Popular Reviews

Raw Power by The Stooges

Really, really fucking good! Dirty, scuzzy, filthy rock n roll! Love it! Short, sharp and at times brutal! Like being given a high five. But in the face. And with a brick. Iggy’s vocals are brilliant, the riffs are great! What’s not to like! TURN IT UP!!!!

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren

Starts off well, tails in the middle and never really recovers. I loved the harmonies and some of the first tunes, but very quickly it became so anonymous...every song a repetitive dirge of the previous. 25 songs too...you taking the piss? Least Oasis crammed 11 and a half into their 90+ minute album!

Doolittle by Pixies

Another good album, am I gonna rush out to buy it? No. Will it eventually make its way into my collection? Possibly. But nothing wrong with it, just not my absolute cup of tea.

Maxinquaye by Tricky

I was looking forward to this one, I’ve a mate who raves about it. Sadly, it’s just ok. I enjoyed parts and others seemed to just stretch into the agony and ecstasy of the sweet embrace of death. Maybe I’ll listen again and give it another try but at the moment it’s a solid 3.

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces

Really enjoyed this one! Definitely on the ‘to buy’ list now! Love a bit of psychedelic rock! Mad for it!

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
May 06 2021

Can not find this album anywhere! Three star rating as an average.

May 07 2021

I’m a lover of hip hop/rap and really like some of the NWA stuff. Enjoy the west coast and G-Funk that Dre brought to the mix but this was barely listenable! Loud, overly aggressive and didn’t feel like the album had any sort of direction to it. Put it off about half way through. Disappointed to be honest.

Call of the Valley by Shivkumar Sharma
May 12 2021

Right up my street! Ambient, chilled, relaxing! The musicality is second to none! Will be purchased following this listen! Pro tip - The LOUDER, the BETTER! Tremendous!

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
May 13 2021

Starts off well, tails in the middle and never really recovers. I loved the harmonies and some of the first tunes, but very quickly it became so anonymous...every song a repetitive dirge of the previous. 25 songs too...you taking the piss? Least Oasis crammed 11 and a half into their 90+ minute album!

Teenager Of The Year by Frank Black
May 14 2021

Another album that doesn’t ping my buttons, some ‘good’ tunes but another one that isn’t gonna have me running around to buy. Bang average.

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
May 17 2021

Really enjoyed this one! Definitely on the ‘to buy’ list now! Love a bit of psychedelic rock! Mad for it!

May 18 2021

Tremendously good album! Widely regarded as a classic and rightly so. I love it, there are a couple of tunes on it that are skippable, so 4 out of 5 for me. I’ve had this album for years though, so that may affect the rating too.

Doolittle by Pixies
May 19 2021

Another good album, am I gonna rush out to buy it? No. Will it eventually make its way into my collection? Possibly. But nothing wrong with it, just not my absolute cup of tea.

Odelay by Beck
May 20 2021

This one has its moments. Nothing more than that though. Definitely not the classic I’ve been led to believe but then I never really dug Beck anyway? So 3 stars it is.

Synchronicity by The Police
May 21 2021

Not for me at all. Can see why some might like it.

May 24 2021

This is a surprisingly good album! Plenty of good guests and features too, none more so than Monster which is a certified banger. A Chris Rock ‘skit’ let’s it down to the point where it’s 3 stars not 4 just because it’s so unnecessary.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
May 25 2021

Great album! Cannot believe it’s 20 years old! Whole album is a banger, nothing you’d skip as part of the experience! Definitely one for vinyl too I reckon!

Jun 02 2021

Didn’t listen to it. No interest in Simple Minds whatsoever. 3 stars as an average.

Garbage by Garbage
Jun 03 2021

Enjoyable but not brilliant! Really good music and Shirley Manson pipes are just incredible! Am I gonna buy it? No. Would I turn it off if it came on randomly? No. 3 stars.

Greetings From L.A. by Tim Buckley
Jun 04 2021

This was great! Really enjoyed it, funky bluesy bar rock! VINYL purchase coming up! Cracking album!

American Idiot by Green Day
Jun 07 2021

Ball buster of an album! Absolutely BRILLIANT

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jun 08 2021

Really enjoyed it surprisingly. Not big on reggae but this could be a future purchase! Thoroughly enjoyable album! Who knew I’d like it!

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jun 09 2021

Not too bad, not great either though. Passable background album at best, certainly not one I’ll rush back to.

The Bends by Radiohead
Jun 10 2021

Absolute CLASSIC. Not a bad song on this album! Usual highlights but Fake Plastic Trees and Street Spirit are two of the greatest songs ever written! Absolutely love this album! ON THE VINYL LIST!!!!

Jun 11 2021

Really enjoyable album, you need to be in the right mood for it though. Definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea at all. Some absolute BANGERS on this one though!

Play by Moby
Jun 12 2021

Very, very good! I forgot just how good actually!

Jun 13 2021

Not they’re best album, but not bad. I enjoyed it, but then I quite like The Smiths. Wouldn’t be upset if this ended up in my collection.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jun 14 2021

Couldn’t finish it. Absolute tripe.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 15 2021

Really not my cup of tea at all. I just can’t get into the Peppers. Can see why people do like it, but just ain’t for me.

The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
Jun 16 2021

This was a bit of a surprise to me, actually quite enjoyable! Eclectic mix of music from guitar stuff to slightly dancey kind of tunes! Won’t be for everyone, but definitely worth a listen! I’ll probably get this for the collection

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Jun 17 2021

Bang average. Nothing great, nothing truly shite either.

Purple Rain by Prince
Jun 18 2021

This was ok, already got it in my collection but might convince me to dig it out more often!

White Light by Gene Clark
Jun 19 2021

I really enjoyed this. For A Spanish Guitar was a particular favourite! The remastered edition on Apple Music went on a bit long, but overall it was enjoyable and may find its way in the collection eventually!

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
Jun 20 2021

Really enjoyed this! Proper surprised me, Donovan is someone I’ve never even gone near! But I enjoyed this and will be buying it! Don’t think it would be for everyone though, and hard to call it a classic. However, I’m gonna roll hard and drop a 4!

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Jun 21 2021

Average album, not one I’ll return to I don’t think. Very punky sort of stuff without really doing anything for me!

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Jun 23 2021

Another one I really enjoyed, but then, I like Morrisey. Lots of people don’t so it isn’t going to be for everyone! Worth a listen though, even if you’re not a fan. Kind of album I’d recommend to someone to start with Morrisey!

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jun 24 2021

Not for me; couple of cracking tunes but the rest is a dirge I’m afraid. Will almost certainly never listen to again.

Jun 25 2021

Literally awful. Not a single redeeming feature about this absolutely shit album. 💯 % stonewall gash

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Jun 26 2021

One of those albums that people say you “have to own!” It’s possibly the worst Zeppelin stuff you could start on. Kashmir is a banger but there’s fuck all else here. A band that had given up by this point.

Jun 27 2021

Absolutely atrocious. Everything you hate about country music all wrapped into one. Will physically avoid ever having to listen to this again. Strong word coming…fucking shit.

Third by Portishead
Jun 28 2021

This was great! Love it, defo on the list! Chilled out ambient trip hop! Gibbons voice is amazing as always!

Wild Gift by X
Jun 29 2021

Generic punky rock album. Three minute songs, not a lot to them to be honest. Won’t be missed that I’ll never listen to it again.

Jun 30 2021

This was bloody good! Really enjoyed it, couple of duffers on it though which stops 4 stars. However, throughly worth a listen by all!

Jul 01 2021

Definitely won’t be for everyone. Can get very ‘samey’ but I can see how some people would love it! Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Probably not going to return to it anytime soon, but I also wouldn’t be furious if someone wanted to listen to some Pantera now so y’know…there’s that!

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 02 2021

Impeccable. Nothing else to say. It is perfect in every way. Absolutely sublime record from start to finish. A fucking masterpiece.

Raw Power by The Stooges
Jul 03 2021

Really, really fucking good! Dirty, scuzzy, filthy rock n roll! Love it! Short, sharp and at times brutal! Like being given a high five. But in the face. And with a brick. Iggy’s vocals are brilliant, the riffs are great! What’s not to like! TURN IT UP!!!!

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Jul 04 2021

Another pretty good album, will definitely return to this. Very nice, quiet, harmonised vibrant songs.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jul 05 2021

This was really, really, really good! Her voice is just amazing, the songs are all good and there’s some absolute belters in there too that I didn’t even know was Dusty! Absolutely tremendous album and will definitely be purchased in the future! Loved it!

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Jul 06 2021

Now, this was surprisingly great! I can’t go into all details as it confuses me a bit just listening to it…but it is tremendous! Album full of highlights! Not gonna lie either, when this showed up on my generator there was a part of me that was like “fuck sake, sounds shit, looks shit, what the fuck” but as always, gave it a bash and it’s outstanding! Highly recommended and another one that will be purchased!

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jul 07 2021

Now you’re TALKING! Tremendous album! Proper bluesy rock! Just what you want when someone says “wanna listen to some Zeppelin?”

Vivid by Living Colour
Jul 08 2021

One good tune does not a good album make! Opening track Cult of Personality is a certified nosebleeder! Rest of the album is certified meh. Disappointed in all honesty.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Jul 09 2021

Hmmmmm…I like The Smiths and I like Morrisey but this album just passed me by….one great tune does not an album maketh! Poor compared to what I was expecting. But as with all music, one mans milk is another mans poison. Don’t start on this if you’re like “hmmmmm Smiths and Morrisey” 3 stars.

xx by The xx
Jul 10 2021

Listen, it’s a good album. Is it great? No. It’s ok. And that’s it! Perfectly pleasant chilled out sort of trip hop stuff. But fuck me, it gets samey. By track 4 you know you’ve heard the lot. Still, it’s ok.

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Jul 11 2021

Whole album passed me by. It’s an acquired taste maybe? Not my thing at all but I’m sure there’s some folk would buzz off it. Two stars for me though. Never likely to ever want to return to it.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Jul 15 2021

It’s Michael Jackson! I was pumped to hear it! (Despite the feelings I have towards the little dirty that he is) but boy was I let down! How this is called a classic is way above my pay grade?!? Absolute tosh. 2 stars and I’m being generous because I’ve had one too many tennents tonight and I might have a baby on the way. Otherwise I’d literally be eyeballing the 1 star. I get how people dig it, but he definitely got better after this. This album is shit.

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jul 16 2021

It’s Tubular Bells innit! Absolute classic! Starts well, middle is good, finishes brilliantly! Who DOESNT love the bells baby! I’m biased as my dad was heavy for this, but it is a banger!

The Slider by T. Rex
Jul 17 2021

Meh. Was really looking forward to this. It’s ok. Can’t really say much else to be honest!

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Jul 18 2021

Nah, not having it. Was looking forward to Steve Earle. Saw a bit of it kicking around in my old boys collection. Country though isn’t it. Absolute tosh. Track 4 and it was off. Nothing special and nothing that was going to make me change my mind about how SHIT this kind of ‘good ol’ boy’ music it is.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jul 19 2021

This was an instant no on first listen! I was appalled at how much I disliked it. Gave it another bash and I’m going to tell you, this is a pretty good album! Poppy, synth tunes! Done well! I wouldn’t be first in line at the shop, or for tickets but this was a genuine surprise on second listening! Does it count as mood music? Haha! Not shit, not great either but I can totally see how people love it!

London Calling by The Clash
Jul 29 2021

Phenomenal. From start to finish, not a bad track! First time listen too!

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Jul 30 2021

Tremendous album! Really enjoyed this! Chilled out, funky, soulful. It’s beautiful. The boy has pipes! Loved it! On the list to be bought!

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jul 31 2021

Great hip hop album. The start is better than the end! Won’t be for everyone and there are thousands of hip hop albums better than this! But it is pretty bloody good!

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Aug 01 2021

Is this brave? Or stupid? Can’t decide. It’s like the weirdest pub band I can imagine! French industrial synth rock? Who the fuck knew! I’ll come back to it a few times before deciding for sure but at the moment it’s a solid 3. Some will adore this, many will loathe it!

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Aug 02 2021

Reggae again, enjoyable again but I’ll stick with Marley as it’s not my keenest genre. Some cracking tunes on this though, the lyrics are heavy but the music is light. It’s really cool.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Aug 14 2021

I’m not the biggest Stones fan in the world…but this is FUCKING good man! I may just find myself investing more time in them! Great album, funky, bluesy, sexy rock!

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Aug 15 2021

Now, this! Was, ok ish. I guess! Not jaw dropping, not shit. Certainly not something I’d ever turn down again and I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up buying it. Bloody enjoyable without blowing any baws off y’know?

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 17 2021

Not my thing at all. I honestly do get why people love them but not for me.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Aug 18 2021

So a very famous man (a guy I knew only as ‘This is Anfield’) once told me that you have to GET Bobby D. I’ve listened to Highway 61 and the Best Of to try to GET Bobby D and I was like “well nah”. Listened to this and I WISH someone had given me this as an intro to Dylan! Brilliant album, great music, great lyrics and his voice isn’t so nasally you start thinking of midges in your lug! Brilliant! Have I finally GOT Bobby D? Time will tell, but this is a great place to start! Loved it!

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Aug 21 2021

I was looking forward to this one, I’ve a mate who raves about it. Sadly, it’s just ok. I enjoyed parts and others seemed to just stretch into the agony and ecstasy of the sweet embrace of death. Maybe I’ll listen again and give it another try but at the moment it’s a solid 3.

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Aug 22 2021

Loved this! Well outside the sort of thing I would have searched for and that’s why I love this generator! Really cool, laid back chilled tunes! Definitely to be bought! I’ll recommend to everyone and they’ll get even sicker of me than normal but it’s only fair! Tremendous album!

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 23 2021

I’m not the best guy to give you a rating for this. Because I FUCKING LOVE Nick Cave and the Seeds baby! 4 stars all day long and I’m taking one star off because I know some of you will listen and think “the fuck is this!”

The Doors by The Doors
Aug 24 2021

Classic. Untouchable.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Aug 25 2021

This was actually pretty good! Like, really good! I was fully prepared to loathe it but yet, I enjoyed it. The singer has this gutteral voice that is just perfect for the licks and hits the album gives you! It’s really not going to be for everyone though, but hey ho! I thought it was pretty fucking cool!

Illmatic by Nas
Sep 27 2021

Stonewall CLASSIC hip hop album. Legendary album.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Sep 28 2021

It’s jazz innit. That’s all. Not my thing.

Bummed by Happy Mondays
Sep 29 2021

An average album if ever there was one. Ok.

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Sep 30 2021

Again, this is an album I was intrigued to hear but was dissatisfied by the whole thing. There’s just nothing in it for me.

Achtung Baby by U2
Oct 01 2021

Just cannot dig U2. Gave up after three tracks. I know people love them, but I just…don’t.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Dec 25 2021

Now this was pretty cool! Not quite sexy enough to bring me to my good lady with ideas of sweet, sweet loving though. Something about the word buttered, just makes me feel soiled.

Alien Lanes by Guided By Voices
Dec 27 2021

Awful. No further words.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Dec 28 2021

It’s a Kinks album! What’s not to like!

Picture Book by Simply Red
Dec 29 2021

Simply Red? More like Simply Fuck Off. Absolute cuntbag of an album. Dogshit.

Beautiful Freak by Eels
Jan 25 2022

It was pretty good, I think I would need to listen to it another time. His voice was raspy and unconfident, but that is kinda his style from what i am getting at from some of his other songs. I liked Novocaine for the Soul, My beloved Monster, and Man Child

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Jan 27 2022

Some bangers here, Elvis was back in 60. Man was slanging dick tho.

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Jan 29 2022

Perfectly acceptable record. Nothing more, nothing less. Wouldn’t ever switch it off, but would I actively seek it out to listen to? Not so sure! 3 stars it is!

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 30 2022

Bit disappointed with this, was looking forward to some Ray! Mind you, I only know him from the tour de force that is The Blues Brothers so maybe my sights were aimed too high. Shame really.

Suede by Suede
Jan 31 2022

Really fucking good

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Feb 03 2022

Love the Manics. But this won’t be for everyone!

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Feb 04 2022

Synth dream pop! Don’t mind if I do! Some nice stuff on here for sure!

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Feb 05 2022

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Proper loves this!

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Feb 06 2022

Not sure I found the right album, but enjoyed the weird melodic tones anyway!

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Feb 08 2022

Classic. Stonewall classic full of hip hop nosebleeders. Love it!

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Feb 09 2022

This started really well! Dramatically tails off though as it’s all a little bit too samey! By the end you’re glad it’s done, despite a fun enough cover of Bowie’s Suffragette City. Glad to finish it and wouldn’t rush back.

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band
Feb 10 2022

Not sure about this at all. Not quite awful but pretty fucking close. Mad as a bag of fridges.

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Feb 11 2022

Eccentric. Definitely not for everyone. Very strange indeed, but kind of enjoyable…tread with caution though!

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Feb 12 2022

I know there was a lot of hype about this one when it was released but it’s just not for me, nothing there that made me think “what a tune” so two stars for me.

Berlin by Lou Reed
Feb 13 2022

This was really good! Added to the list of purchases! Love this generator for bringing me stuff I’d never have actively sought out prior! Really good album!

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Feb 14 2022

Not a lot to either like or dislike about this. Totally safe. More fun to be had with a cardboard box. Average as they come this stuff.

Vespertine by Björk
Feb 15 2022

Now this was pretty cool! Icelandic chilled trip hop beats! Beautiful silky vocals and again, something I would never have listened to without this! Not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but well worth a listen!

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Feb 16 2022

Absolutely not.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 17 2022

This was awesome! Love a bit of the Boss and although not his usual rocking self, the slower more melodic side is as appreciated! Really enjoyed it!

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Feb 19 2022

Hello, I’m Johnny Cash. Iconic. Absolutely brilliant album!

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Feb 21 2022

Wow. How mediocre was this. Really can’t believe the hype around these guys. Dirge after dirge. Save yourself the hassle.

Abraxas by Santana
Feb 22 2022

Pretty good! Nothing that blew me away or had me salivating with excitement, but wouldn’t turn it off if it came on. Not high praise but suitable for the music I think. Reckon you’d only manage one Santana album before you’d be sick of it though…

Truth by Jeff Beck
Feb 24 2022

Generic 60/70’s rock mate. That’s it. If you like it you’ll like it, if not you won’t. Can’t be any clearer.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Feb 25 2022
Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Feb 27 2022

Awesome album! I love this thing for making me appreciate the Stones! Would’ve skipped them in the past!

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Feb 28 2022

Meh. Not for me.

Repeater by Fugazi
Mar 03 2022

This is another one that can be totally taken or left. It’ll rock some peoples worlds and others will be left suffering the despair of the boredom wank rather than listen to it…make of that what you will.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Mar 05 2022

Brilliant album.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Mar 07 2022
Pearl by Janis Joplin
Mar 08 2022
