Popular Reviews

Ray Of Light by Madonna

Honestly, far better than I expected it to be! Some good classics on here, and I would give it a 5 star rating if it weren't for how bad Little Star is...

This is such a great album, and what every live album should aspire to be. We should all be grateful that this album was recorded before it was too late.

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers

Didn't know what sounds like a smalltown bar karaoke performance is one of the 1001 albums I have to listen to. Is it just to appreciate that other music is better? Did not finish.

1-Star Albums (17)

All Ratings (126)

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Jan 13 2021

Pretty good, very Beatles-esque. Had a few songs that I swore I must have heard before, but I'm not sure where that could have possibly been.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Jan 14 2021

Outside of background music while doing something else, I don't see the appeal...

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jan 15 2021
Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jan 18 2021

The first half of this album was great, but then it sort of...got worse. I was a little disappointed by it, but it's still not bad.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 20 2021

Over too soon! Short, sweet, and classic!

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Aug 18 2025

Show Some Respect was a good track, but otherwise this album is not for me. I can maybe understand how it was somewhat revolutionary for it's time, but I can't ever see myself going out of my way to listen to this. The extended remixes in the remaster weren't really necessary: I couldn't really tell the difference from the original versions (but maybe a seasoned listener could!)

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Aug 19 2025

As expected. Maybe blasphemous, but not my jam!

Calenture by The Triffids
Aug 20 2025

It was fine.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 22 2025

Honestly, this is pretty good! I like the funk, and skill is very on display here! Another short album, but that gives me more time to listen to other music!

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Aug 25 2025

It's for some reason not what I thought it would be, and exactly what I expected. I don't think I've ever actively listened to Radiohead before, and based on this, it will likely stay this way. I can't imagine a situation where I'd want to listen to this band: if I'm ever in the mood, Muse seems to do it better.

The Dreaming by Kate Bush
Aug 27 2025

What on earth is this? Felt like I walked into a circus. A point for originality, though.

Faith by George Michael
Aug 28 2025
Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Aug 29 2025

Something about this really rubbed me the wrong way...the sounds in this album were just grating. Could not finish it.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Sep 01 2025

Absolutely not for me: I did finish it, though. Big dislike (though the last song wasn't terrible).

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Sep 03 2025

Oh, only 5 songs. Oh, these are long! Not a terrible listen, but I would never choose to listen to this.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen by The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Sep 04 2025

Pretty good, but it slipped by quickly. Not sure if I'd ever recognize a song...maybe I should give this another listen.

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Sep 05 2025

Surprised by this one, honestly!

Rio by Duran Duran
Sep 09 2025

Fine.

Sep 15 2025

I was considering just skipping this, but there are actually some bangers that I recognized on here! Big Iron was already in my Saved Library, hilariously, and I had no idea that was this album. Very surprised at the quality of this album, give it a chance!

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Sep 16 2025

Great: loved it then, loved it now. I absolutely can see why they took off!

21 by Adele
Sep 17 2025

While she can sing, this was absolutely not my cup of tea.

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Sep 18 2025

That first track was way too long and will haunt my dreams.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Sep 19 2025

The best way I can describe this album is that it makes me feel carsick without being in a car.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Sep 22 2025

OK, THIS is why the band is so well regarded. I always thought I enjoyed them, but didn't think them as anything super spectacular. This is something special, however!

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Sep 23 2025

I understand why this is important, but it's not for me.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Oct 06 2025

Surprisingly (to me) good! The unexpected cover song threw me and I had to double-check that it wasn't the original.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Oct 07 2025

Ugh, I've always disliked Linkin Park. ... After giving it a try, I still feel the same. I understand that this is an important album for many people as it serves as a sort of "intro" to a lot of genres, but outside of its impact, I just don't think it's good music. It's like how training wheels are useful on a bike, but no "good" bike has training wheels on them.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Oct 08 2025

Largely forgettable middle, but great opener and finisher.

Oct 09 2025

This was way better than I thought it would be! I'm definitely going to be listening to this again.

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Oct 10 2025

Not bad. Very background music. Not sure why it's on this list, though.

Revolver by Beatles
Oct 13 2025

Not as great as their others, but still OK.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 20 2025

noo-haw. could not finish.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Oct 25 2025

Not as bad as I thought this was going to be...I expected something more like Kid Rock, and I got something more like Queen.

The Slider by T. Rex
Oct 25 2025

I like their sound, but they are extremely repetitive.

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Oct 26 2025

Quite boring. Why is this on here?

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Oct 28 2025

Honestly, not terrible, just terribly boring. It might just be bad luck that this came up after three boring albums in a row. Did not finish.

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Oct 29 2025

Yeah, boyeeeeee! This is what I'm talking about! Finally something good after that drought.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Nov 01 2025

Blink and it's gone. Very whatever.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Nov 02 2025

Not bad. Would likely listen to again.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Nov 04 2025

Had low expectations, but it really helped me focus on writing. So I guess it was good?

High Violet by The National
Nov 05 2025

This was fine.

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Nov 06 2025

Started off strong, but wow repetitive. It was fine. The first song is a cover, on top of that!

American Pie by Don McLean
Nov 07 2025

American Pie was great. Babylon was also kind good. The album was never worse than medium.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Nov 09 2025

This feels like a crime, but...honestly it was just OK.

Pump by Aerosmith
Nov 10 2025

Wow, I did not expect to hate this SO MUCH. Couldn't finish it.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Nov 11 2025

I listened to far too much of this album, as I sighed to myself, returning to my work computer after my far too short break, working at the job that I need to have to pay for my house, so that my family is supported, and maybe they don't have to experience the crushing of the...9 to 5....twing twang twing guitar solo God, how irritating. I understand activism is important, but at least make the music sound good. Made it 80% of the way through.

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Nov 17 2025

As a whole, it's OK, but a couple of tracks like The Killing Moon are great!

Nov 18 2025

Did not like the first half, but the last few tracks sort of grew on me (specifically, Of Moons, Birds & Monsters).

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Nov 19 2025

While Cry Me a River is a classic, this is honestly pretty bad. Did not finish.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Nov 22 2025

For some reason, not too offensive? I would never ever choose to listen to this though.

American Gothic by David Ackles
Nov 23 2025

There is NO WAY that this belongs on this list. On top of that, terrible, and could not finish.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Nov 25 2025

You know how people like good music? What if we made it not that way? Did not finish.

Dog Man Star by Suede
Nov 26 2025

Very boring, but not awful.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Nov 29 2025

I always forget how hard they can rock.

Kenza by Khaled
Nov 30 2025
Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Dec 02 2025

Feels like a worse version of many bands that already exist. Not absolutely terrible, but I did not finish.

Let It Be by The Replacements
Dec 03 2025

Not good. Almost finished it, but it's just not good.

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
Dec 04 2025

Only let this finish because I was too busy to change the album.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Dec 06 2025

Surprising! I had never thought twice about the Green Onions song, but it's neat to just stumble upon it. Nice little instrumental album.

Orbital 2 by Orbital
Dec 07 2025

Strange, but not bad. Would never choose to listen to this, though.

Dec 10 2025

I think I listened to this a while ago and forgot to review it. Knowing this, I happily listened to it again. The title track at the end gives me the chills!

Odessa by Bee Gees
Dec 11 2025

Not what I expected. Not sure how to rate this...

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Dec 14 2025

You can definitely see how amazing bands like The Mars Volta drew inspiration from this great album. Excellent work.

Live / Dead by Grateful Dead
Dec 23 2025

Not what I thought it would be...I thought it would be terrible, but it was alright. Am I just getting old?

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Dec 24 2025

I wish I listened to this decades ago. I feel like it is no longer novel or unique, so it's hard for me to rate it fairly. Nothing in particular stands out, but this is entirely my kind of music.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Dec 28 2025

Hey, pretty good! I believe the big influence they've had on other bands due to how familiar they sound.

Ray Of Light by Madonna
Jan 09 2026

Honestly, far better than I expected it to be! Some good classics on here, and I would give it a 5 star rating if it weren't for how bad Little Star is...

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jan 10 2026

Not my jam. I really tried to finish it, so I skipped ahead to their most listened song on this album on Spotify, and hey! I know this song, it isn't bad! So I went back and finished the album. One good song, thirteen not my jams.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jan 11 2026

I don't know these guys, but this wasn't a bad album. However, I'm not sure why it's on this list.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jan 12 2026

This is AMAZING. Everyone should listen to this album.

Melodrama by Lorde
Jan 13 2026

A lot more pop-like than I thought it would be.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jan 16 2026

I only finished this because I was too lazy to change it. It wasn't offensive, at least.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jan 18 2026
Basket of Light by Pentangle
Jan 19 2026

There is no reason for this album to be on this list either. Could not finish it.

Jan 20 2026

This is such a great album, and what every live album should aspire to be. We should all be grateful that this album was recorded before it was too late.

Ramones by Ramones
Jan 23 2026

Legendary.

Kid A by Radiohead
Jan 24 2026

I don't know why this didn't click: really thought it would.

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Jan 28 2026

Didn't know what sounds like a smalltown bar karaoke performance is one of the 1001 albums I have to listen to. Is it just to appreciate that other music is better? Did not finish.

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Jan 29 2026

This was WAY ahead of its time.

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Feb 12 2026

As bad as I expected. Did not finish.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Feb 14 2026

Honestly, other than the main ones, not that great: sort of surprised!

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Feb 15 2026
Future Days by Can
Feb 20 2026

Very whatever background music; shouldn't be on here.

Blur by Blur
Feb 21 2026
Brothers by The Black Keys
Feb 28 2026

Was sorta disappointed by this one. A little boring.

No Other by Gene Clark
Mar 02 2026

I do not understand why many of these albums are on here. I'm going to be stricter with my ratings going forward.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Mar 05 2026

This was a lot better than it had any business to be!
