Can appreciate its an influential album but doesn't do much for me
Catchy, light,frothy, fun
Brilliant keyboard. Daltreys voice !
Some classics .Great production and harmonies
Interesting.A concept album heavily influenced by Sgt Pepper. Kind of post war angst too
Good lyrics An interesting and atmospheric sound
Just don't get it...very pop
Better than the early pop stuff with one or two gems...Norwegian wood, In my life
Good beats and bass.Make for good driving music
Poignant distinctive not an easy listen
Frustrating as I like to follow the lyrics
Love his voice and the guitar phrasing
Little bursts of pure nostalgia. Supremely good pop. Some good rocking tunes...Roll Over Beethoven and Money. Stand outs for me Till there was you and You've Really got a hold on me. Lyrics to Little Child sound off to me now.
Seemingly nonsensical lyrics with okish music
Can't make up my mind on this one Feels like it's trying too hard to be ironic or Street?
Wanted to like this but struggled. Her vocals were OK but didn't seem to fit with the discordant music. Prefer Dylans version of Highway 61 to hers I'm afraid.
Memorable voice and lyrics. Raw
Didn't think I'd like it but actually did. Can't ignore those beats
Easy to listen, fairly melodic
Very difficult to listen to.Prefer Lydens voice when he was a Pistol
These seem to be a marmite band but I love marmite!
Thought I'd like it a lot more than I actually did
Interesting...theatrical...arty
Great voice...Great band...the energy
Great beats.Liked it more than I thought I would
Pure Hendrix .Lyrics a bit dodgy on some...but the guitar
Amazingly nuanced...one minute plaintive, the next joyous. Glad I listened
Way too experimental for me I'm afraid
Good harmonies but hasn't aged well.adolescent lyrics written by men in their mid twenties
Quirky...interesting
Timeless...wonderful harmony
Pure gold...warm...positive
This suprised me as I wasn't expecting the hard hitting lyrics and very listenable grooves. Liked it a lot
Very marmite...not keen I'm afraid...admire the politics and the sentiment but I find this kind of experimental stuff painful to listen to
Thought I'd hate this but I didn't. People tend to hate his nasal voice but to me, feels like he's accentuating the vowels on purpose...maybe to make a point More pop than I'd anticipated
Interesting lyrics and jazzy vibes
Infectious rhythms...essential dance nusic
Love Beth's voice and the overall sound.Intriuing lyrics
Epic...interesting...even better with lyrics I could understand
Good rhythms...awful words
Her voice is incredible with passion in the soulful delivery
Very odd lyrics with a wide range of predominantly folk instruments...can appreciate how it was influential
Didn't know much about them but a pleasant listen...just not great
Sweet dreams is still outstanding but I didn't like some of the other tracks at all Too electronic poppy
Quite a good sound overall. Liked the lyrics
One or two good tracks but a lot of poor ones. Interesting to see how they started
Latin grooves with elements of funk and hip hop
Great reggae vibe. Quite political on some tracks
Pleased that I still liked the album that I played so often back in the 80s.
Raw...very hard to listen to
Interesting, bluesy grooves
Listenable...liked his voice.
Good production values ok voice
Not really for me but I can understand how some people might really like it
Sorry to say I didn't like his voice or the arrangements
So many interesting and informative 5 star reviews for this album. Not really a metal fan but I loved this
Just can't get into it
Cool jazz Great organ sound
Amazing album...I just wish they'd given credit to the original writers such as Willie Dixon
Another marmite album. A strange mix of metal and symphony orchestra...doesn't really work for me
Poppy but with good funky arrangements and horns Fairly forgettable lyrics
Absolutely brilliant voice. Some of the arrangements are a little too schmaltz for my taste but others are just classic soul
A monumental album which features complex issues such as depression, bullying and losing a father at a very young age. Very operatic in its scope
Even allowing for his'persona' his misogynistic lyrics are pretty vile
Enjoyed the enthusiasm and musicality
Liked the vibe
Not awful by any means and might actually get better when familiarity sets in but on first listen not really moving me emotionally.
Almost hypnotic melodies with lyrics which make you work to uncover the layers of meaning
Seems very marmite Awful...like a therapy session in Hell. Suprised they didn't fall into a black hole of their own negativity
Somehow have never been on my radar. More interesting than I thought
Probably if I were a lot younger I might enjoy the angsty lyrics and full on loud bits. I can see how the album was influential.
Fabulous. Thoughtful lyrics and great production. This has aged well
The musical equivalent of Twin Peaks...rather disturbing.
Some interesting stuff here, which would probably sound even better with familiarity.
Very introspective with thoughtful lyrics
My kind of music. Intelligent lyrics
Great soulful vibes
Not my cup of tea
This sounded familiar and nostalgic. I rather liked it
Really like the overall sound and blending of influences. As I'm a 'lyrics' person, found the French slightly annoying
Really liked the whole album...Great fun
Her voice is great but not too keen on the OTT strings on some of the tracks
There's a lot to like here. Really like the instrumentation and she has a lovely voice but find her delivery just too laid back. Favourite track...Don't Get It...Great harp. Some pretty melancholy stuff.
My ears are literally bleeding after listening to the first two tracks Quite liked Dead Memories Snuff so it's not all bad
Didn't particularly like her voice, the lyrics or the arrangements...sorry!
If this is one of the greatest rock albums of all time then either I don't actually like rock or it actually isn't I'm sorry but Cream, Zeppelin, The Doors, The Stones...see where I'm going? OK so it was a debut album but I still think it's generally overrated
Heavy guitar and dark lyrics so have to be in the mood.Really liked his voice
Great to revisit some old favourites and listen to some less familiar ones. After 2 Slipknot albums, this comes as a blessed relief. Irresistible grooves and his wonderful voice. Yes he could be political too, often raising awareness of Third world inequalities but he never screams his message rather hypnotises you with the beat.
Some interesting stuff here
Lot of energy here.Rather liked it
Really lovely melodies and grooves
Judging by the reviews...another marmite album. In my opinion this is as good today as when I first heard it 50 odd years ago. Have to separate the 'man' from the music. One of my all time favourite albums
A pleasant suprise
