Popular Reviews

Tidal by Fiona Apple

Criminal is just that. Each word seems to have like 40 syllables when she sings. All the songs also kinda sound the same...I found it boring. I wanted to like this! I just couldn't find anything that grabbed me.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Dec 25 2025

This was so fun! Devin loves the stone roses and I was surprised I hadn’t given it a proper listen. I think I confused it with queens of the Stone Age. Anyway, good shoot and a great way to start the project!

Blackstar by David Bowie
Dec 27 2025

I don't hate this, which is weird because historically I have hated every Bowie song I've heard. Every time my husband was playing music on his phone and there was a track I just COULDN'T STAND, it ended up being Bowie. Anyway. This is a pretty good album with reduced theatrics. Confusingly, I immediately want to give it another listen.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Dec 27 2025

I want to like Radiohead but for some reason the bass is just overwhelming and everything sounds 30% funkier than it needs to.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Dec 29 2025

boring, sorry

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Dec 30 2025

I really do not like blues

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
Dec 31 2025

I hate this so much lol. Emo with no nostalgia for me, so I’m forced to confront what it actually is. Also funny how much I love post rock and hate prog rock.

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jan 01 2026

I hate hair metal so much omg. I did TRY to listen to this but I’m losing hope that this list is gonna be anything other than dad rock

Greetings From L.A. by Tim Buckley
Jan 02 2026

I suppose I enjoyed this more than Jeff Buckley but it’s fairly boring womanizing and wailing

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jan 03 2026

Rocks Off is a really fun opener- big fan of the trumpets. Despite not being the last track, Shine a Light was an impressive closer. Overall, there were moments of greatness but I wasn’t a huge fan.

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Jan 04 2026

At least it’s not more Bowie. Fun for a little something different, but something you HAVE to listen to before you die? Nah. 10 Ragas to a Disco Beat is way more interesting. Weird choice to put a movie soundtrack on here, anyway.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Jan 05 2026

Improbably, I really like this. If some songs weren’t so overplayed it would be a revelation.

Dare! by The Human League
Jan 08 2026

I forgot this album as I was listening to it.

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Jan 09 2026

This album...was 2 1/2 hours long. I didn't hate it but man that's hard to review after one listen.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Jan 10 2026

There was some cool postrock stuff going on, completely ruined when they started singing though. YYZ was surprisingly good.

Jan 11 2026

THIS is Chicago???? There were some really cool moments on this album. I’d listen again.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jan 12 2026

this is my fave Zappa album, I love this era of freak jazz

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jan 13 2026

This was surprisingly cool. Turns out the radio plays their worst songs, who knew!

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Jan 14 2026

I suffered through the first disk but I can't make myself listen to the second. It's not TERRIBLE just....terribly boring. The singer sounds a bit like Bob Dylan (derogatory).

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jan 15 2026

I've always disliked Nick Drake, despite loving singer-songwriters in general. Maybe it was the unintelligible mumbling on Pink Moon. Maybe it was the Dave Matthews-style voice. In any case, I failed to find the genius. This album, however...was almost enjoyable. It could grow on me.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 16 2026

This is so...of its era. Not a fan of any of it. Homie has PIPES though

The Score by Fugees
Jan 17 2026

Whoa. This is fun. Super 90's. This covered a lot of musical ground/genres.

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
Jan 18 2026

Devin loves this so it was super enjoyable for me.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jan 20 2026

I really don't like blues. I typically hate live albums. This was the worst of both worlds...couldn't finish it.

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 21 2026

deedledeeeeWAAAAAAAO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH baby mama Wyannnnowww. This was..not my jam.

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Jan 22 2026

This was truly wild. I don’t usually like synth-y 80’s stuff but this was fun, meandering, covered a lot of ground

Night Life by Ray Price
Jan 23 2026

hmmm I like old country but this is a lil too honky tonk for me.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Jan 27 2026

eh I don't really like R&B. This almost went some cool places but I just didn't get it.

Illmatic by Nas
Jan 29 2026

A little monotonous for me. Cool album but not really my style

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Jan 30 2026

Not my favorite Leonard cohen album but I like it

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Jan 31 2026

howeveh aega? woma ha ve ha ve hom ne to meeee. This is a fun classic album that I thought was in like French at first.

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Feb 01 2026

Unmemorable, sorry

OK by Talvin Singh
Feb 02 2026

This is the kind of stuff I love to see on this list- something I never would have discovered on my own!

Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 03 2026

this freakin rules

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Feb 05 2026

Not my favorite Beach Boys album, I guess they left their best work on the 16 records prior to this one

Murmur by R.E.M.
Feb 06 2026

West of the Fields almost sounded like the Smiths so that was cool. The rest of the album….ehhh fairly boring as is often the case for “pioneering” bands and those that engineer a particular sound

Closer by Joy Division
Feb 11 2026

Nice

A Seat at the Table by Solange
Feb 13 2026

This sounds like Christina Aguilera on benzodiazepines. This is the most boring and restrained shit I have heard in my life.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Feb 14 2026

A perfect album.

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Feb 18 2026

What was this actually

#1 Record by Big Star
Feb 19 2026

Sometimes this tends towards the overly theatrical 80’s vocals but in general I like it, I was really only familiar with them through Elliott Smith’s covers

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Feb 20 2026

Morrissey

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Feb 21 2026
Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Feb 22 2026

Dude every song sounds the same. I’m sure this is good? I just don’t get it

Teenage Head by Flamin' Groovies
Feb 23 2026

Teenage Head? I feel like these guys should be on a different list if you know what I mean. This is the first album I couldn’t finish.

Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré
Feb 25 2026

Good album, I used to love it but it’s just alright these days

1977 by Ash
Feb 26 2026

Ok surprising w? This is from 77?????

Street Life by The Crusaders
Feb 27 2026

ok i like this but in a muzak way and not an active listening way?

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Mar 02 2026

This is some trite shit

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Mar 04 2026

Criminal is just that. Each word seems to have like 40 syllables when she sings. All the songs also kinda sound the same...I found it boring. I wanted to like this! I just couldn't find anything that grabbed me.

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Mar 06 2026

More Brit pop from the 80’s, yay

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Mar 07 2026

I love Steely Dan but this isn’t my fave of theirs. Still more solid than 90% of this list

Mar 08 2026

I’m sorry. I hate Queen. I know I’m wrong but I just cannot STAND them. It’s too theatrical and over-the-top in the same way hair metal is.

I See You by The xx
Mar 09 2026

I have lost all faith in the list by this point. I’m starting to think the it’s a punishment and we’re misunderstanding the title. Only after listening to these 1001 albums may we be allowed the sweet kiss of death.

Mar 11 2026

Huh. I happened to wake and bake in the morning before I listened to this, so maybe I was in the perfect headspace to appreciate this album. Kinda made me feel like I was in a Fast and Furious movie. Or a 90's programming montage. It was cool. I'd listen again.

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Mar 18 2026

this is like Bleach-era Nirvana, but completely unenjoyable.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Mar 21 2026
Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Mar 26 2026

oh no I really enjoyed this :/

Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Mar 29 2026

Vibes. This was fun

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Mar 31 2026

The organ in this was kind of fun, but overall it was pretty generic stuff. Maybe more groundbreaking in 1970

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Apr 01 2026

Vibey. Good background music

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Apr 03 2026

This sounds like a band lab-grown to soundtrack a rodeo parking lot. Even in the most ideal setting: a multi-day bender, drunk in a dive bar, hearing them live…I’d still fucking hate it.

Kenya by Machito
Apr 06 2026
Dirt by Alice In Chains
Apr 07 2026
Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Apr 14 2026

Didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would, this went some cool places

My Generation by The Who
Apr 15 2026

I had some preconceived notions about the Who and you know what? they're not as bad as I thought they were. turns out you really can go places on ketamine.

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Apr 22 2026

this is so boring...it's like a slow motion car chase in the mall parking lot.
