Listened many times – great album.

Surprised by the album. Some Talking Heads music feels too esoteric and arty for me to really enjoy. This is just joyous and feels like some of David Bowie's fun albums.

Pink Floyd feel to it.

I can see why this was such a monumental album when it came out in the early 70s but it's just not for me. It's too raw and disjointed.

No matter the fanfare or lauding I hear about Bruce Springsteen, I just can't get over how it feels like just some guys uncle yelling at a wedding. I feel the same way about anyone with this kind of voice. Benson Boone, Hosier, Mumford & Sons. Stop yelling.

Long. Lots of filler. Only one or two highlights. I imagine when it came out it was revolutionary but there have been too many new albums that are better to make it worthwhile.

Strong, but a bit too maximalist for me. I might've been burned by too many nights spent near trustafarians in Clifton, Bristol to enjoy this music.

Lou Reed's bored lilt might be endearing to some people, but it reminds me of the guys who are trying their best to be aloof and cool. That he was friends with someone as effortlessly cool with David Bowie when he made this album makes that worse. Musically a fun album, but not one that I loved.

Great musicianship, but albums like this make me realize I love a tight 40-50 minute album with 10 tracks.

Can't in good conscious give this a true listen.

I have no idea if this is honky tonk, but I like it.

Mick Hucknall's voice doesn't do it for me, and the musical accompaniment sounds like what I imagine would be playing in a clown car.

No doubt it's good and led to a lot, but Piece of my Heart will always be the standout track on the album.

Musically it's super interesting I just don't find myself loving it. I bet if I'd heard it in the 80s as new music I'd be blown away, but in 2026 the impact doesn't quite hit so hard. I think it's how treble/mid forward it is.

Musically great but Tim Buckley's voice is like nails on a chalkboard

Not a huge lover of jazz, but this jazz/samba fusion was real nice to listen to.

Sting's voice, melodies, and musical style is something that pretty much just annoys me.

I really liked the album Ghosteen by Nick Cave, but this is another case where I can't get over the way he sounds.

Surprised by this album. At first I thought it was so sparse it was bland, but it quickly clicked.

Pretty solid album by The Smiths. It's hard for me to get away from how much of a giant douche Morrissey is, and the lyrics just feel more and more pretentious the older I get. When I was an edgy teen / in my early twenties I lapped this stuff up, and now it just feels hilarious to listen to.

It’s hard to reassess 25 years after it released because it was such a huge part of my formative years, passively…you couldn’t be a teenager in England in the early 00s without being bombarded with Coldplay songs. As such my knee jerk reaction was ‘ffs, not a Coldplay album’ (note: I genuinely love the album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends). But walking and listening on an overcast breezy day shocked me…do I like Coldplay? The song that hit the hardest was In My Place, it took me by total surprise. Listening to the album in its entirety I think it was probably too sophisticated for a 12-year-old to love. But the emotion of some of the songs is undeniable. It’s still a 3/5 for me because the production/mix felt messy.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if Jarvis Cocker was the front man of some of Blur’s later albums this will give you that.

Probably excellent on release but now feels like a fever dream in a gaudy restaurant.

How can something feel so listenable and so bland at the same time? The lyrics are pretty solid and the musicality inoffensive but in 2026 it feels like this ground has been trodden a bunch of times since. The one thing I can put my finger on while listening to Louisiana 1927 is how almost twee and empty protest songs feel nowadays.
