1001 Albums Summary

This was so fun! Devin loves the stone roses and I was surprised I hadn’t given it a proper listen. I think I confused it with queens of the Stone Age. Anyway, good shoot and a great way to start the project!

This is a great Christmas album but tbh I’m over Christmas by Christmas Day lol. Would have been nice a week ago 0:)

I don't hate this, which is weird because historically I have hated every Bowie song I've heard. Every time my husband was playing music on his phone and there was a track I just COULDN'T STAND, it ended up being Bowie. Anyway. This is a pretty good album with reduced theatrics. Confusingly, I immediately want to give it another listen.

I want to like Radiohead but for some reason the bass is just overwhelming and everything sounds 30% funkier than it needs to.

Rocks Off is a really fun opener- big fan of the trumpets. Despite not being the last track, Shine a Light was an impressive closer. Overall, there were moments of greatness but I wasn’t a huge fan.

At least it’s not more Bowie. Fun for a little something different, but something you HAVE to listen to before you die? Nah. 10 Ragas to a Disco Beat is way more interesting. Weird choice to put a movie soundtrack on here, anyway.

Improbably, I really like this. If some songs weren’t so overplayed it would be a revelation.

This album...was 2 1/2 hours long. I didn't hate it but man that's hard to review after one listen.

There was some cool postrock stuff going on, completely ruined when they started singing though. YYZ was surprisingly good.

I suffered through the first disk but I can't make myself listen to the second. It's not TERRIBLE just....terribly boring. The singer sounds a bit like Bob Dylan (derogatory).

I've always disliked Nick Drake, despite loving singer-songwriters in general. Maybe it was the unintelligible mumbling on Pink Moon. Maybe it was the Dave Matthews-style voice. In any case, I failed to find the genius. This album, however...was almost enjoyable. It could grow on me.

West of the Fields almost sounded like the Smiths so that was cool. The rest of the album….ehhh fairly boring as is often the case for “pioneering” bands and those that engineer a particular sound

Criminal is just that. Each word seems to have like 40 syllables when she sings. All the songs also kinda sound the same...I found it boring. I wanted to like this! I just couldn't find anything that grabbed me.

I’m sorry. I hate Queen. I know I’m wrong but I just cannot STAND them. It’s too theatrical and over-the-top in the same way hair metal is.

I have lost all faith in the list by this point. I’m starting to think the it’s a punishment and we’re misunderstanding the title. Only after listening to these 1001 albums may we be allowed the sweet kiss of death.

Huh. I happened to wake and bake in the morning before I listened to this, so maybe I was in the perfect headspace to appreciate this album. Kinda made me feel like I was in a Fast and Furious movie. Or a 90's programming montage. It was cool. I'd listen again.

I'm almost disappointed in how much I enjoyed this. And yet..I did.

this is like Bleach-era Nirvana, but completely unenjoyable.

This was unusual- I would spin again as background music. Very evocative of the time it was released.
