I didn't like this album. I saw them do this music when I was in high school. What a big voice the lead singer had. Doug Ingle.
Pleasantly surprised a few times during this album.
This music was overwhelming for me.
Ground-breaking, influential album with the genre defining vocals of Miss Aretha Franklin. An undeniable classic in every sense of the word for every category you can think of regarding the recording arts.
Another ground-breaking recording. Another artist defining soul. Excellent
Really liked the grooves on this and the unusual sounds, interesting vocals, unexpected lyrics . . . I will listen to this again.
I have always loved Randy Crawford's vocals on Street Life. The rest of the album was enjoyable too but instrumental horn music gets old to me about halfway through the recording. Taken one by one they are accomplished arrangements and the musicianship is wonderful.
I liked this album when it was first released. I like his voice.
Very interesting. So many varying sounds and styles. I don't really like her voice. There were a couple of songs on the al um that perked my ears up but I didn't really like it much.
hmmmm, wanted to like it but it became like too much text on the page and it just grays out . . .
Sade is always a joy to hear. I like every cut on this album.
Didn't like her voice from the first cu but need to listen to the rest of the album.
Some of Page's most memorable and recognizable work. Plant is a force of nature.
Phunky. Liked some of it. Gets repetitive but could keep you poppin if it was in the background. Just not loving some of the message.
I remember not loving this when it was current. I think the last track Tall in the Saddle was the best one for me. I tire of her voice quickly and the whole production was jsut so dated in a way that I didn't like.
When these guys surfaced with that raw sound it was a welcomed change from the overproduced music that was popular at the time. I tire of the effects after a few cuts. But in general I like them.
I was surprised by many things on this recording. The production, the musicianship, the arrangements were all unexpected for me. I didn't like it and won't listen to it again but there were seconds that took me by surprise. I had never listen to a Kanye record before and so I didn't know what to expect. It was different than I thought it would be.
All such classics by the one and only Sinatra. The instrumentation, the arrangements, his delivery all perfection
Peter Gabriel defined the production sounds used on his recordings. While dated his style is so signature it is still good to hear. HIs live performances were theatrical and really entertaining.
Did not enjoy his vocals or the songs
Enjoyable all the way through.
I don't like this style of singing. It is flat sounding.
Interesting. Probably wouldn't listen to it again except for second cut entitled
It's Time to Get Away From You
which I have added to my play list for quick acesss.
Too repetitive.
Don't really like her voice or vocal style. Tracks all sounded the same. Kind of liked one track something about the Weekend.
Enjoyed this listen. I like their voices. Great backing vocals. Also really like the interesting lyrics, arrangements and composition of the songs and the production. Enjoyed the song Bonny and the guitar tone used. Never even heard of this group of musicians.
I listened to this as a background but it is just not my thing.
A lot of good music came out of this period in music. It all propelled forward but this was not musical enough for me to like. I don't actualy remember this band.
This challenging listen is essential to understand so many genres. Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground broke through as many walls as they could with this one recording. I'll probably never listen to it again but I am glad I listened to it now.
I'm sure he is talented but I just found it a boring listen. I sometimes liked his guitar work. His voice is soft and low but stylistically there was nothing engaging in his singing. Some of the lyrics were well turned phrases but overall just too sleepy for me.
The quintessential rock and roller. On "Money" the laugh and the yodel cracked me up. Surprises were the blues "Matchbox" and "Your Cheating Heart" for vocals. The rest of the rock n roll banging was just that, rockn'.
It's Queen! It was a great album.
Fun trip back to the post punk era. I liked the Clash back in the day.
Now that's a blast from the past. Fun. No need to hear it again.
The singer reminded me of David Byrne. I liked a couple of tracks. Ocean of Noise and The Antichrist Television.
Prince! Can do no wrong in my book.
Essential listening. They were never my favorite bit I appreciate what they accomplished and Gilmour is well, Gilmour
Phil Spector created a sound that has been expounded upon for generations of people that will never even know his name.
Great Christmas listen
I actually liked a few of these cuts. I knew nothing of this band. Won't be a repeat listen.
She is such a revered artist. I love everything about her. I appreciate all the songs on this album but I can't say it would be a go to listen.
No cuts on this album I particularly liked or disliked.
So fun. So swinging. great horn arrangements. Loved Keey Smith's voice too.
The combination of Taupin's lyrics with John's piano/compositions and soulful vocals has always spoken to me.
Well, It's David Bowie. It is not my style of music but I appreciated much of it. He's just so iconic.
I liked this album. He is a great song writer.
There has always been something about her voice I sort of liked but I can't take it for long. Her songwriting is interesting in a broken adolescent sort of way.
Just not my listen. I like spots of the recording.
I like the energy of this album. I always like Billy Joe Armstrong's voice.
This is right from my favorite era of music in my youth. I loved the tribal feeling of the drums. I like the compositions. Her voice. Just liked it.
This was a very popular album when I was quite young. Love the song Kicks. Paul Revere was a heart throb for that period. The music was ok but it was a good memory.
I enjoyed this unheard of before artist and the unexpected recording.
I have never been able to stand this lead singer's voice. I won't even listen
Fairytale of New York has always been one of my favorite Christmas carols. The rest of the album is fun, fast and furious. I like the instrumentation and the songs. Overall I enjoyed the collection of songs.
Lead singer had a compelling voice and was reminiscent of Freddie Mercury on occasion. The recording is a whole is not something I would listen to again. Too noisy for me
I saw these guys live. The tones of the instruments and vocals are typical of that period. Not something I would revisit.
His music was inescapable while it was current. I never really liked it.
What is it about David Bowie? I like all his albums. they are not what I call up when I want to listen to music though. I do love the song Changes.
Break up angst ugh. I don't love her voice. She is a creative songwriter and the production is interesting i.e. her multi track vocals.
I liked this recording. I preferred the tracks with vocals but I enjoyed the whole album. The instrumental tracks became too repetitive for me but initially I liked the rhythms and the instrumentation, they just went on too long for my tastes. I liked the vocalist's voice.
This may be my favorite Lou Reed album so far. Walk on is a classic of course but I also like Perfect.
Love the power of this recording. It's endured for all this time. Like all the songs.
It's Michael Jackson. I love the song Human Nature.
Jimi was unique at the time and so the recording shows. His command of his instrument was unparalleled and continues to inspire musicians across all genres. My favorite cut is Crosstown Traffic.
I was really surprised how much I liked this recording. I liked the second cut a lot.
Art piece. I have this album. Collectable. To say it is experimental is generous.
I like the vocals and the grooves they create. I get tired of it by about the 5th track but generally I liked it.
I have always liked Aimee Mann. This album was just pop enough for me to like it all the way through. I like her voice, songwriting and the production.
Such a blast from the past. The sound of this recording is so signature 1970. The guitar sounds, the mix on the voice, the big heavy rhythm section, the dark power chords. A real slog for me. I didn't like it then and still don't like it..
Taylor Swift is clearly the queen of teeny pop song writing but I gotta say she is a gifted pop writer. It's not an album I will listen to again but there are several catchy tunes in this collection.
I like Michael Stipe's vocal but not the "cryptic" lyrics so much. The compositions and musicianship, product and all that are always good on their albums.
I liked some of this recording. I suppose it was innovative at the time.
There was some pretty stuff on this album. I tired of it quickly even though I had it on in the background.
Nice voice, ok songs, nothing stood out. Kind of dated. Kind of tired.
I've always found Eminem compelling. Can't put my finger on it but when his music comes on I have to listen. His lyrics are somewhat chilling but the rhythms and the chord structures keeps me interested.
Now we're gettin somewhere. This was an enjoyable recording. I was unaware that this was the first release of The Girl from Ipanema.
Refreshing and different. Easy listening.
Two part harmony kings. Familiar songs. Classics all.
