Koritni is considered with bands like Airbourne or The Answer as the rebirth of hard rock.[6]

Prefectly fun rock! Not sure its distinct enough for the list, but a solid listen.
Shlock rock
A very flavorful rocker. Great mix of music and lyrics. Tasty
2009 hard rock, I'm surprised they didn't hit in the States cause it sounds like everything else that was out at the time
Hmm, it’s just straight ahead basic rock music. It sticks to the template. Can imagine standing with a bunch of middle aged men in double denim, clutching cider and head banging (them not me). They are decent at what they do but this does not belong on the list. 2.5
Generic rock
Album cover looks like something out of the 80s hair metal cannon, but this was released in 2009. Oh boy... 155 out of the gate sounds like revivalist dad rock with a highly punchable vocalist. Gives me Maneskin or Gretta Van Fleet vibes. I'm not sure I'm going to make it boys. Insult to injury that the band is named after the vocalist, so there is little hope of improvement. Yeah I made it to Roll the Dice then skipped ahead to Game of Fools based on "Plays." If this is the best this album has to offer, it just ain't for me. Some of the soloing shows promise, but otherwise this feels like a soulless recreation of Bad Company (without the benefit of Paul Rodgers) or AC/DC. Given my knee jerk repulsion this earns its 1
Poor man's Def Leppard This band would be awesome to see live at 1230am at Rams Head during van day. I would want them to do plenty of covers though.
These guys wanted to debut in 1978 so badly. Some of these songs rocked really hard but a few of them were a bit cheesy sounding. Good songs outweighed the not so good though.
Just kinda seems like a modern take on hair metal. Pass.
Hard Rock Cafe. 2009 really is the funniest year for this to have come out. Like even sometime in the 2020s would have been more defensible
Just feels very dated
Buen disco de rock muy universal. Con pegada, pero sin mucha intensidad. Voz conforme y que cumple. Demasiado bastante previsor y parecido.
These guys remind me a lot of AC/DC or Airborne. Ironic since they are also Australian. Pretty solid easy listening hard rock. Not earth shattering by any means, but pretty good to pop on when you're in the mood. Favourite songs: Nobody's Home, V8 Fantasy, Game of Fools, Stab in the Back, 155, Roll the Dice, Tornado Dreaming (Parts 1 & 2), By My Side, Deranged Least favourite songs: You Vs Me 4/5
I’m surprised this is on here because it’s just a rock record and those seem to be out of favor these days. Kinda average hard rock but I’m a hard rock guy, so….. Kudos to you, whoever added it, for going against the goofy shit a lot of these Bonus Albums seem to be. I’ll give an extra ⭐️ just for that.
Is this Nickelback? This is Viagra hard rock.
This was alright, even enjoyable for a bit, but 51 minutes is too much.
It's like if Def Leopard was polished to a perfect crowd pleasing sheen. Delightful.
If AC/DC and Aerosmith had a baby, it'd be Koritni. I mean, it's standard rawk. Fun, a good time... but I fail to see why this should be included in the list. Top tracks: "Stab In The Back", "You VS Me," "Keep Me Breathing," "Tornado Dreaming" (didn't need 2 versions of this.
Sorry, this is just a “wanna be” album. I wanna be this band, I wanna be that band. This is your typical cover band that somehow swindled someone in to recording them. Unless the lead singer was rich beforehand and losing money everytime they put out an album 🤷🏻♂️
I knew to stay away from the album cover and Wiki
Really liked this one. Not metal hard, but solid hard rock with a bit of a bluesy hint. Very retro 80/90 sound but still modern. I like it and I'm glad to discover them!
Having survived the 80s and 90s hair sound I'm experienced enough to know that stone has been squeezed and it shouldn't come back. This album from 2009 confirms that take. 2/5
Extremely trope-heavy revival hard rock, executed very well. The vocals are genuinely strong, the songwriting hits every classic hard rock marker, and the whole thing is clearly made by people who love the style. Historically it feels about 40 years too late, but it’s hard to deny it’s genuinely fun if you meet it on its own terms.
This boat sailed decades ago. Come on boys, keep up.
Somehow this 2009 album teleported me from 2026 to 1987 and now I'm stuck here. Send help.
This one caught me completely by surprise. I was expecting maybe some gangsta rap or some sort of street posturing. Was not expecting Australian sleaze rock. Definitely a fun listen.
Never heard of Koritni- but I remember when "Runnin' Wild" by fellow Australians Airbourne started playing on rock radio, and naive preteen me probably thought it meant classic hard rock was back, baby. Lex Koritni's voice kinda reminds me of the guy from the Black Crowes, which is a plus imho Fun, not sure how much of this I'll remember after today. OP's album summary will haunt me for a while, though. 1- and 2-starring almost every single album on the list, stayed on the user list long enough to give this 5 stars, and was never seen again. Sir, what motivated you? I have a harder time sticking to a routine of things I actually enjoy (like playing piano). 3/5, could use more piano HL: "By My Side", title track, "Tornado Dreaming II" January 27, 2026 P.S. no I'm not done whinging. GnR didn't even get 5 stars from this dude. ROCKS by Aerosmith got 3 only. What even is this album without those two? I'll convince myself OP is a troll, because the alternative is too hard to bear
Modern hard rock. Wow. Kind of weird to hear. It's fine. Nothing earth shaking. But welcome.
Bluesy Hardrock that's way too oldschool for 2009. I can see the local divorced grandma's (let's be honest, there's no mothers or fathers listening to this anymore) taking the spotlight dancing to this.
Hard rock. Me ha gustado, un 4.
Hard rock. Parece heavy de los 80. Un poco pesado, pero bueno.
Game Of Fools appeals to me as straight down the line hard rock. Not original, not innovative but loud, simple, good time rock. 3/5 with Roll The Dice, Nobody's Home and Tornado Dreaming II the standouts. I prefer Airbourne massively if I'm doing modern era hard Aussie rock but this lot seem good enough.
Lads lads lads. Let's choose some albums that are exceptional eh?
This is exactly what it says on the tin. Hard Rock in the style of the late 70s to the early 90s. Feels like listening to the radio when I was a kid. It was a fun ride and really consistent throughout the album. I don't know what it brings to the list, but it was a good time.
I'm so sorry. This is so fucking bad I thought it was submitted as a joke. But in the reviews people seem to treat it like a real album, so I guess it's not. It oscillates between a parody of AC/DC and a parody of Pearl Jam. Both of whom are progenitors of extremely generic sounding music.
My American friends and family occasionally ask me what, exactly, the word ‘bogan’ means. Now I can make an album suggestion to them that perfectly encapsulates the phenomenon. It’s watered-down AC/DC time-travelling from the 80s. It’s not bad, but it is an acquired, not-great-beery kinda taste. And aftertaste.
I thought at the beginning this might have potential but as each song went on it got worse LOL. Meh.
It's not ... *bad* per se in terms of talent ...but it kinda sucks, know what I mean? All sorts of flashbacks going through my head....Georgia Satellites meet Badlands meet BulletBoys...wait is this 1989 all over again? I did this once. Exhausting. 3/10 2 stars IMO: Belonged in the book? No.
Very much not for me. I'm one of the few that gave AC/DC's albums both one stars on the main list, there was no world where I'd be giving this anything higher. I don't even really understand the add, with plenty of other artists having generic hard rock covered thirty years before this album existed. I mean, look at the user who submitted this and you'll probably find I don't think the user exactly listens to anything BUT this kind of music, so... good for them? Do what you enjoy, but don't make everyone else listen to fifty minutes of nothingness.
Another album where the terrible artwork works against some good music. Get better designers!
Meat and potatoes. Let's face it: had this cliché hard rock thing been released in the mid-eighties, maybe it would have reached some sort of "cultural" impact (I'm not even sure, actually, but let's just pretend). Playing that sort of thing 25 years later, though? Well, the skeletons on that awful album cover give you one of the rare "objective" answers the 1001 Albums quest can provide us. Also, seeing the galleries of the user who submitted this album is a very sad thing. Really gives you the impression that said user just hates music overall. Why do some people inflict such harm on themselves? It's just mind-boggling for me. I'm gonna take my own advice now, stop listening to Koritni, and go touch some grass outside. Have a very nice day everyone. --- 1/5 for the purposes of this list of essential albums. 6/10 for more general purposes: 5 + 1 ---- Number of albums from the original list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 465 Albums from the original list I *might* include in mine later on: 288 Albums from the original list I won't include in mine: 336 ----- Number of albums from the users list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 49 Albums from the users list I *might* select for mine later on: 63 Albums from the users list I won't select for mine: 117 (including this one) --- Hey, Émile. One doesn't love this record, though Sammy Hagar probably does.
Didn’t do much for me.
Dull, not for me!
Competent riff-based rock, let down by the vocals. By coincidence, Mick Ralphs died last week so I was promped to listen to Bad Company to remind myself how it should really be done.
2009!? It sounds so dated.
This really hit the spot! Back-to-back bangers. Really got into it, very energetic and enjoyable. Great accompaniment for my Friday afternoon. More like this will be very welcome!!!!
The guy who submitted this went through the entire list, gave a 1/5 to everything that wasn't cock rock, finished, submitted a cock rock album, then went through the users list and gave everything a 1/5 until he finally got to his own submission, gave it a 5/5 and left forever. I fully respect that but I also really fucking hate cock rock, so it's a 2/5 from me, chief.
Is it good? Yes Is it essential? Probably not My rate of 4 stars makes sense? No, I'm sure
From the cover and the year I wasn't expecting what I got, which was perfectly serviceable straight ahead hard(ish) rock and roll. A fun if unexceptional album.
Everything I never want to hear all wrapped up in one perfect storm of suck. Every cliche is employed. Not a single original moment.
Well, Sleaze Rock is definitely an appropriate name for this genre. It really captures the feeling of the 80s hair metal bands, but with a slightly more modern feel. It's not particularly what I was looking for, but they execute it well, and it's a fun album overall that feels like a throwback to no year in particular 4/5
Uninspiring, generic, devoid of a unique idea. This could be anytime or any band really and not 2009 Shame on them- they could have tried to something different.
This is an album that felt that the 2000s didn't have enough of bro rock and wanted to give us one more album to suffer through.
It's not really breaking any new ground.
I was great
This sort of AC/DC-clone aussie pub rock revival of the 2000's really only yielded two bands worth mentioning: Airbourne and this one. In truth, neither are worth appraisal because later acts like The Chats and Amyl and the Sniffers more successfully fused the sound with more garage punk energy. Are they a competent band? Sure. Lots of bands can write a few riffs and play a rock beat under it. Is it good? Not really! And 50 minutes on top of that, there's really no need. CONTENDER FOR THE LIST: lol no.
Hmmm, yes. Rock
There are two demographics that would seek this out: divorced dads and marketing professionals working on a commercial for an oversized pickup truck that will spend its whole existence in the suburbs never being used for its intended purpose. The truck will be purchased by the divorced dad who will then complain about gas prices.
I don’t to be too mean, because I think there’s a fair chance OP is a member of or has a strong connection to this band. That’s the only way I can understand this being submitted to the list. It’s 20 years out of date and sounds like a second rate Nickleback.
Never heard of this band. Really shit cover. Let's listen...Better that the cover. Genetic well executed hard rock. Singer good but hits a lot of cliches vocal stylings. Bit AC/DC bit Audioslave.
Black Crowsish bluesy hard rock. Won me toward the end.
They nailed the classic hard rock song even if it felt like they were playing the same song over and over. I think with multiple listens I’d really like most of the songs on here. I’m impressed so far at least 80% of the user submitted list I’ve gotten are from bands I’ve never heard of. Always love discovering new music!
I didn’t really get anything out of this - ‘80s style hard rock that wouldn’t have stood out in the ‘80s, and just felt incredibly dated for 2009
Pretty good rock album! Crisp and great vocals. The thunder down under or something like that.
Good old rock and roll, eh? Classic sound, seems like a band forgotten by time. 2009 for this is pretty wild. Not bad by any stretch, but I didn't find it very interesting. 2.5/5
Boring 80's hard rock made in 2009.
I have to wonder what makes one think that what this list needs is more hard rock from the 2000s. Not a bad record though
Well, this isn't a bad album, but it is also a thoroughly unoriginal album that contributes nothing but a fun 40-ish minutes to your life. Yes, the album is 51 minutes long. It gets tired after 40 though.
The aussie Guns n roses, in a good way
Never heard of this band. It's like a slightly more modern take on hard rock but completely forgetable and utterly bland. My personal rating: 3/5 My rating relative to the list: 3/5 Should this have been included on the original list? No.
-Look at the cover art -looks like lame rip off of megadeth -listen to first 15 seconds -it’s a lame rip off of megadeth with less metal and more lame rock sound -keep listening, nothing changes -turn off
Wow. I thought they stopped making this stuff in 1989! It's not changing the world, and many bands did it better in hard rocks golden age, but it's great this is still being catered to, and it's done well.
If Jimmy Barnes had a jam with the rhythm section of AC/DC, and asked Slash to play some sick solos from time to time. Great stuff!
I rarely seek out music like this nowadays, but this is solid.
I'm not sure which band, but it reminds me of a shitty band... It's aight I guess.
Rode this one like a wave, up and down. By song three I was enjoying it. A few songs later I was tired of it. I'm not sure I needed two "Tornado Chasing" tracks. It's fine, played well, but would definitely be flagged for plagiarism if it went through one of those scanners. Copies a bit too hard from the likes of Van Halen ("By My Side") and AC/DC ("Game Of Fools"). Favorite track: "You Vs Me"
Images that go hard
Very bland and annoying voice.
I get a big taste of David Coverdale and Whitesnake in this. Maybe a bit of Poison. Fender heavy and just classic 80s rock components. Released in the 2000s. Zoinks.
A very welcome sound in this list. Pretty straight forward hard rock... it sounds as if Kix took the Black Crowes singer. Everything is pretty energetic and fun, reasonably melodic and has a good driving beat. Rounding up a little bit.
There's being late to the party - and then there's turning up 20 years after it finished.
This isn’t a bad album, but for something that comes out in 2009 it sounds too much like it’s 70’s influences to be anything that special in my view. If I’m going to listen to hard rock I’d rather listen to the classics than this.
It felt like the soundtrack of a G-rated sport movie and I think I liked it
This would've fit perfectly among my cassette tapes in college. I would've put it in my walkman for my commute to campus and play it every day. I loved this rocking good time.
This is the sort of hard rock I can really get into, and get into it I did. There are certainly lots of other more well-known options for this kind of music but this served me well to rock out this afternoon. Fun and a very enjoyable listen!
This was a perfectly serviceable, well-played hard rock album, although it seems late to the game without adding anything new to the genre.
Agree with everyone who says this album looks like it’s going to suck so hard because of this ridiculous album cover. But was pleasantly surprised to hear some quality hard rock that I can headbang a bit to. Rock on!
Uninspiring and generic Hard Rock with mediocre songs.
fun rock i enjoyed more than i thought i would, does go a bit Nickleback at times 2.6
80s hair metal lives on down under. This is nothing particularly special but was a fun listen. The run of enjoyable albums continues. Rating: 3.5 Playlist track: Game of Fools Date listened: 22/08/24
Rating: 6/10
Like progress never happened
This was a pretty wild album. From the album cover I assumed it was going to be kind of trash. Then when it started it and I had my bootcut jeans on and spiked my hair and rocked out. This is the perfect music for your dive bar. It’s not great but it has its moments where it’s plenty of fun. This gives Nickelback a run for their money. 6.4/10
Hard rock. Me ha gustado, un 4.
Some solid hard rock, pleasant to listen to.
This album is a fairly straightforward hard rock album with touches of hair metal and glam thrown in. The musicianship is fine and the singer has a great voice for the genre. The lyrics weren’t great however and this album came out 25-30 years too late. There is nothing unique about this album.
