D.O.A. the Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle
Throbbing GristleOmg WTF
Omg WTF
It's not my style of rock music. It's space rock. I didn't know such a thing existed. There are dynamic space-like noises and such, otherwise it's extremely repetitive (chorus, drums).
Bish, don't kill my vibe. Really great album, loved it!
Definitely a 70s keeper album. Goes along with Fleetwood Mac well.
Imagine is of course one of the best songs of all time. Crippled Inside was also a great song, which I hadn't heard before. Obvious political texts of that time.
Pretty intense cross between psychedelic rock/jazz. No doubt crazy musical talent and free-thinking, but not something I could listen to for a long time.
It's very dynamic jazz.
Raw Lenny Kravitz...cool album. Almost blues-like and I would listen to it again.
Not my thing.
Her voice is too high pitched penetrative and drives me nuts. Nope. She is one of the most influential singer/songwriters and her lyrics are great.
Omg...I am so impressed with Jeff Buckley. He is so much more than Hallelujah. His voice is very unexpected. I love his style too, there was only one song on the album I didn't like so much.
I can appreciate that this was probably huge in the 60w but I'm not a huge fan. It reminds me of ABBA a little. I like California Dreamin' otherwise it wouldn't be on my rotation.
Really great album, thought-provoking and a combination of many styles of music, though mostly 80s sound similar to the Cure.
It's really interesting. The precurser to punk rock - not sure if I'd listen to the album again, but glad I know it.
Not a fan.
I have mixed feelings...it's techno, rave, alternative dance. It gets one pumped up. I think The Fat of the Land is their more popular album.
I want to like Radiohead so bad but it just doesn't resonate with me. I like songs here and there. On this album Go to Sleep was cool.
It's not metal.
Can't go wrong with the Beatles. Blackbird is on this album.
Omg WTF
I loved listening to this album, the lyrics are wild and tell stories. Kindof like Alt-J lyrics but with the style of nostalgic alternative pop/rock. Really refreshing to listen to... will listen again for sure. I can't believe I haven't listened to them before.
Cool folk album, raw music.
So I wasn't expecting a quiet album. It is wildly different than Odelay...very melancholy, self-pitying, dark self-reflection. "Days turning to sand, losing strength in every hand...days fade to black..." The lyrics are sensical, not like in Odelay. One has to be in a certain mood to listen to the whole album. I think he was going through shit in 2002.
Love me some JT
Nooo, I didn't like it. Somehow it reminds me of ABBA a little.
So...it could be like background music at some point, but the first grooves are nice and make you swing your hips.
This is hilarious....this band has everything to do with Frank Zappa. Nuff said.
Cool rock album although I wouldn't listen to it on a regular basis.
Pretty cool, great 70s rock vibes.
Meh.
All the songs sound very much the same. It's not horrible but not memorable. A memorable live band in Boston at the time - precursor to the Velvet Underground.
It's a very typical 80s album, what more can I say.
Love this album, has a good mixture of louder and quieter songs. She's such a great musician.
It's not my style of rock music. It's space rock. I didn't know such a thing existed. There are dynamic space-like noises and such, otherwise it's extremely repetitive (chorus, drums).
It's listed as experimental pop and post-rock. A French/English band. I find the beats cool, but it's a little too repetitive for my taste.
Nothing beats Purple Rain, When Doves Cry and I Would Die 4 U!
It's not an album I would buy, but I did like some of the songs. Classic.
Although they are great musicians...it's still alot of noise with an orchestra in the background.
I liked quite a few songs, but the album didn't quite hit the nail on the head.
Kindof a fun jazz organ album.
Classic punk. Cool lyrics awful music.
Love Beck, Guero was a solid interesting album with good beats.
I couldn't bring myself to listen to the album after the first song. Or should I say cacamaphony.
Yeeee-hawwww I'm 'ridin down my ma and paw's dirt road again.
Cool soul/rock album.
Makes me feel like I'm dreaming.
Nice solid band. By the Band.
Nice music and album.
It was certainly entertaining, I thought I was in a musical the whole time.
Blitzkrieg Pop hey ho let's go...that's one I recognized. But otherwise it's still a punk album...which I'm tired of. It's just not my music, it's too repetitive :(
Smooth, naughty, perfect.
For Crying out Loud is epic, his voice is so nice how else can I describe it.
Not bad, cheesy but nice to listen to.
I cannot fathom how I've never listened to Led Zeppelin. How has this happened. Even though some of the songs are 8 minutes it doesn't get old like Metallica did...it's fantastical from beginning to end. Like if I had been really concentrated on something such as eating a piece of divine chocolate cake in a noisy restaurant and this had been playing on shitty little speakers, I would have raised my head up like a little squirrel and be looking all around. Then ask who is this?
I would have zero idea what she's singing about in Clowns if I didn't look up the lyrics - kindof like a Sia-vibe type of singing. It's all very whimsical la,la,la. Very floaty, electic. A&E and Caravan Girl were cool songs and really stood out.
Sexayyyy!
Cool album, curachas and guitar galore!!
They started the new wave rock movement. I'm always on the fence about it and have to be in the right mood. No Compassion is a great song, loved the lyrics, it's brutally honest and funny. The lyrics in general are entertaining.
I've never liked Eminem and I still don't.
One can listen to this album and really completely zone out...psychedelic rock isn't always my thing but sometimes it's interesting and I didn't mind this.
Over & Over and Sara sounded like Fleetwood Mac to me. And then came the Ledge which is almost honky-tonk to a certain extent and then we have Save Me a Place which reminded me of weird singing family who came to my church one time. Storms is really a beautiful and flowy...and then it's just all over the place - the song style tips frantically from one side to the other. Tusk is the cherry on the crazy cake. Since I still enjoyed it overall, I'd listen to it again.
It's laid back folk/country style..pretty chilled but rather boring.
So I can't get behind this. I was happy when my headphones ran out of battery. It's just noise that runs into another noise....why why why is it one of the best live albums of all time? The dude can't belt out anything above a normal talking voice range.
I have a difficult time any music that has the word punk in it, in general. However, this is the 2nd Talking Heads album I've listened to - the first one was Talking Heads 77 and I gave that one a 3. I enjoyed this one actually...I expanded my mind to appreciate this pleasant cacophony of musical genius. Speaking of mind..."Mind" is hilarious to listen to if one is having marital problems. All the beats are quite catchy, infused with some funk even. Each song is so unique, it's not an album one gets bored listening to! David Byrne, you've convinced me to somewhat accept this genre with the word "punk" in it.
This album is just fun and gets ya goin...the first 3 songs. And then it gets old and slimy.
I love love love David Bowie, ever since he was the Goblin King. Let's face it, I'll never give him a bad review.
I will listen to this again. Nice, relaxing, but also complex if one actively listens. It's not just for background music!
Why do songs have to be 8-10 minutes long? It starts making me nervous and I could have done without Moonchild. Despite that....this album is pretty cool and super diverse. The whole jazz element colliding with rock, and then they bust out the flute?! Ain't that fun. Talk to the Wind is a very beautiful song.
My religious dad named Black Sabbath as one of THOSE bands...you know, a bad, satanic one that makes you sin and whatnot. I thoroughly enjoyed the album, the pure grime of it made me happy.
I didn't find it terrible, just super generic, including the lyrics. Sure there is musical talent here...but it is just so MEH!! I agree with some comments like "something my conservative in-laws would listen to," or "it's verryyyy long." And then comes the fiddles and don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for good fiddling, but even the country part is missing something!!
Bridge Over Troubled Water always brings tears to my eyes. It is just so beautiful and the lyrics are unbeatable. And then what comes next, is just as good! This album won't be pure nostalgia to everyone, but I think it would still pull on the heart strings of the younger generation. The best folk rock duo EVER, period!
Every song is great, an album one can listen to over and over!
I am really a jazz snob (I find it to be a difficult genre for me), but this album I actually enjoyed listening to. It is very mellow and intricate. The Mountain is absolutely gorgeous.
I just literally can't right now, I'm so sick of this genre.
Good southern rock (but not too honky tonk) knee slappin' fun.
Nawwww at first it's kinda catchy until it's not...and it is SO long.
It's really uneventful.
Everyone needs a little cheesy in their lives! In general, it's a lovely, easy listening album. Stevie's voice is pure butter. Superstition is of course the number one banger, but I also loved Blame it on the Sun. It starts out meh, and then BAMMM a nice little beat shows up. Believe is magnificent, I automatically started doing the slow side step and pumping my arms.
I don't understand some of these super negative reviews. Even of it ain't your music..one has to damit the guy can jam. I liked the whole album, it will be especially magnificent on a hot summer evening sitting on the patio with an umbrella drink in my hand.
It makes me happy, these magical vibes. Like I'm sitting on a picnic blanket by the lake in the summer.
I liked Sticky Fingers much better compared to Exile on Main Street, but I'm not sure why..maybe it felt deeper and it was soooo long. I loved the build up on Sister Mophine.
She really has a beautiful voice. Unfortunately, her singing style is the country version of Katie Melua and I can't stand it.
I was so worried this would be another British punk album. Thank God it wasn't.
I was surprised that this album did not resonate with me and I didn't like it much. I feel weird about it, but whatcha gonna do. I was drained after I got through Backstreets.
