Reviews (page 15 of 15)

I recognized one of these jams. Cool album.

Oh my God. I love everything about this album. Every single song. Best T Rex album hands down. He caught lightning in a bottle here. What a tight little package - so efficient/effective. Cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning in the production. The thing I think I love the most is probably his intonation/phrasing/inflection on nearly every line. So passionate and memorable. Burned into me. Unlike Donovan, Marc Bolan figured out how to transition out of the mystical 60s folk thing and into the sexy ass rock of the 70s. Both a sensitive whimsical dreamer and a rocker with some serious balls. So much catchy joy through it all. Highest caliber pleasure. There might be albums that I like more in one way or another or that mean more to me but I consider this a perfect album. Even the imperfections are perfect. Gotta listen to the expanded and remastered version. Bonus: cult favorites of mine, Flo and Eddie of the Turtles, are on backing vox. I feel they might be the real secret ingredient in making the mix really shine.

I have definitely heard some of these tracks, but never knew they were T. Rex. Another artist I'm aware of but haven't listened to much. I like it but not sure I'd listen to it on my own. Reminds me of a very subdued Queen, which makes sense considering T.Rex is considered Glam Rock. 3.5 rounded down to 3. It's a liiiiittle too poppy than I would like. I could see why some would rate it 4 or 5. Fav tracks: Monolith

As a rule of thumb, being glam rock isn't a great start if you're an album that wants to be appreciated. However, there's a definitely a couple of good songs here if you can sift through the rest of the drivel that makes up the bulk of the album.

Interesting but not memorable

A little disappointing but not bad.

Little bit off for my taste. I think it’s the singer’s voice that I just did not enjoy

Love it, so many great songs I'd heard over the years, esp cosmic dancer

Get it on gets it on, but I'm not hot on this

will def listen again, Liked the vocals, funky guitars and the psychedelic vibe some songs were like soft rock genre

Glam rock masterpiece

Ganz gut

Really interesting vibe, hard to even classify the genre, but all the songs are quite good.

Helt greit, bra stemme men litt kjedelig ellers

Fuckin' rocked.

Also very fun, very 70s. Good vibes and catchy lines.

I completely misread what kind of music T. Rex made. This is very chill, super fun guitar driven jams. There's a through-line of vulnerability in the music. I enjoyed this very much.

Very beach rock / Beatles knock-off band. It was fine but really not what I normally listen to. Stop trying to make Jeepster happen.

good style, bang a gong is fantastic but rest aren't as catchy

More upbeat and happier than I anticipated from my previous exposure to T.Rex.

Released three weeks after I was, this album is feeling its age as much as I am these days. It sounds dated, it is very seventies with no mistaking. I've always been a fan, my older sister's fault. An entire album of this might be going too far though, I could have done with a couple of tracks less. Still, a good listen.

I mean I didn't love it. There were some songs I recognized that I had no clue were by this artist - but overall, I felt like I skipped more songs on this album than listened to completely.

Nice! Quite groovy and rocky.

Bursting with energy, potential, and charm. It seems like something I should looove, but it's missing something, so I merely like it a whole lot. Nice mix of riffy rock and introspective ballads, balancing a tension that's at one laidback and yet maintains an urgent glammy ethos.

This album is very nice. I reminds me of my great uncle Ken just vibing to this one that on the dance floor at my wedding. T Rex is ultimate glam-pop-pre-punk-pre-grunge radness

Fun, Funky garage rock. I'm glad this was the first album. Off to a great start.

Soft rock, not usually my type. But then heard a song and thought, "So that's who sings this." (Bang a Gong)

Easy listen, but nothing crazy imo. Enjoyed The Motivator and Get it On (ofc) the most. 6/10

Funky I liked the Robinson squash song

T. Rex rules.

Some bangers, but lots of filler for my taste.

all songs seems very similar

Not bad. I’m pretty sure the Bang a Gong song was on a commercial but I have no idea which one and it bothers me. I wasn’t a fan at first but it grew on me.

Fedt album. Kunne måske godt vokse på en med lidt flere gennemlytninger. Rocket stil

Very very enjoyable

6/10 quite forgettable

Pretty good overall. Last song had some questionable lyrics which makes me wonder if the rest did too and I wasnt paying attention

Something i guess what Black Keys tries to execute and lot of indie folk-rock/bedroom bands as well. But this guy’s sound seems too personal when it comes to cadence. I love it, its heavyy and heaven-sent. The glam isn’t being shined but its all spilled in pretty dark matter. album is fuckin splendid

One of my favorite albums, all-time. Top to bottom, it is great. Effortless psych boogie. Sure, The Motivator is just a Bang A Gong part 2, but this is an essential album. If I don't give this 5 stars, I'm not sure there are any 5 star albums.

S teir glam rock masterpiece

Pretty good, has some excellent songs. Could use more energy and ocasionally lags a bit. Closer to a 3.5

Pop personified…. This is just rockin rollin melodies!
