This album was an acquired taste for me… I dug “Waiting for the Man” and “Heroin” right off the bat, but the rest of the album went over my head as a teen… now, I can recognize the genius!
This album changed my life! The first 3 notes of “Black Sabbath” made me realize that music can evoke emotion, and a half step one way or the other can change the mood entirely. “The Wizard” is a master class in riff writing from Iommi, and Ozzy’s voice is haunting throughout… amazing!
Prince was a genius, and this album just provides proof of that fact. The songwriting, the musicianship, the production… all outstanding!
This album changed the way I look at music… The Clash was at once sloppy and weirdly polished; brash and snotty, but thoughtful. “The Only Band That Matters”, indeed!
This album was one that helped me realize that “genre” is a silly concept… funk, soul, r&b, rock… whatever! If it sounds good and feels good, it is good!
Mind boggling!!
Soooo many great songs on this album! A guitar masterpiece, and songwriting epic!

Blew my mind…
Sabbath defined a genre…
Nobody writes like Neil…
