Popular Reviews

Country Life by Roxy Music

This is just Ween if they were foppish dandies

Arise by Sepultura

I’ve realized this and beneath the remains are just the two best slayer albums

OK Computer by Radiohead

My 5th favorite radiohead album. 10/10

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu

first listen in a few years, almost always go back to the modern dance over this. One of the most insane relistens I’ve had in a long time, this thing is fucking incredible. It’s somehow weirder than TMD but also more laid back and playful. Even the throwaway experimental track kind of fuckin rocks. RIP

1-Star Albums (2)

All Ratings (155)

The Cars by The Cars
Jun 13 2025

Heard 20+ times. Hits are essential, cuts cut. 104.3 can’t take this record away from me. Too cool of synth tones for ‘78. “I’m in Touch with Your World” is one of the best Devo songs. “Bye Bye Love” is one of my favorite songs. 9.3/10, probably a top 1000 and a top 10 new wave album.

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Jun 15 2025

Heard 10+ times. not as sexy as ST, not as depressed as queen is dead - just whiny. but god is headmaster’s ritual good. 8/10.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jun 16 2025

Heard ~5 times. Used to really like this one, realized john cale does it way better (in half the timeg. Sultans of swing is goated though. 7/10

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jun 17 2025

My 5th favorite radiohead album. 10/10

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jun 18 2025

AAYYYYEEYEYYE IIIIII I MMM SSTILL ALLICEE OOOOOOO YEAH IIIII OOOO IM STILL ALLLIVEE YEYEYAYWEUUWUAUEAU GEETAR SOLOOOO 10/10 probably my most listened to album oat

Jun 20 2025

Heard 10+ times. Axe Moonchild's noodling and this is the best prog album of all time. Always wish it leaned more into folk instead of the symphonic shit. Greg Lake shouldn't have left to go do ELP wankery, he slaps that god damn bass. (Red is still better.) 10/10.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Jun 21 2025

First listen. Stevie is at his best when he's pissed at the world, and he absolutely isn't here. Total lack of funk - he has a beautiful voice obviously but I've never been too into the prog soul stuff. Something about this just feel sterile compared to the rawness of Innervisions before or the sincerity of Songs after. Ok I pulled up the credits and the answer is he DOESNT PLAY ENOUGH MOOG BASS THATS WHAT IT IS. Maybe that's why I like Boogie on Reggae Woman so much. Probably will stick with going back to Innervisions. 7/10

Heroes by David Bowie
Jun 24 2025

My hot take is that this is by far the worst of the Station to Station/Low/This trilogy. I can't get myself to care about the Eno noodling back half when I could literally just listen to Eno do it 10x better on his own albums. The two singles and closer are peak Bowie, though - Heroes is a top 5 song OAT on every single day of the week. 8.5/10

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Jun 25 2025

I haven't listened to this in maybe 3/4 years after being a regular listener in HS and college. I'm specifically listening to the platinum edition, which I correctly remember being much worse than the standard edition. Even the standard track listing is more bloated than I remember. Pretty Hurts - Partition remains an elite run, and Haunted is probably still my favorite B song. But god, Jealous - XO just bounces me so hard, and XO has become one of my least favorite of her singles in recent years. Its highs remain high, and its lows remain low. God 7/11 is objectively an awful song but that shit goes HARD. 7/10

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Jun 26 2025

I'd die for Lord Donald's wife too. 9/10

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jun 28 2025

I think I’ve reached the point where I enjoy jazz, but still don’t “get” it outside the clear classics. Got bored halfway through. Crazy this was recorded in the 40s

Country Life by Roxy Music
Jun 29 2025

This is just Ween if they were foppish dandies

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Jun 30 2025

Nowhere near their best, but there’s some days where I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better is the greatest song ever written. I feel like REM doesn't exist without this

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Jul 03 2025

Catching up on some of my missed albums - holy FUCK do I love 90s dance music. Perfect work background tunes, even if a bit generic. Also includes my favorite 90s trope of having a Q-Tip jump scare

I Against I by Bad Brains
Jul 04 2025

I also am a deeply closeted schizophrenic gay man

Rio by Duran Duran
Jul 05 2025

Rio's a top 10 single of the 80s and the rest tries to match it (and only gets close)

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Jul 06 2025

first listen in a few years, almost always go back to the modern dance over this. One of the most insane relistens I’ve had in a long time, this thing is fucking incredible. It’s somehow weirder than TMD but also more laid back and playful. Even the throwaway experimental track kind of fuckin rocks. RIP

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jul 07 2025

this was fun! a lot better when it’s trying to be White Prince instead of White Michael Jackson

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jul 08 2025

this one’s good!

Jul 09 2025

Phrenology by The Roots
Jul 10 2025

eh, I don't love the Roots and this is definitely the least exciting thing I've heard from them band/production-wise, especially in the back half. Break You Off-Water is just, so insanely long. Black Thought is GOATed as always, though

Skylarking by XTC
Jul 11 2025

Didn't listen, but have heard before. It ight.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jul 12 2025

It’s insane they allowed the first half of leper messiah to make the cut

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Jul 13 2025

just want someone to tell me what to do at this point

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jul 14 2025

I mean, it's got Sympathy for the Devil on it! I haven't listened to this one in a decade - bluesey songs beat out the rootsy songs 110%. But, pretty consistently good songs all around (did I mention Sympathy for the Devil????)

2112 by Rush
Jul 15 2025

we all know neil demanded the oriental riff

Aja by Steely Dan
Jul 16 2025

listened to this out if my blown out laptop speakers and it still sounded perfect

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jul 17 2025

these white boys (and also Tricky) can RAP (check out Tricky’s debut)

The Predator by Ice Cube
Jul 18 2025

The singles are all legendary, but back half of this is a slog. Cube is always operating at the same high level, but he really benefits from the super consistent production on most wanted and death certificate which just isn't here

Synchronicity by The Police
Jul 19 2025

what id we put Sting in a lake

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jul 20 2025

For the 100th time, filtered by jazz - I apparently don't like big band, whatever that means! Blues to Be There was cool though - the Ellington-focused sections did it more for me than anything else.

Sea Change by Beck
Jul 22 2025

this shit changed high school tylore’s WORLD. agree with nelson that it drifts off in the back half, but beck’s still a killer with two turntables

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

how did I miss this one lmao RIP

Imagine by John Lennon
Jul 26 2025
Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jul 27 2025

HEYBADBADBADBDABADBA SWING Agree with the usual take that this is too long, but think most of the deeper cuts still absolutely slap. If the album ended on Under the Bridge it's an easy 10. But, it just....keeps....going....Sir Psycho Sexy can fuck off

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jul 29 2025

this was so Important to 16 yo tylore it’s unreal. I know it’s long, and there’s too many transitions, but every song has a moment where I go “this is the best thing ever written” and that’s enough for me! (chicago -> casimir palaski day is the best song of all time)

LP1 by FKA twigs
Jul 30 2025

stand by two weeks being one of the best singles of the 2010s, but after not hearing this for a few years I was SLEEPY

Arise by Sepultura
Jul 31 2025

I’ve realized this and beneath the remains are just the two best slayer albums

Spiderland by Slint
Aug 01 2025

mfers never taken a drunk piss on a tree and it shows (top 25 OaT probably one of my most listened albums)

Moon Safari by Air
Aug 02 2025

empirical evidence that we’d live longer with mid afternoon croissant breaks

Hotel California by Eagles
Aug 03 2025

three stars for three great songs and none for the rest

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 05 2025

as an avid Jimi hater, this hit for the first time. I may never be right again

Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods
Aug 06 2025

Pretty good! The generic stuff is generic, but the weird stuff works - opener and closer are incredible

Gris Gris by Dr. John
Aug 10 2025

Get me whatever Dr. John's on. I hate that I universally dig dudes that sound like Beefheart (psychopaths) - the weird acid bayou-soul sound absolutely fuckin makes this, don't know if I've ever heard anything like it. Totally gonna listen again and this might get better with time

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Aug 11 2025

this filtered me insanely hard

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Aug 12 2025

this kills exodus every day of the week

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Aug 13 2025

tried this like 5 times in my life, absolutely can’t get into it

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Aug 14 2025

I’d marry gram so we could get drunk and die together

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Aug 15 2025

what is there even to say about this idk we should let more mordor fairies have instruments

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Aug 16 2025

willie has the greatest outlaw run of all time right before this and instead we get fuckin georgia on my mind

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Aug 17 2025

robert christgau has gaslit me into thinking this is the greatest album ever released (he might be right some days)

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 18 2025

for sure the worst nick cave I’ve heard. his songs where he’s not on a broadway stage are incredible as usual

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 19 2025

classic “why do I want to hear anything other than the hits”

Bad Company by Bad Company
Aug 20 2025

arena rock ahhhhh album

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Aug 21 2025

somehow more chaotic but catchier than it takes a nation. I never have and never will hear something that sounds like this. also the chuck D cube BDK collab is one for the gd books

I’m a Lonesome Fugitive by Merle Haggard
Aug 22 2025

score inflated by two because my gma used to blast merle haggard while we’d bake together but also this FUCKS

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Aug 23 2025

this is what every 70s Capital R Rock band wishes they sounded like. It gets 4 because Elvis did it even better

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Aug 24 2025

FAHN

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Aug 25 2025

what kind of music does this site like if THIS is a 2.9????? somehow also his worst album

Tapestry by Carole King
Aug 26 2025

I too enjoy Tapestry by Carole King A Lot

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Aug 28 2025

I have never once wondered “what if Fun House was indie sleeze” - it’s alright! I’ve rated albums lower but this is the first I’ve thought “there’s no way this is anyone’s favorite album” - no shot it deserves to be here

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Aug 29 2025

clapton guitar good but do nothing else good better music plz

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Aug 30 2025

Top 100 OAT, 10 of the 90s. Makes me want to kill myself but in a freaky way

Blur by Blur
Sep 02 2025

my least fav of the good Blur albums, not disgustingly British enough

Nowhere by Ride
Sep 08 2025

underrated as hell in the shoegaze canon

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Sep 09 2025

almost crashed my car listening to this auto 2 star

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Sep 10 2025

top 100 OAT top 10 of the 80s every day of the week - I think I’ve listened to this at least once a month since I was 14 lmao Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke put on matching GOAT performances, and even at his most punchable (which, Frankly, Mr. Shankly definitely is) Morissey has such an inescapable, sweaty charm

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Sep 13 2025

Tylore gets filtered by jazz - continued. Was going to make a joke about old man Bill Evans being a 30 year old on the cover, but then learned he was actually 30 there (kill me)

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
Sep 14 2025

A staple of my 2000 Impala’s CD rack - doesn’t hold up great, but first half still rocks

Bad by Michael Jackson
Sep 17 2025

insane they allowed I just cant stop loving you on this christ

GI by Germs
Sep 18 2025

Stooges worship at its finest - makes me want to kick someone in the head then kill myself. Lexicon Devil's the best song to come out of SoCal hardcore not written by DKs. I <3 u pat smear

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Sep 19 2025

the only cola I support is a cost of living allowance (the beats on this are fucking psychotic what is this thing)

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Sep 20 2025

I hate Billy Joel, but….this does happen to have every Billy Joel song I like

Sister by Sonic Youth
Sep 21 2025

responsible for 50% of the music I love (also fuckin rocks)

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Sep 22 2025

don’t forget the buttsex

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Sep 25 2025

we have a new winner of the undeserving pitchforkcore award

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Sep 27 2025

I think it's aged the worst of the jazz rap classics, but is also responsible for like all of my favorite hip hop, so....

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Sep 28 2025

what the fuck even is this who hid beefheartcore from me

Sep 29 2025

at least it’s got stone cold crazy! (queen blows)

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Sep 30 2025

eh, kinda soured on this one over the years, never really go back to it. not as fun as funeral, or as weird as neon bible, and the hits aren’t as good as reflektor

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Oct 01 2025

yo THIS is my shit right here. Never heard before, incredible sound quality for 1960.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Oct 04 2025

It’s the least perfect in a perfect run of albums, I’ll survive

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Oct 05 2025

The absolute peak of “everyone individually is doing the coolest thing you’ve ever heard for 53 minutes straight but when you play it all together it sounds like it’s going to rob you with a screwdriver on the third floor of a parking garage in broad daylight”core

Oct 06 2025

hear me out - what if we did the coolest thing, all the time, for 40 minutes

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Oct 07 2025

Marvin Gaye following up his bleak introspective opus with the 15 sexiest seconds in recorded music makes this record perfect by default (it’s also perfect anyways marvin gaye has the most beautiful voice of anyone to ever live)

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Oct 10 2025

absolutely baffled by Cosmic Dancer [we have space oddity at home], otherwise shit GROOVES

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Oct 11 2025

absolute heater. gotta listen to more of this

Low by David Bowie
Oct 12 2025

My favorite Bowie, captures everything I like about him - cold and alien (what the fuck is that noise on Breaking Glass?) while also strangely relaxing (Sound and Vision gets replayed like 6 times on each listen).

Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso
Oct 13 2025

This is alright, but definitely not made for me! having listened to one of his later, even more psych-indebted stuff, much prefer that

1999 by Prince
Oct 14 2025

LP1 is perfect, for sure my favorite Prince album - LP2 is almost as good. I believe Prince when he tells me he wants to fuck me

No Other by Gene Clark
Oct 15 2025

The best country rock record not made by Neil Young

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Oct 16 2025

my favorite [fl]autist

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Oct 18 2025

the most “fine” songs out of their first five - I couldn’t give a shit about what is and what should never be, man. But, the hits are here and they hit. Bring it on home absolutely slept on

Purple Rain by Prince
Oct 19 2025

yeah this is what I’d tell my kids the 80s sounded like

British Steel by Judas Priest
Oct 21 2025

It’s psychotic that priest has at least 6 albums better than this

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Oct 22 2025

elliot smith is not my favorite in the folk canon but this definitely makes me want to jump off a building, so does its job

I rarely listen to this full through, but the basically NIN cover opener is INSANE. The hits hit harder than most nu metal and at this point I really just love Durst’s goffiness. But god damn theres like 6 songs too many

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 24 2025

an incredibly haunting record - that I just wish wasn’t made by Bruce

The Yes Album by Yes
Oct 25 2025

this shit is TIGHT and I’ve Seen All Good People might have the best vocal melodies ever

Oct 26 2025

I haven’t listened to this full through in maybe a decade. Since then, I’ve learned to appreciate Genesis - their five album run in the early/mid 70s is five of the finest musicians to ever live locking into the most ridiculous prog opuses imaginable. Gabriel Genesis is the rare prog group that knows how silly the genre is and just leans into it with incredible showmanship - Tony Banks may be the greatest keyboardist of all time, and he runs this god damn thing. I’ll forgive them of their 80s mistakes. God damn do I love Peter Gabriel - he’s the soul here. I have zero idea what the concept behind this concept album is, and I couldn’t give a single shit, it’s perfect. All that said, this is still ONLY my fourth favorite Genesis - check out Foxtrot!

Odelay by Beck
Oct 28 2025

Highest number of ideas per second ratio of any Beck album, mostly for better

Close To You by Carpenters
Oct 31 2025

pretty, but also kinda sucks!

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Nov 01 2025

Haven't listened to this in forever - it's not great! California Dreamin is potentially the finest single of the 60s, though, and gets it an extra star.

1984 by Van Halen
Nov 02 2025

I have no other place to admit I'll Wait is one of my 5 favorite Van Halen songs, so here it is. What if we made an album with 8 songs where they were all pretty good?

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Nov 04 2025

NILE RODGERS I LOVE YOU I WILL LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOU CREATE - non-disco tracks are skips

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Nov 05 2025

never heard before - incredible playing here, made for me

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Nov 06 2025

Absolutely unmatched in the charisma and catchiness department - his best.

Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk
Nov 09 2025

WE’RE SO CLOSE TO BEST KRAFTWERK but every second of this is perfect anyways

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Nov 10 2025

Radiohead's best non-Kid A, their best guitar album, the best, the bestest, the best. Every riff drills into the depths of my god damn brain.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Nov 11 2025

rockabilly songs go insanely hard but then there's the other ones - just made me listen to London Calling after

Another Green World by Brian Eno
Nov 12 2025

Eno's best non-fully ambient, the conversion from a glam freak to a Freak freak. I like how much this feels like Low, especially in comparison to here comes the warm jets (my second fav of his) - I really like Eno's weird vocals when they're used this sparingly. The Big Ship might be the best song ever recorded, Robert Fripp is a fucking god on st. elmo's fire, don't know what more I could possibly want

Cut by The Slits
Nov 13 2025

I finally get a hot take - I have zero idea why this is in the punk canon lmao

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Nov 14 2025

fuckin love ZZ Top - see them live while you still can. Perhaps the finest conversion of a 70s hard rock band to the stylings of the 80s; they still groove, but you can sing along too

So by Peter Gabriel
Nov 15 2025
Queen II by Queen
Nov 16 2025

I don't know how I can love Genesis and hate Queen, but here we are. This is probably their best.

Throwing Muses by Throwing Muses
Nov 17 2025

who the fuck hid proto Sleater Kinney from me for my entire life this is incredible [the cowpunk songs in the back half also rock]

Horses by Patti Smith
Nov 18 2025

Contender for best bookends ever, also all the poetry in the middle

Signing Off by UB40
Nov 20 2025

I saw them be really boring this summer - this was also really boring!

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Nov 22 2025

peak dad music I’m a dad now

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Nov 24 2025

Probably the worst deep cuts of any pre-Rubber Soul Beatles album not named Beatles for Sale. The hard day's night guitar solo tho!

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Dec 01 2025

My least favorite white stripes by quite a bit - still has blue orchid, the denial twist, and take, take, take!

Marquee Moon by Television
Dec 02 2025

I desperately need whatever drugs they were on at CBGB in the 70s

Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Dec 05 2025

I listen to this at least once a week. Dave Mustaine was fuckin on one

Dec 06 2025

Watched the whole special while bombed last night - upsetting!!! Watching a dead man perform such a somber set almost distracts from the fact that this is the height of an excellent live band playing a truly psychotic setlist so well it hurts. Lead Belly x Meat Puppets x Vasolines covers are just incredible, and the actual Nirvana songs they play work. Praise be to Kurt’s little hidden amp

Palo Congo by Sabu
Dec 08 2025

this was not made for me

Music From The Penguin Cafe by Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Dec 12 2025

This is one of the coolest things I've ever heard. I usually don't love "chamber" anything, but this has so much weirdness and creativity in the guitar work going along with the strings that it's got me by the balls. Second track should've been last, definitely the weakest. Will need a relisten to evaluate, could be a 5 in the future.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Dec 16 2025

Desperately need to catch up, don't need a Nick Drake relisten to know I love this man so unbelievably deeply. Great album cover too
