⭐️ first 1-star rating i've dished out for this album list. i didn't care for this at all instrumentals were fine, kinda unimpressive for my taste (though 90s hip hop is admittedly hit-or-miss for me). i really didn't like the artist's voice or his flow though. the majority of tracks also felt like they ran 2-3 minutes longer than they should've, probably because the guy repeats the title several times throughout to pad out the time this had political/societal messaging throughout, which i'm usually fine with. i've heard socially-conscious rap done well before. however, this lacks subtlety. the message is either made plainly obvious with no nuance or nonsensical political word vomit

already listen to this a number of times before going through this album list Pure - no rating Jigsaw Feeling - 5/5 Overground - 4/5 Carcass - 5/5 Helter Skelter - 4/5 Mirage - 5/5 Metal Postcard (Mittageissen) - 4/5 Nicotine Stain - 5/5 Suburban Relapse - 4/5 Switch - 4/5 Average score: 4.4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this doesn't top Juju for me, but it's a close second (though i'll have to hear the rest of their discography to confirm). since i can't give half-star ratings, i'll be generous and bump the score up a bit

i've only heard a couple tracks off of this Summer Babe - 5/5 Trigger Cut/Wounded-Kite At :17 - 4/5 No Life Singed Her - 3/5 In The Mouth A Desert - 5/5 Conduit For Sale! - 4/5 Zurich Is Stained - 5/5 Chelsey's Little Wrists - 1/5 Loretta's Scars - 4/5 Here - 5/5 Two States - 4/5 Perfume-V - 4/5 Fame Throwa - 4/5 Jackals, False Grails: The Lonesome Era - 4/5 Our Singer - 3/5 Average score: 3.9/5 (rounding up) just as i expected, classic lo-fi indie rock. i'll have to give Brighten the Corners a re-listen to see how they match up in quality, but i really enjoyed most of these tracks

used to own the cd when i was a kid. hopefully this album has aged well over the years. Bamboo Banga - 3/5 BirdFlu - 3/5 Boyz - 4/5 Jimmy - 4/5 Hussel - 3/5 Mango Pickle Down River - 4/5 20 Dollar - 5/5 World Town - 4/5 The Turn - 4/5 XR2 - 4/5 Paper Planes - 5/5 Come Around - 4/5 (-1 star because Timbaland's feature RUINS this track halfway through. "duuuuh you and me need to go to your tee-pee" fuck off) Average score: 3.9/5 (rounding up) doesn't hit as hard as it did when i was younger, but it's a fine album. the sound choices on some of the tracks are a bit hard on the ears at times (like that obnoxious chicken clucking on BirdFlu, for example) favs: 20 Dollar, Paper Planes, Mango Pickle Down River least favs: BirdFlu, Timbaland's portion of Come Around
