Taking inspiration from Terry I played this on the office speaker/watering can. "What's that you've gone on?" My colleagues asked. Surprised I said "Oh, you don't know!? Why, it's clearly the Bill Evans Trio and what many regard as the greatest live jazz album of all time". Now they know I'm even cooler than they thought.
Hadn't heard of them before, after hearing this I'm not so surprised. It was ok, but nothing to write home about.
Know a few of these. The man knows his way around a guitar, but it's all a bit groovy for my tastes.
Recognised a lot of these, makes me think my mother might have owned this. A pleasant trip down memory lane.
There are similarities to the experimental electronic stuff I like. Enjoyed it.
Middling, ok but not memorable.
I'd only heard Bowie's main stream stuff, which I don't care for. But this was great, particularly the second half instrumental stuff. I'd not realised he did instrumental tracks, or that some of his influences were Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. Look forward to hearing more.
Didn't care for the audiobook style stories with a few tunes in the background.
Don't think I know any of their stuff but I really enjoyed this. I have a soft spot for 80s synth.
Reading the review on here for the album just lists all the "best albums lists" that this album has featured in and says nothing about the music... Having now listened to it myself I don't have much to say about it either.
Can't find a lead singer for your band? No problem, get some guy to shout instead.
Not a club I'm a member of
Had heard a couple of these. Not a fan, but the hits are catchy.
No idea who these fellas are. This started off ok, but fell off towards the end.
Another unknown to me, sounded pretty run of the mill to my ear...
What a tune Greensleeves is though, loved that as a kid. Probably because the Mr Whippy ice-cream vans used to play it.
One of these sounded familiar, think I'd heard it before
A nice break from guitars, but not for me
This one left a bad taste. Had heard quite a few of them though.
Wasn't as bad as I was expecting from some of the reviews on here
Enjoyed it, heard Walk on By before but not this guys version.
A classic for me, some bangers on here and Melt happens to be one of my most played tracks of all time (25th) - though that is due to its inclusion on the Deep and Chilled Euphoria compilation album.
Heard this many times in my youth, a classic from the trip-hop era - my least favourite out of the big 3 though, too lethargic.
Hadn't heard a Stones album before and didn't know they did blues/folk stuff, not for me.
Enjoyed it, think Metallica covered one of these
Love Orbital, though this one isn't my favourite of theirs
Enjoyed this one, think I need to listen to more Depeche Mode!
What a talent, he can literally make anything rhyme with "suck my c*ck", as he demonstrates quite often! I didn't feel this one had aged so well though or maybe it's me that hasn't aha
Recognised quite a lot of these, not bad but not where I'm at these days. Good to see Sheffield bands the list though!
This was a rough listen whilst driving at 7.30am on Christmas eve! I almost turned it off, but to be fair two of the later tracks were ok.
Hard to make a judgement on this one, sounds like most other Christmas themed albums to me. Good job I was given this album to listen to today though, or I suspect this would have been a lower rating, aha.
Acoustic punk is probably my favourite type of punk...but that's not saying much
It was ok background music, but just didn't excite me at all
Love the opening track, Intro, one of my favourites. I have listened to the rest of this album before because of that track, but it's not really my cup of tea.
Hadn't realised be was inspired by Michael Jackson, but upon listening it's clear.
Thought I'd heard them before, but this seemed new to me.
New to me, was alright, but leaning a bit too much towards pop
I've heard this one before, quite like the new wave, new romantics era
Only knew one of these tracks I think, enjoyed the album though
Enjoyed this one, it had some similarities to some post-rock stuff I listen to, though it's a bit more upbeat
Don't care for this sort of music
Enjoyed this one, heard quite a lot of The Smiths but never a full album
A good headphone listen, enjoyed it, a refreshing change of pace from much of the stuff we've had on this list.
Bored by this one, just couldn't get engaged
I hear his vocal range is highly praised, but it's not for me.
Going against the masses here but I just didn't care for it
Enjoyed it, good background music to work to.
Heard some of this style music on soma.fm, what's so good about this album though?
'73 and he was singing about the cost of living, we've not come very far
Pleasant enough. Had never heard of her but recognised one of these tracks
Sounded much like the previous album we had of his. Funky, but not my jam.
Don't care for the slow-mo singing, hasn't aged well
A welcome break from some of the crap we've had so far.
Better than I thought it would be. Think my gran would love it.
This brought back memories of Uni, not as shouty as I was expecting - more if a happy/fun vibe, didn't mind it.
Loved the track m.A.A. d city, but the rest of it wasn't for me.
Heard some of these tracks before... Reminded me of listening to events hosted at schools, not good.
Think I'd only heard Passenger of his, which seemed the best by far on this album
A rough listen, think I've have rather listened to their doorbell ringing than a song about their doorbell ringing.
Not sure how albums like this make it into such a list. Guessing they've skipped a lot of genres to keep stuff like this in
Enjoyed this one, love their contribution to the Donnie Darko soundtrack but otherwise hadn't listened to them before
Nice voice, have heard Beth listening to this one before
Enjoyed his weary voice. The review on here didn't make it clear that he had rerecorded all these as an old man.
Enjoyable, got better as it went on too
