I overall enjoyed the album, there are some hits but the songs in the middle of the album weren't quite as good. You can definitely tell it was on the early edge of the new wave era.
I'm not sure how I never listened to this album before, but it is a classic. I heard the singles off the album and they are great, but the rest of the album keeps it going as well. I am a sucker for that era of Kanye, so it was right up my alley.
The hits are well known and’s good, and some of the other songs were just ok. But overall I enjoyed the album.
Hit after hit, the album sounds like relaxing outside in the summer with a beer.
I appreciate this album, but it just wasn’t for me. The songs are very dated of course, but every song sounded pretty much the same.
I’ve never been the biggest Springsteen fan. I especially don’t understand the hype about this album, I found it to be very boring. Not all these albums are for everyone I suppose.
I’m not usually a big country music fan, but I rather enjoyed this album. Older country definitely hits different than modern country, I don’t even feel like it’s the same genre at all.
Pretty generic glam metal, it’s listenable but not remarkable. I never heard of the band before and I’ll probably forget about them before too long to be honest.
I’m not really a Christmas music fan, and most of these aren’t the versions you typically hear, so it’s not something I’m really interested in to be honest.
I liked it more than I thought I would going into listening to it. Lots of sax.
Truly an amazing album. The fact that this album invented heavy metal and still holds up today is a testament to its greatness.
A couple songs at the start of the album were alright, but the rest of the album was generic and boring. It’s an album not really for me.
Say what you want to say about it, but the album is full of catchy songs and bangers. I want to find a way not to rank it so high, but it is really good.
I love Outkast, but I had never listened to this entire double album before; I guess I thought the 2:15 length was too daunting. Obviously there are some of their classics on this album, but most of the songs were actually really great. I also enjoyed the juxtaposition between the two albums, but I give it a 4 just because I think I prefer some of their older songs and albums just a little more. But overall, I did enjoy this a lot.
The album was interesting but a lot of songs sounded the same. I liked the synth but the album was just alright.
I enjoyed this album and found it very interesting, the beginning of the album hooked me but the last few songs weren’t as memorable. I’ve been getting into instrumental ambient music lately and being on the techno side, this album really did scratch an itch.
A masterpiece. What else is there to say?
Classic southern rock, half the songs on the album are staples, and the others are all pretty good, except I didn’t ready care for Mississippi Kid. But the other songs are all great, so I have to give it 5 stars.
The album certainly got off on the wrong foot just repeating “time becomes a loop“ over and over, but I found the rest of the album interesting. It wasn’t my favorite techno album, but I could get into it.
A classic album I’ve listened to so many times over the years. Flea’s bass really stands out to me in any Chili Peppers song, but this album might be the peak RHCP experience. It’s a little bloated with some of the songs at the end of the album, but the first 12 or so songs are just dynamite and worthy of a 5 star rating.
This was a great blues album. I loved the live energy and the brass band. BB King really was a master at his craft.
I enjoyed the album, especially the hits, but some of the songs towards the end really blur together. I do like heavy metal, but I think I prefer Black Sabbath a little more.
This album was very boring to me, every song sounded the same and the style just isn’t for me. I’m not sure how some people ranked it the best album of 1993, but I guess people just have different taste than I do.
I found some of the album interesting, but it was a lot of noise. It was basically just sample after sample, so it wasn’t my favorite.
Very good jazz album. It’s hard for me to differentiate between different jazz albums, but I really did enjoy it.
I enjoyed the gritty sound, even though I don’t speak French and had no idea what they were saying.
I didn’t really understand this album. I know it was for a made up crime film, but I don’t understand what was so great about it.
Intro is great, but most of the other songs blended together. I think it’s a little too soft for me.
It was fine but not remarkable. The first half of the album was better than the second half; the second half was just very quiet and didn’t really pique my interest.
This album is a masterpiece, every song is bumpin’. I have listened to it many times before, but I listened again to make sure every song is fun and fits the album, and honestly the entire album is great.
The album was good, but I just couldn’t get into it. I listened to BB King’s Live at the Regal recently and thought that was much more entertaining. But I still enjoyed this album.
I’ve always found Bob Marley’s hits very good and his other songs not as interesting, and this album was no different. I had never heard the studio version of No Woman No Cry, and I can see why the live version is the most well known version. It was an alright album, but not my favorite.
I liked the beginning of the album specifically, of course Lust for Life and The Passenger, but the end of the album was unremarkable with some definitely some cringy lyrics. I got David Bowie vibes while listening, and what do I find out after listening that he collaborated and helped produce the album, so points for that.
I generally liked the album, I was surprised to see it was rated relatively lowly. There were some of their biggest hits, and the songs were pretty fun. Overall an enjoyable listen.
A little too big band-y for me, and the actual recording wasn’t great. It was a decent album.
It was easy listening, but I don’t know why it was included on the 1001 albums I need to listen to. Just kinda meh, but listenable.
This is a great album. Perfect 90s era hip hop album, although I could have done without the skits. Pretty much every song on the album was great, and of course Ready or Not, Killing Me Softly and Fu-Gee-La are all timers.
It was a good folk album. I know it’s his style, but his voice is kind of annoying and the harmonica really takes over, but the lyrics are good and I can understand how this was a very important record when it came out.
The live prison albums by Johnny Cash are very unique and this one is really good. The banter between the crowd and Johnny Cash is pretty funny and I like outlaw country from that era, making this a very good album.
This album was so unremarkable, it was noisy with bad vocals. I like grunge but this was just a bad, boring album.
I thought this album was alright, it had some good songs and it was definitely full of 80s synth pop. I had never heard any of the songs on the album before, and I wasn’t blown away by anything but it worked.
If it’s Irish shanties you are looking for, this is certainly the album. For what it is, this was a really good album, but I’m not sure how often I’m looking to listen to music like this not on St. Patrick’s Day.
I didn’t really care for this album, I guess the concept was interesting but I just found the songs dull.
I thought the beginning of the album had some ok songs, but the end was definitely a slog. This just isn’t really my type of music, but for 90s soft rock it was fine.
This is a good album, there’s something about Morrissey’s voice that I really enjoy, and the music is great. I haven’t really listened to The Smiths a lot, but the music of theirs that I have listened to I mostly like.
A great punk album, if not a little repetitive by the end. The beginning of the album, specifically I’m So Bored of the USA and White Riot stand out to me.
I enjoy Cars of course, but I thought the album as a whole was a little repetitive and couldn’t get into the entire album. I recognize the significance of Gary Numan pioneering the 80s synth pop movement, so I give it stars for being original, but I had higher hopes with what I knew in Cars.
This album to me really shows how good Bowie is, because there I don’t know if I’d ever heard same song in this album before, but it was still really good. It turns out I had heard a couple songs, including The Jean Genie and Time, and there were a couple moments of weird, manic piano playing, but overall I thought this was a good album. If anything, this has shown to me that I need to listen to more Bowie, because his music is really awesome.
I liked the music, but obviously didn’t understand any of the words. Some of the vocals were a little overpowering, but overall this is definitely an easy listening album that was good to have on in the background. This is something I would have never heard of or listened to if it wasn’t for this project, so that is pretty cool.
This was just a boring album to me. The music was slow and his voice kind of annoys me.
The songs on this album were all very spacey and repetitive, and yet, I found this album so fascinating. It's hard to describe exactly what makes this so great, but krautrock is definitely a genre that interests me a great deal. The continuous marching snare drum with the psychedelic guitar just hit the spot for me. This is great background music but also something to listen really closely to.
This album has some of Michael Jackson’s great and well known songs, but I didn’t find it to be my favorite album by him. It’s definitely full of songs that are classic Michael Jackson, but definitely some filler between the hits.
I guess I can see the beginnings of punk rock in this album, but it was mostly just random noise to me and I didn’t understand it.
I thought this was pretty good, but I don’t think it stands out compared to some of his best work. There were some grooves and interesting instrumentals, but overall it’s probably an album of his that I would overlook if I’m trying to listen to some Stevie Wonder.
