Popular Reviews

I was surprised by how low-fi this was, shows why the Beatles were such an outlier for their time. The songs were great, the performances could use some love. I'm finally publicly admitting: I've never gotten the effusive love for Waterloo Sunset.

I liked some songs on here, there was occasionally nice melody in the guitar work... but eh? Really blended together by the end.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Nov 17 2025

I mean, it's Zeppelin 2. There's no standout track when it's wall to wall bangers. Though the riffs in Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker, and that goddamn bassline in Ramble On. It's damn near perfect.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Nov 18 2025

It's a classic, but I don't love it, it doesn't speak to me. I don't want to listen to Nico or Lou Reed. Has its moments, the dissonances in Venus In Furs. Heroin. Not going to turn it off, but not going to seek it out.

The Yes Album by Yes
Nov 19 2025

This album lives rent free in my head. Yes made "better" albums, but this is almost surely be the one I go back to the most. Holy shit, Starship Trooper? Go back and listen to that song again. Do it. Man, this album.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Nov 20 2025

This was fun, pure old Vegasy lounge show. Highlights: The original Jump, Jive 'n Wail, Night Train, I'll Be Glad When You're Dead You Rascal You.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Nov 21 2025

Feels good. Just feels good. From soulful, to funky, to bluesy. Just feels good. Highlight tracks: Let's Stay Together, La-La for You, It Ain't No Fun to Me.

1984 by Van Halen
Nov 24 2025

I'm sure for someone, many someones, these songs are classics. I mean, Jump, Panama, Hot For Teacher... all good songs. But Eddie was too talented for the songs he wanted to write. It's good.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Nov 25 2025

Oh man, this album's got so much character. The guitar work was so engaging, and Siouxsie's voice... such a contrast with the previous album, and boy it benefits. Highlights: Spellbound, Into the Light.

Disintegration by The Cure
Nov 27 2025

I was not in the mood for this album. I might revisit, but compared to Siouxsie in the same vein ol' Rob just seemed whiny today.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Nov 28 2025

This album sounded so big... but also so dark. Like it was leaden. There's a differently mixed, maybe arranged version of this album somewhere that I would probably find great.

Dec 01 2025

This was wierd... way wierd. Wierder than I expected. And I was here for it.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Dec 02 2025

You know, if I had listened to this album when I was in my teens, it'd be a 3 star album. The only knock is the lyrics are... teeny. But the songs are sick AF.

Dec 03 2025

I was surprised by how low-fi this was, shows why the Beatles were such an outlier for their time. The songs were great, the performances could use some love. I'm finally publicly admitting: I've never gotten the effusive love for Waterloo Sunset.

Dec 04 2025

If I review a rap album using the word bloviating, will they finally give me my "Whitest Man Ever" award? The beats in this album are incredibly sick. The rhymes are... fine? They go hard enough, they're just not interesting.

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Dec 05 2025

If this album was just the instrumentals, 3 stars. That title theme? Amazing. So good. Compositionally interesting all over the place, but too many of the songs overall were inconsistent to my likes.

Dec 09 2025

The greatest album from one of the greatest bands of all time. Shocker, it's an end-to-end stunner. Not perfect, but damn near close.

Dec 10 2025

I liked some songs on here, there was occasionally nice melody in the guitar work... but eh? Really blended together by the end.

Rapture by Anita Baker
Dec 11 2025

And that's why they call her the velour fog? The production sounds dated, but her voice sure doesn't! Really nice, sumptuous.

Low by David Bowie
Dec 12 2025

The second half of this album is tough, because it's great, but it's not... Another Green World, or something. But it was more influential than that, because Bowie did it. On the other hand, Another Green World didn't have a side of incredible Bowie ass Bowie songs. F me, Sound and Vision. The drums on this album. Love it.

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Dec 16 2025
Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Dec 17 2025

I love this era of the Stones. And between Wild Horses, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking... this album may be THE album? Love it.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
Dec 19 2025
Live! by Fela Kuti
Dec 23 2025

I hear you, Fela Kuti... hot damn, this is a percussionist's dream. Sounded like everyone was having fun. Loved it.

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Dec 24 2025

This album is pretty amazing. Great songs, great arrangements, great production. Just sounds good, top to bottom. Super solid work.
