60’s coded xmas songs. not bad for a xmas album

i know it was an impactful album, but it’s not to my taste. good production tho

it would be hard for me to give david bowie anything but 5-stars, especially aladdin sane

college art rock from athens. these kids were smarter than they look. this is the only album of theirs i’ve really listened to, but i’ve listened to it quite a bit. i like them despite their fame and how overplayed certain songs were. 52 girls is one of my all time favorite songs

i know and love all these songs but it was a little intense to listen to them back to back on an album.

this was a fun album, and arcade fire’s first album was pretty awesome, but i’m not sure this was better, just more polished

for a rock opera, this was fine, though i prefer pink floyd’s the wall to this. i feel like the who is all about big hits and being mainstrea,. and this is a nice breath of fresh air; more art for art’s sake. but at a certain point, i could only picture charlie day from its always sunny, singing the tommy songs. and then when it got all raspy, i realized that ‘the night man cometh’ must have been a parody of the who’s tommy

i’m on week 3 of daily alliums from this list, and i finally got an album i’d never heard but now love! i was familiar with a few wire songs, but never listened to this album in full

i can appreciate the role she played for women in 90’s music, but overall, not a very interesting album

it’s hard to listen to this without thinking of the beatles or wishing it was the zombies, but upon a second listen, i was able to hear the ways in which they were unique. cool instrumentation and fun, whimsical songs.

very beautiful yet highly unremarkable. is it just me or is there something about this that just sounds like a christmas album?

definitely a unique sound and an exploration of many types of sound. it was jarring at first, but once i got into, it was pretty groovy. goin out west and black wings were my highlights. i appreciate this way more than an ultra smooth boring albums. +1 for creativity -1 for being on the side of unlistenable.

finally, one of my all time faves!! if you don’t like this albums, you’re just too straight-laced (jk)

‘the wall’ was the perfect album to get me through my angsty adolescence. i have always preferred the earlier syd barrett/immediately post-barrett era of pink floyd, but i sure did wear out my vhs of ‘the wall’. listening to it today, it comes across as pretentious and obnoxious, but i can’t help but feel strong nostalgia for it. if memory serves, it’s a way better experience watching it as a movie, but maybe i’m just making excuses for my young self

beautiful and haunting. i’m giving this a 4.5 only so that i can give his other two albums 5’s

fight the power

inoffensive to the point of being uninteresting. not a bad sound, but very few remarkable moments. it certainly captures a moment of the late 90’s, but it could’ve been 20 minutes shorter.

this album is legendary, and for good reason. even as someone who leans more rock and metal, i understand how significant this album is and how it informed black music for generations to come/lay the foundation for so much music in the 20th and 21st century. it is other worldly.

loved the smiths, never really listened to morissey. this album was surprisingly good, tho i still don’t endorse his politics

well, it certainly encapsulates a moment in time

i didn’t realize massive attack started out so reggae-coded. also, the electronic songs remind me a lot of moby. i love mezzanine, but this hardly compares

it’s not as creative as piper at the gates of dawn or as vivid as sgt pepper, but it’s still ahead of the curve compared to a lot of other music from that era. i also really like the quality of sound they captured in the guitar. +1 for tales of brave ulysses

how could anyone turn their back on such a beautiful implosion? a chaotic meandering between voices and genres, no destination, but wasn’t the journey a hoot? probably the most honest beatles album.

i like the stripped down style of young tom waits. kind of sultry and intimate;?you can hear the spit leave his lips. maybe the cockiness of youth let him make songs without the vaudeville spectacle. it could’ve been 15 minutes shorter though.

i would have give. it a solid 3, but the last two songs were so good, i’m giving it a 4

i’m sick of this album cuz i listened too it too much, but damned if it’s not amazing

if i can recite an entire album from start to finish, it probably deserves a 5

i assumed this was going to be obnoxious but it showed restraint and was actually really good

like a beatles album but better

definitely not as bad as i was expecting it to be

this album was all over the place. it had moments of triteness and some exceptional moment as well

i could take or leave side a, but gave it a 5 because side b more than makes up for it.
