The rest are still bangers. Great album front to back. Pure rock and roll!
I’ve listened to She Talks to Angels a handful of times today. It’s a beautiful song.
Always a fan of some good soul music. With this album only having 4 songs and 3 of them extended, I can’t really peg a particular favorite/liked song. Overall liked the groove. Some of the songs went on too long though.
I respect this album. It’s just too “noisy” for me. However, I commend the shift in rock music that happened as a result of this album and appreciate that which came after it.
Enjoy the opener Is This It and Last Nite but nothing else really stands out to me.
Nice mix of music with vocals and instrumentals. Enjoyed the variety of genres here. This is a good background listening album.
This was in frequent rotation in my early years. Eminem changed the hip hop game for me.
I’m in the “Radiohead is overrated” camp. This is something I can listen to in the background but didn’t grow any attachment to it.
Hang Down Your Head
Time
Gun Street Girl
Downtown Train
4/19
Only liking 4 of the 19 tracks may be unfair. I cannot say I’ve actually actively listened to Tom Waits before today. I knew he existed but couldn’t name anything by him.
Listening to this makes me want to explore his music more. It’s weird and quirky.
I’ll give this 3 stars but it’s more like 3.5.
Good to listen to. It would be a background album.
David Bowie does soul.
This has to be a full album experience.
Definitely has some good grooves on this.
Interesting album.
It’s loud and abrasive for 1966.
Appreciate its significance in musical history.
It’s not for my ears though. Probably would not revisit.
More electronic music on this journey. I could easily pair this with Massive Attack’s album. There’s some slight differences within the genre. Regardless, another decent background album.
A nice byproduct of the Strokes and the garage rock movement of the early 2000s. This one pleases my ears a lot more than Is This It does.
Great album. A little something of everything. I didn’t need Apple Jam T the end but it was still good. This deserves repeat listening.
Very enjoyable jazz album.
I was always a big fan of the Peanuts soundtrack so this reminds me of it.
Definitely will explore more of this group.
Really liked the sound of this group. Definitely fits in the garage band revival era of early 2000s however has more hints of psychedelic sounds of the 60s. Will explore more.
Solid 80s country album. Listened to it passively in one sitting.
Great album. Such an interesting story to how it was made.
Not my cup of tea. Skank and Praise You was everywhere in the late 90s and I’m still not ready to revisit.
Haunting post punk 80s album
A classic that I’ve given many spins already. Not a bad track on here.
Great dad rock. Classic singles here. Great licks on the guitar. Really dug Brothers in Arms.
Started out strong but some of the songs were a little too loud
Great live rock album. I’ve slept on Thin Lizzy!
Love the rawness of this. U2 would be very polished later in their career. This is a young U2 with a lot to say.
Decent 70s rock album. Has a little psychedelica mixed in.
Very good folk album with some traditional British sounds.
Great heartland rock. Bruce can sing me stories any time.
Perfectly fine singer-songwriter album
A product of the early 2000s garage rock movement. I appreciate for what it is. There’s some songs that are rough on the ears for me. This was going to be a 2 star after the first couple of tracks but then there would be something to pull me back in.
Like the sound. Some of it is a little repetitive
Fantastic album. Definitely feel some Beatles vibes here. Definitely a precursor to the 70s soft era.
Another that I’ll appreciate for what it is. Blue isn’t my go to.
It’s fine. It’s definitely a vibe.
What a quirky album. Definitely going to need some relistens.
A few tracks I liked. Some of the dance stuff wasn’t my vibe. I will always love Don’t Tell Me.
Enjoyed it. My family called it elevator music.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Took me back to the TRL days.
Tribe is my go to 90s hip hop
Decent 80s rock. Not as cheesy as some of the other hair metal of the era.
So good. The Beach Boys start growing up!
Sometimes you just need a good honky tonk album. I enjoyed this discovery. I don’t believe I’ve ever consciously listened to Joe.
This was pretty awesome. Loved the intro.
Never really listened to salsa intently before. Pretty good.
This is a wild one. I really wanted to like it. I appreciate it for what it is but it’s pretty noisy.
I enjoyed this. Good vocals. Good alt sound.
Definitely easy on the ears. Appropriate that this popped up on Dad’s birthday.
Loving this! The Waterboys are a new discovery for me. Definitely a discography I want to continue to explore.
Folky psych. I dig it man.
Other than the crossover hits, haven’t listened to much Marley. Enjoy the vibe. Best thing about this project is doing a bit of research on the artist. Love that he gave writing credits to family and friends in order to take care of them.
Such a prolific album. It has such range. Heavy stuff, soft melodic stuff. Timeless songs like Tonight, Tonight. Run time is at 2 hours so it’s a long journey.
This was all over the place. But that’s what you get with psych folk.
Love this. I remember when I first listened to it. I wondered why I hadn’t listened to the Smiths sooner.
Some beautiful sounds here. Love the theming. There’s a couple of weird tracks but overall liked it.
Good jazz fusion album. It’s quick. Sometimes feels like it’s Weather Channel. However, I’m always looking for ways to branch out into the jazz style.
Significant early rock. Very easy to listen to.
Adding in the acoustics. Good album. Not my favorite Zep but has one of the all time rockers, Immigrant Song.
Great groovy rock. Enjoyed the live tracks on the expanded too.
Didn’t hate this. It was a good mellow album to put on throughout the day.
Electronic isn’t my go to genre. Again, I can appreciate it for what it is, but probably won’t revisit.
Good album. Especially as the genesis of what was to come. The vinyl was surprisingly a little flat. The singles are very catchy. This isn’t my go to Foo though.
I think I enjoyed this more than Hail to the Thief. Radiohead is a blind spot. Trying to decide if I like them.
Enjoyed it. Interesting to go from Kid A to this. This is the type of electronic rock blend I can get into.
Ray Charles is another blind spot. Enjoyed the idea of side 1 being upbeat jazzy numbers and side 2 being the softer ballad side.
It’s one and done for me. I do like British rap though.
Good listen. I liked the mix of styles throughout.
As much as I enjoyed Melon Collie, I think I enjoyed this more.
Great vocals from a legend.
Good music. Vocals grated on me a bit.
Appreciate the art. Too noisy for me.
‘Ol Blue Eyes was a treat to listen to. Just enjoy the vibe.
This was a surprise like. Really enjoyed the Americana country rock vibes.
Probably should give it another listen. I’ve tried to get into the Stones but they’re really just a greatest hits band for me.
Flawless album. 10 stars. My appreciation for it has grown with separation. The singles get overplayed on 90s rock stations and playlists. However, they’re awesome. Black may be the greatest Pearl Jam song.
Title track is such a great song. Definitely some other standouts. Enjoyed Traveling Man, Here I Am, and Early Morning Breeze. I will admit I cannot listen to Dolly for too long before the voice gets on my nerves a bit 😬
Definitely enjoyed this dream pop album. Would love to keep digging into their catalogue.
Great Christmas album. Classic songs front to back.
One of my favorites. Electronic isn’t my go to but I bought this shortly after it came out. Listened to it many times. With 18 tracks, there are a couple that are just fine. However, there are many that are beautiful.
