1001 Albums Summary

An album I haven't listened to in a very long time. It's fun and brings back a lot of good memories. Not something I'd keep in heavy rotation these days, but it was a blast from my past.

Not heard this one in decades. The hits get played everywhere, so it was nice to reconnect with songs like Misty Mountain Hop, Four Sticks and When the Levee Breaks.

I've heard of the band, but this was my first time listening to this album. There's great musicianship and singing, but I'm not into slow Ballad's for long stretches. Some okay covers.

It's solid, though it does make me want to listen to Doves. I'm not so keen on the slower songs, but In Rainbows has my fave Radiohead tune with Jigsaw Falling Into Place

A front loaded album. After the first two tracks it all sounds a bit samey. Never been a Michael Jackson fan.

I remembered the three hits, Bittersweet Symphony, The Drugs Don't Work and Lucky Man, but none of the album really stands out. The Verve were never really a big deal for me. I remember buying this album for the singles and being disappointed that the rest didn't deliver. It's also too long.

Not close to my wheelhouse. There's good stuff in this album and what Miriam does takes skill, but its just not for me.

I like this album more whenever there aren't vocals. The vocals sound like the kind of thing you'd hear at a school assembly as lame white people try to rap about how bad drugs are or that we shouldn't have sex. Once that thought entered my mind I found it hard to take this album seriously.

This is wonderful. Fun and energetic.

Creates a great vibe. While I prefer a Kind Of Blue, this was a great listen.

Boring shrill and not my thing. It's like what if the most annoying vegan you ever met at a party, also brought a guitar.

It never really feels like any of the songs start. The Whole album feels like an intro to another better album.

Tiny Dancer is the only hit on the album, but don't let that dissuade you. Its a really good record and I found myself listening to it a bunch of times. Really loved the title track.

This sounds like generic Blues music. Nothing really stands out. It's really white.

I really liked I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain, but nothing else really stood out.

This feels ahead of its time. But not just ahead a few years, but a few decades. This album is wonderful.

An unlistenable mess. Where Is My Mind is the only good thing on the album and I liked it less in context with the rest of it. Fucken terrible. I'm surprised by how much I didn't like this.

It's fine. There are some nice musical moments and great singing. It's a good background dinner album, but it's not my thing.

It's a great album, from start to finish. It's better to listen to as a whole. It's a fantastic classic and not even their best.

Never heard of this album, I wish I had. It's wonderful. I'll be listening to Pink Moon for years.

A man who had gems on Beatles records releases a triple album of gems. An embarrassment of riches here. Wonderful.

It's a good solid Sonic Youth Album. Shadow of a Doubt is like something out of a Lynch movie.

Surely Clapton has better albums? Generic rock and blues without soul. Not an album to go to, to witness some of the best guitar playing ever. Chalk this up as a surprise that this is an influential record.

OK Computer is a great album, but one of those from my teen years that I haven't gone back to much as an adult. Electioneering will be back in the rotation a while though. There's Radiohead I like a lot more.

I don't engage with the lyrics of a lot of this like I used to, but the music is fucken gnarly. I tend to relisten to albums after this one.

I've listened to a few soulless blues albums on this list. So it was fucking cool as hell to get this. Great music and a great vibe.

I liked the Led Zeppelin-y tracks. The straight up blues ones not so much. Still, there are some fantastic songs and moments on this album.

This album is wonderfully Queen and wonderfully versatile. A classic and a good time

What if Iggy Pop & Lou Reed made a shitty generic 90s album together.

It was good. Got me dancing.

A personal fave ever since my young mind saw The Time Is Now. Horses is a fucking classic from start to finish and I adore it.

Dance music for Dags.

What if Doves or the Flaming Lips we're boring. This is the kinda shit they play in tv/film to stir schmaltzy emotions sans heart or testicles. Soulless.

Not really my genre, but this was still a fun listen. Solid.

This album has some classics on it an as a whole its a great time. A bit too long though.

A band I've heard of, but never heard. Aqualung was a great listen and I'll be digging into some of their other albums. I liked the interesting mix of prog rock, rock, hard rock and folk. Not bad for 1971.

This is a good album Jack White made. He's made way better though. Still there are some catchy tunes and the album holds together from start to end.

I was surprised with how okay this album is.

I just don't like the Pixies. After Sub Rosa, Teenager of the Year and this shit, I still don't like the Pixies. Their music is a cacophony of sounds that does not mesh.

I went from this is okay, but too long and soft. Then by the end ELO had won me over. Really nice sounding album.

I do appreciate that this is album 69 for me. Marvin's singing is great, I like some of the tunes too which isn't bad since I'm not a big soul fan.

Loved this album in my early 20's. Does it hold up? Yeah it fucking does. A concept album that has a wonderful ending. I love a grand don't come for free.

Really solid album that sometimes feels ahead of its time. Lots of fun.
