Eurythmics
1/5
This album is really bad. It doesn't even have an interesting story behind it like some albums on here to make you realise why it's on the list. It literally just says 'Eurythmics second album'. Jennifer is one of the worst songs I've ever heard and somehow they instantly top it with This Is The House. I feel most people will probably give this album an extra star because of Sweet Dreams but I've never really liked that song either. The next album can't come quick enough

I'm just going to give this a 5 because I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't.
It's a surprise, I've never heard of these guys before but I absolutely loved it. Not usually massive on instrumental heavy music over lyrics but it just sounded brilliant. The guitar and base on each track was just so catchy. The album flowed so well and I loved the little drum and guitar solos to break it up. I'm definitely going to dive into this bands discography

DJ Shadow
2/5
Whilst not being something I'd usually listen to it did have a way of drawing me in more than I expected. But most of the tracks did feel like after 30 seconds I'd heard the whole thing but it kept going for another 4 minutes
Beatles
4/5
Great listen, a handful of forgettable songs stops it from being a 5
The Byrds
1/5
Just very bland and unremarkable. Even Bob Dylan songs I like and didn't know these covers existed of become pretty sterile and boring to listen to. The whole album pretty much sounds the same and the cover of We'll Meet Again was tragic
Wu-Tang Clan
3/5
Enjoyable album which I thought went from strength to strength throughout. Liked the whole persona and clan fighting backdrop
The Sugarcubes
2/5
Weird but not quite wonderful
Paul McCartney and Wings
5/5
Fantastic album from start to finish. I especially liked the part where the band was on the run
The Beach Boys
2/5
This was really bland, most the songs at least on the first listen were very forgettable. And some of the lyrics are a bit creepy down in retrospect
Astor Piazzolla
4/5
I didn't know what to expect of this one at all. But whacking on my Beats™ and pulling out my Dyson™ vacuum cleaner I went to do an hour or so of house cleaning as I listened. This performance was wonderful to listen to and the frantic and fast paced nature perfectly matched my chores to make it a much more enjoyable experience. Thanks Astor
ABBA
3/5
I don't see myself as a particular fan of ABBA but this was better than I expected. The songs have a way of dragging you into them by the end. Felt less cheesy than a lot of the ABBA I know which was good too.
Also the album cover is awesome
Frank Sinatra
4/5
Not much variety but still a nice relaxing listen to one of the greatest voices of all time
The Hives
4/5
Handful of songs I already liked on one album. Enjoyed the emergency public broadcast vibe it had
Gang Starr
2/5
Lyrics were pretty good but ultimately something I feel I'll forget about quite quickly
Joy Division
1/5
I guess it's really just not my jam. Non of the songs really jumped out at me and the whole album kinda just felt like a boring drone
Eurythmics

Nirvana
5/5
Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The first 5 songs especially are just one of the strongest openings to an album I've heard. Never really listened to Nirvana before this but I will be now
ZZ Top
2/5
Pretty forgettable for the most part. Some songs the vocals are pretty bad. La Grange is the only song that left a lasting effect
Iggy Pop
4/5
Really enjoyed this one. Great variety of songs and The Passenger is an all time classic
Elliott Smith
3/5
Nice vibe, nice voice. Not much on the album really jumps out though. It's consistently 'alright'
Simon & Garfunkel
3/5
I see what they were trying to do with the album them. I did like some of it but I don't think it clicked with me too much on a first listen. I can see a lot of the songs growing on me if I listened to it more
Elbow
4/5
People used to always talk about Elbow at school but I never listened to them. Kinda wish I did now. Really enjoyed the album, a good mix of different tracks. Possibly the only thing stopping it being 5 is the first track which tried to deafen me by blasting trumpets
James Taylor
4/5
Great relaxing voice, amazing acoustic guitar. Fire and Rain and Baby James are all time classics and Suite for 20 G is a hell of a bop. Just a really soothing listen almost from start to finish...
Steamrolller is just embarrassingly bad. It didn't fit with the rest of the album at all, took me out of the vibe of the rest of the songs. I just don't think James Taylor can really pull off a "I'm going to fuck you like a steamroller" sort of song. Awful stuff

David Holmes
1/5
Even by monotonous DJ standards this is bad. Most of the time I understand why people would listen to it and that its just not my genre. But this was another level of boring. The songs have no escalation or build. They don't change at all. It's literally a 30 second song then play it on loop for 5-7 minutes. If that 30 second loop is a bop then maybe you can pull it off but David was unable to do that
The Flaming Lips
4/5
I thought it was pretty good, I liked the theme of the album and the vibe going through it. I like albums that tell a story throughout. I was on the fence between a 3 or 4 because I thought there was a lack of big hits within the album but I think the album flowed very well and was enjoyable despite that so went for a 4
Cocteau Twins
2/5
There wasn't anything particularly bad but it was really forgettable for me. Like I already don't remember anything from the album. Singing voices were nice enough but 0 songs to hook me in
Bee Gees
3/5
I really liked the first song then was a bit disappointed that the rest of the album didn't hold the same quality. Wasn't the worst listen. Somebody Stop The Music was also pretty good but the album as a whole was middling.
Black Sabbath
4/5
Maybe to my surprise I really enjoyed this one. Lots of stuff that maybe I wouldn't usually be a fan of just seemed to click. Whole thing just has a bit of an aura about it which is rounded off by the absolutely brilliant album cover art. Stuff like Ozzy just screaming in despair in the first song and a handful of brilliant guitar solos were just a real enjoyment to listen to.
Arcade Fire
2/5
Boring, left no real last effect on me
Beth Orton
3/5
Her voice is really good and it was quite relaxing to have on for the drive but the songs were too forgettable to merit anything higher than a 3
Everything But The Girl
2/5
I liked the first song but ultimately it just sounds like cheesy 80s crap. Even though it's not my least favourite album so far, it is probably the album I think "why is this on this list?" The most. The majority of the good reviews seem to be "ah I remember listening to this when I was young" non seem to explain to me why it's important or not just cheesy crap
Radiohead
4/5
I enjoyed it, never listened to Radiohead before but I know they've got a big reputation. The album didn't really have any duds and flowed well. I also was interested by the theme of the album.
However it will not forever be associated with a failed flight attempt at an airport
Destiny's Child
3/5
Great voices and enjoyable to listen to. Not really a fan of putting all the hits right at the beginning of the album. Makes it feel like it peaks really early and then simmers out. Don't think the rest of the album is bad. It just dies down pretty quickly from a great start.
N.W.A.
4/5
Really enjoy this album. You can argue that a majority of the album sounds pretty much the same but I really like that sound so I don't mind. Some great hits and the songs in between are mostly good.
Small critique. They introduce themselves too much. Every song they say "Hey it's me rapping if you didn't know and the group's name is NWA" for the 5th song in a row
The Rolling Stones
2/5
Fine enough listen. Not a big fan of albums that are mostly covers so that dented the score a bit. I'm sure this band will have plenty better albums still to come on the list
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Great deep soothing voice. Enjoyed the majority of the album especially the first stint of 4 songs or so. Jazz Police was really bad though. Looking forward to listening to more of his work
Fairport Convention
1/5
Not a genre I really dabble with but also it does absolutely nothing to make me feel like I should in the future. Album cover is great though
Radiohead
2/5
Second album by Radiohead I've listened to and even though I gave Ok Computer a 4 I still wasn't sure what I thought of the band and whether they were good or not. Ok Computer had some actual good songs that kind of masked my complains with the band and the theme of the album was also very interesting.
However this album shows the band in a worse light with the issues I had originally becoming more visible. Mainly I can understand hardly anything that's being sung and most of the songs pretty much have the same droney sound to it and are very forgettable. There will probably be more Radiohead to come so I guess I'll see how this opinion evolves further
The Stranglers
3/5
A bunch of catchy songs and a generally good listen
2/5
It has its moments with a few cool solos and such but not really doing it for me
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Amazing voice, great guitar, the rock stuff is quality, the acoustic stuff is brilliant. Just a really good album.
It's crazy to think that without Thor Ragnarok no one would have even heard of this band. Marvel you crazy bastards you've done it again!
Anita Baker
2/5
Good enough voice but nothing I haven't heard a million times before. The album also lacked anything even close to a hit song
Metallica
2/5
I do often wonder if I genuinely committed some time to Metal that I'd eventually enjoy it. It feels at least for me that knowing the songs and the lyrics to shout is a large part of it as the guitar solos and random stuff never really does it for me. No slight on the music. It just never clicks with me.
It's crazy to think without Stranger Things no one would even know who this band is. Netflix you crazy bastards you've done it again!
Radiohead
4/5
This was a great listen. This is the 3rd Radiohead album I've listened to on this list and my feelings are still mixed. My only assumption to go on is that they collectively agreed to make every album a bit shitter than the last until it's eventually an unlistenable drone of experimental crap
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
It's a stacked album which is genuinely so chill and feel good to have on. Not a genre I particularly dive into but at least a handful of these songs will be known by most people. Three Little Birds is one of the most relaxing feel good songs I've ever listened to.
The Kinks
3/5
Absolutely love the sound it's great. Problem is it gets a bit samey as the album goes on. This isn't helped by the album being 20+ songs either. Makes it get pretty boring half way through
David Bowie
5/5
I didn't listen to this when it came out but it truly is a one of a kind album. On top of that I don't think it had a single song I didn't at least like and 3 or 4 very good songs. The eerie nature of the album and the melancholy feeling you get from the lyrics really does make it completely unique.
Led Zeppelin
3/5
Have only listened to LZ3 in addition to this and while this album still has some good songs I was a much bigger fan of the rock acoustic sound of the 3rd album compared to the bluesy sound of this album.
Bon Jovi
3/5
Some well known classics along with a enjoyable rock sound. Most of it is pretty forgettable but fun to listen non the less
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Becoming a big fan of Cohen because of this website. Liked every song on this album and love listening to the melancholy stories he tells
Sugar
2/5
Not really bad but incredibly generic and forgettable
Hugh Masekela
3/5
It was a nice enough listen but unfortunately due to my complete lack of knowledge of the genre all I can really say is it was a nice enough jazz album. As a genre I don't really know when I'd ever stick something like this on. But that's just personally me
Deep Purple
2/5
Not gunna lie. Wouldn't really be that into these song if they were the regular versions. Slapping me with 10 minute versions of each song where they loop instrumentals for 5 minutes at a time and kinda just scream isn't doing it for me either. I'm not denying this is probably a great live album for the fans of Deep Purple. The sound quality is great and it looks like it's full of content for them who love the songs. But give me a 2 hour album of songs I'm not fond of to begin with and I'm personally not gunna have a good time
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Pretty good but also pretty forgettable. A few good songs but nothing too memorable or catchy
Guns N' Roses
4/5
I was really expecting this one to be the hits and a bunch of crap but it was actually a really good and energetic listen
R.E.M.
3/5
Really enjoyable sound and listen. Slightly lacking in hits and variety to receive a higher score
David Bowie
3/5
A good listen but I much preferred Black Star
Gene Clark
3/5
Had a good time with this. Didn't know what to expect but it was a fun listen
Quicksilver Messenger Service
3/5
This was actually a good time. I love that it's just two giant songs and I love the love themed names that go through the first set
Lou Reed
3/5
Pretty good album. I liked listening through the story. I can see why listening to an album that is so bluntly about such a uncomfortable topic might not be the most easy listening. Not exactly something I'd throw on. Could have been a bit more articulate with some of the lyrics
Jane Weaver
2/5
Very forgettable. For an album that's so up to date it doesn't really do anything that I can see merits its place on this list
The Human League
4/5
This album is actually such a great listen. So many catchy beats and hooks on every song. Great fun from start to finish
Jefferson Airplane
3/5
Really enjoyable and varied with a surpringly high amount of hits on it
Television
4/5
Great sound, good mix of songs long and short. The longer music instrumentals were all very enjoyable too
Jack White
4/5
Actually brilliantly enjoyable album. Not listen to any of his work before but I was on the line to giving this 5. So much variety in the songs but all them hit so well. Great voice great sound
Love
3/5
Pretty good but heard better albums on this list from the same genre
Metallica
3/5
I enjoyed it more than the last Metallica and got behind a few of the songs. For metal this is pretty good for me.
The Mamas & The Papas
2/5
Got slightly better on the backend of the album but was ultimately pretty forgettable and generic
Ali Farka Touré
2/5
It didn't end up being as bad as it started and did sink into the background quiet nicely
The Gun Club
3/5
I felt like I liked the sound of the album and the voice but nothing really clicked beyond that. Felt like there was something missing. Probably in the quality of song itself? Nothing really gripped me
Paul Simon
4/5
Great voice great listen. Got some different vibes throughout the album but it really sucked me the whole time
New York Dolls
2/5
A genre and sound that I tend to like. But ultimately the album didn't give much to desire or remember
Isaac Hayes
2/5
Pretty snazzy but a bit samey after a while
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Reggae isn't a genre I listen too much. But man I'd be lying if I said this album didn't just make me feel good when listening to it
Green Day
5/5
This album was always an all time classic for me. All the songs are great but in addition to that the theme of the album is very well written and displayed throughout. It doesn't have that cringy whiney feel that some pop punk from this time and the early 2000s have where they are just complaining. It's genuinely a great look into loneliness, depression and that feeling of what am I supposed to do with my life. Billy Joels voice is always amazing and this is one of the only bands I constantly notice how great the drumming is and think Tré Cool is one of the best to ever do it.
R.E.M.
3/5
Still a great sound. Really fun to listen to. Lacking the hit power of later work
Ice Cube
4/5
Really liked this one. Really enjoyed the intermissions too
Depeche Mode
3/5
Best of this genre I've heard on this so far. Makes Eurythmics sound like dog shit
Mariah Carey
1/5
Yeah this wasn't too good at all. Honestly kind of disappointed with her voice too considering I thought she was help in high regard vocally
Scritti Politti
3/5
Felt like I was stuck in an 80s family comedy soundtrack. Can't decide whether that was good or not
Oasis
5/5
I love Oasis, and I know that some of the reasons I love them is why others may dislike them and I think that's fair. I think Liam's voice especially in the early years is absolutely brilliant and unique. I think Noel's songwriting ability is top top tier. You can argue that most of the songs lyrics make no sense, but I think it's a talent to make people feel so much emotion with the songs even though they make no sense. The album just slaps from start to finish. Doesn't get much better than this

If there is one thing I'm sick of on this list now that I'm 100 albums in, it's 1990s acoustic singer songwriters who are boring as shit to listen to and all sound the same. I love a good acoustic singer songwriter but for some reason in the late 90s it just all went to shit and it became bland as fuck. This isn't the worst one. This is just the one getting the brunt of my complaining
