1001 Albums Summary

Chill waiting room music. Very laid back. I'm assuming Spanish? But some inflections sound different. UPDATE: It's bossa nova and she's based in Brazil. So Portuguese. Makes sense. Mixed English phrases in there as well. Very relaxing and good for background work music.

So far it's decently mid across both days. Can't say I was too impressed with this album. Maybe it just hasn't aged well over the last 50 years but it wasn't hitting.

Some big band afrobeat. Not bad, but still feels like background music.

BUNS HOLY SHIT

What a palate cleanser after 5 straight days of 0 vocals. A classic.

Concert albums aren’t really my thing but otherwise a solid album.

Repetitive Elvis knockoff sound. Tough hour to get through.

Some okay background noise, but every song going around 7 minutes each makes sure that they all overstay their welcome.

The 12 minute opener really lowered my expectations for the rest of the album, so when Relax came on, I was pleasantly surprised.

I still think Lazaretto is the better Jack White album and I’ll die on that hill. Freedom at 21 and I’m shaking still bang

Honestly not a fan. If I was at a cookout on the 4th of July, this might carry more weight.

It’s no wonder they lost the war. This was painful to get through.

Just a solid all around album. Final track is the perfect outro.

Easy listen. Nice and soft. Powerful vocals and you can really tell how much she influenced modern pop sound.

Too sober to listen to this. The beats are rough in most songs and the last 2 minutes of Where Do I Begin are just trash.

More like a movie soundtrack. Background music through and through.

The opening notes of One are legendary. Brings back guitar hero memories. What a damn album.

Smooth as hell

Really expected more from a Bollywood soundtrack. Just kinda boring background noise.

Decent indie. Some shaky tracks here and there but otherwise decent.

Album starts off decent enough, but quickly loses all momentum with the interludes being just boring. I know the album came out in a weird transition period for hip hop, but this just doesn’t fit in anywhere and not in a good way.

Good samba. Just smooth and enjoyable.

I thought it was just a middle ground album but The Murder Mystery really knocked it down another star because of how long and annoying it was.

Would be real nice if Frank made another album this century.

I’ve learned that avant garde being in the description is a red flag.

Smooth. Listened to the full thing on a flight back home and it was just easy listening.

Nice cruising around cross-country road trip music. Some solid guitar bluesy guitar riffs in here.

C’mon. It’s Elton John. It’s like hating ice cream and puppies. You’re just objectively wrong. This album has so many bangers and it’s his magnum opus for a reason.

Not really my vibe. Pretty much background music at a 90s club.

Brutal listen. Not sure how this one is considered a paragon of music.

Really felt like a prototype to much better albums later on. You get glimpses of better music in the middle of a song and then it’s done. Some decent songs on this one but it isn’t really enough.

Was gonna give this 4 stars, but the final song being 16 minutes long really overstayed the welcome. Solid for the genre and I recognize its importance.

If I was told that this album came out at the start of the 2010s, I would’ve believed it. Feels very much ahead of its time given the release date. Solid pop sound.

I think AM is by far the better album, but it’s still really solid. When the Sun Goes Down is an all timer from them.

Wow prog rock. 20 minute song that fakes you out with a false ending 10 times. Man.

It’s a vibe

Nice and smooth. Just good background listening.

Yikes. Aged like milk. Mr. Good Bar is one the weirdest songs easily, but the rest is just so damn corny. I was never a fan of Mama Said Knock You Out, so the rest of the album was just downhill from there. Can’t believe they let him run with the Mr. Good Bar joke like 5 times on the album. Just terrible.

Really weird that they chose this Talking Heads album. It’s like the creator of this list wanted to be a lil hipster and intentionally not choose the greatest hits.

I would’ve listened to this on any given day anyway. It’s a peak album and only gets better with time. Sing About Me I’m Dying of Thirst is an all timer song for me on top of the fact that you have classics like Swimming Pools, Money Trees, Backseat Freestyle, m.A.A.d. city, and Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe. It’s a no skips album.

The biopic where he’s a monkey the whole time has definitely made this a weird album listen. The random like 10 minutes of silence on the final track was a bit annoying to skip through.

Not an ounce of fat on this album. Just fantastic through and through

Sounded a lot like Arctic Monkeys and then I read the lineup. Makes sense why there’s so many bangers here.

Stupid album name aside, Dirty Barry kills any and all momentum for the album and made me wonder when the next shit song would halt all progress for the remainder of the album.

Extremely enjoyable listen. No notes, just vibes.

Grew up listening to The Offspring so this album is an all timer for me. Just some absolute classics on this thing.

Wu-Tang forever. As east coast rap as it gets. I also never realized that Action Bronson is essentially white Ghostface both in sound and rhyme scheme. Just crazy.

Green sleeves was nice but all around just another mid soft rock album.

I’d give this 3.5 stars if I could. Better than most of the mid albums, but nothing special.

What a mess of an album

The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the one hit wonder song Don’t You Want Me finishes off the album.

I’m not a Swiftie by any means, but I can respect the insane impact it has had on everything after this.

Downer indie rock. Very middle school angst

Wow this one was so incredibly boring. 2 Taylor swift albums within a 5 day span and one was very clearly better. This album feels like a cliche-packed parody of a Taylor swift album.

Smooth as hell. You don’t realize how many times they’ve been sampled until you listen through the whole album.
