Blues heavy rock, enjoyed the piano/organ through out the album. Felt like a cohesive album from start to end
Felt like Willie was singing by a camp fire at a ranch as people went to sleep one by one. Little too slow for me through the album although his voice has a soothing feel to it and the simple melodies were easy listening.
Timeless rock album with 3 classics, needs to be considered one of their best if not their best album
Good harmonies and tambourines, highlighted by California Dreamin.
I don’t believe I’ve listened to this album all the way through before but it’s a helluva debut album for Kings of Leon. It’s their typical fast-paced, controlled chaotic rock through most of the album with a couple slower blues-ey/folky songs that were pretty solid (could’ve been worse) for the filler songs. I’ve always thought KoL is great driving music, which I’m not positive if that’s a compliment or not, but I was driving while listening to this so it may have helped the rating.
Probably the best argument I’ve heard for why drugs are bad. Most of the album sounded like a middle school band class when everyone’s warming up before the teacher comes in. Good recommendation if you hated someone.
Great female vocalist and feels like the standard for psychedelic rock. It did feel mostly repetitive through the album but I did like the change of pace that In The Morning brought.
Typically not a big fan of 90s grunge rock but there were a few songs that were pretty solid. Favorite songs were Sugar Kane, Chapel Hill, and Purr but overall it didn’t make up for the rest of the album being noisy and abrasive.
Enjoyed the production and the beats through the album, they have great flow as well and seamlessly intertwine their raps with each other. There were a good amount of quick samples, almost reminding me of Frontier Psychiatrist by the Avalanchers at times. What’s Golden definitely the bright spot of the album.
Very whiny voice without great music either.
Fun upbeat songs with good beats/production, just too many songs that I would skip if not listening to the album through
Hadn’t previously thought of this album as one of my favorite Beatles albums but it has some classics. The songs seem almost effortless for them and help make the case why many consider them one of the best bands.
Absolute banger of an album with a handful of timeless anthems. If I could give half stars I’d give it 4.5, so I’ll round up to 5.
Nailed it with the album title, this is easy listening with a silky voice. Listed as 4 total tracks on the album but feels like it’s one continuous song he’s playing to you in a small underground poorly lit bar.
The simple beats and loops were a little bland and annoying at times but I have to remember this was a new style in the 70s, so I can’t expect it to come out like a Daft Punk album. Good work music at times, could’ve went without the vocals.
Bland Rock and Roll with a couple good songs but feels repetitive through the album.
Started as hot as just about any album could with Sympathy for the Devil but it mostly felt like a southern, honky-tonk type album after that.
I liked this album, it was reminding me at times of Dire Straits and even Paul Simon. I was mowing the lawn while listening to it so I feel like I do owe it another listen.
Good rock but felt a little too hippie rock at times, 3.5 stars rounded up to a 4
Did not enjoy, felt mostly loud, obnoxious, and whiney. There were some redeemable songs that I enjoyed which kept it from being one Star.
Couple good songs and some nostalgia but most of the album was forgettable.
Was a very 90s sounding album.
What Shelly said. Singer mumbles, the lyrics you do hear are dumb, they sound like they’re trying to sound like a really thoughtful band for low IQ people.
Went through waves of liking it and then waiting for the album to be over. The horns on the opening song and Ambulance were highlights on the first listen. Second half of the album faded for me, felt a little too loose and sounding like a rehearsal at times.
This was an enjoyable 90s British pop album.
The album did feel like you were attending a show/opera/classical concert at times. Good cohesion and flow throughout the album.
Another enjoyable British pop album, felt like a calmer version of Squeeze. Lots of stupid/catchy lyrics through the album, I thought I was the only one to call him Georgie Gershwin
Feels like the standard for Folk Rock music, but bland at times but that’s folk baby.
Easy listening with nice melodies and production.
One of my favorite live albums, electric from start to finish. I always forget Huey Lewis is playing harmonica which is a fun surprise.
Not the biggest fan, bit too whacky for me
Felt like redundant video game music, these guys love robots. 🤖
Did not like this album, wish I could’ve skipped every song
Upbeat with good percussion, was nodding my head to the music the whole time.
Hate his voice, should’ve just been a song writer in my opinion
Easy listening, enjoyed the relaxed vibe but definitely some bed time music
Felt like they kept getting in their own way, every time there’d be some flow, they did something weird to kill any momentum
Overall felt a bit repetitive with some highlights like Clint Eastwood but too many songs I would’ve skipped.
Great vocals, enjoyed this a lot more than expected. The song production seemed to compliment her voice nicely while maintaining solid musical backing.
Enjoyed the backing music, solid rock album but not a fan of the singers voice. The scream/whine voice is annoying
Nice Friday morning jazz album. Sounded like 101 Dalmatians and Sinatra at times.
Peaceful and enjoyable as background music but felt a little bland at times
I like me some Jazz and Afrobeat intersection, good for working music
The voice got old very quickly for me, still a couple good songs though. Can’t see myself revisiting the album.
Seemed like a nice blend between true ad-libbed jazz and developed song structure.
Finally some good electronic music, great use of samples and looping and overall all of the production
Lou Reeds voice is no bueno and you can just tell these guys were the worst to hang out with
Liked this more than I anticipated, most songs were good listens without many songs I’d skip
Started out alright but seemed to be a train off its tracks and was a mess by the end.
Started out hot but faded quickly, was a nice change of pace from the last few weeks of albums
Enjoyed more than anticipated but still a little too angry for me
From banger to banger, even the fill songs like Midnight Rambler and Country Honk are enjoyable.
Would’ve rated it a 4.5, rounding up to a 5.
Definition of smooth, comes out super hot with three straight bangers. Could listen to a 3 hour album of this and be happy.
Some real good songs within the album but there’s a few songs like Neuköln where I’m wondering what’s going on
I’d be going to jazz clubs all the time if this was the norm. Felt like a good mix of horns and keys with subtle percussion, instead of individual abrasive performances being showcased.
Felt very 80s but had more respect for it when I saw the album came out in 82.
A lot more depth to this album than I expected. Some bangers in there like Sabotage and Sure Shot, and then not sure I’ve heard Get it Together before but Q-Tip is always a great feature.
Classic. Although the covers are easily recognizable they still make them very much their own, percussion and organ combo is always good by me
The first half of the album is an awesome cover of Who Do You Love, the guitar is ridiculous. They’re a little psychedelic but don’t stray too far from good music, certainly plan on listening to it again.
Queen albums kinda disappoint, there’s a couple good songs but overall not my favorite
Very classic heavy rock album, guitar was top tier
Upbeat pop with some good Jazz-ish bits
Horrible, sounds like non talented kids found instruments and a homeless guy picked up a mic
Great voice and I really enjoyed the strings and horns that were incorporated.
Found this REM album annoying and whiny
Pretty relaxed country album with nice twang but I kept getting SpongeBob vibes for some reason.
Upbeat and funky at times, being under 40 minutes helped with the 4 star rating
Surprised I’ve never heard of them but they felt like a mix of Rolling Stones and Jefferson Airplane. No songs really stood out on the album but also nothing dragged on and were mostly enjoyable.
Long and drawn out songs, would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if it was a shorter album
Enjoyed parts of it but felt a little too repetitive for me
Didn’t understand one word! It’s an alright Folky-Bluesy album but nothing great
I enjoyed the up tempo songs like Sledgehammer and Big Time but a lot of the album was dull. In Your Eyes ending the album makes this teeter between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately do t think I enjoyed it enough for 4 stars.
Didn’t think I’d be enjoying an Indian 90s dance/techno type album but here we are!
Short and sweet! Two classics, including Smoke on the Waters iconic guitar riff. The rest of the album is solid heavy rock, feels like an authentic version of KISS
One of the best 4 song starts to an album, the rest of the album doesnt quite live up to the start but it’s still up beat catchy songs all the way through
Wasn’t minding it too much as a folky album but it just felt so repetitive after a while. 2 star rating got locked in with the final 14 minute song
Such a great blues rock album. Keith Richard’s guitar takes the lead over the vocals on most of the album
Love this album, Shine on You Crazy Diamond may be a top Pink Floyd song for me and then just every song after is a classic.
Pretty damn good for an introductory album. I thought it was a few years earlier than ‘56 which threw me off that Elvis covered Ray Charles on his first album. 100% can hear the blues and rock influence he heavily drew from and helped turn into Pop music
One of the best Christmas albums, gives us possibly my favorite “ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ding-dong-ding” in any version of Sleigh Ride.
I really like this after knowing this is their second released album. You hear a lot of Paul on this one and the covers are impressive because they stay true to the song but The Beatles still add a layer of grit and pace to their versions
Classic great album, immediately puts you in a good vibe and keeps it going the whole time.
Found this a little annoying, the folk rock got old pretty quick.
Fantastic, love me some Niles Rodgers who wrote and produced the album. Such great songs with Greatest Dancer, Lost in Music, and Thinking of You
Such a great album, just about every song is a bop. On the fence between 4 and 5 stars but I think the fact this has Baba, Behind Blue Eyes, and Wont Get Fooled Again pushes it to a 5
Surpassed my expectations and he’s apparently one of those artists that put all their good songs on one album. It does also have a good theatrical thing going on which makes the album feel more like one product vs a collection of songs.
I find this album interesting, it was released two years after Rumors but is forgettable as a whole. Every song is alright but nothing that feels up to the standard of their previous album.
Very enjoyable Latin/samba music, could definitely see myself putting it on again. Going with three stars because there’s no standouts or individual songs I’d revisit by itself
Great album that brought us some gems including one of my favorite rap songs B.O.B. It is a bit long which has me contemplating between 3 or 4 stars but even between the big yams there’s quality stuff like Humble Mumble, 4 stars!
