Man this album sucks. It feels like something a chubby middle school kid would listen to before he puts on a fedora and goes to the school dance, where he just stands in the corner judging the kids who are having fun. Under the Bridge slaps, but the rest of this album is terrible.
There are two types of people in the world. Those who love ABBA, and those who pretend they don’t love ABBA. I thought I was in the latter category, but this album makes me think I’m in the former. This is the first album of theirs that I listened to fully, not just the hits. I have to say it’s fantastic. I would love to listen to this again at some point.
Absolutely a fantastic album. I’d never listened to all of this and it was such a delight to listen to some Queen deep cuts. There’s a reason why they’re held in such regard. This album blows me away.
A wonderful album with great songs. Can’t believe they were only together for three years, and they managed to create so many tunes that are still played today.
This is what country is about. Waylon takes pain and hope and love and blends it all together in a great album. He’s definitely a pillar of country for a reason.
I liked a couple songs but overall not my speed. There were some moments that they sounded like the Stones though, so that was cool.
This is definitely my type of music. I’ve always love The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, but it was nice to hear the rest of this album. Very ragged folky bluesy sound.
I didn’t realize how much this album had been in my life. I mean obviously Tom Sawyer kicks ass and is the go to Rush song for most people. There are so many other stars on this album though; YYZ, Limelight, and everything else. I love Rush’s obsession with clean and tight lyrics too. Every part of this album has meaning and creates a total vibe. “Neil Peart stands alone.”
Not really for me. I can get how people enjoy it, but seriously it gets far too preachy on Meat is Murder. It’s a fair point but executed pretty brutally, just like the animals are I suppose.
Very noisy, almost experimental. It’s definitely “good” objectively. But subjectively I find it too nebulous and lacking in substantial statement. It’s heavily veiled in metaphor like Dylan, but not as profound in my mind. You can definitely feel the sadness in his voice and the real ness of what he’s saying. Rose: the B-Side. Thorn: the A-Side.
This album is great. I enjoy their sound a lot. I probably won’t listen to this much if at all, but I enjoyed the time I spent with it. I’m definitely glad I heard this.
I honestly thought I would have enjoyed this album more. Joplin is an unparalleled singer and you can really feel her rocking out in most of this album. But the band behind her isn’t very strong and a lot of the time that makes her appearance seem weaker. I wanted to like it but I really didn’t.
Pretty awesome album, although I didn’t give it the attention it deserves. I’ll definitely have to give it another listen and pay more attention to each track. I definitely enjoyed it though.
This album has a lot of hits and is overall really good. Of course I love My Generation , I Don’t Mind, and The Kids Are Alroght. The rest of the album is pretty rockin as well.
Man this album sucks. It feels like something a chubby middle school kid would listen to before he puts on a fedora and goes to the school dance, where he just stands in the corner judging the kids who are having fun. Under the Bridge slaps, but the rest of this album is terrible.
Pretty good overall, definitely 90’s. I probably won’t listen to it again, but I enjoyed it while I did.
Something definitely interesting. I wasn’t blown away by any means. It was pretty alright for a one time listen.
Really good album with a couple of hits. I’ll definitely listen to this again. It had a perfect vibe for driving in the summer.
I could see enjoying this if I were high. This is definitely good, but definitely not my jam.
I went into this album thinking I wasn’t a ZZ Top fan. And I went out realizing that was still true. This album has its moments and its good in its own way. I don’t really enjoy how just about every song is about the objectification of a woman.
This was a really enjoyable album that I had a lot of fun with. I haven’t listened to much Randy Newman, but I could see liking him.
I woul have enjoyed this more if I could have understood the lead singer.
Man what a fantastic album. Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, and so much more. I love Fogerty and Creedence and always will.
Quite a good album. I don’t normally enjoy live albums but this one went over really well. They definitely have a lot of great hits and a good presence. I’ve enjoyed a lot of their songs in the past and could see myself enjoying more.
I’ve loved a lot off this album for a long time. It really touches on the inner sadness of humanity. It’s really a shame he passed and couldn’t make more music. I love this album and will definitely listen again many times.
I honestly thought that I didn’t like reggae, but I guess I just didn’t like other reggae. This album was really dope and I can see why it belongs here. I don’t know that I’ll listen to it again, but I enjoyed the ride. I also love the talk about Marcus Garvey and the Black Star Line. What a crazy part of history.
A good album with a lot of stuff I wouldn’t normally hear.
I really don’t think this is for me. It’s okay but just not what I like.
Man I just can’t subject myself to this. The proficiency of playing is impressive but this is just too much loud, angry chaos.
Hey this album whips ass. I enjoyed it from front to back and will be listening to it again. This is some great rock with an energy all its own.
Pretty meh overall. It had some moments but I found it boring and wanted it to be over after a bit.
Pretty good album. I enjoyed most of the tracks though none of them really stood out to me. If someone were to play this at a party or something like that I wouldn’t mind.
Absolutely a fantastic album. I’d never listened to all of this and it was such a delight to listen to some Queen deep cuts. There’s a reason why they’re held in such regard. This album blows me away.
I mean I like Bowie, but this was too experimental for me to enjoy. It wasn’t bad, it was just a lot.
Great album. I really enjoyed the vibe all the way throughout. He has this quiet energy that sort of encompasses everything your doing while you listen.
Honestly this shit rocked my fucking socks. I really enjoyed the vibe of this album and I did not expect to. Great album.
Not that great. She had a good energy, but all of the songs sounded the same. I grew tired of it After the first track.
I didn’t find this enjoyable, but I can recognize that it’s good. Because it wasn’t my thing I skipped through a lot of tracks after the first minute or so. I really thought I would enjoy some songs based off of their opening riffs, but found they were lacking.
Solid album with a good sound. I’d never turn down a listen to it, even though it isn’t my particular vibe.
I dig this album. Elvis just carries so much love and pain in each one of his songs. He really makes me feel it.
Pretty alright sound, not a lot of stuff that I identified with.
Absolutely great. Loved this album. They have such a powerful good time sound.
A good album, it wasn’t what I expected as I really enjoy some of the Talking Heads other stuff. Still it was a fun listen.
This album is a total whip. The temptations always provide just what I need.
Damn, for some reason I wanted to not like this album. In spite of that I really enjoyed the hell of it. It really rocks in so many ways.
Absolutely fantastic album that is a highlight of Green Day’s career. I love so much of this album and have for as long as I can remember.
Not for me. I can get behind the music, but the vocals really don’t give me what I need.
I’m disappointed that not all of this was on Spotify. I was really enjoying the sound of it.
Pretty alright. I don’t find it amazing, just okay.
Terrific and resplendent. God love Sir Elton John. There’s a reason they made this man a knight, because his music champions the people to a different state of mind and brings them home safe again.
This album is fantastic. It really blew me away with its insanely chill vibes. The darkness of the story transcends the largely lyricless album, but hits hard in the beautifully written final track. What a piece of art.
This really didn’t make me feel anything other than bored. It was enjoyable at times, but lost itself trying to find some sort of experimental sound. Not my cup of tea.
An enjoyable rock album. I always enjoy the vocals of Rod Stewart, he’s so iconic. As for the rest of it I found it to be pretty easy to listen to and easy to enjoy. I don’t find it groundbreaking or mind bending, but it was definitely a solid, fun album.
Solidly chill album. I like that it embraces who would listen to it and for what reason.
Parts of this album really blew me away. Some of it was repetitive to be sure, but there was a level of energy that was constant throughout that kept me hooked. I really enjoyed this.
The pain in her voice is so powerful and transcendent. She captures the darkness in America’s racism and it’s truly depressing to see how short we’ve fallen since this came out almost 35 years ago. We haven’t changed much, and this album’s message still hits so damned hard. What a fantastic piece of real and sharp art.
This was a good calm album that had a really nice indie feel to it even though it came out long before that scene exploded. I enjoyed it.
A good album, I’m not a fan of live stuff though. Cheap Trick is good for their hits, but I don’t love much more than that.
A good album, I’m not a fan of live stuff though. Cheap Trick is good for their hits, but I don’t love much more than that.
A really good album with a terrific sound and a lot of metal feels to it. I’ll definitely listen to this again.
A really good album with a terrific sound and a lot of metal feels to it. I’ll definitely listen to this again.
A good album that I didn’t think I would enjoy, but ended up liking. Songs of oppression and strength in unity and unionizing. Not something I would expect out of the mid eighties, but not unwelcome.
A good album that evokes some honest emotion, but a little repetitive. Of course I love the standout single, but the rest of it sort of faded into the background for me.
This album really snuck up on me. I found myself enjoying the diverse sound and having a really good time with it. I honestly really liked this.
Honestly I was not that impressed with this album for as much as Aerosmith is revered. I like the breakout songs on here, but beyond that I wasn’t really entertained.
This album had some good tunes and an overall pleasant feel. I liked the grungy feeling it gave me.
Really don’t care for electronica.
Absolute banger of an album. Second Beastie Boys album I’ve had as part of the 1001 albums list, and neither has disappointed. These dudes kill.
What a fantastic piece of art. I listened to this twice in the same day and both times it blew me away. I’m truly astounded with how much I loved this. I’ll definitely keep this in my roster of music I listen to.
A very light and lovely album. It’s clear he approached this with a lot of love and care. That said I don’t know that I’ll listen to it much more. There were some songs that really hit me, but the rest didn’t.
This album was okay. I enjoyed parts of it, but it felt pretty bland after a while.
Really didn’t feel like listening to an hour of this. It sounded alright, but really not my style.
A wonderful album with great songs. Can’t believe they were only together for three years, and they managed to create so many tunes that are still played today.
Super fun album. I really enjoyed it and loved the energy it had.
Great sound, but I don’t understand French so I don’t feel like I can properly rate it.
You know Bob Dylan is a great lyricist, and some of his music is really transcendent. However, I don’t find myself enjoying him as much as I feel like others do. This was a fine album, but just that, fine.
Man I really dig this album. I’ve always loved Rod Stewart, and have heard some of Faces more popular work, but to dig into their deeper cannon feels pretty cool. I really enjoyed this album.
This album was slick as hell. Loved the heavy energy and the clean vocals. It really is an excellent example of what metal should be.
This is pretty dope. Some hard truths on here that is still felt today.
A great album with good energy. It really shines a light on what good rap can be.
This is a good album, though not particularly my taste. It feels too depressing without really touching on the pain of depression. Not sure if I will listen to it again.
You know I love the Eagles. This is a great album. I’ve got nothing more to say.
A cool and mellow sound with notes of punk and darker energy. This was a good album.
Not particularly my style. I enjoy their energy, but it feels weird in a way that I’m not a fan of listening to.
I started out thinking I wasn’t going to enjoy this, but it really caught my attention. By the end I was really invested in the sound and power brought to the vocals and backing. A dope experience for sure.
I forget how short this album is. But it stands as an excellent piece of music. I love this album and the calm vibe it presents. It has a darkness that plays in the corner with evening light. They dance and make a beautiful quiet racket that is this album.
This feels far too niche to be on the 1001 albums you must listen to before you die. It’s not bad, but it certainly isn’t amazing. There are a few good tracks, but it’s subpar all in all.
A very interesting sound. I wish I understood the lyrics. I liked most of what I heard as far as instrumentation.
This is what country is about. Waylon takes pain and hope and love and blends it all together in a great album. He’s definitely a pillar of country for a reason.
I know for some jazz is relaxing, but it honestly stresses me out. This album is good, and Miles Davis is a singular talent, but I can’t say I enjoyed it. I think that’s on me though because I don’t really care for the genre.
A fantastic album with a fantastic track list. Absolutely legendary.
A good album with good songs and a solid message. I enjoyed it for sure.
This has a nice sound and a pretty relaxed vibe. I didn’t love it but it certainly wasn’t bad. I’d listen to it again and feel fine about it.
Hot damn this is my first experience with Elvis Costello and I am blown away. This album is absolutely fantastic.
Pretty alright, I enjoyed the sound and high energy of it. Not mind blowing, but definitely worth a listen.
This album is just straight up weird. Not for me.
Good sound, but I wish I understood the lyrics. Can’t judge it appropriately.
A terrific album with awesome sound. It provided a really interesting atmosphere and its definitely worth a relisten.
Fantastic album. There’s nothing like James Taylor. I could listen to this everyday and find joy in it. What a delight.
Fantastic piece of art with great hits and great b-sides. I definitely slept on Cyndi Lauper, but she rocks.
Dope album with some really inspired tracks. Totally worth the time.
Timelessly good. Prince in his prime was truly a poet. This album is a masterwork.
Solid album with some good hits. But the sound of it gets pretty repetitive after a while. I enjoy the vibe that it has, but it relies on that vibe a bit too heavily.
Honestly, better than I expected. I wasn’t a fan of the first album of theirs that I listened to, but this one was pretty good when it wasn’t trying to be preachy. I get why some people dig the Smiths.
Nope, not for me. Really surprised this band has two albums on this list. Their music is strong, but I can’t get with the vocals.
I gave this a shot, but I didn’t enjoy it. I don’t think punk is really for me.
Not really catching a break here this week. This album was a no go for me too. I didn’t enjoy the discordant nature of the music, or the lead vocals whiny tone.
Pretty good sounds. I liked it.
I think this album is decent, but I just didn’t enjoy it. His voice is just too monotonous and distorted. I’m not into it.
Pretty alright. I didn’t hate listening to it. Nothing to write home about though.
Started out strong but left me wanting after the A side. I’d listen again, but my expectations are a lot lower now.
He’s got a dope sound and a fierce energy. Just not my type of music.
I like the experimentation of this, but I didn’t love the album.
Totally rad album. I didn’t realize how many bangers were on this. Absolutely deserves to be on this list.
A super relaxing and entrancing album with tremendous vocals and fun sound. I’ve listened to parts of it before but the album as a whole is a fantastic journey. I would absolutely listen again.
There is a deep part of me that links back with Rod Stewart. In a way his music has always been a part of my life. This album is just another thread in that web. It’s fantastic and touches on folk, rock, and even a hint of soul. His raspy voice and picked guitar are timeless. Some of these songs will be played at my funeral.
Listen. I get this. It just caught me on the wrong day. I can recognize that this has some damn good sound, but I just don’t feel the rage and anger that I need to enjoy this.
This was going to get 4 stars, but closing on You Can’t Always Get What You Want bumps it up to 5 easy. Holy shit what a dope set of songs.
Didn’t seem groundbreaking in terms of sound. Can’t really comment on the lyrics.
An enlightening sound, though not what I’m accustomed to. Really good energy.
This album is like swimming in the early autumn when the weather is still warm and the water is just beginning to cool. It’s a mellow and calm experience, but you don’t want to stay in too long.
Not exactly my favorite. There is a reason this is so well known, but it doesn’t really blow me away.
An interesting album with some less experimental jazz that was largely enjoyable.
A good album, full of violent fun sound. Not the best Stones album, not by far. But I had fun listening to it.
For some reason Elvis Costello’s sound makes me think of Christmas. This album doesn’t have the edge the Welcome to the Working Week did, and I don’t find it as enjoyable. Still it was a pleasant listen and if I were to hear it again I wouldn’t complain.
I get this even though it’s not particularly my style. I won’t listen again.
I just find John Lennon so pretentious on his own. It’s so hard to enjoy his solo work, because he just seems like such a prick.
I mean I get it, but I think I’m finally on the side of “The Beatles are overrated.” They absolutely made insane steps that changed the music industry forever, but you know I just don’t like them that much.
Honestly a pretty good album, but it bleeds together after a while. I enjoyed it, but didn’t find it to be a true masterpiece.
I thought I would enjoy this more than I did. I love Sinatra most of the time, but this was almost too mellow for me. It didn’t show off the power of his voice.
I usually love Rod Stewart, but this album really didn’t do it for me.
This album really kicks ass. It has a violent and heroic feel, with hints of despair and loss. Totally blew me away.
I found Terminator X to be fantastic, but Flavah Flav was not the best. I enjoyed this more than I expected to, but less than I wanted to.
Never liked Stevie Wonder, and I can’t really explain why. I feel almost guilty admitting that, but it’s true.
God this was boring and whiny. I did not enjoy this album at all.
Honestly this album made me uncomfortable. It has a lot of rapey dialog and I’m not into it.
This was fine. Not a mind blowing piece of music or anything.
This is a great album with a really nice ambient sound. I could see this going on in the background of a chill hangout, or at a busy bar on a Wednesday. Definitely will listen again.
What a strange and delightful album. I enjoyed parts of it but found that most of it was not for me. Though I’m sure Flash and the Five would say it’s for everyone. I liked it in a way, but won’t mind if I don’t hear it again.
Honestly the rhymes were dope, but juvenile. Not my style.
What even is this? The lyrics are fantastic, but this is just way too nebulous to enjoy.
This was a slog. I fought to enjoy it, but just couldn’t get into it.
This was fantastic. Her vocals are amazing and the background is beautiful. I didn’t like the track with the guy laughing as he sang, but I’m sure that’s just personal taste.
I really enjoyed the subtle tones of this album. It feels a lot like relaxing metal with punk influences. I would totally listen to this more.
This is good, but it’s really just that. It feels soulful, but not deeply unique. I’m not sure I can describe where it’s lacking, only that it is.
I’m happy I gave this album a chance. I had a deep dislike of Ghosteen and Nik Cave’s sound in that album, but I find that all that album lacks is more than present here. The Boatman’s call is a fantastic album and I really loved listening to it.
Honestly I don’t understand the hype behind this album. Sure, the breakout hits are fantastic, but the rest feels like it’s going nowhere slow.
By far and away one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. This is what I think of when I think of punk. Absolutely perfect banger of success.
This is a four star album. It has amazing breakouts, fantastic b tracks and has an astounding energy that I love. It gets five stars because of the history I share with it.
I can understand that this maybe influenced the moody indie scene of the early 2000’s, but it is definitely outpaced by its descendants.
A classic piece of rock and roll fantasy. Love it.
I feel like the entire album sounded pretty much the same. A little too whiny for my tastes to be honest.
This album has some great hits, but I feel is missing a connecting line through the songs.
Some original stuff in here, but nothing amazing.
Wouldn’t believe this was Dylan if you told me. Not my style.
