The Good, The Bad & The Queen
The Good, The Bad & The QueenI don't like Blur. I don't like Gorillaz. I certainly don't like this boring junk. No Damon Alburn for me, thank you.
I don't like Blur. I don't like Gorillaz. I certainly don't like this boring junk. No Damon Alburn for me, thank you.
Fairly harsh sound. I like some of the songs but nothing is really an 'earworm'. I can definitely see how this music influenced sounds of the 90s and alt-rock in general.
Float-y kinda music. Not really for me.
Kinda a cool concept but it mostly makes me want to listen to the original Metallica records.
The rainy intro is pretty cool... relaxing and funky. I really do like the texture in this. Quite atmospheric. Some parts make me think of Daft Punk.
It's aight. Pretty generic classic rock. Would rather just listen to their studio albums. Not even really a lot of band energy, or crowd energy. Energy ramps up closer to the end, nice drum solo on "Sha-La-La". If the whole album was like the last 3 tracks it'd be legendary!
I haven't even listened yet and will say I straight up don't like bruce springsteen. He music strikes me as boring and try-hard to be dramatic. I like some of his songs but generally I don't like his deep cuts. That said, I will give this album a shot anyways. "Badlands" is a strong opener. "Adam Raised A Cain" is a cool bluesy number. "Something In The Night" is kinda a snooze. Now at "Racing in the Street"... snoozefest. I think Springsteen is kinda like Bob Dylan. Often he comes off to me as more of a folk artist. His songs are about the lyrics more often than the sound in my opinion. Yeah my opinion hasn't changed, some good songs, a lot of boring folk-esque music.
I like the bubbly bass. I didn't finish this all the way because I ran out of time but it wasn't bad. Slightly too floaty for me.
Straight up classic. Though if I remember the second half kinda loses momentum. Will happily listen again. Intro song is fantasmic. Yes it does drop off but still a great album.
Buncha cheesy 90s dance music.
Some wild abstract stuff. Feels like an experiment to take audio snippets from speeches and turn them into music, or even just a sonic environment. This shit be whack! It's an interesting soundscape but not something I would come back to.
Lou has a really dry songwriting style. He comes off sarcastic most of the time. Walk on the Wild Side is quite beautiful. Other than that song this record doesn't do anything for me.
I've heard this plently of times. Great old school blues. This album gives a lot of insight into how life was back then.
Lots O smooth funk. I finally learned where the Beastie Boy's "Eggman" sample is from! This record is aight, not really my style.
I like the funky beats. Ice Cube always has a great delivery, it's commanding.
Whoa this is like funky jazz. I think this was probably an influence on Talking Heads' music. Low and behold - Talking Heads are referenced in Fela's Spotify description. Interesting music - I don't think i'd listen again but I can see it's influences.
Blues classic. Love this record. Wish I could play slide guitar like Duane Allman.
Another of my beloved classics. It's such a fun and funky record. I love all the doofy skits.
Not a bad album but didn't really strike me. I'd give it another listen.
Classic. My dad's first album. I love Deep Purple, hard to go wrong with their music. The unique thing about Deep Purple is the amount of keyboard/organ they used.
Immediately reject album title. I do like the stereo mixing, the bass/drums in the left and vocals/strings in the right. Other than that, this is old-school country through and through, it's not my thing.
Come on.
Cohen's voice is... the deepest growl I have ever heard. Deeper than Johnny Cash. Lots of piano-centric music. I feel like his throat must hurt singing like this? Or he smoked like 10 packs of cigs? I can't finish this, the singing is just too rough.
It's ok so far. Something about the singer's voice annoys me. Feels uninspired, like recycled classic rock. Not much I really enjoyed here.
Intro guitar solo is pretty good. Kinda odd for a funk album. "Can You Get To That" is sampled pretty heavily on the Sleigh Bells hit "Ring Ring". I enjoyed "Super Stupid". This album was a good middle ground for me. I think it has potential to grow on me.
Already a favorite. Very relaxing "sit on the porch" kinda vibe.
I've tried to listen to this in the past and it doesn't stick much. I like Stevie Wonder singles but his deeper cuts don't do much for me.
I thought this album was going to be a lot scarier than it actually is LOL. This is basically Metallica. I like it so far. Makes me think of a slightly more metal-ish Black Flag. It's got that punk sloppiness.
Not a bad chill album. I'll probably come back to this when i'm feeling like listening to relaxing music.
Straight up classic. I actually haven't listened to this much but it's good. I think I still like Screaming for Vengence better but this is a close second. Red, White, and Blue is pretty cringy.
Definitely interesting music. Reverb-drenched.
This sorta sounds like Lorde. It's very minimalist and sparse.
I could see this album growing on me. I liked it more this listen than previous listens. It has a whimsical feel to it.
Lots of yelling 80s women. Pretty whacky avant-gard stuff.
It's not bad but man it's a long album with not a lot of variation. Not my favorite.
Not as good as Nevermind but still great. Guitar riffs are still in full force and they are CATCHY. Lots more screaming from Kurt on here, which I don't like as much. Strong #2 album for Nirvana.
Love jazz rap and the Tribe were the best at it. Catchy groovy beats.
Ugh. Bruce. Can't wait for some boring mid-tempo storytelling. I really don't know why bruce bores me so but he just does. This sucks hard, sorry. Couldn't finish it.
I can tell i'm in for some prog rock.
As expected, very folkish music, which is not my thing. I don't find much at all of this album to be catchy/memorable. I will say that on a second listen it grew on me a little bit. I enjoy the whistles and happy-go-lucky sort of attitude.
It's Miles Davis. Not really any surprises here. It's good.
It's like the original Fiona Apple. Pretty ahead of her time.
Definitely odd singing. Very lax. Second song is groovy. But the rest is horribly boring. I couldn't finish it.
Fun n funky. I'd probably enjoy more listens.
I've tried to like this album but I just don't. It's a slow burner that never gets me too excited. Overrated in my opinion.
Folk/acoustic. It's aight. Some boring crooning. Kinda sounds like the guy from alt-j. It mostly sucks.
Dig the groove on intro song. It's a semi-airy album and I like that. They remind me of a chiller Sofi-Tukker. This album is a bit more dramatic than some of their other work. I think this suggestion has turned me on to the band in general, so that's nice.
I had this CD when I was in High School. Was a big Nirvana nerd back then and while I find it hard to find a mood where I want to listen to Nirvana, I still love them. This album is fantastic, the covers are the standout pieces. Lake of Fire might be my favorite, tied with "Where Did You Sleep Last Night".
Pfft. One of the greatest ever recorded. 50 stars out of 5. Don't even play.
From what I recall the first half is pretty strong but the second half loses momentum. There's some songs i've listened to for a long time and the title track is excellent.
I think this came after the Sex Pistol's debut and it sounds a lot like it. I enjoy it so far (2 songs in). It's fairly catchy punk that sounds a bit more modern than The Ramones. I didn't finish it but I would listen to it again.
Interesting pick. I think a lot of people probably think this kind of music is cheesy but I dig it. I love me some dance music. However, as is usually the case with dance music, this gets repetitive and old fairly quickly. That bassline in "Groove Is in the Heart" is to DIE for. Hmm idk I may be ready to take back what I said about repetition. The beat on "Who Was That?" is pretty cool too.
Easily Rush's best album. I don't even like Rush that much but this album is fantastic.
My favorite Radiohead album. The most diverse yet catchy and also soul-crushing work they ever had. Oh, and also it melds into OK Computer perfectly if you order each song from each album one-for-one? Yeah, nuts. These guys are geniuses.
It's not boring but not totally captivating either. Definitely fits the title of "Dream Pop". I like the driving energy of "10 Mile Stereo". I didn't finish this album but only because I got distracted. I wouldn't mind revisiting it.
One of my favorites. I love the mix of instrumentals and hip hop, such a diverse and interesting record.
5 stars. End of story.
This is a goofy-ass album. I kinda like it.
Sounds like a bad rip-off of 90s Radiohead. Also music to fall asleep to. Real snoozefest.
ye
2 songs in, this is pretty good. Hair rock with saxophone?? yes PLEASE. Started getting a little boring near the end but this wasn't bad.
Classic. Duh.
Idk if it's a classic but pretty damn good.
Funky new-wave. I like it.
Yep I love this one.
No shit.
I can sort of see the appeal but some tracks were a little to out there for me.
I enjoyed this a good (kim) deal. I could see myself getting into it on repeat listens. I think at this stage of their career they were really encompassing the entire grunge sound that was about to explode.
First off, I am not a big fan of the Who. I find a lot of their work pretty boring as Pete Townsend was not much for guitar solos or really anything other than chords. This album does not sway my opinion. I'm sure it was grand for it's time. Now it's just a lot of jangly, directionless guitars with an occasional hook from Roger Daltry. I could not make it through "Underture", so boring. I don't think this rock "opera" would even be much more interesting if it was actually performed on broadway. The premise of the tale of a dumb, deaf, and blind boy's life is just not interesting, at least to me.
I definitely an not a dead head, but this record surprised me. The first song is a slow burner and not a great lead song IMO. I enjoyed the next 2 songs much more. The blues on "Death Don't Have No Mercy" was pretty good. "Feedback" should have been a 1 minute experiment at best. Not the best way to close a record.
I don't like Blur. I don't like Gorillaz. I certainly don't like this boring junk. No Damon Alburn for me, thank you.
I don't hate it, but it's a little too folky for me.
I think this is the first time i've really listened to this sort of music and I did enjoy it quite a bit. Maybe it's just because i'm entering summer here and it fits the mood but I will likely give it another listen.
It's pretty good, however, as with most solo albums, it just makes me want to listen to a Pixies album. Plus, it is pretty long and doesn't have enough variation to keep it interesting.
Groovy and catchy as ever.
I really want to love this album. I consider myself at least an amateur jazz enthusiast, I enjoy Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker. My first album that got me into jazz at all was the Charlie Brown Christmas album (Vince Garauldi Trio!). For the life of me I cannot seem to enjoy this that much. There are no snappy hooks that pull me in. I have listened to this album probably 8 or 10 times in my lifetime. Oh well, maybe someday. :)
