Funeral by Arcade Fire
May 18 2026

Not their best, not their worst

Tommy by The Who
May 20 2026

Not a fan of this album although I think The Who are amongst the greatest bands ever. Doesn’t need the live repeat.

Stankonia by OutKast
May 21 2026

Really wanted to like this album. Didn’t. One good track raised it from a single star.

Parachutes by Coldplay
May 22 2026

Tried to forget it was Coldplay so I could be objective. The first 2 tracks are good.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
May 24 2026

Wasn’t looking forward to this one. Loved it!! Good old rock & roll. Yeah I know that it’s a bit of an AC/DC ripoff but doesn’t try to take itself too seriously.

I wish they’d left this behind! U2 at their worst. Inane lyrics with a nice middle of the road sound.

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
May 30 2026

Certainly not Happy. Dreadful.

Devotional Songs by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
May 31 2026

Disc1 was a bit too samey for me in a ‘Happy Clappy’ way. Disc 2 was much better

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jun 01 2026

Certainly their most commercial album. They got to play their guitars on the MTV. Not their best album but still pretty solid.

Roots by Sepultura
Jun 02 2026

Ersatz rebels. Music is too polished. Great production though.

Ramones by Ramones
Jun 03 2026

Forgot just how good this is. There is no let up in the assault on the ears. Took me back to adolescence again.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 04 2026

A decent sound. Some good, some not so good tracks

Jun 06 2026

Feel that you need to be in a smoky club at 2am to give this a decent review

American Gothic by David Ackles
Jun 07 2026

A ‘nice’ album. Reminded me a lot of Neil Diamond

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jun 08 2026

Can’t believe that this album is over 20 years old. A proper classic with no filler tracks. What a talent Amy was.

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Jun 10 2026

Sheer class like most of his work

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 13 2026

Couple of decent ish tracks but mainly dross as far as I’m concerned. Probably won’t listen to it again.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jun 14 2026

Still good.

Kimono My House by Sparks
Jun 15 2026

Excellent album. Would give 4 & a half stars if I could.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Jun 16 2026

Excellent. Not a bad track on the album. Very close to the magic 5 stars.

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Jun 18 2026

His seminal solo masterpiece.

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Jun 19 2026

Pleasant enough. Not my normal listen.

The Stooges by The Stooges
Jun 21 2026

The album that launched 1000 bands. Brilliant except for the overlong 10 minute track.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Jun 23 2026

Some albums are timeless. This isn’t one of them unfortunately. 35 years old & sounding like it on some of the tracks.

Music by Madonna
Jun 24 2026

Sophisticated pop

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jun 25 2026

Thought it was rubbish when it came out. Haven’t changed my mind. Dark Side of the Moon it ain’t & the racist lyrics nowadays go way beyond satire. Even Comfortably Numb can’t save it from a single star.

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Jun 26 2026

Bit of an acquired taste. Not sure I completely have it.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jun 27 2026

Nothing exceptional. Expected more

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Jun 28 2026

Somehow, I have never come across this album before. How refreshing it is.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jun 29 2026

Usual Beefheart - The good, the bad & the downright weird

Jul 01 2026

When Bono discovered the power of the American dollar. Bland.

Jul 02 2026

Not my genre normally. However, I really enjoyed this. Maybe a tad too long but still very good.

High Violet by The National
Jul 03 2026

Never got The National. Sorry, nothing has changed since listening to this. Probably deserved a better score.

Hypnotised by The Undertones
Jul 05 2026

Was never going to reach the heights of the debut but difficult 2nd. album nailed. Some good tunes on here.

Da Capo by Love
Jul 06 2026

Not quite as bad as I originally thought. The last track is very Doors like. Made me listen to the first part again.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jul 07 2026

Good honest R&B with the addition of that wonderful voice.

Melodrama by Lorde
Jul 08 2026

Not bad but Lana del Ray does this sort of thing better

Jul 09 2026

Difficult one to score as it’s known as the first prog album so do I give it a little extra leeway? Posh hippy fare mainly. A lot more orchestral than I remember.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jul 11 2026

This is not their best work in my opinion. One stand out track & the rest washed over me.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jul 12 2026

What a way to open an album! Unfortunately the rest of it was a bit hit & miss. Still 4+ though.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Jul 13 2026

Liked it. Quite funky.

Time Out Of Mind by Bob Dylan
Jul 15 2026

Dylan sings the blues. What’s not to like?

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Jul 16 2026

Biased as I played this to death back in the day. Still love it although not sure about the 3 extra tracks at the end.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jul 17 2026

Shows that African music is as diverse as any.

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Jul 19 2026

Didn’t listen to it all. The bit I listened to was typically Scott-Heron.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jul 20 2026

Their best album in my opinion. Just reaches 4 stars.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jul 21 2026

Easily my favourite Arcade Fire album.

The Clash by The Clash
Jul 22 2026

The best punk album ever

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Jul 23 2026

Oh those days of teenage angst! One of my favourite albums back then. Haven’t heard it for a few decades. Why not- I think it’s excellent.

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Jul 24 2026

There’s room in this world for good guitar based AOR.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jul 26 2026

Sounds like Def Leppard trying to do Pearl Jam & failing miserably. Thankfully I never need to hear it again.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jul 27 2026

Clapton is at his best when playing traditional blues. Not everything hit its mark but it’s still a good album.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jul 28 2026

A pleasant foray into mid 70’s Americana. A couple of stand out tracks. You know the ones.

Jul 29 2026

I understand that this album is very influential. It’s certainly ahead of its time. Some of the beats are really good but it’s not a genre of music I enjoy. Would I listen to it again. I’m afraid not

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jul 30 2026

It’s a decent sound. Goes on a bit.

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jul 31 2026

A proper protest album. 30 years old, change a couple of names & places and it could have been written last week!

Green by R.E.M.
Aug 01 2026

The start of their transition into more commercial material. Not a bad album, in fact better than I remember from years ago.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Aug 02 2026

Funkier than ‘Songs in the key of life’ with a little more edge.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Aug 04 2026

Underated band that never makes a bad sound.

Kala by M.I.A.
Aug 05 2026

Like a cool breath of fresh air. Loved it.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Aug 06 2026

If you could bottle swinging sixties London. This would be part of it.

Vivid by Living Colour
Aug 07 2026

Not being a fan of ‘poodle rock’ I’d never heard of this group. Listening to this, I first thought that they were a spoof band in the Spinal Tap mould. Surely no one serious would write some of these awful songs. But no, they are a serious band. I laughed all the way through. They deserve the second star for their hilarious cover of ‘Should I stay or should I go’. So bad, it’s good!

Aug 08 2026

Love the 3 albums before this one. Hate everything after this album. Dislike this album but recognise it as a decent piece of art.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Aug 09 2026

A couple of decentish tracks near the end but this group are not for me I’m afraid.

Timeless by Goldie
Aug 10 2026

I like a bit of drum & bass but a 2 hour assault on the ears was a bit much for me.

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Aug 12 2026

There might be better BB King albums IMHO but I could still listen to him all day.

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Aug 13 2026

A great film, due in no small part to a great soundtrack.

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Aug 14 2026

Eclectic mix of prog & guitar oriented rock. Different.

Marquee Moon by Television
Aug 15 2026

Back to my comfort zone. An album that I come back to frequently, obviously the stand out track is the title one but there are a lot of other good tracks on here.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Aug 16 2026

A nice easy listening album. Not the one I’d have chosen (unless of course there’s another one later).

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Aug 17 2026

This is one of his best, so why is it not mentioned more often? ‘I want you’ is special.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Aug 18 2026

First & last songs were ok. Sandwiched between was a load of dross

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Aug 19 2026

Better than I was expecting. Lots of influences in here. Especially liked the instrumental.
