This is just Ween if they were foppish dandies
first listen in a few years, almost always go back to the modern dance over this. One of the most insane relistens I’ve had in a long time, this thing is fucking incredible. It’s somehow weirder than TMD but also more laid back and playful. Even the throwaway experimental track kind of fuckin rocks. RIP
makes me feel worse than my parents' divorce
Heard 20+ times. Hits are essential, cuts cut. 104.3 can’t take this record away from me. Too cool of synth tones for ‘78. “I’m in Touch with Your World” is one of the best Devo songs. “Bye Bye Love” is one of my favorite songs. 9.3/10, probably a top 1000 and a top 10 new wave album.
Heard 10+ times. not as sexy as ST, not as depressed as queen is dead - just whiny. but god is headmaster’s ritual good. 8/10.
Heard ~5 times. Used to really like this one, realized john cale does it way better (in half the timeg. Sultans of swing is goated though. 7/10
My 5th favorite radiohead album. 10/10
AAYYYYEEYEYYE IIIIII I MMM SSTILL ALLICEE OOOOOOO YEAH IIIII OOOO IM STILL ALLLIVEE YEYEYAYWEUUWUAUEAU GEETAR SOLOOOO 10/10 probably my most listened to album oat
Heard 10+ times. Axe Moonchild's noodling and this is the best prog album of all time. Always wish it leaned more into folk instead of the symphonic shit. Greg Lake shouldn't have left to go do ELP wankery, he slaps that god damn bass. (Red is still better.) 10/10.
First listen. Stevie is at his best when he's pissed at the world, and he absolutely isn't here. Total lack of funk - he has a beautiful voice obviously but I've never been too into the prog soul stuff. Something about this just feel sterile compared to the rawness of Innervisions before or the sincerity of Songs after. Ok I pulled up the credits and the answer is he DOESNT PLAY ENOUGH MOOG BASS THATS WHAT IT IS. Maybe that's why I like Boogie on Reggae Woman so much. Probably will stick with going back to Innervisions. 7/10
My hot take is that this is by far the worst of the Station to Station/Low/This trilogy. I can't get myself to care about the Eno noodling back half when I could literally just listen to Eno do it 10x better on his own albums. The two singles and closer are peak Bowie, though - Heroes is a top 5 song OAT on every single day of the week. 8.5/10
I haven't listened to this in maybe 3/4 years after being a regular listener in HS and college. I'm specifically listening to the platinum edition, which I correctly remember being much worse than the standard edition. Even the standard track listing is more bloated than I remember. Pretty Hurts - Partition remains an elite run, and Haunted is probably still my favorite B song. But god, Jealous - XO just bounces me so hard, and XO has become one of my least favorite of her singles in recent years. Its highs remain high, and its lows remain low. God 7/11 is objectively an awful song but that shit goes HARD. 7/10
I'd die for Lord Donald's wife too. 9/10
I think I’ve reached the point where I enjoy jazz, but still don’t “get” it outside the clear classics. Got bored halfway through. Crazy this was recorded in the 40s
This is just Ween if they were foppish dandies
Nowhere near their best, but there’s some days where I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better is the greatest song ever written. I feel like REM doesn't exist without this

this was fun! a lot better when it’s trying to be White Prince instead of White Michael Jackson
this one’s good!

Didn't listen, but have heard before. It ight.
It’s insane they allowed the first half of leper messiah to make the cut
just want someone to tell me what to do at this point
we all know neil demanded the oriental riff
listened to this out if my blown out laptop speakers and it still sounded perfect
these white boys (and also Tricky) can RAP (check out Tricky’s debut)
The singles are all legendary, but back half of this is a slog. Cube is always operating at the same high level, but he really benefits from the super consistent production on most wanted and death certificate which just isn't here
what id we put Sting in a lake
It’s me. I’m the funk soul brother.
this shit changed high school tylore’s WORLD. agree with nelson that it drifts off in the back half, but beck’s still a killer with two turntables
I didn’t listen but fuck johnny rotton
licking envelopes rn
makes me feel worse than my parents' divorce
this was so Important to 16 yo tylore it’s unreal. I know it’s long, and there’s too many transitions, but every song has a moment where I go “this is the best thing ever written” and that’s enough for me! (chicago -> casimir palaski day is the best song of all time)
stand by two weeks being one of the best singles of the 2010s, but after not hearing this for a few years I was SLEEPY
I’ve realized this and beneath the remains are just the two best slayer albums
mfers never taken a drunk piss on a tree and it shows (top 25 OaT probably one of my most listened albums)
empirical evidence that we’d live longer with mid afternoon croissant breaks
three stars for three great songs and none for the rest
best B side ever
as an avid Jimi hater, this hit for the first time. I may never be right again
2/2 with albums absolutely filtering me today
this filtered me insanely hard
this kills exodus every day of the week
tried this like 5 times in my life, absolutely can’t get into it
I’d marry gram so we could get drunk and die together
what is there even to say about this idk we should let more mordor fairies have instruments
willie has the greatest outlaw run of all time right before this and instead we get fuckin georgia on my mind
robert christgau has gaslit me into thinking this is the greatest album ever released (he might be right some days)
for sure the worst nick cave I’ve heard. his songs where he’s not on a broadway stage are incredible as usual
classic “why do I want to hear anything other than the hits”
arena rock ahhhhh album
somehow more chaotic but catchier than it takes a nation. I never have and never will hear something that sounds like this. also the chuck D cube BDK collab is one for the gd books
score inflated by two because my gma used to blast merle haggard while we’d bake together but also this FUCKS
this is what every 70s Capital R Rock band wishes they sounded like. It gets 4 because Elvis did it even better
FAHN
what kind of music does this site like if THIS is a 2.9????? somehow also his worst album
I too enjoy Tapestry by Carole King A Lot
girls
I have never once wondered “what if Fun House was indie sleeze” - it’s alright! I’ve rated albums lower but this is the first I’ve thought “there’s no way this is anyone’s favorite album” - no shot it deserves to be here
clapton guitar good but do nothing else good better music plz
Top 100 OAT, 10 of the 90s. Makes me want to kill myself but in a freaky way
