Not my cup of tea. The musicality is undoubtable, but it's not for me.
I love this album.
A fun rock opera.
Born more than a decade after Jimi's passing, and on a different continent, I was never really exposed to his music until the inevitable late-teen-experimental-phase.
Blew my mind.
This was a wonderful reunion with some great songs. The Wind Cries Mary is a beautiful song.
There is probably a reason why I've only heard one of the songs from this album before.
The Weight is a good song. The others are not. They range from OK to bad. All in all a disappointing listen in my opinion.
Decent enough time capsule. A few of the songs fall down. Others hold up, but ultimately it is a decent album, nothing more.
Funky, smooth and soulful.
An album you need to be in the mood for. Good, but not great.
Lots of simple, happy songs.
Good listen.
Not for me.
Safe, toothless and overall pretty bland.
Not bad, but just... meh.
Nice, but nothing more for my tastes.
No thanks.
It's interesting. Sounds from the Big House has a cool mood, but this is not for me.
Fun, but not a revolutionary live album.
Never got in to brit pop when it arrived, and Pulp was definitely not a band I listened to if I listened to it at all.
I felt the production of this album was pretty terrible. Granted I listened from Spotify in my car, but the vocals were so muddy and low sound that I had trouble picking it up.
All in all this is what I feel about most brit pop. Just... alright.
Never been a huge fan of jazz. This album didn't make me one either, but it was decent backing sound for my morning commute.
I don't like this. I get why people do, but this isn't my jam. At all.
Boring/whiny. Hard to put my finger on it, just... no.
Fun and interesting, but ultimately not something I'll put into the rotation.
Good backing sound while cleaning the bathroom.
Didn't do it for me.
Not bad, but not my jam or interesting enough to become my jam.
Drunken Ramblin' Jack Elliott.
What was the point of this?
This is nice enough. Nothing spectacular.
Waterfall is probably the best song on here, slightly marred by the discordant repetition of the melody in Don't Stop.
Bit confused by the interlude of new lyrics to Scarborough Fair for less than a minute, but why not eh?
Equally confused by the two final tracks/jam sessions.
Good, not great.
I was hoping to get some good music when this came up. Alas, it's just another album that isn't really bad, but doesn't give me anything of value either.
Meh.
Once again I was hopeful I would get a interesting album. Once again I was disappointed.
The albums on this list aren't bad, but they don't give me anything either. A cavalcade of 2s and 3s.
Oh good. Another album where the big decision rests between a 2 or a 3
The fascinating thing about this one was that most of the songs start out sounding like a good song, and by the end it's not. It's either weird or just plain boring.
Run Christian Run eventually veers over into "nice" after being impressively boring to start with.
Fragile Happiness was a proper way to end the album. Almost pretty and very boring.
"Cool hook repeated for 7 minutes in lieu of an actual song"-the album.
It could've been so good, but it's just... repetitive.
Some great parts just pummeled into the ground.
This is very much a "not for me."
It's probably fantastic for those who enjoy this.
I do not.
Another album from an artist I didn't know. That is interesting at least.
Every song starts out as a beautiful song, then the vocals come in and you get disappointed. Then the song never ends.
Could've been wonderful, but falls way short of that.
There are some fantastic songs on these albums, but there are also A LOT of mid album filler.
The good songs still pull this out of mediocrity to a solid 4.
Dad rock before dad rock. Grandpa rock? Uncle rock?
Just some dudes and some beards playing some music adequately.
Sharp Dressed Man is a fun song, but is it good? Not particularly, no.
Honestly...
WTF was the point of this?
More than half the album is the same song twice and an interview?
Stupid.
Decent.
No more, no less.
It accompanied me through my morning routine without making a fuss.
OK backing to my morning routine.
Second day in a row with Curtis was a surprise, but at least this is super fly.
This is very much not for me.
Nice airy summer vibes.
It's fun, but it's also just too damn short.
I get that it's punk, but sometimes you can be just a tiny bit too punk.
I liked it more than I thought I would.
Good songs to start, then the quality drops.
I'm not too familiar with R.E..M. outside of the massive hits of the 90's.
Probably a reason for that. This album started out very bland and then remained like that throughout.
The the drum samples used in the the 80s should be classified as a war crime.
The the songs are not particularly good. Some are fun, but in the the end this is a disappointment.
The songs are nice, but I just don't enjoy her style of singing. She sounds 30 years older than she was.
Doesn't work for me.
It's _fine_
It sounds like any generic blues album or blues song, which is probably to it's credit. Muddy is a good singer, but the songs aren't good.
Background noise.
Pleasant, but completely forgettable.
Yet another album that's _fine_.
It's not bad, not good, just is.
This is my 44th album to rank. It will be the 38th that is ranked two or three.
1001 albums you must have in the background and forget the second you stop listening.
Not their best album, but it's still better than a lot of the albums I've listened to so far.
Getting my second Barry Adamson album after only 45 rankings was an unwelcome surprise. I feared my morning was ruined, but was pleasantly surprised. This is actually music! At least most of it. I found myself nodding along to a few of the jams, so all in all this is miles better than Moss Side Story. It's not my jam, but it's not a crime against humanity either.
Finally an album that's not just OK, or listenable, but actually good.
A thoroughly enjoyable listen.
An album of its time. Massive when it came out, and helped define the early 90s rock scene, but it hasn't really stood up to the test of time.
Even Flow, Alive, and Jeremy are more nostalgia trips than actual good songs.
Oh good it's David Bowie.
Oh no it's Aladdin Sane.
Could've been better, but could've been worse.
It's psychedelic 60s rock, but it's not particularly good psychedelic 60s rock.
Some nice tracks among several boring tracks. Unable to hold my attention throughout.
Ok, I get it. Smooth, low key, groovy.
Good, but not able to keep me interested in this as anything more than background noise.
Cool, nostalgic, annoying, limited appeal when all is said and done.
Several songs sound like they were made by Lonely Island to spoof the Beastie Boys.
Frenetic and fun.
Liked it more than I thought I would - without being blown away - at the beginning. Then then last four songs hit... Chaotically disappointing end.
Some good songs, some less than good songs. All in all a nice start to my morning.
A resounding Meh from me.
Not my jam.
Disonnant and discordant?
Fun at times, but too chaotic when all is said and done.
It's interesting and a completely new musical experience.
They formula seems to be:
- cool riff
- poetry slam
- bit of jamming
- noise
I like it and hate it at the same time.
Odd.
I both like it and find it enervating.
I can enjoy a song or two, but a whole album gets to be too much.
There are some interesting gems hidden in a sea of noise and silliness.
The first part of album 1 made me angry, which is no way to start your morning.
Not for me Clive.
An up and down album. Songs ranging from decent to whiny borefests.
Smack dab in the middle of the pack.
Ranging from annoying to background noise, this was a pointless scream.
Yes!
Short and sweet, banger after banger.
Good stuff.
Seriously?
What is this supposed to be?
Made it to the 9th song and found better things to do.
No redeeming qualities and straight to the Junkyard.
An anthology of completely forgettable songs.
A nice collection of songs. Gets a bit samey after a while, but still nice.
Never got the buzz in the 90's. Don't get the buzz now.
It's a decent pop record.
Don't look back in anger is probably the best song.
Some great songs on here, but the sheer number of songs also means that there are a fair few weak tracks. A few of them are twice as long as they are need to be as well.
Nice enough.
[annoyed grunt]
Weird, silly, pointless, infuriating, meh.
Why is it that artists think: "I should make a song that repeats on itself for nine fucking minutes." Some of the parts are pretty and lull me into wandering thoughts, but then I get back to myself and wonder why the music hasn't changed.
Good for them, not for me.
Some good songs, some subpar songs, no great songs.
Just OK.
Not a fan of punk.
I love a lot of rock and metal, but I don't love this.
A true classic.
It's up there, but not all the way to the top.
A third R.E.M. album eh?
This is probably their best one. It has a couple of OK songs (Drive, Man On the Moon) and a lot of forgettable ones. It's fine I guess.
This was a huge disappointment. I was ready to funk up my morning, but this was anything but.
The songs are either annoying, boring or not very good at all.
Reading that Family Affair was among their biggest hits was also baffling. That was an outright bad song.
There's a Riot Going On? Where? Not in this album. Songs like Spaced Cowboy and Runnin Away are going on here, and it's all just a big shame.
What a confusing journey.
[Cult of Personality starts] : ah a rock album. I've heard this song before. It's good. Let's see what else Vivid has in store for us.
[an hour of every single 80s theme/genre/stereotype]
I... Uh... What?
Songs are unnecessarily long, but not bad.
Didn't listen when I was 20.
Courtesy skip through the album 24 years later.
Some OK pop songs, but this is pretty generic stuff.
I don't know what I expected from Tom Petty, but it wasn't this.
Just annoying and boring.
At least it was short.
Smoke on the water is iconic.
Highway Star is fun.
Nice album in total.
I got three songs in and decided that I have better things to do than listen to mediocre music.
A fun reunion with Zach and his anger.
This isn't especially good, but it's not bad either. Nostalgia tips this in a positive direction as well.
The land of the free? The one who told you that is your enemy. 😀
This was pretty good.
Not fantastic, but pretty good.
Rock solid, no fuss, three.
Good.
This was fun.
No bad songs, even though they weren't all great.
Thoughts while listening to this.
- Oh cool. I remember when this came out.
- Wow, these songs aren't that great.
- Give it away now.
- This is pretty bad actually.
- Under the bridge
- Man, I kinda hate Anthony Kiedis now.
This is just not for me.
Never been a fan, never will be a fan. Anemic, boring, annoying. Meh.
Never been a fan of Neil Young, but have I really given it a chance.
OK. Open mind.
Fairly generic rock. Boring.
Neil's voice is pretty bad and whiny.
I'm angry now.
Bah.
Nah...
Whiny, boring, annoying.
Fun.
Not all the songs are great, but this was good.
This was an odd one.
The music is good, but somehow the songs seem too long. Even if they are 3 minutes. I enjoyed it, but also zoned out at times.
Is this music? Well, yes. It's not great, but I liked it.
A wonderful blast from the past.
Some great songs and no bad songs.
Lots of cool songs, but it's just too... busy? I don't know.
Alright.
One of the albums that come up and I know it's a 5 without needing to listen to it.
Remember shuffling through my dad's modest vinyl collection and finding this. Blew my mind as a 14 year old. A great album.
Ah some 80s synth pop.
Oh, going for a weird vibe eh?
Man this is fairly high on the weird 80s scale.
Meh, these bunnymen should've stayed away from the echoes.
