A true Rock ‘N Roll classic. Always a good choice. (Listened to it on Apple Music)
Really surprised how much I liked this one. His energy is infectious and you can’t help but tap your feet. Thought it would be before that critical change in music between the 50s and 60s
An oldie but a goodie. It’s a whole lot of fun. The songs are pretty simple but Little Richard brings them a lot of energy that makes them more interesting to listen to than a lesser performer would.
Classic absolutely loved this, so much energy you can't help but move to this, its really upbeat and fun
Kinda have to give the nod and a five star here. It’s stuff that seems standard now, but was trailblazing at the time. Some legit bangers on here and some filler, but well-crafted filler. For trendsetting alone this gets five, but the quality is also there, given the limitations of recording at the time it’s honestly remarkable.
К сожалению, такого жанра музыка, точнее музыка времен этой песни, меня не цепляет вообще, я уважаю это как "исскуство", но слушать бы не стал. Исключительно на один раз, для того, чтобы знать что это
Little Richard music is just fun. Strolling or rolling. My fave is “Slippin’ & Slidin” - “oh big conniver, nothin but a jiver” a is fun lyric. I didn’t realize Sally was bald-headed until today. “Rip It up” is another fun one. They’re all fun even if some seem interchangeable. No wonder his music is still played.
7 - GOOD
I like the multiple takes on this album
I love rock and roll. Historic blueprint, and it sounds amazing too.
Un clásico! Excelente disco!
I’m a sucker for this stuff, very much enjoyed listening to this.
This was pretty great. Good blues and r&b, i loved the pianos and horns and he has a nice voice as well, it was distracting when I was working on school lol. It came out in 1957 but tbh it doesn’t feel that dated to me which is a good sign. I would listen again, 3.854/5
meh
not my jam/ general listening music, but heard tutti frutti before and it’s groovy
Classic, pivotal, impactful, jazzy. Fun.
Definitely influential and very catchy at times. Not really for me though, 3 stars.
This is a fun record, whether or not you like old fashioned rock 'n' roll, delivered by an expert practitioner of the genre. Some absolute stand-out songs (esp Long Tall Sally). Yes, a lot of them sound similar, and the music is generally just a background for his voice, but what a voice! And it sounds like he's having a lot of fun as well.
Fun tone but nothing much more for me. I’m sure it was fairly revolutionary and innovative back in the day but failed to capture my heart.
Early rock n roll which nearly sounds all the same
Very interesting album, good songs, some sentimental vocals, with really good production and instruments. Probably, I will return here more times.
Get little Richard out of here
Classic sound
Ready Teddy is great
Starkt album för sin ålder. Det historiska värdet gör sitt till också.
I grew up on 50s rock n roll, so I was always gonna rate this a 5. Sure it’s got a few filler songs, but the highs are just too good.
I will not include the bonus tracks from the 2012 expanded edition in this review. Alright, let's get the nitpicks out of the way. Yes, this is a compilation album with the A-side and B-side tracks from the singles Little Richard released up to this point. Yes, the weaker tracks are some of those B-sides that dial the energy back for something with a little more emotional weight but don't pan out, like "Baby" and "Miss Ann". But man, when Little Richard got going, he got going. His hard-driving uptempo sound with sexually suggestive lyrics and hollering refrains established the archetype for rock & roll music, where even Elvis Presley and The Beatles took influence from him. I was already familiar with "Tutti Frutti" and "Long Tall Sally", but plenty of tracks on this record, like "Ready Teddy", "True, Fine Mama", "Slippin' and Slidin'", and "Jenny, Jenny" also showcase that firepower and tenacity in the performance with him and his backing band. Plus, it was cool to see that Richard wrote over half the songs on this album, and his words shone in the cheeky playfulness that he employed. Even with my earlier nitpicks, Here's Little Richard is still a good album that's held up long after making its mark in music history.
It's the same song! And up next we have Little Richard with The Same Song
The freaking birth of rock n roll. A voice that itched my brain in the best way possible. Fucking awesome.
Sooooo fun.
Not bad
I can absolutely see why so many artists of a certain age claim this was a huge influence. It’s a giant shot of adrenaline that must have been revolutionary when it came out
It's Little Richard true rock king
he's little and he's richard
Every song sounds the same and is very safe.
Of course it is super influential and cool that Little alone gave birth to rock n roll, but after a few songs it gets too repetetive.

Tutti Frutti – Alright! We're starting off dancing on our feet. Amazing vocals—his falsetto howl is a gold standard. Very clean, very pleasant. (Now I know where James Brown, MJ, and Prince got that from!) And let's not even mention the saxophone solo by Lee Allen—it is a chef's kiss. This is how an opening track should be. Amazing opener. True, Fine Mama – Nice driving, boogie-woogie piano playing at the start. Very impressive vocals here. Not crazy about the backing vocal harmonies, though. Can't Believe You Wanna Leave – We go slower this time. Still great vocals, but it gets a bit too loud/hot in the mix, especially on his high notes. Great horn solo. Ready Teddy – What can I say? High-quality vocal performance here. Baby – Nothing more to say here. Just listen to it. Slippin' and Slidin' – Very danceable track here. We can hear that signature vocal cue / percussive shout ("AWW!") right before the solos. Long Tall Sally – Similar sounding to the previous track, but it's not a problem—his performance here still has that same raw energy and driving groove. Miss Ann – The vocal runs (melismas) here are strong, but the melody still sounds a bit repetitive. Oh Why? – Not as similar sounding as the previous tracks. A nice change of pace. Great job. Rip It Up – Similar in structure to Tutti Frutti. Still very danceable. Jenny, Jenny – His most playful and theatrical vocal performance here. However, the vocals are mixed too loud on this track, and the instruments get drowned out a bit. She's Got It – Still very similar melodically, just at a higher tempo. OVERALL THOUGHTS This is the oldest album in this project so far. I thought I would hate it, but it's the exact opposite—I'm actually very impressed. Let's start with the strong points: it's obviously Little Richard's vocal performance. The soul, the vocal runs, the falsettos, and the gospel-style ad-libs are incredible. He's up there with the best, and he is clearly the blueprint for why James Brown, Michael Jackson, and Prince sing the way they do. It's thanks to this guy right here. Now for the things I didn't care for as much: melodically, the tracks are fairly repetitive and predictable. But that's okay—it's still very enjoyable to hear. Based on vocals alone, I'd give it a 5. But as an overall complete album, I'll give it a 4. It's just not something I'll constantly replay. I had fun listening to it, but it's not the style of music I listen to on a regular basis. Favorite Song: Tutti Frutti Will I listen to this album again? I don't think so. Will I recommend this album? Yes. If somebody ask me for a classic music I'll recommend this album.
This was good album. I like Little Richard. His influence in rock n roll is undeniable. To take a black gay anthem and make it a hit for white American was even better. He should have been bigger. Most of these songs had the same formula. But his playing is undeniable and great. Such an amazing talent.
Good stuff! Yes it's essential! 8
Foundational (check) Groundbreaking (sure) Classic (fine) Infamous (yep) On constant repeat (nah)
Really interesting to hear this after reading how influenced Dylan and the Beatles were by him.
What is it that makes Lil Rick so cuddly? The music isn’t so different from I dunno Chuck Berry, the attitudes to women might not be so different even from I dunno Jerry Lee Lewis. The flamboyant persona helps in like a drag way, but overall there’s seemingly an x-factor at play here and I like it.
Rock n' roll started with a bang with "Here's Little Richard". "Tutti Fruitti" will always be a classic. The main problem with "Here's Little Richard" is that most of the songs sound too similar to each other. That's the problem with most rock n' roll albums. I hope I get an album that will blow me away tomorrow. 3 stars for "Here's Little Richard".
Great but don’t think I could listen to more than ten songs in a row. Definitely crazy how influential he was
Fun
Yeah this is zesty and different, could listen to this several times and keep liking. Just don't love it.

The Beatles are one of my favourite bands of all time so of course I enjoyed this. You can tell how much of an influence Little Richard had on them, legend.
Au wänn er 200% git han i d Musig irgendwänn au ghört
Tutti fruity on rooty
A) Pat Boone's Tutti Frutti is a Crime Against Rock. B) This is great background music for your favorite first-person shooter.
So much of it came from here
Another early raw sound and one that lost of the later rock music is based on. How this must have sounded in the mid 1950s must have been a shock to the music world. That said there is a formula and formula and most of the songs follow the same pattern but even so well worth a listen
Day1004 - gotta love one of the original rockers. what fun songs
Tutti frutti baby wooo yeah woo heyyy hohhhhhhh woo Got a bit bored towards the end. Enjoyed some of the demos as they seemed a little more unedited and sort of, not well thought out? Than what you’d usually get. 2.0/5.0 Best Song: Tutti Frutti
Very mid, i know he created it all, but he also just does the same song over and over
Good ol' Rock n' Roll, in its purest form. Solid 4 Stars.
I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll obviously bump up to a 5. There’s not too much to say, I think. You can hear Little Richard pushing the tempo, pace & sex appeal of Rock & Roll forward with this one. His vocals have a gritty wail to them that feels like it’s touching the sky, his lust is evident (yet not too crazy for 1957), and his energy is undeniable. Yes, it’s a bit same-y throughout, and it’s the only reason why I’m at a 4.5, but it’s impossible to ignore the foundation for a slightly harder rock & roll (& a slightly harder tone of music, in general) being laid here. Even the big band jazz in the back feels like they’re playing at a pace unheard of for the time; the closest analog I can think of is Elvis Presley’s rendition of Hound Dog, and even still, it’s not as fast as some of the tracks on this album. Little Richard just feels like a force majeure on this album, and everyone else followed in his footsteps. The tree of influence here spreads very far & very wide, and perhaps more than I even know. Hell, I’d argue this might be the catalyst for the end of the ‘traditional’ songbook period, given Little Richard wrote most of these himself. It’s a landmark piece of music, and while it’s not the greatest album experience in the world, you probably can’t tell the story of music itself without this one. It’s more than worthy of being on the list. Frankly, it’d be criminal if it wasn’t. Hence, a 4.5 bumped up to a 5.
Good album! I like all the songs, good pacing, and fun to jam to! Least favorite song was Jenny Jenny.
Can’t get more quintessential 1950’s sound than this. Tutti Frutti - classic. There were a few other songs (Ready Teddy, Long Tall Sally) that sounded almost identical, but there was decent variety otherwise. (4)
muito bom, clássico demais. gostei de parar pra ouvir tudo.
dá pra entender a influência e as raízer de muita coisa. mas é doido ver como um gênero que alguns anos depois geraria vários subgêneros muito diversos começou com um som tão formulaico.
This album is full of absolute classic hits. In putting together this album, they took six of his songs that were already released as singles and had been big hits and added in six new songs. Are the "other" songs a little bit of filler? Absolutely. But this could pretty much be considered a greatest hits album. Little Richard is one of the main people responsible for basically creating rock n' roll and this album has some of the earliest examples of rock hits out there. So while it may not be everyone's style of music and it may sound dated at this point, it is absolutely an album everyone should listen to at least once in their life. I sometimes question albums and how they made it on the list. This one is no question that it belongs.
Great album. Building blocks of rock and roll.
Tutti frutti, I already know and is a great song. After listening to the album. I have to say its good. My new favorite add to the first one is. Rip it up, and Miss Ann. Baby and oh why is also okay but not my favorite.
Not really my style
It might be the same thing again and again. But he did it damn well.
Wonderful, wonderful rock and roll.
5: I will happily play this album anytime 4: I may occasionally play this album of my own free will 3: I will happily listen to this if someone plays it in the background 2: I will tolerate this if it is playing in the background 1: I will leave the room if someone plays this in the background
3/5
8/10… rock‘n roll / boogie / *1957
Classic songs from a man whose style and performance influenced so many of those after him - even if they do not realize that fact. That being said…..I enjoy the music and experience but would not seek out many of the albums of this era. While I like the music it is very repetitive.
Probably quite radical in its day but not for me now.
Bit samey and did not like his voice
I’m not listening to this crap
Fun.
Cool to think this music is 70 years old. Great listen if your touring music history, otherwise not much here that aged well
Fun early rock'n'roll. 4 stars
I though this was a really good document of early rock and roll. Little Richard was probably the first great rock singer, and he really brought a wild, unhinged element to rock music, which was a little squeaky clean in 1955. I do think "Tutti Fruitti" and "Long Tall Sally" kind of overshadow the rest of the album, but there are some other good tunes here - "Ready Teddy", "Rip it Up", and "True Fine Mama" are all cool. Obviously, the genre got better, but this is a fine start. 4 stars.
Definitely on the Mt Rushmore of important early rock n rollers. Grossly important and influential. All the greats from the past 70 years have drawn big bucks from this guy. Paul McCartney borrowed a huge amount of shrieky tricks from him and made Long Tall Sally a key part of Beatles early live set. Scritti Politti modelled their band name in part over Tutti Frutti. Prince owed a huge amount of his gospeliness, flamboyance, oozy sexuality as well as fashion around the time of 1999 and Purple Rain to Little Richard. Lou Reed pinched the “I’ve been told that you’ve been bold” rhyme from Slippin’ And Slidin’ for his Satellite Of Love. It doesn’t make for a great album though as you’re looking at Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally as the only main essential highlights with Slippin’ And Slidin’ at a push and then a bunch of other rock and roll songs which start off fun but get very old and samey very quick.
Nu börjar det bli väldigt udda…men lwk diggar. Ska man på 50-tals dansbana så går det hårt
Absolutely groundbreaking music that is the roots of rock and roll. And that voice is just incredible.
Nice! Fun to listen to. Love the saxophones.
Good fun, cracking voice, enjoyed it
On the scale of all music it’s a 3.5 but in context of its time it’s really a 4.5 or 5. Gonna round up to 4. Rock’n’Roll
Undeniable influence on rock 'n' roll and music as a whole. 12 bar blues will sound primitive and repetitive today of course, but you kind of have to put yourself in the era and consider what the music landscape was offering at the time. It's fun and full of high-energy, one can only imagine what it was like to witness Little Richard in a live performance. I'll always give these early rock 'n' roll records their flowers (unless they're actually shit).
Starts strong. Drags a little in the middle. Finishes on a high note. 6 keepers in 12 (50%).
He's gotta good voice
Just such a fun time. And Tutti Frutti has gotta be one of the best debut openers for sure.
Good classic rock n’ roll album. Very formulaic, I can see being innovative in its time. Didn’t stand out for me, but also didn’t had a bad time. Solid!
Both of rock and roll
listened to this with a miserable headache expecting it to make me feel worse but it actually cheered me up a bit. thank u little richard :)
Very funny to get this album the day after getting an Elvis album; just night and day how much better Little Richard is.
Groundbreaking album and essential for rock and roll, the debut album of Little Richard is a must listen to understand the shift in the 50’s from the crooners to rock’n’roll. Even though I think it’s a bit repetitive, Tutti Frutti and Long Tail Sally are massive hits. You can see the shift with the vocals, the fast-paced saxophone. It was a nice 30 minutes. 3/5. Always cool to hear those precursors before the birth of a genre. Tutti Frutti: 5 True, Fine Mama: 3 Can’t Believe You Wanna Live: 3 Ready Teddy: 3 Baby: 3 Slippin’ and Slidin’: 3 Long Tail Sally: 5 Miss Ann: 3 Oh Why?: 3 Rip It Up: 3 Jenny, Jenny: 3 She’s Got It: 3
It's not that the album is bad per se, more just that every song seems to blend together. It's not clear to me why some became hits and others didn't.
I feel bad giving this such a low rating — but it’s just hard for me to get excited about rock music *this* old school and primitive. Little Richard was an insanely talented dude who was so, so important to music history, but I have no desire to listen to all of these songs back-to-back-to-back. I’d rather watch a live concert video of him doing his thing!
classic, fun, should revisit more often
