When it's good it's so good.
Was going to give it a 4 but giving it a 5 to balance out everyone who's given it 1 or 2 because "the lyrics are silly"
The Bends is obviously great but presumably we have at least 3 more radiohead albums to come, so I have to leave myself somewhere to go and my knob doesn't go to eleven. My ratings are a mess anyway.
I prefer earlier and later Eno, but I still liked parts of this.
Not sure what to make of this one. If they did find the perfect beat they kept it to themselves.
Don't know why this is here
Quite the ordeal. 0 stars.
I could take or leave the first half. Got interesting in the second half.
5+ stars. Still spine-tingling on the hundredth listen.
Some nice moments but mostly forgettable
So Top of the Pops. Can vividly imagine Steve Wright or Simon Mayo introducing them.
If the generator had thrown up this Icelandic band I'd never heard of I think I'd have been pretty blown away by this to be honest. Definitely prefer this to later/ better known Sigur Ros which can occasionally slip into the mawkish. I also prefer that Jonsi is singing Icelandic here rather than a made up language, even if it's all the same to me. At what point does everyone saying something is overrated make it underrated?
ABBA are just really odd right? I don't hate the music and the tracks are super iconic and I'm sure they're great, just something about ABBA gives me the heebie jeebies. They creep me out.
Just nothingy really, besides about 30 seconds of one track which was okay but I can't remember what it was and don't care enough to check
Some sounds I wouldn't have associated with SW so that's nice. Very good but didn't punch me in the face so misses out on a grade 5.
Frozen is a tune. Bit of a mixed bag.
We seem to have had a lot of music like this. I found it boring and forgettable. I've actually already forgotten about it.
This should be right up my street but never really got into it.
No strong feelings against it, just can't work out why it's on the list
Somewhere between 3 and 4. I couldn't get rid of the thought they sounded like an aldi own brand pink floyd but you sometimes the own brand stuff is really nice.
Any band with a middle-aged man unironically calling themselves "The Edge" has their mark capped. 2 out of 4 stars.
Francie Teardrop reminded me of the clip where Nasser Hussain put a chair down on David Gower's foot. Other than that I took nothing from this.
Side 2 is 5/5. Mark Knopfler is such a virtuoso guitar player.
I can't review this, the album and artist mean too much to me
I really hated the first two tracks. Of the rest, some of the music sounded okay to me, but I wasn't a fan of the vocals at all.
Nothing here for me but I get why it's on the list.
I only realised once it had finished playing that I hadn't actually listened to it, which I guess says something
Brings back fairly vivid early-mid 2010 memories. I quite liked Chvrches, and their sound is distinctive.
I didn't like anything about this
Samey and not for me, but not entirely insufferable
I want my jazz albums live I think
Have you read the big beat manifesto lately, Jez?
Preferred this to their other one
Never properly listened to santana but this was great, particularly the first track
Just couldn't get into this
What an album. It is crazy that Dylan went from being a wannabe folk singer doing voers and playing harmonica for other people to this. One of the best albums ever in my opinion.
It's a five from Clive. This is what the list is all about. Give the people what they want. And they want Malian desert blues from Timbuktu.
Bit of a mixed bag, I really like some parts
Surprised not to take anything from this. Didn't hear evidence of Bowie's genius. A lot of the songs felt plodding and unimaginative.
I really liked the middle third of this album
Bonus points for covering one of BDs best songs not once but twice. Not great covers though. The psychedelic bit in the middle of the album was different.
I know of two people called Win. This guy and the dog that lives at arsenal's training ground.
I liked this but I've never given arcade fire much time. 4 for now but maybe I could love it.
Started off strongly, thought I'd really like it. Slipped away once the features started racking up
An interesting change up. I remember this being all the rage. Not really my thing though.
Excellent. Probably underrated even still.
Fourah Jones. Does what it says on the tin.
I saw John Grant in the Exeter University student union when he was touring pale green ghosts, shortly after he'd announced he was hiv positive. It was very moving.
Some signs of what was to come in Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden (their absence a grave injustice), which is enough for a 5
