Very little I found enjoyable in this album. From country sounds to generic synth, just seemed to represent the worst of the 80s. Not sure why this is so acclaimed.
Knew Bang a Gong. Pretty standard early 70's sound with some bluesy riffs. Lyrics mostly nonsense, annoying at times.
Already knew this album. Sympathy for the Devil alone makes this a fantastic album.
Has that 60s folky vibe. Appreciate the influence, but too many la la las. Not my style for this era.
Listened to Ocean off and on. Strong album, with some great tracks. Not my usual style/genre
Fantastic album. Can definitely see the influence that they expand on in later albums.
So good. Plenty of that dirty 60's sound, strong vocals, and amplified jug. Roller Coaster is my favorite of the album.
Melted into the background a bit. Pretty subdued pop rock sound. Definitely some Bowie influences. Pleasant, but nothing special.
Great album. Everyone knows this one.
I had only really listened to We Got the Beat. The rest of the album was surprisingly solid. Feels like there were some punk rock influences underneath an otherwise bright sound.
Decent punk album that clearly served as an inspiration for later bands. Nothing overly standout. Very short album at only about 21 minutes, but on brand for punk songs.
Good overall. Some very Talking Heads bits throughout. Not one that I would listen to with regularity.
For whatever reason, I went into this album assuming I wouldn't like it. I was wrong and ended up really liking the chilled, almost indie, sound.
Good album. Not my favorite from Mayfield.
Found this album after watching The Night House for the use of Calvary Cross. Calvary Cross is easily the best on the album, but decent overall (minus Beggar's Girl).
Nothing inherently wrong with the album. I just don't like Rod Stewart.
Great sound. Not sure why this is not higher on her popular albums.
No idea why of all the Bowie albums this one is featured on the list. This may be my least favorite of them all and offers little to nothing new or influential compared to other albums.
Overall good album. Iggy never quite did it for me, but I can appreciate the songs.
It's Byrds. Mix of some weird psychedelic stuff with bland storytelling.
Couple heavy riffs, pissed, melodic vocals. Really liked this one.
Hard to believe that this was his first big album. He had already developed storylines and personas that appeared in later albums. Not a huge Eminem fan, but solid album.
Never have I looked up the supposed story of Tommy. It is bonkers. I've listened before without really paying attention and the album is much better knowing the rough storyline.
For not being a huge Thin Lizzy fan this live album has a lot of energy. Still in Love with You and Emerald are great on this album.
Very little I found enjoyable in this album. From country sounds to generic synth, just seemed to represent the worst of the 80s. Not sure why this is so acclaimed.
I like the beats on the album, less crazy about the vocals. For whatever reason I never developed an appreciation for that 90s R&B and rap sound.
Hard to stand listening to the song We Are Family at this point. Rest of the album is boring.
Nothing spectacular. I generally like live Who albums since I like the crowd interaction and their demeanor, but music on this one just isn't that special. With that said, the sound is good for a live album.
Nice alternative band. Good non-tuned type sound with lots of feedback and spacey vocals.
Feels like a children's school album. Would much prefer listening to Simon and Garfunkel. This has all my least favorite of the 80s elements in the album.
Great new wave/garage sound. Really liked the tempo of the whole album.
I don't listen to the National often, but enjoyed this album. They aren't super dynamic, but what they do they do it well. Bloodbuzz is obviously a standout, but also liked Anyone's Ghost and Conversation 16.
Good mix of that new wave punk. Few good tracks and a short album.
Bit of a darker sounding album, lots of intense songs. Really liked it.
Definitely not my favorite from R.E.M. Nothing really stood out.
Interesting to hear where This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us came from. Very odd album overall, but kind of fun.
Good album. For some reason I recalled this one being more dynamic vocally, but still powerful.
Tiny Dancer is obviously great and Madman is also good. Indian Sunset is certainly a product of the times.
Always a good album. One of the few rap albums I like entire thing.
Pretty much love everything Alex Turner does, so this was great.
Not an overly special new wave type album. A lot of songs with a short run time.
Pretty good for a new wave 80s album. Treason and Second Hand are good songs.
Not sure why this is the album to make this list. It's fine, nothing standout.
Interesting listen. Seemed like at least one of the songs was maybe a traditional song that served as the inspiration to A Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Very much enjoy Avalanches. Not crazy about the expanded deluxe version of this album, but the standard stuff is great.
Interesting to get a soundtrack. I liked the hook used in the electronic tracks and the last track is a cool sounding summary of the story.
Nothing wrong with, just have to be in a mood for it.
Punk albums are a mixed bag. I like the raw element to them, but production always seems lacking, even when intentionally rough sounding. I want to like it more, but it's just good.
Hard to believe how old this album is considering how many synthwave albums there are now. Great sound.
Not a big Dylan fan. I found a few on here I liked, but so much is just nonsense folk music.
I really wanted to like this. Weird industrial type rock and a lot of noise is always good, but something about the repetition of the backing track just gave me a headache.
Very enjoyable listen. Unique styling and some powerful songs.
Paper Bag and Human were great. Definitely a mix of like a Bond theme and cabaret. Pretty good.
This was a weird album with and often weird cadence, almost like marching music. Kate really likes to exaggerate her voice, which also adds to the weird.
One of my first experiences with "heavy" music was this album. Don't quite remember All in the Family being as bad as it was, but still a good album.
Fun beat, but overly long with very little distinction between songs.
Hazy Shade of Winter and America are great songs, but not enough to save the album for me.
Annoying that most of this album is not on Spotify, but easy enough to listen. I like the sound, but sort of generic. Not sure what makes this one a standout.
Few decent songs, but just couldn't get fully into it.
There are some all-time songs on the album. Won't Get Fooled Again is incredible and Baba O'Riley is a favorite for most.
I like this one more than most rap albums of the same time. Still not totally my music, but have to respect the production and lyrics.
Excellent album. Impossible not to feel good listening.
Some classic songs on the White Album, but I feel it is overly long with too many of the weird concept songs to listen all the way through on a regular basis.
The symphony element to all of these songs is awesome. Very enjoyable listen.
Beck is good in small doses, like sprinkled through a playlist. Listening to a full album is like sitting in a Guitar Center and listening to kids try every setting on a synth.
Good energy. Started sounding like a standard punk album, but had a few interesting songs
Never my favorite band, but decent songs and a lot of energy. Detroit Rock City is great, everything else is decent.
I have listened to this one many times. Good album.
Not a fan of Costello. That said, not a bad album.
Surprisingly fun album. Some dark lyrics and samples mixed in to an upbeat sound.
Good 60s rock, but pretty standard 60s rock (when they actually play). The story time pieces of the album are bizarre, and not in a good way.
Couple great songs. Otherwise listening to a double album can get long.
This seems to happen a lot - why is this the album that makes the list? It's good and I am sure there are more from Foo Fighters on the list, but this one doesn't highlight a lot of what has made Foo Fighters so great.
I can respect what he's doing, but the self-important talk singing just doesn't hold a lot of appeal for me.
I used to love the Doors when I was younger. I can't say I like them as much, but Break on Through and The End are still great songs.
The Weight is still a great song. Rest of the album is okay.
I almost want to dislike it, but it's good. Almost every song is catchy and varied enough to keep the album interesting.
Felt like I would have liked this more, but it just didn't grab me for most of the album.
This is the third Arcade Fire album I have gotten on this list. They're a good band, but I don't know about three albums out of 1,001. That said, this is another good album.
Relaxing album, even if I was eaten by flies while listening.
Cool electronic album. Lot of dark tones and use of static voices
The cover of Hurt gets a 5, rest of the album not so much.
Actually never listened to this full album. It's really good.
I would guess Can't Buy a Thrill is in the list, but still not sure why this the pick. Just seemed a little bland
Great sound. Lorde still not one of my favorite. Pure Heroine is probably the better overall album.
I have enjoyed most of the 90s electronic albums on this list so far. Not so much for this one.
This album is ridiculously good. Especially for a debut.
Quite possibly my favorite album of all time.
Better Dylan than most albums, but still not super interesting.
Solid album. Little weird to have it come up the day after the Queen actually dies
I used to listen to the song Schools Out when I was younger. Rest of the album doesn't match the energy.
Friends would probably be mad, but I just do not like the Beastie Boys
Listened to this one a lot growing up.
Don't care much for jazz, but it was good jazz
No hate to Ryan Adams but this album has no business on this list. This is so generic and boring that it is hard to imagine why anyone would need to listen to this. I can only imagine this became culturally significant given it's release around 9/11.
I like the Cure, just not too many standouts on this album.
Short album, but it is packed with either independently awesome songs or the bases for covers
Season of the Witch is great. Rest of album is good
16 year old me probably would have been obsessed with this album. Still enjoyable.
Nothing wrong it, just plain. Come on Eileen isn't enough to save a whole album.
Respect for the old country. Still not something I would go back and listen to
Enjoyed at times, but honestly maybe a little long for the genre
Not bad, but yet another 90s electronic-type album. Not sure why there are so many
Pretty decent. I don't think it's an album that everyone needs to hear, though
I must not be cool enough to understand this album. It makes sense that it's weird with Byrne involved, but just too much for me.
Better than the other Dylan albums so far
It's Ren Fair-Rock with songs mixed in that have nothing to do with the medieval themes. It doesn't sound bad, but an odd album.
Doesn't do much for me. Maybe a song or two, but the whole album is a bit much of the same.
I somehow did not know this band did Stay with Me and not just Rod Stewart. Recognized vocals immediately on starting the album.
It's just boring. Just makes we want to listen to proper Pink Floyd
Strange album. Kind of all over the place from a style perspective.
I think I liked it enough. May be worth another listen
It's interesting and pretty much sounds like the stock music to every movie set in India. Not something I would listen to on a regular basis.
Very solid album. This is my sweet spot, so probably biased.
Good album. I had never really listened to anything but the hits and Me and Bobby McGee never really did it for me. This was pretty good.
Enjoyable album. Maybe not a must-hear. Had a Coldplay vibe to it.
Generally dislike Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. I can only handle the sound for so long.
Good 80s album. Not something I would listen to on a regular basis
Really great collection of songs and you get some jokes from Cobain.
Kind of a weird one. Restrained punk sound with a bit more melody than you would expect.
I don't listen to Taylor Swift very often. Didn't know she had an album this somber
I really just don't care about early 90s hip hop.
Awful album. An occasionally interesting hook, but didn't enjoy the vast majority of this album.
Never really gave Def Leppard a chance. Thought it was lame, but that was actually a pretty good album
I can't stand Christmas music, but if I am going to listen to it, this is probably the best of it.
This would have been a blast to attend, but limited appeal on an album
Not pure electronic, but yet another 90s electronic album
Oh look, another 90s electronic album
Somewhat interesting. Liked some of it, some was irritating. Mostly unhinged
Just doesn't do anything for me. It all sounds similar and very sappy lyrics
Better than I expected. Surprised there is nothing mentioning that the song "Back Down" just uses Goblin's "Suspira" as a backing track.
A few good Joel songs. Just hard to listen to a straight album of Joel
Not even the worst one, but continuing to strike down the multitude of 90s electronic on this list.
