jul 30 2026

Slightly panicked when I saw almost four hour runtime, and annoyed to realize that spotify likes to only make deluxe versions available. It's a bit cozy but boring, "Juxtapozed with U" has some promise but ruined by vocals. There's something about british rock around this period which just doesn't click for me.

New Forms by Roni Size
Jul 31 2026

Not at all something I'd listen to, think I put in forty minutes but tapped out.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Aug 01 2026

I’ve seen this listed as an album with no skippable songs, which seems crazy to me. Next time I listen to it I’ll tap out after ”As”

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Aug 02 2026

It’s been around 20 years since someone told me to listen to this album, and I’m still coming back to it regularly.

Diamond Life by Sade
Aug 04 2026

I bought this on vinyl to have something my girlfriend would tolerate, and then I ended up listening to it over and over again.

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Aug 05 2026

Better than I expected at first but at some point I looked at how much was remaining and was dismayed at how much was left. A bit frontloaded, much too long. "Brother" stood out in a positive way.

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Aug 06 2026

There's plenty of songs here that could fit in well in a playlist, but I don't know what mood I'd have to be in to want to listen to this back to back, even excluding the rap song. I guess my issue is I have heard some of these songs in playlists before and I never bothered to learn the name of the band despite that.

American Idiot by Green Day
Aug 07 2026

I used to own some green day cds and have some sense of nostalgia for them, but this is just neutered pop punk. I listened to Nimrod after this one, and was reminded this band used to be better. Also their songs used to be like 3 minutes long

So by Peter Gabriel
Aug 08 2026

A name I'm familiar with but don't know if I'd be able to tell you he's the guy who sung Sledgehammer. There's something that catches my attention in "We do what we're told" and "This is the picture", but then spotify autopalyed talking heads and I listened to that instead.

Aug 09 2026

Noise rock with song titles which sound like Harlan Ellison stories? Lets add another 4 to my "You love more than most"

Doolittle by Pixies
Aug 11 2026

Every time I listen to this album I'm thinking "Why don't I listen to this more often?", then I get to the second half of the album and I just don't care for it.

Aug 12 2026

I like Tom Waits but this is not an album I've ever returned to, if I've even ever listened to the full thing before. Listening to it in this format atleast gives me some appreciation for what they're aiming to do, and maybe if I were to sit in that studio I would have appreciated it more, but I can think of more than five of his albums I'd rather listen to. Apparently a rather quick recording, and clean process too. The entire concept reminds me of when Bengt Sändh got funding to record an album of Swedish drinking songs, set up in a bar and as the album progresses the entire crew got more and more intoxicated.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Aug 13 2026

By the third song I was waiting for this to end and felt relief when I heard instruments, because I knew the album was over.

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Aug 14 2026

It's Steely Dan, I like Steely Dan. But it's also an album I don't ever really seek out, except for being in the mood to hear Boddhisattva or King of the world.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Aug 15 2026

During "Pyramids" I accidently switched to listening to another album

Aug 16 2026

If only someone had told me to pay no attention to these guys. Their four minute songs felt like 7 minutes but somehow their 7 minute song was fine

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Aug 17 2026

I remember stumbling upon Neil Young's Zuma (which is not included, despite seven whole album's by Young on this list) after going through my first proper teenage breakup, and it will forever have a place in my heart. Right album, right time. I don't know if I'll ever have a right time for this album, I hope I won't. But even if I did, I have a feeling "The needle and the damage done" is what I'd seek out anyway

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Aug 18 2026

If I go into a bar and they're playing reggae it's a good vibe, but I have no interest in intently listening to it
