DeerhunterHelicopter was the best song. I probably could of read a haiku about baked beans though and that would of been the best song so it’s not saying much. Oh little baked bean How you taunt me on the plate My fork can’t stab you
Helicopter was the best song. I probably could of read a haiku about baked beans though and that would of been the best song so it’s not saying much. Oh little baked bean How you taunt me on the plate My fork can’t stab you
This album was right up my melancholy street. If I didn’t know the story behind the album I still would have rated it high but it definitely adds something more knowing about his son. Everyone deals with grief in their own way and Nick Cave dealt with it by dropping this beauty
Nice voice but album bored me. I hate 'Save the Children'. I don't hate children and if a child needs saving then yeah, let's save them but this song half makes me think we should just leave the children if it's going to produce more songs like this
So on films or cartoons whatever, when a character is sitting there and that weird effect comes on the screen as there about to daydream and it goes a bit warped with a strange sound as the transition takes place, that’s this whole album. I felt like I was on my way to daydream but never fucking get there. I dunno man. I couldn’t tell you if this album was 40 minutes long or if I am going to look in the mirror and I am 62 years old.
Brilliant album. The transition from old Arctic Monkeys to new started here. Solid 4 for me. Probably suffers from my thought process that this album isn’t as good as a 5 star Monkeys album but yet I would say it’s on par with other albums I may of given 5 as I’m so far up Alex Turners arse, you can only see my toes peeking out.
Favourite Song - Staralfur One for karaoke - None because I have no idea what they’re saying One for a run - Olsen Olsen An album I never thought you be able to run to but here I am with proper sore legs and it was great
Favourite song - Heart of Sunrise One for Karaoke- Roundabout One for a run - Roundabout Some funky baselines but only really remember the first and last song. Needs a repeat listen.
Best song - Bad Company One for karaoke - Bad Company One for a run - Rocksteady Alright. Moving On got me good because I could only think of Vic and Bob covering it.
Best song - Cemetery Gates One for karaoke - Frankly, Mr Shankly One for a run - Vicar in a tutu Forget the songs for a sec, this was the album generated the day after the queen died. Are we not living in the matrix? Not only is this a sign but we also got the album ‘Fragile’ the day Napoli smashed us 4-1. I’m half scared for the next album name
Best song - Let’s stay Together One for karaoke - Private Dancer One for a run - Steel Claw 80s banger. Exactly what I expected. Let’s Stay Together will be a weekly regular
Favourite Song - In The Ghetto One for Karaoke - Any Day Now One for a run - I’m Movin’ On In the Ghetto and Any Day Now are fucking 10’s God Save The King The only think that matters is Mr Pressssley
Favourite Song - We Will Not be Lovers/The Stolen Child One for Karaoke- Fisherman’s Blues One for a run - We Will Not be Lovers
Favourite Song - The Heathen One for Karaoke - Jammin One for a run - Three Little Birds Just not my cup of tea. I don’t have a spliff in my hand, I’m not arsed about Jesus and one love is like fetch…it’s never going to happen. I’m too much of a misery to appreciate this album I think. Someone tried to kill Bob Marley just before this album and he’s still singing about One Love and that. I can’t deny Jammin and Three Little Birds but as I type this I don’t remember any other song. ✌️
This album was not for me. As I listened to it no as I type, I feel like I’m going to drop into a coma. It’s just one full song. I can honestly feel my eyes getting heavy, I think I am going to ksksskxjxnjxnxnxnzjzmzmkxkxkxjxnxjxjj n n n nxbxjskakzkzkkxkzkxhcnxjxnxnzjzjjzjxjx
Favourite Song - I’m in the Mood One for karaoke - I’m in the Mood One for a run - The Healer Started off okay this one and then gradually got tiresome. I was in the mood after the first few songs to pull down my undies and shake my nob around as if I was in a sexy underground dark bar kind of place that had a blues band in the corner playing. This on the surface may well seem like a nice thought but the second half correlated more with the reality that if you did whip out your nob in any bar for that matter, you’ll be promptly asked to leave and have to roam around town looking for somewhere else still open to go. So this album for me started like a willy shaking blues album but ended up feeling like I was alone in the rain trying to get into a bar in Matthew St only to realise it was 6am and doors were closed.
I’m not doing the usual format for this due to the genre of album which will take multiple listens to take it all in. I thought it was sick. I felt like I was on my way to Cluckin Bell with Ryder. I will deffo be listening to this again and again. I got half way through and felt like I was in Big Smokes Green Saber and we were eyeing up bitches in 240p
Favourite Song - Turn One for Karaoke - Turn One for a run - the last 3 minutes of Slide Show I was close to giving it a 3 due to the big hits still sounding decent. Turn is great but the songs around the hits sound like he wants to be Thom Yorke and there’s only one Thom Yorke babaayyyyy
Favourite Song - You and your folks.m, me and my folks One for karaoke - Maggot Brain (just done some mad interpret dancing) One for a run - Super Stupid Great start to the album and some funky a fuck songs. For some I just wanted even more funk. Why hold back the funk? Just go funk to the wall I saw.
Listened to it on Friday. Can’t remember the songs really so I’m not doing the format. No Respect
Back in the day I was a dastardly street magician. I would take advantage of drunken idiots for a small fee and perform ‘magic’. This one time I got caught by a fella who happened to see my trick deck and noticed every card was the Ace of Spades, I was mortified. “The gig is over mate, you’re done for unless….” He started to unzip his pants and said “I’ll let it slide if you Love me Like a Reptile”. I said to him “turn around then”. He obliged and as he turned around I pulled out my trusty revolver (this isn’t a metaphor) and I said “I’m going to Shoot you in the Back”. Bang. He was on the floor bleeding out and I said to him “we are very different people you and I. I don’t do this for sport, I Live to Win”. At this point I walked away, leaving him to enjoy his final few minutes face down in the dark street. I was in such a high and went into the night looking for a woman, someone who is Fast and Loose. It was as if someone could hear my thoughts because these hot chicks pulled up out of nowhere smelling of cigarettes and leather. “We are the Roadcrew”, this one firecracker stated. She walked up to me I noticed my piece. At this point it could of been a metaphor as I was ready. She took my gun and the other chick, hair looking like a premium firework silhouetted in front of the moonlight. “Fire Fire” she yelled whilst shooting my gun into the air. In a daze, I didn’t take into consideration what attention this brought to the alley we were in which was now lit up by red and blue lights. As ominous the arrival was of these chicks, their departure was as if they were all smoke and mirrors. I was done for. As the metal clasped my cold sweaty wrists, one cop said “you’ll be jailbait in a few hours you little punk”. I was thrown into a cell. Alone with my thoughts still not really understanding where it all went wrong. Why was I so comfortable in shooting that man? Is this something I have done before? Why can’t I remember anything before that incident? A big brute came pacing outside my cell, caressing the bars with his fingers “You have no idea what you’ve done do you? We’ve been looking for you for months and at the sight of a bit of pussy, you let your guard down. You’re fucked now, that was your last dance”. I had no answer. I guess this is is, I have to bite the bullet. Considering they have been searching for me for months and now I am within 6 feet of every cop in this town, they sure do not seem too happy. Maybe the Chase is better than the catch after all. With this in mind I thought I would oblige. Why does this have to be over? We can continue this game can’t we? I could see that this 300lb fucker had all the tools on him to take down a small army. I could see the seam of his pants partially covering a gun in is boot. He had two guns on each side of his hip and what looked like a blade in his back pocket. I walked over to the cell and he seemed to appear smaller the closer I walked to him. He looked scared which made me start to question what kind of things I had been doing outside? This guy who was safe on the other side of the cell started to tremble. He was so scared he couldn’t even look me in the eye. His head looking down at my hand he has now realised that is his terrified state I have taken one of his guns and he knows that he’s the one fucked. We are both fucked but at least I will be the one who sees this guy get fucked. I pull back the hammer “In a bit dickhead” Not really my cup of tea that album.
Favourite Song - Angels of Deception One for Karaoke - Out of the Blue One for a run - Infected All the songs had good bits but there wasn’t enough to give it a 4. Sometimes he sounded like Pete Burns and that’s when it was the best. I will say that my foot was tapping along a fair bit. Probably a 3.5 for me. That ‘Jesus wept’ part kicked off and it’s stuck in my head
I was looking forward to a little country number and whilst I enjoyed the first 10-15 mins a bit, I got bored and felt it went on too long. Cba
Favourite Song - Had a Dad One for karaoke - Ted, Just Admit It (I’d shout she’d is violence for 10 mins straight) One for a run - Standing in the Shower Boss guitar as expected but I just don’t like that type of singing unless it’s Axl Rose
Again this album suffers from it being on Friday. I was let down by it and expected to love this one. Favourite song was Karmacoma
It’s happened. It’s a big day. This album is one I have listened to so many times but I still wanted to make sure it warranted 5 stars. I listened to it 3 times yesterday, one of them basically reading the lyrics on Spotify and I am comfortable in saying that this album is a certified banger. Favourite song - Barely Legal One for karaoke - Someday One for a run - Last Nite What a debut album. I don’t think Mojo would be the same bar without some of these songs.
I thought this album was good. All songs are decent but it’s missing a good ol’ Cemetery Gates baby
Favourite Song - Dandy One for Karaoke - Summer Time One for a run - Party Line Little fun number this one. Head bopping fun
Favourite song - Grandbags Funeral One for Karaoke - Step On One for a run - Kinky Afro Only ever heard the hits and didn’t expect it to be this good. Will deffo dive in again Bez style
Favourite Song - Slide One for karaoke - Nothing out there for me One for a run - Work It Sound that. Jenna was excited for me as a lover of older hip hop and it was justified
What an album this is. Magnum Opus. Favourite song - Takeover and Song Cry One for a run - Izzo One for Karaoke - Girls, Girls, Girls
Fuck this album. Should of left it in the fire and jibbed it right off. Not on Spotify so I had to go and find each song on YouTube and it it disconnected me from fifa. Today can fuck off. Can’t wait to hear Morrissey tomorrow because it will cheer me up.
This gets 5 due to the bangers. The run of songs consisting of Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean and Human Nature has to be the strongest run of songs possibly ever. Whilst I don’t like this album as much as the other 5s I have given, the longevity and absolute bangers in here outweigh songs like The Lady In my Life and The Girl is Mine. Favourite song - Billie Jean (makes me feel like a kid playing Vice City) One for karaoke - Beat It One for a run - Beat It
Lovely little rockabilly/blues one this. I have rated this more on the fact it’s Elvis and not so much the album itself so the standard is different for me. I was close to a 4 but 3 it is. One of my favourite Elvis songs is on here though ‘The Girl of my Best Friend’ ‘Fever’ has to be the karaoke one.
Helicopter was the best song. I probably could of read a haiku about baked beans though and that would of been the best song so it’s not saying much. Oh little baked bean How you taunt me on the plate My fork can’t stab you
Sorry lads but I liked this album. I’ve not really heard anything like it before. I listened to it twice because on first listen nothing really clicked but I found it interesting enough for another go. I enjoyed it.
Meh
I need to stop reading the wiki because I’ve gone in expecting the world seeing NME give this a 10/10. I enjoyed the album like but feel I need to listen to it with headphones. My rating could easily be higher but I’m not listening to it again because Arctic Monkeys just released ‘The Car’ so I don’t have the fucking time
Funky time this. I like that the intro proper sounded like the 60s Adam West Batman. I also back how he just announced the upcoming set list. Just a good time seeing that live. I’m just going to do my favourite as every song could be used for a run or karaoke. My favourite song was Try Me
Some alright songs here. Again I think listening through speakers and not headphones has impacted the score as Iggy sounded a bit like Vic Reeves on Shooting Stars especially in ‘Dirt’. I will deffo check out more albums by The Stooges
I liked the first song. I remember theres a line about moles in holes. Thought it was alright at best.
I thought it’s was a little all over the place but I did really like the music. It was something different like. Peter Gabriel was chatting all sorts that I didn’t really take notice of but yeah, Iittle organ here an lad there and some weird synth
This is the first album we have had so far that had the biggest impact on me. This album took over my school, it was the talk at footy and all my mates. My poor mum must of felt sick walking past my room one day and hearing ‘Kim’. Eminem just came out of nowhere for me. I looked at the charts and in 2000 the top 5 albums in the UK were Robbie Williams, a greatest hits for The Beatles, Westlife and Moby. Just full of pop and here comes this fella who’s performing in jumpsuits and hockey masks, rapping about killing the mother of his kid and telling kids to do drugs and rape sluts. I genuinely believed that Eminem was really a nut job when I was 10 years old and he almost had some boogeyman persona. I love this album and always go back every so often and now realise just how funny it is.
Solid album with all good songs. There’s just not that one heavy hitter on my opinion. It’s not that it’s a safe album or anything, some lovely blues rock shit is going down and whilst I love Everlasting Light, I just want that one banger that gets me all pumped up
My least favourite Radiohead album we will have on this list. For me it starts to get good too late. I think from ‘I Might Be Wrong’ its sound but that is track 5. I do love Radiohead though and this is one of those times I am comparing it to what they can do rather than this list.
Not for me. Probably the quickest I forgot an album. Usually if I do this I will try again but nah
Excellent album from a top class gang of gimps
Sex Pistols from Wish.Com
Enjoyed this album. Big fan of the half halloweeny Moribund The Burgermeister.
Boss album. Felt like going out to warehouse or something. The best act I saw when I last went to Glasto. Ah Glasto…you cruel mistress
Not something I would put on but I did like her voice. Found it half spooky and half ‘tiptoe through the tulips’
Too long and some songs just faded into the background but there were a few standouts. Just scraped a 3
My favourite Arcade Fire album which is a big deal considering their discography. Fantastic
This album was proper boss. Funky, Rocky, Sexy music. Stand! Don’t call me nigger, Whitey Sing a simple song You can make it if you try Bangers
Some of the standout RHCP songs on this album. The first half is so much stronger though and ranks as my 3rd favourite RHCP album of all time
B -5 Poos more like. Not for me. I kept thinking of that Family Guy episode when Rock Lobster came on which was the highlight.
Probably 2.5. It was nice listening to to be honest whilst doing some work. No song has stuck with me but I wouldn’t be opposed to going into a few others in their discography
Enjoyed this album. I will be diving into some more Tom Waits going forward. I don’t know what it is and I don’t know much about him but I like him
This album was my first Led Zepplin album and I am very upset I have gone 32 years without getting on them. This album was a belter.
This album was my first Dire Straits album. On any other day this is a strong 4 but after going back to back with Led Zeppelin, it’s is just about a 4 in comparison. I can’t give it a 3. Maybe I should? I’m not typing out a new comment, I’ve written too much. I think I will give it a 3? Shall I? Surely if I like Led Zepplins more than this should be a 3? What are we saying? Dunno what to have for tea later me. So many questions going through my head. I think I will say 3.5 but select 3. Yeah that’s fine.
Started off strong but didn’t maintain that peak.
I’ve only really listened to singles from Gorillaz and Plastic Beach which is another boss album. I proper enjoyed this one. Even Clint Eastwood which is a song I’ve not heard for years was just so much better when listening intentionally and not just in the radio. Damon Albarn is fucking boss
I have no idea if it’s good. I am clueless in this genre but I will say I did go for a walk for this one and my brain did picture all different scenes. Mainly cops hanging out with dames but yeah it was vivid throughout.
I thought this was a good album. Some absolute classics in there as well. I will deffo listen to this again. Great small house gathering-food-drink-laughter music
Some absolute shite on this album. Golden Hair was one of the ponyest
What Ben said
My first Stones album at 32 years of age. It was as expected quality wise because I really enjoyed it but the whole sound of the album was totally out of the blue. I funny what it is but I wasn’t expecting almost country elements. It’s was sound that. Salt of the Earth was great
Brilliant album.
Not for me. Just a strange one. Listening to it made me feel like o was wearing skinny jeans after a meal and I am just in the train home looking forward to getting in and taking them off. That’s what this hour felt like to me and after the hour I threw a Christmas playlist on which in this scenario would be stretchy pyjama pants
An album I’ve never heard yet was very nostalgic. Frozen almost pushed it to 3 stars alone but that wouldn’t be fair. Belter song that thought.
I really enjoyed this album. The opening song was a belter and the title track was listened to repeatedly after the first listen. I will deffo be returning to this album over and over.
I feel the exact same as Ben. Christmas and one listen has maybe made this a little harsh. Fantastic bookend songs again from this album
Just sounded like big song and whilst I enjoy the full on 80s vibe, his voice started to grate on me after a few songs. Rio and Hold Back the Rain earn a star each
I enjoyed this album. Will deffo have another bash and find more from these.
Another nice album this. Sound length and some proper classics on here. Solid 3 for me. Possibly a bit biased because Green River reminds me of GTA San Andreas driving round with the Truth
This album was right up my melancholy street. If I didn’t know the story behind the album I still would have rated it high but it definitely adds something more knowing about his son. Everyone deals with grief in their own way and Nick Cave dealt with it by dropping this beauty
One of the best albums of all time. There’s not even the one average song here, all just top tier. 3 fellas making this sound la, it’s so fucking good. ‘Lounge Act’ and having sex is the best thing you can do in 2 minutes.
Decent. I like the organ type sound throughout. Didn’t realises Peaches was on here which is always going down well. Opening song is sound too
Nice easy listen. I proper enjoyed some songs, especially ‘Won’t you Give Him One More Chance’
Just not for me. Would I like to sit on a dim room with a few in an audience and watch this live? Most definitely but the effect just doesn’t work the same for this type of music whilst wearing headphones in my pyjamas I can’t give it one star because I appreciate the sounds and I do picture a scene when I listen to it so that counts for something
Not for me. Really not well placed after listening back to back catching up. Just went on forever
Whilst I am catching up and cannot crying myself to listen to this album outside the festive period, most of the album is full of classics that are quality Christmas songs. I have listened to 80% of these songs during December.
This album is my favourite by Bowie and the fact that the worst of Bowie is better than most, shows how good it is. It’s as close to perfect as possible. I kick myself at how late I truly got onto Bowie but I am making up for it weekly
Boss album. I dunno how I’ve never heard this before because I am a fringe Pixies fan. Anyway I really like it and some songs on here will be getting hammered.
It’s was a feel good album from the sounds and beats. That 90s sound in this genre is always a hit. Not an album I would go back to but that’s just my personal preference rather than a flaw with the album
A very good album. I never listened to Amy Winehouse at all until after she passed away. I heard Back to Black which I thought was boss and this is the first time I have listened to Frank. There really wasn’t anyone like her at the time at all and I do get the hype. Her voice is boss. Strong 3 for me and I would listen again. Some stand out songs on here for sure
Good album and gives me massive nostalgia to GTA SA days. I listened to this before I heard 2001 back in the day and I enjoyed it. Not much to say really. Few stand out tracks but I would say it’s a fair bit behind 2001 for me. Strong 3
Smack bang in the middle for me. Not all on board with the Doors to be fair. Some songs I know like Riders etc. meh
Not for me. I did try
Bowie is the man He’s a fucking alien I bloody love him Haiku for the Starman
This is a brilliant album. I am late to the Beatles appreciation train but now I am on board with a sexy 1st class ticket baby. This is as good as it gets for me. Just a belter full of belters.
Did not feel 90 minutes which is a huge compliment. This album is fucking bonkers in the best way. It has rock and roll, jazz, 1920 showgirl tunes, lullabies, hollywood film scores all whilst being Beatles tunes. What a band. I cannot imagine what people thought each time they released something new. Must of been so exciting.
Feel harsh as I listened to two Beatles albums back to back before this. What it do though is solidify my score for the previous two. I always thought this was a decent album so I will give it a 3 here but its miles and miles behind what I have heard today. It also didn't help that Spotify chose to play 'Drugs Don't Work' by the Verve straight after which is a better song than anything on this album
I really enjoyed this album. This is the best thing about this album club, I would of gone my whole life without hearing this. It's dark and half grunge. It's boss. Big fan of Good Morning, Captain. Will go back to this again.
Not for me. I wanted a song like Cuban Pete from the mask but nothing of the sort.
I enjoyed this album a lot. I liked the grungey-ness of it but it never went too far which suited it. At times he sounded a bit like Kurt but knew his limits I reckon. Would deffo listen again. Strong 3
Good album. Don't think i stopped tapping a toe or bopping my head here. Could see myself watchin' out for gators from my porch listening to this in the sticky heat
Great album I think. Really strong 4 this one. Been a good few years since I listened. Whilst the obvious stand out for me will always be Hallelujah, I think the back to back songs of ‘Corpus Christi Carol’ followed by ‘Eternal Life’ is great. His voice is damn perfect.
Not really for me. Didn't like the opener at all but there were a few songs that musically I liked but the drowning out the the vocals didn't work for me. I did like 'No More Sorry' though. Standout song I thought
90's corny with some okay moments. Took a bit of a turn when 'If I can Change Your Mind' came on. Felt like the intro to a Friends spin off.
First ever Queen album I have ever listened to. It was exactly what I expected. Their sound is so unique that within the first 3 seconds of the album you know who it is. I enjoyed it to be fair and they really are so unique. I am just not into that big feel operatic rock/stadium sound I don't think. Worthy of a 3 though
Solid 3 for me. Not one bad song but I did some out from time to time. I was waiting for one out there track that didn’t come. There are little teases when the likes of Candyman when the organ kicks in a bit like That’s Life. I also enjoyed Friend of the Devil.
This was brilliant from start to finish. The biggest downside was listening to one of the most famous Christmas songs in March. I honestly enjoyed every song but 'Thousands are Sailing' was a stand out. The opening song just gets the juices flowing. I nearly ran to Pogue Mahones Bar in town to order a Guinness. I will gladly return to this album many times
I Know What I Know is a tune. All great songs to throw on at a Christening do, a wake, a birthday, after a great sporting event, at a disco and in youtube animal compilations. Great album
Decent start. Opening song I have saved for future listens. I really didn't know whether to put this as a 2 or 3 so I am going for a strong 2. It sounded unique at first but did sort of blend into one in the final 3rd. Still good though
Solid album. Good voice and carried by the proper sound releases. 'Please Forgive Me' is a cracker and 'This Years Love' is a song I dont think he can top. Just a lovely song with the simple piano, the hook, the bridge and the slow strings in the background. That song alone brings it up a star
First Stooges album I have heard. I have never liked 'I Wanna Be your Dog' and I don't know why. I prefer Iggy's voice as he got older to be honest. It's more unique and raw. Anyways, onto the next.
Her voice is a joke. It's so good but I don't think there's anything special about this album. Whilst the songs are decent enough, there's no major standout other than Someone Like You which is a banger. 'Rumour Has it' is a song I have always disliked, I just hate the chorus. As I say, it's all thanks to her voice. If I could sing like that I reckon I could knock an album out of similar quality.
Never heard of these which is baffling. I feel like if I heard this album on release it would have rated higher but now I feel I’ve heard this album so many times. Extra point for being scouse. Decent. Bonus points for having a song about Kenny.
Good album. If Bowie was a big fan then she must have a few crackers although I think he didn't really rate Paul McCartney. This interests me more than Adele's for example. Head bopping good time.
Not my cup of tea. Nothing bad on here but yeah, not for me. I could picture these songs playing in rolling credits for films like 'Big', 'Mrs Doubtfire' and 'Dr Dolittle'
Felt like I was on Waynes World in parts mixed with Guardians of the Galaxy. Good time this one. Nothing too deep, just sweet 70s rock
All the hits are here but the bits in between do not stand out like they did with Thriller. I have never heard this album all the way through and after Thriller getting a 5/5, I was expecting more here. Some artist will be judged a little harsher for me because of their standards so I was close to giving this a 3. The hits are just too god though so a 4 is fair
I know my mate Nick loved this album giving it a 4, not for me though. First song was boss as well but the rest just didn't wet my whistle
I enjoyed this album. 'Stranger Song', 'Master Song' and 'One of Us Cannot be Wrong' were quality. I also like how he looks a little like a young Dustin Hoffman on the album cover.
I enjoyed this one. Every song was sound I’d say. ‘Vienna’ and ‘Always a Woman’ are my stand outs. Strong 3
Bored me senseless. I completely forgot I had music on in parts
I heard this album about 15 years ago with no real experience with the man in black and I absolutely loved it on my first listen and has since taken a regular spot in my library. It remains as amongst the top echelon of my favourite live albums. The stories of how came about and him befriending one of the inmates all just adds to the feel of the album. Also I would like to make it known that no....it was not Crister Ronald who invented Suey! It was in fact Mr Cash. Go to the opening track 'Folsom Prison Blues' and skip to 1:12 and you'll see my point proved. Messi & Cash > Cristen Rolando
I thought there were a few bangers on here but it needs trimming down. 68 mins is just a few too many songs for me.
I enjoyed it and it was better than I thought it would be. I always see Courtney Love as someone who needs heroin to perk up so this was a surprise hearing her full of beans and that. 'Northern Star' was the standout
Love a bit of piano. I am such a laymen though and whilst appreciate this music, songs that las longer than an episode of the Office is tough with just headphones. I feel I would enjoy this more to some imagery.
Good time. Few pints at this gig and it would go off. Very Vic Reeves in Shooting Stars though I must say. Good times all round.
Not heard this album but already loved the classics that are 'Our House' & 'Teach Your Children'. Big fan and one I have saved. Great album.
I enjoyed this one. It's pretty fitting as I just started reading 'The Sisters Brothers' and I could see this album having a place within the book. Solid. A saw a review say it is 'infectious' and I'd agree
FAF Funky As Fuck Still thought it lacked that wow track. I get it, your flavour is funk but it doesn't hurt to add a flake or some sweet toppings to shake it up baby.
Old school hip hop. It's an era of hip hop I need to dive further into because it's pretty basic but I did enjoy this album. Head bopped through out
I really like this album. 'For Tomorrow', 'Chemical world' going into 'Sunday Sunday' are top tier. Loads of unique moments too
'One' alone warrants 3 stars. One of the greatest metal songs ever. Great face melting sols and Lars beating the shit out of the drums. Easy 4 stars. 'Shortest Straw' solo is fantastic.
Felt like I had just cut off the head of a Necker on my way to Velen but occasionally stopped off to suck on a Succubus’ tit. It produced some imagery of Witcher 3 and also What We Do in the Shadows. 1 star for each
It was alright. for the time I think the sound is unique but nothing really special. No song I thought about going back to and whilst the premise of 'Frankie Teardrop' is heavy, the song doesn't match the them well enough. Too tame. I wanted to be like 'Oh heavy that' like a 40kg dumbbell but it was more like 15kg
Dolly Parton is a Saint. She just seems like the est of good eggs. I enjoyed this album and when I learn all the lyrics I can see my belting this around the house.
A rare 5 star on first listen. What an album. A funky space album was always going to tickle my pickle but every song was fantastic. Sometimes we look for deeper meaning in songs/albums and sometimes we want funky songs about UFO's.
If it wasn't for this 1001 album club I would never of listened to Beyonce's sister but Solange, you stand alone my mate. Well played. Boss album. Is it missing a get up and fucking have it Beyonce type song? Maybe but it's not needed. You do you amirite? I can't give it a 5 however, because I still have to compare and it is not as good as Beyonce's best albums. Solid 4
Decent but on a first listen there's so much filler. I can see it getting better on repeat listens but for now its a strong 3
I can't rate it fairly. I have no idea if it's good or not due to being a complete laymen in this genre. It's not for me but at no fault of the album
READY TO KNOCK SOMEONES HEAD OFF AND RUN 10K BABY!!
I really liked this album a lot. Saved it for the future. Don't think there's a bad moment in the whole 35 minutes. The strings I loved, the strong start and the cover on Windmills of you Mind was great
Thought this album had a really strong start an whilst there's no songs I dislike, it doesn't maintain the initial highs. The opener is a banger and I proper like 'Tourniquet' and I have massive nostalgia for 'The Beautiful People' from watching WWF Raw back in the day. HolyWood remains my favourite Manson album
For the time of release it must of sounded so interesting but for me, as nice sounding as some tracks were (Part 5 was lovely), there's nothing that really stuck with me. Whilst Part 4 was included in GTA4 that still isn't enough to get me going.
Decent enough and better for me than others I have commented on that were not for me. So rather than the usual 1 I will give it 2 but that is it. Leave me alone
Still think 'Intro' is one of the best songs to hit my ears. Gives me weird belly which is a compliment. 'Basic Space' is a favourite of mine also. There's nothing that makes me feel as good as the very first song though which does mean even after the times I have heard the album I still wait to get that feeling again but it doesn't come. One of the easiest 4's I will give
Enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. That glam rock genre is usually something I just don't enjoy. Something about the vocals in this genre very rarely sits well with me but this was sound. Saved a few songs and I especially enjoyed the opener. Nice surprise with the only let down being that it was a few songs too long. Strong 3
Thought there were very few moments I peeked up. When the initial vocals come in I thought it sounded decent but this won’t be anything I come back to. Really surprised that they’re not American though because it really sounded overall like they were
One of my all time favourite albums. Look at some of the biggest albums in ‘91 and there’s nothing really like it and it’s a dramatic shift from Joshua Tree. Pretty much ever song is great.
Nice way to start a Friday. Few classics in here and it’s all feel good
Snappy and catchy. 19-20 year old Elvis just belting out hip jiving good fun. Loses a point for Blue Moon. Fuck Man City
Paint it Black - Could hear this everyday and it would never bore me. Classic and also my favourite Guitar Hero song to play back in the day. Stupid Girl - Organs to kick it off, great. Organs should be in all songs in some capacity. Weird fairground vibes with what should be an annoying chorus but it works. Lady Jane - nice change of pace. Is it about women or drugs? Under My Thumb - Another cracker. Is there a Xylophone? Sounds well. Doncha Bother Me - Now we are in the world of slide guitaring blues. Boss song. A nice treat with earphones. Think - Decent melody but the weakest song up to now which is a compliment to the tracks up to now. Flight 505 - This song makes me realise that I should just stay in on the weekend playing on the PS5 with a cuppa. No need to rash decisions to fly off somewhere because there's a good chance I'll end up fucking dead. High and Dry - More bluesy again. Harmonica making a nice appearance. A good ol' knee slapper. It's Not Easy - Okay song. One of the weakest I think on the album. I like to think the girl is a metaphor for Everton and supporting them is not easy. I Am Waiting - Folky number. Dunno what it's about but it picks up at the 2:00 mark and gets me good. Boss song Going Home - Ending on another bluesy sounding song. It was alright but one of the weakest. It did feel like a fitting end track however.
Ali love this album. Nothing else really sounds like the first two tracks. ‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ is one of, if not my favourite song by Radiohead. I also love ‘Videotape’, that song gets me good.
I walked to Sainsbury’s listening to this which was a trek with the shopping I had. Managed the whole album and it was pleasant. I got… 2 bags for life Oat milk Tomato sauce Sweet chilli sauce Sourdough bread Soy sauce Pink lady apples Onions Peppers Black pepper Cat laser toy Rice vinegar Spring onion Chicken breast Chicken burgers Came to £39.60. Cat too was £4.50, Apples were £3.75 and tomato sauce (not even the big one) was £3.40. Fucking joke
Too damn long. Stephen Stillsinging more like. AMIRITE
The most perfect name for this album because my soul is buttered. I really avoided it due to the length of the tracks but I loved it. Saved to my favourites.
This album is fucking fantastic. It's an album that will completely change your mood in a good way. Paved the way for a lot of artists. Wonder if Nevermind would've had the sound it does without Doolittle? Get your headphones on and listen to this in any environment and it will just work. Just fucking have it!
I got weird comforting 90's vibes from this. Whilst I know 'Beautiful Ones' isn't on this album, his voice always takes me back to that song which was always on Radio City back in the day. I remember that song so vividly through my childhood. I thought this was a decent album and one I have saved. I enjoyed it.
Probably the best time for this album to be played. I am off work tomorrow and it's really sunny outside. This is perfect sit in the garden with a beer kind of music and I was all for it.
Starting with 'Avalanche' which was my favourite, I thought the next two were a step down and I thought I would be writing this album off but then 'Dress Rehearsal Man', 'Diamonds in the Mine', 'Famous Blue Coat' & 'Joan of Arc' were fucking great. Saved album. What a nice slow treat
Not for me. I like the arrangement but the voice sounded like Liza Minnelli and I couldn't get past that fact
Other than the hits, nothing grabbed me as much as I thought. Needs a repeat listen deffo. Sticking with a 3 but I do think it could be slightly unfair as it was broken up in how I listened
Before I get into this I just want to acknowledge my mistake (like I knew I would have to) after listening to 'Electric Ladyland' by Hendrix again. I want to bump my score up to 4/5. I regret my initial score. As for this I didn't like it and I will not be amending my score of 2.
I thought I would like this more than I did. Deffo see the influence on other bands. Some of it reminded me of Sams Town by the Killers. Few standouts but not enough. Just scraped a 3
A wiki comment regarding the album warrants a 5 alone; 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', simply, sounds like fucking. Even the purest virgin comes away from Blood Sugar Sex Magik with a degree of sexual maturity; even the slickest playa can learn a couple of new moves." This is considered the best RHCP album and it's hard to disagree. It's not my favourite as By The Way was the album that introduced me to them but it is the best. Other than RHCP, what else sounds like this? 'I Could of Lied', 'Breaking the Girl', Blood Sugar Sex Magik', 'Under the Bridge' and 'If you have to ask' are some of my favourite RHCP songs all on one album. Funky as fuck with a young Frusciante doing his bits
Nice voice but album bored me. I hate 'Save the Children'. I don't hate children and if a child needs saving then yeah, let's save them but this song half makes me think we should just leave the children if it's going to produce more songs like this
Love ones are hard sometimes when you’ve not heard an album by that particular artist. Some songs were decent but I did zone out a little. Just not for me but I think if I knew more songs it’s be different
Love Ice Cube Love the way he sounds Great album. Pretty heavy subject throughout along with one of the greatest hits in 'It Was A Good Day'
I have no idea what this album is doing here. It's like a school project by some edgy teen. I didn't enjoy it which is fine but I didn't even appreciate it. Has no place playing to my ears
My first ever Prince album listened in full and it was a treat. It so 80s yet it sounds like no other 80s album. I know the classics are east to talk about but what an intro this album has. Loved it and saved
Great album. Feels like it's gospel like in parts. It's an album to close your eyes too and just float about. I would say if I had the ability to fly I would probably listen to this album first. So much nostalgia and I think it's a cracker. Can't help but think of Eminem though when listening to Moby
Enjoyed this one. Big fan of 'Rock Box' and 'Wake Up'. First time listening and one I will get back to.
My first Paul Weller album. Thought it was decent but felt it was possible overstating it's welcome. Don't know haw he's alluded me all these years but I would check out other stuff by him due to his influence.
similar vibes to the last one. Great voice, cool as fuck. Just not an album I would sit and listen to. If I was at a party and this was just playing in the background I'd be all for it but not noteworthy when listening alone from start to finish
I enjoyed this album but it did overstay it's welcome. Bell Bottom Blues is the highlight big time. I would honestly of rated it higher if it was split into two.
I love a good raw feedback sounding album but nothing really got me on this one. There were a few small moments I thought a song was going to grab me but then it repeated the same pattern.
Started off surprisingly good thought. I enjoyed the intro tack and 'Sutrix' but it didn't keep up the same level for me. Out of all drum and bass/electronic music out there, this does not really do much for me.
Another boss album by Radiohead. Their consistency is a joke. Well played lads
I have never listened to a Steely Dan album and I feel I have made a mistake....I really enjoyed this one. I dunno what it was but it gave me the head bops throughout. Saved this one and will be an album I return to.
enjoyed the intro song...got my hopes up...not for me in the end.
An album that slipped me by in 2003. I remember hearing a song in school and not liking it so that was that. Fast forward 20 years and I realise I made a mistake. This album was boss. I thought it was going to stick with the same tone and just when I thought it was too much of the same it switched it up. 'Pin' 'Man' 'Maps' - top tier
Few stand out tracks here. Loved the final song 'Bold as Love'. The opening track I didn't really like but then into 'Spanish Castle Magic' it all turned around for the better. I like Hendrix track that you feel him let rip on and there's a few on here.
Sometimes I see a rap/hip hop album pop up from the 90s and it can go both ways. Some are bouncy kind of hip hop albums which aren't really for me but then there's the kind with a heavy beat with banger after banger....this was the latter. I loved this album. There was a lad in my school who was really knowledgeable in this genre and always banged on about Nas....I see why
Alright. Enjoyed the song with Thom Yorke and 'We Float'. Solid 3.
For a Punk album I thought it was pretty tight. Can't knock the 15 minute run time. Suits the style and a few songs stuck in my head. 'I Just Want Some Skank' has had repeat listens
Solid feel good album. 'So Many Sides of You' & 'If You Think You're Lonely' were stand outs.
Think this s the second Bob Marley album I have had on this list and this one I thought was great. Not heard many albums all the way through by him but this is by far my favourite. Saved it.
Enjoyed this album a lot. Not heard much of Soundgarden but this type of sound usually goes down well with me. Big fan of the opener and ‘4th of July’.
Enjoyed this one. Unlike anything we’ve had up to now and sounded ahead of it’s time.
Not for me this. Just couldn’t enjoy it at all
Another Smiths album and another enjoyable listen. Possibly the weakest for me in comparison but that isn’t a sleight.
First full Maiden album. Enjoyed more than I thought I enjoyed the band in general. Maybe I was just sick of the hits.
Decent album. Had a good time with the country ones on this list.
Classic opening and a boss mixture of all types of guitar here. Solos and hard rock to sliding blues. Really can’t say a bad think about Led Zepplin albums that have popped up on here. All first listens for me which is shameful.
One of the biggest albums I can remember as a school kid. Seemed to hit the mainstream proper big time. As a result I really can’t stand American Idiot (song) but there’s a few belters in there. Even songs I’ve heard so many times. I like all the songs but stars are getting dropped for the title song and ‘Extraordinary Girl’
Enjoyed this album. Hard going in for a live one without knowing the band but still thought it was boss
All seemed to blend into one. I like the music in snippets but nothing really grabbed me. Willing to give them a go again
Great album. Been a fair few years since I listened all the way though but yeah, this album is an easy 5 for me. Love it
