Southern Rock Opera
Drive-By TruckersWhat a ride. Funny, sad, made me roll my eyes, made me nostalgic all at the same time. Three Great Alabama Icons was arresting in a way I haven’t experienced in so long. Will definitely listen again

Not my favorite Dylan but a lot of good stuff! Stand outs are Mr. Tambourine Man,Love Minus Zero, and Baby Blue. Sometimes I tune out in the long songs but who’s to blame me
I struggled paying attention and getting through the longer songs, but it was cool to see rainy day dream away in context. I also liked the atmospheric stuff and feel like it would have been so cool to see live. Excited to listen to more Hendrix
really blown away by this one.
Nostalgic for sure. Clocks was fun
Beautiful. She knows what it feels like to be in love, and to be out of it. What a treat, even though it was long.
I can tell she was giving it her all and I respect her for that but it just didn’t really hit for me
Fun listen but I don’t think I’ll do it again
Didn’t realize how corny The Beach Boys are, but there’s certainly a time and place. I really liked a day in the life of a tree, of course
Great listen for Father’s Day. Excited for more
Not my favorite jazz—kind of busy, better dancing music than easy listening imo
Weird
I don't really get the hype
Not my fave, but want to listen to more
Really fucked with this album. Very 2008 and just a generally fun and energizing listen
Not my bag
Excellent listen. Really fun, start to finish. Loved the remixes especially
Amazing listen. Listened the same day I watched Do the Right Thing for the first time during a Bed-Stuy heatwave. Transformative
Really loved this album! Didn’t know the band at all but combines a lot of elements I really dig.
I just don’t like jazz all that much but this was an ok listen
Didn’t like, weird and not for me.
Nothing to write home about but a groovy listen!
Really beautiful album. Soaring vocals and melodies. Pleasure to listen to his interpretations of a lot of these hits, even if they’re not my personal fave versions.
One of my first real listens of funk. I liked it, but still not a huge fan of the long songs. But more tolerable here for sure. “More power to the pussy/more pussy to the people” preach
Really enjoyed this one! Excited for more steely dan
I can see why everyone hated Yoko Ono… although this is ofc in John for having a bad solo career.
Not my favorite disco/funk but a fun listen overall!
I really didn’t like anything about this
I guess I don’t like jazz that much
I love albums like this. Def want to relisten
Nothing to write home about
I had to warm up to this album, the first bit def wasn’t as strong as the second half. Let me just say prince I wasn’t familiar with your game …. Respect
Nothing to blow me away but a fun listen. Not sure if I’ll come back to these a ton but I liked hometown blues
This rocked
Not my vibe but I’m sure it would be a concert. And too long
Had some stand outs but otherwise pretty easy listening tbh
For a band called joy division they’re not very joyful
A pretty long album and some of the songs weren’t it for me but I liked the artist and want to listen more
No skip album
Not world changing. Sort of eh but I think my dad had this album.
Fun but not revelatory for me personally
I can tell why ppl love this
Fun and funny but some of the skits were gross. Liked public enemy and Kendrick better but this was also v good
Really liked this one
Audio nostalgia. Five star album.
a nice throwback. I can imagine what this would be like listening for the first time
Really fun to listen to the bass lines on this one
I feel like I wouldn’t really call this country and western but it was fun to listen to. Not my fave of all the covers tho
This was a fun listen! Cool to hear take a load off in context
Excited to listen to more of the roots. Liked this one a lot, probs more than Dr Dre
Billy joel but worse imo
What can I say, this album blew my mind the first time I heard it back in college. I was going through my uncle’s vinyl’s. He passed from AIDS in the early 90’s, several years before I was born. Listening to his music was a way for me to get closer to him. I have a lot to say about this album—Gimmie Three Steps spoke to me under a queer listening, imaging myself flirting with some guy’s girlfriend. I can see a queer country reworking of that song in modern day and I always love singing along when it comes on. You can’t bring up Lynyrd Skynyrd and not talk about the Confederate flag and feud with Nike Young. I think the Drive-By Truckers did an excellent job examining this in their album Southern Rock Opera, getting to the root of “the southern thing” and how politicians weaponize racist symbols and policies to divide a region where nearly everyone’s neck is under the same boot. The real southern thing is seeding division among the people and breaking class solidarity so that everyone can be exploited—and I think the finger pointing that comes from northerners is just a hammer in that toolbox.
Not interested
No offense but who put this on here
Fun!
Loved this one
Fun!
Good listening for my acupuncture appt but I think I liked the last album more
Fun but nothing to write home about imo
No skips album. My grandparents saw this on tour, and I have a ticket to the show taped on the album cover of the albums vinyl.
….i was hoping for more
Don’t judge an album by its cover except this one
This walked so the challengers soundtrack could run
I am mot Jesus tho I have the same initials…
Really enjoyed this one and all the diverse instrumental tracks
I don’t think he really protected yoko with this work and can see why the world came for her, although I am a yoko ono apologist. Imagine is one of the corniest songs ever but has done a lot of good, I think
