Country is a very hit-or-miss genre for me, but this was fairly standard for me. Had some hits, but some tracks sounded too same-y imho

Not a fan

I'd only ever heard Porcelain years ago,which was alright to me at the time, so I had high hopes for liking the rest of the album. I just didn't like it, I'm afraid. The majority of this is looped blues samples over near-identical and repetitive drums and keyboards. On the tracks that aren't samples, the vocals aren't great and the lyrics often sound very basic, almost sterile. I guess can see how some people could get into this sound when it first came out, but it definitely didn't age well imho. There's plenty of albums from the 90s or older that feel timeless in comparison. I'll give this a (very reluctant) 2/5.

I've listened to this album multiple times but I'll review anyway Favs: Pink Moon, Place To Be, Road, Parasite, From The Morning Least Favs: Horn, Know Bryer Later is still my fav of all his releases, but I still hold this near and dear to my heart. 4.5/5

i've already listened to this many over the years. they could've trimmed a few tracks, but this was still very enjoyable and the stronger track make up for the weaker ones and then some (especially D.A.N.C.E)

enjoyed: missing pieces, sixteen saltines, blunderbuss, hypocritical kiss, weep themselves to sleep, i'm shakin' overall i liked this! i don't think it quite holds up to his white stripes/raconteurs days but i enjoyed the first half of the album quite a bit. if they trimmed the last few songs off, this would've scored much higher in my book 3.5/5

i feel similarly to this as I did to albums like Play by Moby: it's very repetitive and the sound gets old fast. in fact, i think i enjoyed this less. i'm starting to see a pattern of obscure and subpar UK music from the 90s and early 2000s that no one's ever heard of being listed as music we should "listen to before we die." this is definitely one i wish i didn't waste time listening to, but i suppose i wouldn't know unless i gave it a spin? i'll stick to massive attack and portishead. 1.5/5

i didn't have high hopes for this one, and it seems my instincts were proven right this time. this one's a snoozer for sure. the instrumentals, while not terrible, put me to sleep. the vocals are not very good either imho. nearly incoherent, in fact. almost none of these tracks stuck out to me, most were pretty forgettable. Weighted Down (The Prison Song) was oddly nice in comparison to the first few tracks, and War In Peace was probably the best overall in this whole album (likely because this is where the album drifted away from folk and became more psychedelic) i would really like to talk to the maker of this list and ask them their reasoning for putting this on a list of must-hear albums, cuz i just don't get it. guess this just isn't for me

Jagger's vocals, many of the songs sounded like they were dicking around with *concepts* of a blues song (wtf was that 11-minute track?) and the misogynistic tones of Stupid Girl and Under My Thumb? ew. i'm cool off hearing the majority of this album ever again

Edith and the Kingpin stood out to me most out of all the songs but i don't really hate anything here as always, Joni don't miss!

heard this already maybe a month ago. i would go song by song to rate this but tbh nearly every song ranged between a 2/5 or a 3/5 it's not bad, but it's not great either. i think 3 stars is a generous enough rating

i've heard this album before but it's been a while Sympathy For The Devil - 4/5 No Expectations - 3/5 Dear Doctor - 3/5 Parachute Woman - 2/5 Jigsaw Puzzle - 3/5 Street Fighting Man - 4/5 Prodigal Son - 4/5 Stray Cat Blues - 4/5 Factory Blues - 3/5 Salt Of The Earth - 3/5 Average score: 3.3/5 this is a huge improvement from their Aftermath album, that's for sure. it sounds like they solidified their blues sound since that album. the production sounds a lot cleaner here too, which i feel compliments their performance a lot better overall. none of the tracks were terrible by any means, though Parachute Woman was probably my least favorite. everything else was alright to me, maybe even good i don't think i've been made a huge Rolling Stones fan after hearing this from start to finish, but this was a decent release and a step in the right direction for the group in my opinion
