Arcade fire - the suburbs. 5/10. Neil Young and Talking Heads influences are obvious among others. Some hints of Springsteen at times. I'm glad to have heard this album but it's not an instant favourite. Lyrics are a weak point in an album that is very of it's time in the Indie rock era.

8/10. Great album. Inspiration from the R&B soul groups that came before it and paves the way for all that comes after. Bridges the genres of R&B, disco and funk to produce an album filled with classics. Will definitely listen again.
5/10. This was fine. Clear Springsteen influences. It was fine.
3/10. I'm glad it's over. Parts we're kind of good but I suspect only because they've permeated music culture. I think the important things is that the band likes it. Good for them. Good for them. This was one of those albums that I had to resist the urge to skip songs, and check how much was left. This was a long 37 minutes.
This was the 2nd Smiths album in a row. Previous one was The Queen is Dead. This was easier to listen to. Maybe I just need to be in the right mood for them and that mood is tired and anxious. This one was more positive, musically. Hints of The Doors and even KC and the Sunshine band. I'll say this for them; presuming a lot of those songs to be satirical and tongue in cheek (which I'm not sure of) they do satirical lyrics very well. They don't, IMO, do political and cultural commentary well. Self indulgent at times and not as deep as others would make them out to be.
10/10. The voice is perfect. The composition is perfect. The arrangements are perfect. It's over 3 hours long and I will regret not a second of it.
7/10. A classic. Really enjoyed this. Forgot how good it is.
Excellent. Chaotic. Very enjoyable from start to finish.
Brilliant album only marred by some song lyrics feeling very uncomfortable, particularly with the hindsight of 20 years and a few documentaries.
I hesitated over whether this was a 4 or a 5 star album. Realistically it's about an 8.5-9/10. All time classic folk, with some occassional skips depending on mood but enough iconic songs to make it a 5 star.
Meh. It's fine.
