1001 Albums Summary

Being a casual Nick Cave listener, taking the time to listen to more of his songs is a joy. And it's a really good album! The use of the choir being a common thread throughout makes the listening experience cohesive, as the messaging fluctuates between different levels of darkness.

I generally appreciate garage and other similar styles of edm, but over an hour? The vocals didn't do it for me and only one or two songs stood out.

Some good songs I'll definitely find myself listening to again, some very forgettable ones.

Not bad, just very forgettable.

The first two songs (which I had heard before) are really solid, but the rest are just kind of whatever. Minus one star because Eric Clapton.

Listening to this album feels like your best friend embracing you and them telling you how life is pain, but how life also is so much beauty and happiness if we let it reach us.

A great collaborative album, one minute the guitar gets to shine, the next it's the saxophone.

Several of these tracks are part of the backdrop of my teenage years, so I'm quite biased. A cohesive and solid rnb album.

In my opinion most 80s music is best when you don't listen to the lyrics. It's fun, Buffalo Stance is iconic.

Many of the reviews with lower ratings sadly reeks of misogyny (and probably racism too)... Anyway, I liked it! It's cohesive and I can absolutely see myself putting this on again. No track really stood out as exceptionally good though.

It was not a bad album, but it was boring. Thrash, out of all types of metal, is definitely not the most interesting one. Bad Omens was fun with the often prominent base, but the overall highly unimpressive vocals really didn't do it for me. Hoping for more fun metal in the future...

Being a The Cure fan since my teenage years, I'm a bit embarrassed to say I haven't taken the time to listen through their entire discography yet. This album popping up when it did was great timing, since I'm seeing them in a couple of weeks for the first (and maybe last?? you never know with these older bands) time. This album is all about vibes, in the best sense. It's atmospheric, dark and hauntingly beautiful. A Forest being a song I listened to a lot as an angsty teenager, I have a love/hate relationship to it. Some might feel the album as a whole is a bit one note and boring, but for me it fits the theme and lyrics.

I've never heard a single song by Supertramp before, but I'm pleasantly surprised! At the same time very much a 70s album and quite modern sounding, it makes for a cohesive and lovely listening experience.

It's very much a album that I enjoy, but all songs blend together and nothing stands out. Great background music, which isn't a critique.

Not even an hour after I finished the album and I cannot for the life of me remember a single song. Boring.

I had never heard of the band before and just did a quick search beforehand to at least know what genre I was in for. Despite doing this, it both was and wasn't what I was expecting. All in all, I really liked it!

Enjoyed it more than I thought, although it sounds like a lot of other things.. or is it other things that sound like this?

Being Swedish, I've grown up hearing ABBA everywhere all the time, so there's lots of nostalgia connected to several songs of theirs. This album has some iconic songs, like Dancing queen and Fernando. My personal favourite is Knowing Me, Knowing You. Many of the others are just average.

Must be if not the best, then at least of the best live albums I've ever heard. A joy!

I did not expect a song like Sense of Doubt on this album, since I'd only heard Heroes before. Great experience!

Boring over all, but I found myself digging my head to several songs so I guess it's a weak 3...

What can I say, it's Ziggy Stardust?

35 minutes but it felt like it went on forever. I found it quite disjointed and maybe because of that somewhat disingenuous. Some songs also felt a lot like some white boys playing black music. Only like the title track and maybe "The Ox".

Not necessarily bad, just boring.

Listening to a Beatles album very much makes you realise how many songs you've heard before without really knowing. Anyway, I really liked it! Is this the start of my being a Beatles fan??

A weak three because I don't like Costello's voice and the songs are largely carried by the occasionally interesting lyrics. All in all very mediocre.

I've been thinking what my criteria for 1 star would be and I've decided on the question "Do I want it to stop?". If yes, then it's a 1 one star. While a 2 star album is only boring, the thing that makes this album a 1 star is that I simply cannot bother to listen to song after song which make my skin crawl.

Never trust an album cover from the 60s/70s. I thought I was in for some folk, but man was i wrong. Enjoyed it, strong 3!

It was mostly not bad, but I really do not like Morrissey and his narcissistic tendencies really shines through here...

I was sceptical at the start, but ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. Some nice songs!

Big city music, surprisingly good background music for cooking.

Alright, but after a while it all stared to sound like the same song over and over again.

It was the morning of August 26th when I opened the page to get my daily album. Me and many others around the world woke with different levels of sadness, having lost one of the biggest, most inspirational artists of our age. Imagine my surprise when my randomised daily album was one of the very same artist, Dolly Parton??? I cannot say I've been an avid Dolly listener. It was only last year I started listening to country a bit more, and before that it was only the occasional Dolly hit. But she was so much more than artist and she meant so much for so many. This album was by no means a masterpiece, but it was a nice listening experience. The three singers voices blend wonderfully together.

Funky och konstigt! Slutet på Wars of Armageddon var lite väl mycket för mig, men i övrigt en bra upplevelse!

Jag är övertygad om att personer som inte tycker om den här typen av kul musik (som också har substans) aldrig har haft kul i sitt liv.

Spolade igenom de första 5 låtarna och kände att detta tänker jag inte lägga nästan 3h av mitt liv på.

Tyckte om det mer än jag trodde att jag skulle göra. Väldigt franskt. Vet inte om jag kommer lyssna på det igen dock.

Jazzigt, funky och kul album. Visste inte att det var nästan helt och hållet instrumentalt, men blev positivt överraskad.

Detta var verkligen ett album som växte på mig och blev bättre för varje låt! Nina Perssons röst är ikonisk och representerar 90-talsindie för mig så mycket. Kan se mig själv lyssna på detta om och om igen!

Min enda koppling till Peter Gabriel är att Vampire Weekend nämner honom i EN låt. I övrigt ett varken spännande eller tråkigt album, bara väldigt mycket 80-tal.

Jag har mycket respekt för punk, både som kultur och musik. Men efter Rise Above som jag ändå tycker om, blir det långtråkigt.

Mer 3.5, gillar många av låtarna, men kände inte så mycket. Hade inte haft något emot att lyssna igen!

Över 60 album och detta är det första jag faktiskt har lyssnat på förut. Bra variation, gillar pianot som dyker upp i några låtar. Solid!

Jag hittade detta album på cd 2016 på en loppmarknad i Edinburgh när jag precis hade upptäckt Tears for Fears. Både Everybody Wants to Rule the World och Head Over Heels är bland det bästa som kommit ur 80-talet, men även de andra låtarna är topp.

Inte vad jag förväntat mig, men fint!

På inget sätt kan jag vara objektiv när jag lyssnar på ett av mina mest spelade album någonsin. Detta är större delen av min högstadie- och gymnasietid.

För ett album på endast 30 min varade det förvånansvärt länge, men jag gillade ändå ett par av låtarna.

Tråkigt emellanåt, men har absolut inga problem med Nicos sångröst.

Några låtar var riktigt bra, men annars var det bara helt okej.

Mitt andra album av detta gänget och detta är ännu bättre än det första. Hade hört Our House förut, men jag uppskattade alla.

Tänkte länge ge det en trea, men det var långtråkigt och jag kan inte komma ihåg en enda låt..

Vad kan jag säga om ett album som jag faktiskt också äger mer än att varenda låt är väldigt bra?

Det får en fyra på grund av några ikoniska låtar, men över lag är det mest helt okej.
