1001 Albums Summary

It's surprising that this is the first time I've ever fully listened through a Nirvana album. I've known their singles from listening to the radio but never have gone out my way to listen to a full album. So, I recognized 4/12 of the songs on In Utero. It's honestly everything I'd expect from a Nirvana album.

I've listened to Bruce Springsteen before, he's just never been my style I guess. So I went into this album not expecting to enjoy it. I was glad to find I did enjoy it after all. It was a nice album to listen through while going out for a morning walk.

I love Pixies

Yep this is definitely a Michael Jackson album

I don't know what I was expecting but certainly not this. Very fun listen!

I love this album

Another Springsteen album? Well once again I have been surprised and actually really like this. Might be my favorite out of the albums I've listened to so far by Springsteen.

This album is so long. It's got some great songs on it, but by the 20th song I was ready for it to end. Pretty interesting that Rundgren did all the vocals and instruments himself for about 3/4ths of the album. I think I'll listen to this album again but maybe in bits at a time.

Incredible and influential album

Never watched or even heard of the movie this soundtrack was created for. It has an interesting sound, good sort of background music. Kinda gave me Pink Floyd vibes for a few of the songs? Like there's a sort of experimental, atmospheric rock sound. I like it.

I only knew only two songs on this album going into it, but a few others stuck out to me as I listened. It's a fantastic album and I really appreciate what the band stands for.

Harmonica has got to be the most obnoxious instrument. Although honestly it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so intrusive. Every time the harmonica comes in, it is the loudest thing on the album. If it wasn't so loud I probably wouldn't mind as much. Besides the harmonica, I overall don't care too much for this album. I really can't decide if I hate Dylan's voice. I tried to focus more on the lyrics, but his voice just takes me out of it. I recognized Stuck Inside of Mobile from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Also I was like "I know I've heard of a leopard skin pillbox hat before" and it's because Death Grips used the reference in a song title. If anything, I appreciate getting the chance to listen to this album, regardless of my personal preference.

A very slow and quiet album. Beautiful but I am ready to take a nap now.

This album definitely makes me think 60s. I've heard of The Byrds but never listened to them. I enjoyed this album.

Finally some metal! I love Iron Maiden.

This is a fun album. Only song I recognized is We Are Family. Lost In Music is my favorite song from the album. Some of the slower songs took me out but overall I enjoyed this.

I'm a big fan of the Fugees and this solo album by Lauryn Hill doesn't disappoint.

This album makes me want to dance. Which checks out because apparently it was the best selling salsa album of its time. When I first saw the album cover I wasn't sure what to expect. But I really enjoyed this album, it was nice to listen to as I went for a walk on a beautiful sunny day.

Not a bad album but also not sure what qualified it for this list.

I love this album and I'm happy to see it's on this list. 🖕🧊🖕🍊

Pretty good album! I think Yes is a great band.

I really enjoyed this album. Janelle Monae is so talented. I've only heard one album by her prior to this but wow this one might be a new favorite.

Another fun album by The Pogues. I can't believe out of 1000+ albums, I get the two by this artist less than a month apart from each other.

Not my favorite Radiohead album but still a good one

What a great album

This is such generic, radio friendly rock.

I love this album so much. It's such a perfect album and one of the best concept albums I've ever heard.

Unsure how I feel about this album. I really like the instrumentals but I'm a bit mixed on the vocals.

I recognized two songs off this album: Breakdown and American Girl. Pretty solid classic rock album.

I recognized Le Freak and I Want Your Love. At Last I Am Free almost completely took me out of this album. Thankfully, the last two tracks were bangers.

A very influential album for metal. Some lyrics were a bit cheesy but that's just the 80s lol.

I love this album. It's a fun listen!

I may come back to this album for a second listen. Really enjoyed a lot of the songs.

Got bored of this album kinda fast. I've heard Song 2 hundreds of times before. A few songs stuck out to me but not enough to make me want to revisit this album.

I love Dire Straits

A classic

A very influential album in regards to electronic music. I find it funny that Wikipedia says this is his first album not intended for use as a soundtrack. It very much sounds like it could be used as a soundtrack lol. I enjoy early synthesizer music and this is a great album.

Tribe is exactly what I need for today. They've been a favorite of mine for a long time. Not a single bad album.

I love this album

Jethro Tull has been on my radar for a while but I never got around to listening to them. Great album.

I was sitting in the lobby of a car dealership while my car was getting an oil change, listening to this album on my earbuds. Suddenly the music stopped, but my bluetooth was still connected. I realized it auto connected to my car. So it's very likely the service person saw "Post Orgasmic Chill" on the screen of my car. Not a bad album.

Amy Winehouse deserved better.

I enjoyed this album way more than I expected to

In all the years that I've heard Bittersweet Symphony on the radio, I've never once thought "I want to hear more by this artist" the album is fine I guess but not really my thing.

Wow a band called The Band, how meta.

I like the Cha Cha Cha song

Young Americans is one of my least favorite songs ever so that has prevented me from ever fully enjoying this album. Sorry Bowie.

Idk I think I need to listen to this album when I'm not super tired

I love 2000s era rnb and this sounds exactly like I expected it to

I love this.

Actually enjoyed a few songs but overall I'm not sure why this album is on the list.

Maybe a hot take but I think Pretty Hate Machine is a better album

Beautiful

The *other* grunge band from Washington state

I just do not like AC/DC

Good album but I am tired of hearing Brass in Pocket.

Marvin, you okay?

What the hell is this. I just kept imagining Charlie Day singing this. Actually I'd like this better if Charlie was singing.

Forgive me, Simon and Garfunkel. This just isn't doing it for me.

Man loves that damn harmonica

This album took me on a journey. Wow

Woah

Fun album, I used to listen to this on my mp3 on bus rides to school.

You know what hell yeah

I enjoyed this more than I expected to

Another album that makes me go "why is this even on the list"

What a unique album. I liked the part where there was screaming and farting.

I don't hate this at all but I can only take 80s hard rock in small doses at a time.

What a fun album

Hell yes

This is a fun album and I love Leonard Cohen's voice

A Bob Dylan album I don't hate? Hmmmmm.

Hell yeah

Had to listen on YouTube because it isn't on streaming services. This is a compilation album and I plan to look into the featured artists a bit more. I love DnB so this was a fun listen.

I liked Emmylou's vocals a lot more than Gram Parsons. Interesting story behind this album.

Nice

Psychedelic Furs played at Darker Waves Festival 2023 but I didn't care so much to see them, as they overlaped with another band I did want to see. Well I walked to the stage they just finished playing at to see The B-52s play. But it wasn't The B-52s. It was The Psychedelic Furs. There was some sort of delay at that stage so the sets were pushed back. So that's how I saw Psychedelic Furs in concert against my will. Anyway I think this is a great album and really has that 80s post punk sound. Oh and they were fun in concert too.
