The Smashing Pumpkins
3/5
Found myself tuning out of this album from time to time but some gems would immediately catch my attention, like “Disarm” and “Silverfuck.” Decent 3.5/5
Carole King
5/5
Fantastic album full of blue-eyed soul, magnetic piano riffs, and classics that have been covered and sampled by so many. Carole King is a legend and an incredible songwriter. 5/5
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
Love CCR already but only had their compilation. Solid album front to back, just wish it was longer!

I do not get it. I feel like I was listening to what the color black would sound like in an album, but not in a cool way. Wish I liked it more. 1/5
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Fell in love with YYYs in high school. This album is so nostalgic and absolutely holds up. 5/5

Really enjoyed this album. Killer harmonies and fantastic instrumentals. 4/5
The Go-Go's
5/5
Incredible album from start to finish! Their influence on other later awesome bands like Sleater-Kinney and Haim is palpable. Solid 5/5
Michael Kiwanuka
4/5
This album was such a smooth and warm trip. Kiwanuka’s voice beckons the 60s and 79s crooning largely lost in the modern area. Fantastic album. 4.5/5
Green Day
4/5
Super nostalgic. I remember hearing Holiday on a Tony Hawk game and falling completely in love. The album holds up pretty well and Billy Armstong’s voice remains one of the more distinct voices in music. 4/5
Talking Heads

Fiona Apple
4/5
I’ve heard Fiona Apple’s name so often, and she seems to be of the “your favorite artist’s favorite artist” variety. I found this album really intriguing and I want to look into her more. 4/5
Scritti Politti

Eh, better 80s bands out there. Not bad but ain’t love it. 3/5
The Pretty Things

The songs I liked, I loved, but most of them faded into the background for me. Enjoyable record for the most part. 3.5/5

RHCP has a special place in my heart because a guy introduced them to me in high school and it was my first real introduction to “rock” which lead me on a decade’s journey catching up on this massive genre as a southern Black girl. 4/5
