SZAAbsolutely gorgeous Normal Girl and Go Gina supremacy I loved the hints of her grandmother throughout
Absolutely gorgeous Normal Girl and Go Gina supremacy I loved the hints of her grandmother throughout
No skips I love the basslines and African elements Crosseyed and Painless/Once in a Lifetime were my favourites I would easily listen to this again
Mimi's best album by fat, Emancipation might tip her crown but for now, I am a Butterfly stan. Lead single is one of the best songs about (sea-men_ ever and her vocals are incomparable Breakdown deserved to go diamond, I love the layering and the verses, Mariah's pen goes as hard as ever on this album and it's so cohesive and vital to her imperial era. Definitely a leg up from Daydream But surprisingly my favourite song is Fly Away reprise, David Morales popped off with the house remix, something for the gays and girls to dance to in the summertime I see. Happy Pride everyone. That's a real fucking legacy to leave. No notes. Not a single skip.
- Seemed unfinished and unpolished - Nice lyricism on Kurt's part
VERY EXCELLENT
Great lyricism
So different
Absolutely gorgeous Normal Girl and Go Gina supremacy I loved the hints of her grandmother throughout
A really great introduction to Shoegaze, One of the songs reminds me of No Care by Daughter. The intro was my favourite.
I liked the first half more than the second half but it was sooo good!
I only liked two songs, nice and short, minimal production but nothing crazy
The middle section of the album was ok, there is a country type sounding ballad that was horrid but the intro and outro are some of the strongest pieces in pop music!
Piano girl popped off, haunting vocals, sick hooks and she's CRAZY FOR THE SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT COVER. i love you and in the pink even more
Of Moons, Birds & Monsters and Time to Pretend are the best songs of all time. The production is intricate and I'm so proud of the accomplishments being that this album was made 2006-2008.
Welcome To New York was a questionable intro track Blank Space, Out of The Woods, I Wish You Would, All You Had To Do Was Stay, How You Get The Girl, I Know Places, Wonderland and Clean are excellent songs with beautiful lyricism Best songs on the album: Style (the backing vocals and the additional production was INSANE), Wildest Dreams (I thoroughly enjoyed the heartbeat, the strings and the production), This Love, You Are In Love, New Romantics like she put such amazing effort into the synth programming. The BRIDGE on Wildest Dreams and OOTW are like no other, such amazing work truly I love the guitars and droning sounds on Style, I Know Places and other tracks. If Shake it Off and Bad Blood weren't on it, it'd be a 10/10 but it can only be an 8.5. Lmao I'm listening to Style as we speak.
NO SKIPS
For his debut album, this album goes hard!
There is not one bad song on this album. Amy Jade Winehouse is on a different level vocally and lyrically and I loved the reggae, soul, doo wop and jazz especially hearing the traces of older black music whether it was interpolated or sampled. Best songs: Rehab, Addicted, Back to Black, Love is a Losing Game Fave songs: He Can Only Hold Her, Just Friends, Me and Mr. Jones She deserved album of the year and it was just 35 minutes of pure bliss. RIP Amy
The title track is a behemoth of a song His vocals are insane! Splendid songwriting and even better production. RIP Jeff
I loved the simplicity, I loved Honey, Porcelain and the B-sides. It was pretty long though
Where Did You Sleep Last Night and Come As You Are had me in shambles
You already know who it is
Their third best album Insane basslines throughout
It's good
The writing was splendid and the imagery travelled throughout each track The piano wasn't grand but made the listening experience that much better This is my 10th time listening to this album and my favourites are still: Home Again, Tapestry, Natural Woman and Smackwater Jack
This album was obviously a step up from Pageant Material and I loved how blissful it felt, she managed to weave multiple genres without making it sound clunky. Her writing isn't as poetic as most but still evocative in its simplicity My favourite tracks are: Velvet Elvis, Wonderwoman, Slow Burn, Golden Hour To be honest the middle part of the album are kind of skips for me but she definitely redeems herself near the end The best song on the album is Lonely Weekend hands down Her vocals are very smooth which makes it delightful to listen to Her producers did a very good job, the tracks are seamless and the additional country elements with world instruments make me feel like I'm in a different universe
I absolutely love Speed Trials and it's not because it's the first song on the album. Excellent writing. Can't wait to get into the rest of his discography
No skips I love the basslines and African elements Crosseyed and Painless/Once in a Lifetime were my favourites I would easily listen to this again
I have not listened to the full album yet because I am too busy listening to the title track and replaying it but it is a BANGER! Def top 5 David Bowie albums Gotta love Fame, sad John Lennon is on it though
Cherry-coloured funk is one of the most important songs in the history of dream pop and it feels like the final tunnel scene in the Perks of Being A Wallflower I really like Pitch the Baby A humongous fan of Iceblink Luck Not to mention how excellent the DRUMS AND GUITARS ARE I love the title track I am biased but my most listened-to songs have to be fotzepolitic I barely skip any of the songs on the album which is a key thing for me The essence of vertigo and not knowing where you are is what I love the most, I also really enjoy the fact that it's blurry and Elizabeth's vocals are not really easy to hear. Top 100 albums of all time for sure
For Her, Ladies, Shameika are instant classics I love how this was recorded and mixed The songwriting is Fiona's pinnacle essence of talent I wish there was more production but I love her quirks all throughout like the dolphin noises and background stuff
Very soothing but nothing going on
Good Fortune is one of the top rock songs of the decade You Said Something is my favourite song in the history of music This is my 10th relisten and I love Polly Jean Harvey This Mess We're In was gutwrenching but I am not a fan of the other duet
Four Women deserves an Academy Award period. Black is the colour of my true love's hair is so tranquil and heartbreaking This album flows well together and you can tell that the lyricism is something she's not trying to force I don't think this is an album I can repeat and I have some skips but I will definitely warm up to it soon because she's an icon
Help Me is my love life Free Man in Paris is excellent I am not a woman of many words but the greatest cacophony of sounds you've ever heard comes from this very album it's so rich and it feels like walking into a blooming field My favourite song/ most played is probably People's Parties and I get very sad and melodramatic reflecting on what she means. Sometimes I wish I wrote, but I didn't so I just learned the words. Joni has plenty albums but I feel like this one is easily in her Top 5
I haven't listened to the whole thing but it's a banger from what I heard so far tango was definitely resuscitated with this masterpiece vuelvo al sure, santa maria and una musical brutal
Talk about the album of the decade Album opener (All I Want) 10/10 and River 10/10 There are no words to actually describe what Joni Mitchell put into this but let me just say there's before listening to Blue and after listening to Blue
Funny how Lizzie has left Earth Cemetry Gates is a bop Excellent album because the lyricism really is top notch There is nothing much to say because the music is too good but ya
Coyote is one of the most vivid experiences in the history of music, a must-listen to The rest of the songs were absolutely splendid, the atmosphere felt a bit dull at times but almost every Joni album is a 5
should have won album of the year at the 2015 grammys, it's insane I still have to pick my fave song because it changes each time like she's so sick for this excellence
i know alot of these songs because of the metallic blacklist and I enjoyed them. The songs were very long and I feel like there was lots of space but good for the most part
willow is a banger champagne problems is a career highlight gold rush is my FAVOURITE and personally top 3 on the album Tis the damn season is sooo good happiness is basically a grown version up red, love the divorce i only actually started listening to this album because I saw the HAIM feature an it is easily the best story/narrative song on this album ivy, dorothea, long story short Marjorie is so haunting right where you left me IS TOP 3 ON THE ALBUM, omg it makes me so sad, literally can't stop playing i title track with Bon Iver. I need these two to do a whole collab album. Aaron Dessner really outdid himself, God bless him! this album is clearly her best writing wise, very minimal and not a lot of vocal highlights but i am very surprised that i like and listen to this more than folklore and 1989. I looovveee evermore, gaylor for the win i am not sure what crack she laced in this but it is utter perfection! well done tay tay
When we talk about the top 10 albums of 2017, this better be among that list because Ella went INNNNNN. Let's start with the iconic Green Light, Jay Gatsby could never amount to this level of icon status Sober is my drunk anthem and the BRIDGE Jack Antonoff gets a lot of hate but he has solidified his main pop girl status with this Homemade Dynamite is so smart, so teenage self destruction The creativity of the titles are so camp I am so upset she lost album of the year to that MJ impersonator Anywho, The Louvre always has me in my feels I am approaching my 19th birthday and I am so excited to feel this album course through my veins Liability, interlude and title track are all precious Writer in the Dark almost had me admitted to a psych ward, I'm not kidding I lost weight from crying to this masterpiece I am so upset that I am listening to this when I should be studying for my exams ahhhh Hard Feelings is going to put me in a coma, it's so depressing ahhhh Gotta love shaking some ass and that is what Loveless came to serve, she's putting the shrimp on the barbie, a party girl to her COOOREE. I love how all over the place the album is, it is so confined to this one house party but she travels through so many locations with her words. A WRITER. HER PEN'S INK WILL NEVER RUN DRY. Jesus literally talks about this in the bible Supercut and Perfect Places deserve a Pulitzer and nothing less. That joint smokes too hard I imagine a tv show ending every time I hear Perfect Places and I kind of covet the loneliness and euphoria of a highschool party, no matter how lame. I want it bad. Ella congrats for creating such a masterpiece, this will surely be going in the Louvre. Rest assured Queenie I wish women got more credit. The production is bomb but y'all already knew that
Nicks/Buckingham really propelled them to such great heights. Probably top 5 in their discography Second Hand News- awesome opener Dreams - stevie nicks perfection, the bass is iconic and this being their only number 1 single is a crime but we move Go Your Own Way - i love when talented couples write about one another on the album Don't Stop - upbeat banger The Chain - this is what music was created to DOOOO You Make Loving Fun - rip Christine mcvie, you ate on this masterpiece I love the theme of gossip, chisme, turmoil and love, it just makes the lyrics seem more spiteful, the playing more enticing, the wordplay is as enticing as the production and they put their whole MACK into the instrumentals.
Where do I begin with but excellence A masterclass in lyricism. the 1996 grammys was a hot mess but i am happy she won aoty, also she's not a one hit wonder, homegirl wrote so unsexy for fucking sake I find it quite interesting how young women in their brutal coming of age albums, they are able to communicate what seems so difficult to explain It's not just a good band, good production, good singing but superb lyrics I feel at one with this album because it's more than the acclaim but it touches every soul it encounters All I Really Want: it screams so absurdist theory, harmonica queen, that is how you OPEN A FUCKING ALBUM You Oughta Know: dump your ex now, i don't care if you don't want to, headbanger, Hayley Williams origin story Perfect: the African child in me is screaming, I am tired of pleasing parents who don't even care about me Hand In My Pocket: very social change, ce n'est pas un pipe, love it, harmonica icon You Learn: life lessons, very croony, join Mitchell would be proud, troubadour alert Head Over Feet: swoony girl beat, still catchy tho, love a good harmonica break, Alanis is really good at those, she's those folk men a run for their MONEY Not The Doctor: awesome work ironic: the bridge actually gives me mental strife sometimes, that's how good it is, i love a good life lessons song, you'd hear this song and think homegirl has lived a lifetime but nope, only two decades. excellent, English teachers around the world are itching to use this in their lesson plan, they complain too much but there is irony. I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS IN A JUKEBOX MUSICAL, i am kinda upset at the musical version of this still good stuff the bass! i don't know how she casually got RHCP to play for her at times but i love that for her this album belongs in the louvre (no I'm not listening to melodrama again for the 250th time crying at 3am, YOU ARE!) in all seriousness, God bless this piece of work, cemented her in greatness from one Canadian gal to another, thank you so much Alanis
I liked how short and concise the album was, I must say that. The drumming was fun. Jack's screaming and lyrics were impeccably absurd. I really liked We Are Gonna Be Friends
All hail Kate Bush Often times we see the lists saying that this is her best album, her magnum opus and to be honest it truly is. She has released back to back perfection and The Hounds of Love is NOOOO different I'm quite ecstatic that this is my first album of the year Running Up That Hill - 9.5/10 Hounds Of Love - 10/10 The Big Sky - 9.5/10 Mother Stands For Comfort - 8/10 Cloudbusting - 1000/10 The first half of the album are hits exemplified, they truly are the epitome of excellence, I loved her vocals and I am a huge fan of the synths. People oftentimes shit on the 80s decade but I think some of the most important albums in history came from this period. (Remain In Light, Thriller, Like A Prayer etc.) And Dream Of Sheep - 8/10 Under The Ice - 8/10 Waking The Witch - 8.5/10 Watching You Without Me 8/10 Jig Of Life - 9/10 Hello Earth - 9.5/10 Morning Fog - 10/10 The story behind this shocks me and impresses me each time. I love the sea shanty, Irish jig vibe that is going on during the Jig Of Life. Morning Fog is so compelling and I can't believe the storyline that is going on here. I can't believe that she was doing this between the ages of 25-27. Very ahead of her time and ICONIC. The first time I listened to this album, I kind of checked out halfway but still appreciated what I had heard to and ugh, I don't know how she or anyone could top it! And she produced this!!! Triple threat and legend I must say. My fave album from her and I will probably recommend this to everyone hopefully they appreciate it as much as I do
I am so happy that I got to spend my birthday listening to another KATE BUSH ALBUM Sat In My Lap - 10/10 (talk about philosophy) Suspended In Gaffa- 100/10 (THIS IS MY FAVE ON THE ALBUM AND ONE OF MY TOP 10 FROM HER) The rest of the album was excellent I love how I genuinely hear things I have not heard before or am not accustomed too She thinks too outside of the box I genuinely think that Kate Bush should be studied in schools and her philosophical music is on par with Talking Heads
I am a fan of Sheryl Crow at times I liked the songwriting on this album
I really loved the singles The whole album is good Definitely not their best but the addition of Melissa Auf De Mar is awesome Don't replay it as much as I would like to Maybe my opinion will change
Definitely not Adele's best album but the singles were superb. Her voice is excellent, the piano is excellent I do not know how in God's name Beyonce lost to this when 21 was Adele's best. Having heard 30 makes me realize that Adele could expand more sonically and artistically
I loved Glory I loved Divorce Song and Never Said The album is prime 90s angst
I've gotten through most of the album and I enjoyed it The production is crisp and I love Nick Zinner's work Karen O is as awesome as ever Notable Tracks: Heads Will Roll, Dull Life, Runaway, Hysteric
Sleep to Dream - 8/10 Sullen Girl - 8/10 Shadowboxer - 8/10 Criminal - 10/10 a song over 3 minutes that's gets me going, I love how she blames herself, she's so slay Slow Like Honey - so ahead of the curve that it became a sphere The First Taste - icon/10 Never Is A Promise - I'm loving the title The Child Is Gone - loss of innocence archetype, come on GCSE English Pale September - mhm mother 9/10 Carrion - 10/10 Beautiful melodies and the playing is fragile yet complex. My teenage years have been solidified by this wonderful masterpiece. Debut album slaying bitches before she could even legally drink, that's a fucking legacy. No one should ever talk to me about women's pain and review such poignant and pot-stirring lyricism, y'all are not seeing Fiona ANYWHERE! Tori Amos niece 10/10 debut and this is not even her best album, talk about growth and talent. I LOVE YOUUU
Happy Pride everyone. That's a real fucking legacy to leave. No notes. Not a single skip.
Lovely tunes
R.I.P. to Sinead, such a wonderful record
Wesley's Theory is forever goated For Free was so funny and vibrant For Sale was def one of the top 5 for me How Much A Dollar Cost is one of the best piece's of poetry from a rapper in a long time Everytime I relisten to it on car trips, it gets better
LOVE AND ANGER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST IN HER CAREER OH MY GOSH whole album was fire no notes probably listened to more than her first 4 albums for me
Major slay
I'm not even exaggerating because it is white man music but this album is INSANE. It started with me just listening to Great Gig, then Money but the entire thing is seamless. Personally and what I am currently listening to right now is 'Us and Them'. I almost cry every single time especially the transition into Any Colour You Like, it might make the spotify wrapped this year. the seamless strokes of avant garde and psych rock. The songwriting is something that I am not used to yet still marveled by, if that even makes sense. I was shocked reading the genius lyrics and I would rewind it because I am amazed by Roger Waters
purrr
Title track carries
