From Elvis In Memphis
Elvis PresleyInteresting to hear some "later" Elvis that I was not familiar with. The music was a bit more gritty. My son said it reminded him of Johnny Cash.

I had heard many songs from this album, but in other versions. I was surprised and impressed by the more experimental aspects, particularly the sampling, synths, and chamber music accompaniments.
I know this album is a classic of its genre. The instrumentals/beats are fire, but for me it's very hard to listen to a whole album with so much profanity and misogyny.
I knew of Cream but mostly just as the band that Eric Clapton was in. Sunshine of Your Love was the tune I recognized, and the album is full of catchy licks. I was pleasantly surprised by the quirkiness of some of the tunes, like We're Going Wrong and Mother's Lament.
