Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
The Flaming LipsFunky. Fresh. Futuristic. But also nostalgic. I’d play this album for the aliens.
Funky. Fresh. Futuristic. But also nostalgic. I’d play this album for the aliens.
Raw and powerful lyrics. I enjoy the gospel elements and funky/jazzy moments. A lot of repetitive instrumentals and looped samples, which is typical of rap albums but still annoying at times lol.
So fast-paced, I felt like I needed to rush to go somewhere. Annoying vocals, reminded me of cartoon characters. Too loud, and a lot of the songs sounded very similar. Not my vibe. I need to take a break from the noise.
Funky. Fresh. Futuristic. But also nostalgic. I’d play this album for the aliens.
Makes me want to get up and move. Full of soul and rhythm. Those family harmonies are tight.
Jazzy and soulful. Ella’s voice is so smooth, rich, and colourful. She really knows how to tell a story with her vocals. Her vibrato is delightful. Felt like I was in a posh jazz bar sipping a cocktail.
Not the genre I’d usually listen to, but I appreciate the catchy guitar riffs and gritty vocals. And of course Stairway to Heaven is iconic.
I don’t know if it’s because my frontal lobe is now fully developed, but I’m starting to enjoy jazz. So smooth and soft.
Original, eclectic, sometimes nonsensical. There is nobody like Björk. Her music reflects her creativity and her unique, poetic mind. I love the clarity and rasp in her voice, they both balance each other out well.
Wacky and wild. Bizarre beats. Repetitive. Weird vibes, but I appreciate how different it is. Don’t think I need to listen to this again, once is enough lol.
I often find punk rock overstimulating and aggressive. Like why are you so loud, and do you have anger issues? Not even singing in tune most of the time, and I don’t care for the unnecessarily long instrumentals. Also the lyrics are very questionable.
Oddly whimsical. Floaty falsetto. Makes me want to gather round a campfire with friends and chant and prance around.
Classic country. Dolly’s a great storyteller. Poetic and meaningful lyrics. I love her sweet, soulful voice. It’s tender, yet powerful.
The Beatles will always be groundbreaking and iconic. Not much more to say.
Funky, groovy, soulful. I love Tina’s powerful, raspy voice. Her lower register and higher register are equally strong.
Such a vibe. Funky and groovy, but also expressive and emotional. Really enjoyed this. Had me up and dancing. Love Marvin’s smooth, soulful voice. Also love the background harmonies/adlibs and jazzy instrumentals. Gospel energy. Meaningful lyrics.
A lot going on, I was overwhelmed. Speedy, snappy, and aggressive. Why so much shouting? Not a tuneful melody in sight. Not my thing personally, too hardcore lol. Glad it was short.
Some wacky, random instrumentals. Fun though. Vocals are a bit… flat? Monotone and repetitive. Wish I could have experienced clubbing in the 80s. Probs would have liked this album more if I was older.
Bizarre in an endearing way. Repetitive in an annoying way. A couple cool beats, but won’t need to listen to this twice.
This album surprised me. I like the catchy guitar riffs and layered harmonies in the background. Also the fact that there’s an actual tune and melody (as opposed to just loud noise lol). Also appreciate that the songs aren’t too long or repetitive.
Felt like listening to a musical. Mostly intriguing, sometimes weird. The Beatles vibes. Great storytelling. Love the folk instrumentals and harmonies. Also the album cover looks like Ben Platt and Jonathan Groff lol.
Classic 80s synth pop. Catchy tunes. Not the best vocals but a unique sound.
Noisy. Constantly sounds like Jack’s voice is gonna break any second. Which isn’t surprising as he’s always shouting. Also sounds out of tune most of the time. Some catchy riffs and melodies, and a few mellow/quieter moments. Glad the songs are all quite short.
Man some of these songs are looong. Haven’t heard much like this before though. Refreshing perspective. Some unique sounds and beats, and funky samples. Found it to be monotonous at times, and the lyrics didn’t always make sense/rhymes were a bit odd lol.
This album surprised me. Has a bluesy and sometimes Western feel. Don’t really care for the vocals but liked how each song was really telling a story with the lyrics. Interesting and catchy instrumentals.
High energy, rhythmic flow. I like the pace. Loud though lol, bit much at times. Passionate lyrics, sometimes questionable. Eclectic instrumentals and wacky, weird beats.
Messy and monotonous. Sounds quite grating. Strange instrumentals. Not a fan of the nasally, sloppy vocals. Weird lyrics too lol.
Unlike anything else I’ve heard so far. Uniquely intriguing. Was hooked from the introduction. Big fan of the funky instrumentals and dissonant harmonies. Such a groovy, jungle-like vibe. Also has a nostalgic, dreamy feel that reminds me of summer.
Funky, upbeat. The Beatles vibes sometimes. I like the harmonies. Some odd instrumentals and sounds.
Seem ahead of their time. Nonsensical, poetic lyrics. Fresh perspective. Fun instrumentals. Eclectic, creative feel. Soulful elements. I like how distinctive this is.
Chill vibes. Love the harmonies. I like Gillian’s smooth but powerful vocals. She seems like an old soul. Appreciate the slower paced songs, makes me want to ponder my life. The more upbeat songs are fun, I like the twangy instrumentals. Bit repetitive and long at times.
Love how colourful this album is. Soulful and funky. Such a unique, fun sound. Coconut is wild but I lowkey live for it. Kinda getting Paul Simon vibes.
Dreamy. Really love the vibes. Can imagine playing this album in the summer, chilling in a car with the roof down, feeling the warm breeze. Love the production. Groovy beats. Cool synths. The melodies are so nice to listen to. Kinda giving a cross between Bob Dylan and Sam Fender. Songs are long but I don’t mind that, they keep me hooked. I will listen to this again.
Speak singing? Monotonous. I like the guitar though. Chilled out. Emotional lyrics.
Can’t beat the harmonies and that tight-knit sound. Funky, groovy. Revolutionary.
This album is okay. Classic rhythm and blues. Soulful. I like his husky, gritty voice. Most of the songs are very short. The screaming was a bit distracting.
Pleasant to listen to. Folky and jazzy. Light and airy. I like the orchestral sections too. Poetic lyrics and smooth vocals. Makes me want to go for a walk in the forest. I can imagine some of these songs in a movie soundtrack.
This is okay. Bit slow, bit monotonous. Some cool instrumentals though. Decent voice but can be quite grating at times lol. Most of the songs are too looong.
I LOVE old school rhythm and blues. So much soul and passion. I love that the vocals are soft and smooth, yet gritty and powerful. The background harmonies are great. Catchy guitar riffs.
Their accents make everything funnier, can’t take it seriously. A lot of it is just talking. Too much repetition. I don’t like this album. Not much more to say haha.
A lot of shouting, a lot of repetition. Too long, loud and aggressive for me. Some of the guitar melodies are cool though.
Some bangers. Classic, catchy tunes. I like the melodies and husky vocals. Powerful lyrics.
A whole lot of randomness. The clashing sounds and odd melodies are off-putting. The minor chords are somewhat haunting. Soft vocals, but harsher/grating instrumentals. Also why are the vocals so often out of tune?
Raw and powerful lyrics. I enjoy the gospel elements and funky/jazzy moments. A lot of repetitive instrumentals and looped samples, which is typical of rap albums but still annoying at times lol.
The vocals are often annoying and out of tune lol. Some wacky sounds. Kind of futuristic. Strange. Bit repetitive. Also the songs are too long.
Don’t hate it but also don’t love it. Upbeat, high energy. Sometimes the shouting is a bit much. Some cool guitar riffs. Appreciate the lyrics of ‘Androgynous’ - definitely ahead of its time.
Woah a lot going on. Instrumentals are crazy and distracting. Questionable flow (a lot of just talking) and repetitive verses. Most of the lyrics don’t really make sense. The songs are looong.
I like the chilled vibes and slower pace. Makes a change. The guitar is catchy and fun. Vocals seem a bit flat / lack depth though.
Liked this more than I thought I would lol. Combo of rock, country and soul. Upbeat and lively but also mellow. I love the melodies, harmonies, and backing vocals. Cool lyrics. Also the songs are a good length, not too long.
Strange but endearing. Not sure how to feel about it all to be honest. Some of the songs are looong, and the vocals are quite drawn out and whiny. Would have been cool to have more riffs instead of mostly straight tones. Some fun instrumentals and backing vocals. Some dissonant harmonies which I enjoy. Kinda reminds me of a musical.
This was okay. Nice to have it just playing in the background. Felt like not much was going on, was just building up to something and never reached the peak.
I could only access one song for some reason, but it was unlike anything else I’ve heard. Fresh perspective. Spanish is a pretty language to listen to. I’m getting some Middle Eastern vibes from the vocals and production. The rapping is cool, nice flow.
Sounds messy and noisy. Too loud, too much shouting. I’m overstimulated. Don’t like the nasally, whiny vocals. Not for me.
Bit strange but also a slay. I like the expressive vocals. Lyrics can be quite crude but also fun.
Went on a whole journey. An eclectic mix of styles. Funky and unique. Bowie is his own genre. He knows how to tell a story. Full of soul. Felt like a musical. Quite a bit of repetition though.
Classic, unique. I appreciate the poetic lyrics. Nasal, gritty vocals. Somewhat grating.
So fast-paced, I felt like I needed to rush to go somewhere. Annoying vocals, reminded me of cartoon characters. Too loud, and a lot of the songs sounded very similar. Not my vibe. I need to take a break from the noise.
Chilled, soulful vibes. A lot of the songs sounded similar, but flowed well together. Tracy tells a good story. ‘Fast Car’ is obviously iconic.
These are some looong songs. I can imagine some of them as part of a movie soundtrack. Not my fave, but definitely different to a lot of other stuff I’ve heard.
Expected this to be country, but it’s more like hippie soul/rock. Repetitive but not too boring. Feel a bit like I’m in a trance. If I went to a musical festival and they were there, I’d be intrigued and stay for a couple songs, but not for the whole set.
A looong album. Not my fave but also didn’t hate it. I like how it was experimental and some of the pop elements were fun. I think Madonna has better albums though.
