Steve McQueen
Prefab SproutMix of pop-like softer rock music initially like the Goodbye Lucille track was enjoyable... then tracks like Blueberry Pie that felt more like someone on open mic night...

Such a great way to actually hear the lyrics when they go talking about songs and simpler relaxed playing.
'Sad Song' the best track.
'Traveler' didn't feel like it belonged on the track! But it was a nice break from the rest of the hard rock album.
Who could forget Blitzkrieg Bop?? :) The rest of the album was just ok.
Some good country-style pieces but being slightly different, folksy in some songs like 'Amy'.
Somehow still never appealed to me, David Bowie. R&B I normally like, but this is something slightly different.
'People Everyday' sounds like a later a commercial jingle adapted from it. Alt hip hop.. eh, can't get into it.
Classics with a mix of live audience... different, but still good listening.
Just.. strange. Not for me on ballads on murder...
Strange, not really something I enjoyed.
Simon & Garfunkel together were better.. this was ok, relaxing generally.
Wild is the Wind is the only track I sort of was ok with on this.. haven't been much of a Bowie fan over the years and this album's mix of alt and rock and pop didn't change that for me.
Jazzy, bluesy, and pop all sort of thrown into one... I liked this more than initially expected after listening to it a few times.
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure I would like thrash rock, but the background drum and guitar kept me into listening in the tracks far more than the singing...
While I like country, there was nothing in the tracks here that made me enjoy the songs like a Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash did...
I guess if you liked this bluesy rock, then the songs are interesting, but felt like to me that they were all so similar.
First few songs were something folksy, and then "It was a pleasure then..." went far off that... I do like the simpler backdrops to Eulogy.
Rock, punk and pop all in one... Jimi's best.
one my parents all-time favorite songs to start in Scarborough Fair / heard it all the time when growing up
Stand and Orange Crush I'd heard before and enjoyed, didn't realize they were from this album. The last untitled track was also enjoyable. Nice trip back down memory lane.
The Big Country was enjoyable, but the rest didn't have the same feeling.
hip, enjoyable music
A little stretched on the singing for a folk song singer.. felt like I was listening more to his voice stretch than the story behind each song.
Doo Wop - man, I remember this coming out just before I went to college.
Sugar Kane and Dirty weren't bad. The rest didn't follow.
Hard to Handle a classic. Could I've Been So Blind was the one I enjoyed the most. Good mix of music and singing, didn't feel overwhelmed like some rock.
Rap that I can actually hear a story and it doesn't sound like others.
It surprised me there are a couple tracks there of commentary instead of singing. Still, not much that attracted me in the songs here.
Reminds me of a bunch of the Fzero tracks...
mostly mix of disinterested instrumentals. Alaska Street was the only one I really liked.
Running up the Hill is a classic.... almost didn't recognize it immediately. Other pieces didn't recognize or enjoy as much other than the Jig of Life.
A comfortable country/folk feeling, I liked it mostly (Drink up and be somebody was probably the least enjoyable).
lots of guitar and drums and then you get Changes... pretty big change but I actually liked that one the best!
lyrics, beat and a great tempo - enjoyable; dated? sure, but it was groundbreaking back in the day
not a lot of variation in the first 8 songs on the list...
while I like Big Yellow Taxi better, River is the most interesting track for me here on the folk album, otherwise ok
Dream Letter ok - the rest of the folk songs didn't really align well with me
while I'm a fan of the later work (Drive), this was just a so-so album for me
not bad, smooth and easy listening which was nice and calming to listen to throughout
Darkness was the best track, the rest were ok.
disjointed at times, not smooth like I'd expected of blues.
Not sure what that experimental Weeping Wall was towards the end... first six songs or so were all similar to me.
Mass production just sounded weird in the middle... not sure what they were trying to do?
drumming great, vocals sounded more like whining to me much of the songs...
was interesting initially and the storytelling was good, but further into the album and really felt it didn't change up much on the stories and became less interesting to me
classic
smoother than the Blue album
Like the bluesy guitar rock instrumental parts, but the singing was not as great.
not my flavor
Really liked 'Oh My Sweet Carolina' and 'Sweet Little Gal' with the piano. Relaxing album.
Sofa was boring, Time to Go reminded me a bit of the Beatles and Oasis. Overall not as interesting as either.
Take a Bow, Map, Soldier's Poem, Knights I liked.. Glorious was ok for the guitar work towards the end and the rest were so-so.
hey hey hey hey... a bit hyper and other songs felt repetitive. Remote Control was the only one that I liked.
def more enjoyable than the Rid of Me album
I like country rock, though this was a mix of some interesting and some less for me...
Peace Dog wasn't so peaceful!
Passion and joy while singing, love half the tracks, the others are good, too! Definitely an identifiable sound when he screams "ahh" and "oo" across songs.
Wish "A Reflection" was longer! Mix of good tracks and ones like "Three" where I wasn't so interested.
light and easy listening
folksy... not as entertaining as the S&G songs
Brings back memories of the songs my parents were listening to on the radio - folk songs with great stories!
Some good drum/guitar sections but weird echoing in the lyrics sung didn't really fit well, unlike Creedence Clearwater Revival, for instance.
Little Shadow by far the best track on it.
Always enjoyed this album
a little more harsh than Foo for me...
Long Black Veil was my favorite of this album.
Aimless folksy? I didn't enjoy it.
listened to the BBC concert version... lovely voice and relaxed listen
angsty memories there!
I remember listening to these songs when a kid and my parents tuned in on the radio! Particularly loved Can't Help Falling in Love with You as a kid.
Reason To Believe was my favorite, sang it as a karaoke song before, on this list of songs, from a while ago.
not inspired by this progressive rock style
A few were ok, smooth jazz but then other tracks weren't nearly that enjoyable (there was one "modern" version with Kendrick Lamar which was a particularly jarring transition from the other tracks I listened to
Easy listening beach music.
Depressing album.
Enjoy Questlove and the team!
Not his best album, my favorite is still "Fever" on this one.
A lighter album than the name would give credit to. Not relaxing, though.
Steady bass in the background, almost reminded me of the Oceans Eleven track periodically just not as enjoyable for me
Listen and I'm a Man tracks weren't great, but I did like Poem 58, Intro, Beginnings tracks. Rest were so-so.
Ballet for a Rainy Day was the only track I really liked, smoother and reminded me of something for a Sesame Street track.
Wake Up and Make Love with Me with Sinéad O'Connor had me hoping, but the rest of the album I didn't enjoy.
Really liked Song of A Baker. A mix of folksy and British-y accents in almost a commercial (particularly the last HappyDaysToyTown)
Reminded me of the scene in Blade where they're in a dance club and he's walking through... fun dance music but was a bit of a surprise, never heard of them before! Narayan was probably the track I liked best, could've fit right into the prep for Matrix...
Taaaaaaaaaakke onnnnnnn meeeeeeee! Love that song :D The rest of the album wasn't as catchy, but not bad for listening in the background.
Really enjoyable listening, reminded me of a slightly less rich version of Sarah McLachlan.
classic rock!
I saw Vega-Tables and was thinking about options... and then it went into health food. -sigh- :P
several tracks were a favorite in college; not every song as enjoyable but good memories.
psychedelic isn't interesting for me
Enjoyed this album, relaxing songs.
Nice and relaxing music, nice!
almost a twinge of Elvis in Love All of Me... but definitely not my taste
While the accordion and mix of a jig in the background, reminds me of the Weird Al songs, but with a lot more swearing instead of fun lyrics.
Tarpit, In a Jar, both ok -- the rest not my taste. Poledo was, in particular, disinteresting.
The buzzing sound on the track of "Life" was annoying. Gone was probably the best track.
Solid Air was smooth., Over the Hill was a nice almost country twang at the start to the guitar, and then a little more folksy. The last few tracks diverged a bit. (Devil Got My Woman, etc.)
I'd listened to Bittersweet Symphony many times. Relaxed listening style of album.
not my style, but do appreciate the trivia around using Ebow in Sin in My Heart...
Wow, Hurt.. I remember this well. Background song to so many funerals and farewells in life. Love the stories in the song.
Liked the animation on the Rip Video and the rest of the tracks were a bit of folk, rock, and some kind of trippy synthesizer and electric instruments that were disinteresting, disconnected.
I remember so many of these tracks! Enjoyable back to history.
Interesting accent flavor but the track with no words (Tides?) sounded like standard hotel lounge music - smooth and relaxing with waves. Serpent was... crazy.
Stupid Girl I've heard before, just didn't realize it was Garbage! Interesting alt rock pieces.
I know it was critically acclaimed, but definitely didn't enjoy the tracks as much as her earlier work.
California music - relaxing and yet, not as well-known as their hits from earlier, it was ok as easy listening goes but probably not something I'll pick up again.
Oh, man these bring back memories, I remember hearing these on the radio and hearing the stories in the songs on the long drives when growing up on the classic country station.
I realize I have zero interest in experimental rock...
While most tracks I didn't like (that alt/experimental rock feel again), the track "Snuff" was less experimental and more modern rock which was more enjoyable.
I remember how I first heard this album in Asia, they were quite excited over it back in the day... I liked PSB's "Rent" and "It's a Sin" but never quite clicked with much of the other tracks.
Smooth hiphop, enjoyable
'Start' almost felt like a Kenny G album piece. 'Family Snapshot' sounds more like an easy listening ballad. Then other pieces just strange mix of styles. Melt probably is a better label for the album.
'More than a Feeling' is a classic. The rest of the album is a nice reminder of 70s rock.
Solid folk songs, while I liked the Teaser and the Fire Cat album better, this wasn't bad.
Nuthin but a G Thang - so many classics! The rest of the album wasn't as good as this track, but still a lot of West Coast rap figures!
Weird electronica... mix of voices and random sounds.
Disco and dance! Fun tracks 'A Different Feeling' and weird video for Frontier Psychiatrist but love that scratching...!
Their synth pop grew on me as I listened to "Stay" and "Easter Parade", the rest were ok.
Always interesting to hear rock interpreted from different cultures and perspectives, definitely would not have listened to this otherwise! Sad that this is just a remnant of a much larger civilization's musical history. A good groove - mix of Afro and rock and blues almost.
'Battered Old Bird' was a good listen. Rest of the album didn't really bring out much for me.
Like others - recognized 'Smoke on the Water' but I'm not much a hard rock guy.
No joke, the album name sort of matches with almost a death rock feel (albeit not as harsh) - not a fan of industrial rock!
Rather enjoyable indie rock... almost languid album that peaked with Catch the Sun and the reprise had a strange reverb like sound at the end... maybe just the version I listened to?
Mix of pop-like softer rock music initially like the Goodbye Lucille track was enjoyable... then tracks like Blueberry Pie that felt more like someone on open mic night...
I do enjoy country-style rock better in this album better than their original classic rock style
No idea they were the "Walk of Life" artists! Rest of the album was good, too, enjoyable easy listening and liked 'Brothers in Arms', too.
Again, another group that I knew the song but not the artist! 'Tainted Love' was a staple on the radio when growing up - fun stuff. The rest of the synth-pop less interesting, but Tainted Love made it 3 stars.
'Self Esteem' the highlight on this album.
Music I'd think of with John Wick or Matrix... a lot of synth and electro/house styling.
Listening was thinking it was a different period from 1997 when it was released... was ok, 'Green' and 'Orange' ended up being the two best tracks in my opinion.
