Songs For Swingin' Lovers!
Frank SinatraIt’s just good music. Sinatra is known for a reason. Very solid jazz album.
It’s just good music. Sinatra is known for a reason. Very solid jazz album.
This album has a crazy amount of variety and pulls from many different genres. I can see why people would be put off by this album but it was a very enjoyable experience. It uses so many different styles of instruments and has good vocals to match.
Catchy and good songs.
Very interesting, I am a fan of Jamiroquai’s vocal style and the upbeat feeling throughout the album with some “slow song” breaks. Definitely a good album to jam out to. Tapers off as it goes, but string overall.
At its worst, this album sounds like it’s made in a garage and posted to SoundCloud after being edited on a Mac. At its best, this album is a masterpiece of modern psychedelic rock and pop. The good definitely outweighs the bad, I really enjoyed this album.
This is a very personal bias, but I cannot fucking STAND how old albums are mixed like this one. Each instrument and voice shouldn’t be in a different ear. It instantly pisses me off. That being said, I didn’t actively dislike any of the songs on this album, but it got repetitive fast. Good but not great.
Wow. This album was something else. The only thing wrong with this album is that it makes me feel stupid for not listening to more Beach House sooner. Listening to it at 2AM definitely helps haha. Not a single bad song. Phenomenal album filled with emotion.
This album makes me want to fire pot shots at the LAPD 👍
Damn solid album, need to listen to more Public Enemy. Crazy samples too.
A bunch of babes making great 80’s pop-rock.
It’s a good three, don’t get me wrong, but the second half of the album, when it gets slower, is not as good as the great first half. The first half of The Black Keys doing what they do best.
The fact that the worst song takes up 10 out of the 35 minutes is inexcusable, but the rest of it is a solid early punk album.
This album suffers heavily from “nothing special” syndrome. I was a pretty big fan of the first two songs, but the album just remained sounding the same. Eventually it got boring and started sounding the same.
It was Ight. Had some pretty damn good songs but nothing blew me away. Solid three, but still a three. B side was better.
Just a solid late 50’s jazz album.
This was just not for me I guess. This wasn’t an enjoyable listen. It just felt boring. Most of the songs felt the same and blended into an hour and twenty minute slog fest. Trim half the songs to make it the best half and only forty minutes and I’d rate it higher.
Slower than I expected, but a very solid listen.
Very solid. I’m still on the fence about the sound of the vocals, but still very solid.
Pretty good at times, very annoying sometimes as well. Overall pretty average.
It’s pretty decent, I’ve just discovered that I am not a 90’s rap guy.
Such a WEIRD fucking album, but good weird. I can’t even give this album a genre. I went into this with zero expectations because of the album cover, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
Simple, but good simple. Just a really good album that makes you appreciate how good Joni Mitchell is.
Pretty alright. There’s a lot to like but it seems like there’s nothing special about this album, not a lot that’s great. This album is mostly alright to good. Solid 3
I was honestly very surprised with how much I enjoyed this album. Very solid songs all throughout without one bad song in my opinion. That’s what having Alex Turner will do for you.
Pretty niche genre of not quite pop, not quite rock, not quite electronic, even not quite hip hop in some places. I liked it, but wasn’t crazy about it.
Some to most albums are just collections of songs, this is actually an album album. Phenomenal and peak soul.
I don’t really feel the need to explain myself with this one.
I will give it some acknowledgment, this album is very progressive for 1968. However, it’s overall nothing special for a rock album, especially compared to other artists at the time. Low to mid three.
Very solid. Most previous members of Genesis evolved a great style and made good solo work, Gabriel especially.
I listened to about twelve minutes of this album. This is music Rodrick Heffley would listen to and that’s not a compliment. I actually dig the instrumentals but I cannot fucking stand the vocals. DNF.
Was pleasantly surprised as I usually don’t like live albums. Love Muddy Waters and this is no exception.
Wasn’t a huge fan of the sound, but still a decent album.
Solid album, high three. Some good songs, but it suffers from the same fate as most Songwriter albums, sounding repetitive after a while.
A nice bluesy album. I liked it a lot.
Weird album. They call anything alternative these days haha. I cannot take this guy’s voice seriously sometimes, but good songs even if they get repetitive.
Very good R&B/Soul album. I am a child for laughing at run Charlie run, though.
Pretty solid. Slower than what I’m used to for REM, but still good.
You know the phrase “music transcends language”? They were talking about this album. Just phenomenal. Peak Jazz.
I liked it, I’m not too crazy about the pop rock kind of sound, but I do like Winwood’s voice.
Not my thing. It’s not that the songs were bad per se, I just did not like it. DNF.
Don’t listen to this while driving. This album was awesome.
Weird, but good weird, Bowie’s usual. Solid album, but not his best IMO.
Just a phenomenal album. Still not sure if I prefer this or Hotel California though.
Much better than I was expecting from a one hit wonder. Very solid album. I like the vocal style a lot.
This is mom music and not the good kind. The kind that you had to listen to on the way back from school after a bad day. Pretty boring overall.
I liked some of the songs, but it does NOT justify the hour and twenty minute length.
Underwhelming and overstays its welcome.
I liked it. It had a good mix of slower and upbeat songs. The 29 minute length does leave a bit more to be desired however.
Some pretty good songs. High three, like the sound, but just didn’t strike a chord with me, especially with the 70 minute length.
Low three. I didn’t really vibe with it and it just felt very long. Not bad, but certainly not good either.
Some songs were great, others were just meh. Evens out to a solid three.
Simon and Garfunkel RARELY miss, and this is no exception. Phenomenal album, the only thing wrong with it is that it’s not longer.
I was NOT expecting to like this album this much. Every song was solid and I love the sound of the whole thing. Even the two songs where it’s just a drum solo are good.
Wasn’t too crazy about this one. It’s a high 3, but it didn’t catch me. Plus Touched is terrifying.
Can’t say I’ve listened to Icelandic rock before. Pretty good listen that got better over time in my opinion. I honestly thought they were at their best when they embraced the Icelandic in them.
This is hard. I LOVE where is my mind, but lord this album was bad. It sounded like generic counter culture punk rock. DNF.
DAMN I need to listen to more Rush. This album was great.
Go ahead, tell me I didn’t get this album. I didn’t finish it, nor did I enjoy it. Some of the songs are pretty decent, but they seem to break off in weird ways as soon as I even start to enjoy it. It feels unorganized and all over the place. The whole message is hard to take in when it’s presented like an ASMR video every other track.
Pretty decent, just didn’t click with me. I liked a lot of the songs, but nothing blew me away.
Some of the songs are sonically interesting and sound good, but the album itself is a slow trudge, DNF, but just barely making a three.
Just a great blues album. I don’t like modern live albums but old ones just hit differently.
It’s a product of its time. This is 80’s synth incarnate, for better or for worse. Enjoy the Silence is always going to be good though.
Just repetitive. It has its moments, but it’s not great overall, doesn’t justify the length of most of the songs.
Not my thing. It was alright, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. Some tracks were more interesting than others, but the uninteresting ones bring this one down a decent bit.
Sadly a DNF. I really liked Blue, but this wasn’t for me. I’d say it’s a high 2, but not quite a three. The best of Joni Mitchell weaves her piano and vocals in a way they feel intertwined, but Court and Spark doesn’t do this as well. It has great moments, but doesn’t match up to some of her other works overall.
Just a phenomenal album. Not much else to say, just peak early nineties hip hop.
I was going to give this a three, but the second half was MUCH better than the first. The mixing is annoying (as per usual for me), but really good songs.
The Grateful Dead has a very unique mix of genres that leads to them having a very distinct sound… that works well with some songs more than others.
I tried. I even gave it the benefit of the doubt because I liked the second track, but the rest just wasn’t good. DNF and I don’t plan too.
Duran Duran are the masters of new wave and this album is no different. Phenomenal.
Extremely surprising for a live album. Phenomenal. My only gripe with it is that it isn’t longer.
A very solid album, although not The Smiths best in my opinion. Obligatory Morrissey is a twat.
Honestly disappointing compared to some of his other works. It’s just okay and that’s not a compliment.
Surprisingly good, I’ve never heard of Echo and the Bunnymen, but I’ll definitely be looking into them after this album.
A very solid album. Not quite a 5 but a solid 4. Every song sounds different and has a unique feel to it.
I feel like if David Byrne sang for any other band, it would sound awful. But, the talking heads somehow make it work. Solid.
Good Jazz album, but not for me. It’s a bit too slow and less structured for my taste. Some people might say that’s just what Jazz is but whatever.
Wow, this was honestly a HUGE improvement over It Takes a Nation in my opinion. Every track was great and filled with energy.
High 4, but not quite a 5 in my opinion. I feel like it will definitely grow on me, I enjoyed it a decent bit, but it didn’t blow me away. I’ll give it another listen some day, but for now, I’m sticking with my rating.
I’m pretty mad I don’t want to give this a 5. The first four songs were peak Aerosmith and then the rest was just good, not great, but good.
CCR is just that good. Phenomenal but short rock album that just leaves me wanting more.
A very sad but high three. The first three songs were phenomenal but the rest of the album was just good, disappointing compared to the beginning.
A high three, but it makes me annoyed that this album falls under the “great at first and then declines” category. Either way, not bad at all.
Very solid album. I’m usually picky with my taste in Jazz, but this turned out very nice.
A solid 4. Every song was different and unique, which The Bee Gees use to their benefit… most of the time.
A very different sounding album. LCD Soundsystem has a very unique sound to his work and although the songs are long, they don’t overstay their welcome.
It was alright. I am starting to realize that I don’t like folky singer/songwriter music that much.
An interesting album but one that I was not crazy about. It’s definitely serviceable, but nothing special in my opinion.
High four, not quite a five. This album rocks, but the long length works both in its favor and against it. Hetfield’s vocals are also a bit weaker on this album, but that’s to be expected with a live album. That being said, this album is AMAZINGLY put together for a live album.
A very progressive album for 1967. It’s got some highs and some lows, along with god awful mixing because it’s old, but it’s a good album, I liked it.
A MUCH better album than Surfer Rosa in my opinion. I’m still not crazy for The Pixies, but a mid to high three for me.
I was honestly slightly disappointed in this album and I say that as a Bowie enjoyer. I think this is one of his weaker works (granted he pumped out a lot of albums), but it’s still enjoyable.
Bowie has his highs and lows in his career, but this is definitely a high. A very good album and shows just how good Bowie was considering he was more than forty years into his career when this released.
It’s a pretty good album, but it’s 75 minutes long. It overstays its welcome and then some. Most of the songs have a similar sound which doesn’t help the length.
Solid album. It definitely has variety even if some songs are stronger than others.
This album has a TON of variety. I got faked out because I didn’t like the first two songs that much, but this is a pretty good album.
Steely Dan just has a great jazzy rock sound that is always welcome to hear. Very solid album.
Leb’ Wohl is a bit too long and I don’t like the vocals. That’s about all I have against the album, it’s very good.
This album sucks. I wouldn’t call myself a metal aficionado, but the vocals were bad, the instrumentals were uninspiring, and the production made it sound worse. DNF.
If I had to describe this album in two words, they would be rough and dynamic. No two songs on The Downward Spiral sound the same. This was a great listen and it gives me great confidence that NIN will do a good job with Tron.
Not the biggest punk rock guy, but this is a pretty good album. My biggest complaint is how it can sound repetitive after a while, given its hour long length.
This album has a very unique and nice sound that makes me want to give it four stars, but the short length and the slight repetitiveness keeps it at a three for me, a good one, but a three.
Pretty boring. Some of the instrumentals are nice but the vocals are uninspiring. Not my style.
I’m not the biggest country guy but this was an alright album. Yoakam does have a really nice voice.
There’s definitely some parts to like with the instrumentals, but I can’t get past Waits’ vocals. It sounds like he’s TRYING to have the cigarette smoking blues singer voice, but it doesn’t land well. Not my style, DNF.
Prince might be the most horny musical genius there ever was. I was in a massive traffic jam while listening and it made it slightly better.
I went in with high hopes knowing how much I love the track superstition, but I was slightly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, Wonder is a tremendous song writer, but I think this album just wasn’t quite for me, although it was good.
A high three. This album has FANTASTIC moments and some great instrumentals, but as a whole, it’s lacking. Collin’s vocals don’t really add a lot to it in my opinion either.
This album definitely suffers from its length. It has a very unique mix of elements from different genres, but none of the songs really stood out to me.
Pretty good. The instrumentals are basic but charming. The lead singer’s voice, though, can get really annoying at some moments. This album does not feel like a 2003 release a lot of the time though, it definitely has a more 80’s rock sound a lot of the time.
There is a lot to like about this album. Sure, Adele’s singer/songwriter piano songs can become a little stale throughout the 48 minute runtime, but there are other songs, especially Send my Love, that mix up the formula. Her vocals are always impressive as well.
A very interesting album with a pleasing sound to it. I have no idea how to classify this album (or what they are saying), but it was very dreamy at times.
A pretty good indie rock album, it’s a high three for me. It didn’t really captivate me in any big way, but it’s still good music, I liked it.
It was serviceable. I think the vocals were pretty annoying and the instrumentals weren’t my style, but it was okay. I don’t think it deserves to be grouped with the twos.
I love how grandiose this album sounds, even the slower songs aren’t quiet per se. It’s a very solid singer/songwriter album with influences from other genres as well.
Peak early 90’s hip hop. This album is great and will actually make you laugh with the sections of the clan just talking. It is interesting though how I tend to dislike their solo albums, it’s like when they come together, they are so much better.
Comparing this album to American Idiot, I think AI has better production, but Dookie has more soul. Overall I think I like the songs on Dookie better, good stuff.
Starting off, I didn’t think I’d give this a four, but this was a very enjoyable listen. Spence has a very nice voice and the slow but good instrumentals match it very well.
This was not for me. The beats didn’t really have anything going for them and neither do the vocals. DNF.
This album was a ride, didn’t realize that Le Freak was on this LP as well. It has great variety and a pleasing sound.
This album left me with a lot of questions. This is 1968? Why was this so good? Why are three of the four songs more than eight and a half minutes? How many instruments does he know how to play?
This album is unashamedly electronic. Even the songs with samples and/or lyrics in them don’t shy away from their electronic roots. Great variety and very well produced.
Fitzgerald’s voice is angelic, but that’s about the only thing going for this album. The instrumentals and the melodies are pretty shallow and get old very quickly. DNF.
Disappointing, especially considering that Karma Chameleon is on this album. All the songs sounded very similar and not good. DNF.
This album is fantastic. Womack’s vocals and his great instrumentals make this a great soul filled funky listen.
Although I do like Morrison’s vocals, there isn’t a lot that stands out on this LP compared to a lot of other projects during the same era/in the same genre. Pretty alright overall though.
Granted, this may be biased due to my love of Christmas music and the fact that I listened to this on November First, but it’s just one of the most reliable Christmas albums, period. It’s consistently great and definitely nostalgic.
Chic definitely has a style that is definitively theirs, but I don’t think it shines here as much as it does in C’est Chic. Some of the songs drag on a lot, but it was an enjoyable listen.
This wasn’t for me. The beats were serviceable, but there’s a lot to desire in the vocals. There just doesn’t seem to be much substance to this album. DNF.
This was just boring. There isn’t much going for it besides some nice sounding instrumentals, but they are few and far between. The vocals are not good and actively drag this album down. DNF.
This was a very solid album. I was not familiar with the Fugees before this, but I’ll have to listen to more of them. They have a very nice and unique sound to their beats and vocals.
Great album, but far from the Beatles’ best. There are plenty of Beatles albums I’d rather listen to, but I think that says more about the Beatles discography being phenomenal rather than this album being bad, far from it.
You can listen to each song for only a minute and get the picture. It feels like every song is repetitive and way longer than it needs to be, and not in a good way. The instrumentals were alright but the vocals were boring. DNF.
I don’t know exactly what to call this album in terms of genre, but it was pretty damn good. Doesn’t overstay its welcome for most to all of the songs, along with the songs ranging in terms of energy and style.
Absolutely crazy that this album came out in 76. It is weird, but good weird. It is unashamedly electronic, which works both in its favor and against it, but mostly for it.
Gaye is just great. I don’t think this is his best work, but that’s not saying much. This was a nice smooth experience, reminding me I need to listen to more of him.
It was pretty good, but not for me. The production was fantastic and is objectively well put together, but I just didn’t really enjoy it that much.
A very energetic album. There’s one emotion and it’s rage. It can feel like a bit much sometimes, but it’s still a solid album, didn’t expect to like it.
Am I really going to rate a country album I’ve never heard of a five stars? Yes I am. Country has many sub genres, and although I don’t know what to call this one, I love it. Lang’s voice is just phenomenal.
Nothing special. It’s definitely serviceable as an album, but it wasn’t my style. There’s just not a lot to like, but also not a lot to dislike. It’s perfectly at the middle of the road.
I just can’t really get into The Police. I like them in moderation, but listening to an entire album can get old quickly. The same can be said for Sting’s vocals in specific as well.
The rap rock genre has a big quality range, and this is high quality stuff. Although the sound of the album can get a bit repetitive over time, this LP was a fun and energetic listen, not to mention the two great singles.
This album has higher highs but lower lows than bone machine. I think Waits’ voice is less forced in this album, but I’m still not a fan. DNF.
It was good, it just struggles to compare to a lot of other albums that released in the same era by similar groups. The vocals can get a bit old but the instrumentals are charming.
High three, but not quite a four. There’s a lot of variety in this album, and Crow’s voice is very nice, but the quality between songs can rise and fall a fair bit. Overall pretty good on average.
Morissette poured her heart into ever song on this album. It has a lot of variety while still staying a quality LP. At times it can feel veeeeeery nineties, but it’s not necessarily something against it.
A very solid jazz album. This LP has tremendous production for a fifties album too, it’s possible that it’s been remastered, but it doesn’t explicitly say. All the instruments have their roles and they all play their parts well.
Wasn’t expecting a lot, but this album stayed a consistently good quality throughout. It’s a pretty good rock album that has some energy behind it.
Not enjoyable. Okay at best. The indie sound of this album is diminished when it’s so damn quiet, still it sure if that’s just me. The vocals were pretty boring and the instrumentals didn’t do much for it either. DNF.
This album is new wave incarnate, which works for and against it. Pretty solid over all with some catchy songs. Can get a tad repetitive but it’s not much of a problem with the shorter length.
Better than Talking Book IMO. Wonder’s rhythm shines much better in this album and is just overall a better experience, despite some of the songs feeling lesser quality.
One of the pioneers of modern metal as we know it. This album has so much variety and range that it makes me want to listen again. Black Sabbath is always a treat to listen to.
It was okay. It definitely got better in the second half and it has some good moments, but Walker’s voice doesn’t do much for me. Some of the songs in the first half sounded like parodies of singers like Humperdinck.
Synth heaven. This album is a cacophony of electronic sounds that just work so well together. It’s a shame that this album is short, but it definitely makes the most out of the run time. On a side note, it is INSANE that this 1977.
This album was very weird, but good weird, and that’s exactly what I expected from a Brian Eno and David Byrne production. A lot of the songs were easy listening and ambient while still being rhythmically interesting.
I had no knowledge of this album or Jurassic 5 before this, and I’m sad I didn’t. This album was consistently great throughout and never had a dip in quality. The instrumentals were good, the vocals were good, the samples were good, nothing to not like here.
I definitely like More Songs about Buildings and Food more than this one, but it’s still a good album. They just have such a unique style to them that no one else can replicate.
Very impressive for a solo rock album from 73. I think some of the slower songs drag it down a little considering the album’s length, but still a solid and enjoyable listen.
The instrumentals were okay, but Smith’s voice is just annoying to listen to. None of the songs really captivated me and she sounds whiny. DNF.
I was pleasantly surprised with how I’ve rated some of the other Wu Tang member’s solo albums, but this was fantastic. It had a variety of styles and did not overstay its welcome even though it’s a double LP (at least the extended edition is).
My favorite Radiohead album. This is fantastic and a work of art. Sadly, the only other album that even comes close to the sound of Kid A is some songs off of A Moon Shaped Pool.
I went in expecting a good 50’s jazz album. That’s what I got. David is just good. One of the greats.
It was alright, nothing special. Wasn’t huge on the vocals but some of the instrumentals were good, although I didn’t like the more twangy songs that much.
Not quite for me, but this was VERY different. I can confidently say this is the first album on this generator that sounds medieval at times.
It was pretty good. It can sound repetitive at times but overall it’s a quality rock/new wave album with good instrumentals and vocals.
Pretty good album, I do like some Steely Dan. I think this album has higher highs and lower lows than an album like Aja, but on average is just slightly worse. Still a 4 though.
Just greatness. For a double LP, this album NEVER has a drop in quality, and that quality is GREAT quality. It’s well produced and catchy. It feels less track based than an album like Discovery but it gives this album its own great style.
I don’t know what to call this genre of rock/singer/songwriter, but it’s not my style. It ends up feeling pretty generic and very similar to a lot of other projects. That’s not to say that it’s not a serviceable album, just not for me.
Sneaked into a 5/5 rating from me, but it deserves its spot. The combination of styles from Sinatra and Jobim work exceptionally well. You’d think I’d get tired of hearing The Girl From Ipanema but no.
Pretty solid rock album. It didn’t really have a ton of stuff that makes it stand out amongst the crowd, but a good listen nonetheless, it’s got some good songs. Low 4.
Pretty damn progressive for an album from 1967. The production quality is good too along with the songs being good as well. Pretty good listening experience.
He’s the king for a reason. It’s a very solid album, albeit short. I do like hearing more of Presley’s rocky songs versus some of the ballad sounding songs later in his career, although I do like both.
A very chill listen. I really liked this album and the only reason I’m going to take away a star is that it can feel TOO slow sometimes, making it feel like there’s almost empty space in the music. Maybe it’s intentional, maybe it’s not, but if I’m in the mood for this, it’s a great listen.
It really feels like this album is trying to be different and weird at some points, but not necessarily in a good way. It was okay, I liked some of the songs.
Did not expect reggae rock but here we are. This was a good listen, the few of the album was very unique and had a good sound to it.
A very nice early morning listen. It still has energy while being a bit slower and funkier at times. Haven’t listened to much Dire Straits but I’ll have to listen to more.
I don’t know what it is with the folk/indie rock albums on this list, but they’re not for me. It was alright, I liked a decent bit of the instrumentals, but the album would be better if there were no vocals.
This album has a lot to like. It has a very unique sound and each song is good in its own way. Not really sure what to call this sub genre of rock, but I like it a lot.
Neil Young is consistently good and that does not stop on this album. I doo feel like his style does get old after a while, but the album is short enough to where it doesn’t drag because of it.
I feel like I’ve already listened to this album many many times on this generator. It’s not to say it’s a bad album, it’s decent, I just don’t tend to like the multitude of singer/songwriter albums on this list that much.
There’s a lot to like here, the instrumentals are good, but I’m deducting points for how unbearably noisy it sounds a lot of the time. Maybe it’s the style, but that’s not for me.
Low to mid four. I think it’s the best if Costello’s albums that I’ve listened to on this generator. On a side note, three Costello albums in the first 200 albums generator? It likes this guy a bit too much.
Public Enemy just rocks. This is the third album I’ve gotten from them on this generator for me and it did not disappoint. I think I like Apocalypse 91 a bit more than this, but I don’t think I could give this a four with a good conscience.
This album is crazy in the best way possible. There is so much going on sonically and almost every song is makes you bob your head. A very unique style that pulls from M.I.A.’s Sri Lankan roots as well.
This album has a great amount of rock styles and variety. Every song was good and you can tell there’s a lot of talent on the roster. Solid listen.
Let me start this with “Morrissey is a Twat.” That being said, he makes damn good music. I was skeptical of a solo album without the rest of the Smiths, but it was a very solid album.
Cash just does it better. One of the few artists that I consistently hear people say “I hate (genre), except (artist)” about. A fun and often funny listen that’s simple yet good.
This album has a lot of energy. I usually don’t like this style of vocals, but it compliments the instrumentals very well. I’ll have to listen to more Sex Pistols.
This album lives up to its name. This album is soulful as heaven and Franklin puts her own soul on every track. Enjoyable listen.
Baez is a very talented musician. Her vocals are impressive and pair well with the instrumentals. The album does sound very repetitive though, all the sounds blending into one continuous experience without much variety. I’m just not crazy for singer/songwriter.
A variety of different styles in all parts of the music on a song by song basis. I think the tracks were a bit too short to stick, but it was pretty good.
Although not as good as Kala in my opinion, most of what I said for that album applies here as well. Solid and catchy album.
Not quite a five but close. This was a very enjoyable listen. The songs were fun to listen to while still being sonically interesting. Everyone does their part well.
This was pretty good. I will say that I definitely prefer the more rock based songs rather than some of the more folky ones, as the vocals and instrumentals are better on those. Low 4.
Wilson’s vocals are fantastic and the instrumentals only match them. It’s such a varied album that has a lot of different yet interesting sounds. He deserves to plaster his name on the album cover.
A high three, but not quite a four. This album’s quality jumps around a lot in my opinion, ESPECIALLY the vocals. Some of the songs I liked, some I thought were boring. Evens out though.
I just can’t get into these singer songwriter albums. I don’t know what it is, but they’re just boring to me, especially the vocals.
This album has better singles than an album like Black Sabbath 4, but I feel like the overall quality is a bit lower. Still a very solid album, but not quite a 5 this time around.
This album was a chill but varied listen. It had good variety of styles will still staying true to the same “feel” of the album, with some songs feeling more rocky, folky, etc. Solid four.
Low four. Usually I don’t go for this style of vocals, but I did enjoy this album. I believe I’ve listened to another sonic youth album, and I’d say this one is definitely better.
This is the kind of music that just makes you want to move. This is definitely my style of Latin music and is a quality production overall. Don’t need to understand the lyrics when the music is that good.
A man coping with his own mortality. A great album that’s only better with the sad context. Rest in peace to one of the greatest pop-rock artists of all time.
It didn’t really resonate with me, but it’s definitely a quality album. It has a lot to offer and every track sounds unique and different.
Pretty solid album. Bob Dylan is a hit or miss with me, but that’s to be expected with how many albums he’s put out. This LP is also very progressive for its time, it does not feel like a 65 album.
Terrible. This LP is if someone asked “what if we make an album where it’s just a lot of industrial noises that hurt your ears that have no musical qualities, vocals that have no rhythm and are just screaming half the time, and clashes that somewhat resemble percussion?” And instead of being told, “no, that’s a terrible idea”, they were given a studio.
A mid three. I think it’s not as good as some of Sonic Youth’s other albums as it’s a very mixed bag. Some of the songs are pretty damn good, while others are just noisy and disappointing. Evens out to an alright listen.
This album has a lot more than just funk, despite the name of the artist. A phenomenal listen with impressive instrumentals, especially the guitar.
I usually don’t go for this type of music, but The Dead Kennedys just know how to do it right. The vocals take some time to get adjusted to, but I liked it.
Honestly a little disappointing. Granted, I have high standards for Simon and Garfunkel, but I don’t think they shined as much here as they do in other records.
A bit less jazzy than some other Steely Dan albums, but I like it. It has a more rock feel to it. I’d give it a mid four.
An interesting album, but one that didn’t catch me all too much. The song quality varied a lot on this album as well, some were much better than others.
There’s the Bob Dylan I know. Not for me. It was pretty boring and sounded all the same. Did not like his vocals on this album at all. DNF.
King Crimson is always a treat. Although I may like some of their other productions more, this album is a very interesting and unique mix of instruments and sounds. Mid to high four.
Pretty repetitive, but not bad. It can get old pretty fast and it is not aided by the 56 minute run time. Mid three, it was alright.
Winehouse’s vocals are phenomenal and the instrumentals match them perfectly. The short runtime only makes me want to listen to more from her.
I liked this album. It can feel a tad repetitive at times but it has a lot of soul to it. Overall I think I’d give it a mid four, although some of the tracks are really good.
I was expecting some good reggae going in and it definitely delivered, Marley does not disappoint. It was surprisingly varied, but maybe I just don’t know enough about the genre.
It was alright. I liked a decent bit of the instrumentals, but the vocals dragged the whole thing. The album blends together a lot but not in a good way, it feels very repetitive.
The most interesting and likely the best of the “modern” albums I’ve listened to on this list so far. Every song is sonically pleasing and has a lot to like. It’s a good mix of rock and electronic.
Phenomenal album. Coldplay is just really good, everyone puts in their fair share to make a great production, especially the vocalist. The variety of styles on this record is something to envy.
