Wow, this is an uneven record.
at its best - CTI-style fusion Jazz of the late 70s.
At its worst - "contemp jazz" you'd hear overhead in a hotel lobby.
More good than bad though, would listen again.

this is one of those records where the production and engineering are so good, so distractingly good - it sounds expensive and all I can think about is how they probably never saw any royalties because Epic never recouped the cost of the album.

Woke Up This Morning (aka the Sopranos song) is a very good song, but in a weird way the whole album kinda sounds like that. same beat, same cadence to the lyrics, same kinda vibe. So after 30 minute it's like "OK find I've heard the Alabama 3 song."
Still, it's a good song.
