Live! by Fela Kuti
May 03 2024

Good energy throughout. Songs are repetitive and probably something that is better experienced live.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
May 04 2024

I was expecting more given the blend of genres. the country music aspect was over-dominant and the rambling lyrics aren't for me. Perhaps as a non american gen x I find the music inaccessible.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
May 05 2024

Overall an easy listen. Reggae has a bit of a homogenous sound - like coffee and red wine tastes. I love melody and rhythm when it comes to appreciating music, as opposed to lyrical content. Fairly solid album overall with some familiar hits.

Sea Change by Beck
May 06 2024

Lost cause is the only song I've heard before - and several times at that. The singing is hypnotic and croony but not melodic in nature. A few tracks stand out with beautiful swells but they do seem to blend into each other. Overall an average album - probably won't listen again

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
May 07 2024

Love the keyboards and some of the drumming. Lyrics are desperately simple and lazy at times which made me cringe e.g blue Sunday. I'm familiar with the Doors but never heard a whole album from them. Nice to delve into their sound but not likely to come back to this one.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
May 08 2024

Really enjoyed Master of puppets the track and Orion, but first full listen through a metal album.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
May 09 2024

I love hearing originals from more famous songs that have sampled from it. Opening track hits you with 90s nostalgia for Gettin Jiggy with it by Will Smith. We're lost in music is another familiar tune and a strong follow up to the opener. The disco groove made me bop while holding my sleeping baby. Thereafter aside from the title track which is good but so cheesy, the sounds seem to blend. Not a fan of the overbearing romantic lyrics

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
May 14 2024

Impressive that Dave Grohl did it all. An average album for Foo fighters

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
May 17 2024

This one is interesting because of the sounds they have created are paving the way for the future. Electronica/Punk/Metal. Vocals are at times off putting but the music is good enough to keep me in touch. Nice to see featured insturmentals

Funeral by Arcade Fire
May 19 2024
Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
May 20 2024

I hadn't heard of this artist but I knew the song without you.

Revolver by Beatles
May 21 2024

One of the all time classics I've never heard as a whole. Knew certain classics such as Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, I'm only sleeping and got to get you into my life. This was the last Beatles album before they broke up and it's interesting hearing what their sound was like. Really enjoyed Love to you with the sitar riffs. The final track is a shout into the future with a drum and bass sound

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
May 22 2024

A cool listening experience and the most strange album so far in this list

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
May 25 2024

This album was a surprise but a welcome one. Astonishing vocals and a strong influence for female singer songwriters that would follow her.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
May 26 2024

I should stop reading reviews until I've formulated my own opinion of the albums. Many painted this album a generic gloom britpop. However what strikes me is the unconventional instrumentation (cutter, white devil). The vocals are ok for their lyrics and not impressive for their quality - bit warbling and atonal. I only knew Killing Moon from this artist before this listen.

En-Tact by The Shamen
May 27 2024
The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
May 28 2024

Epic tracks, sweeping soundscapes and well constructed tunes. Not a fan of the wailing vocalist so 4/5 for me

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
May 29 2024

Good singer but the voice really sounds dated. Perhaps it can be appreciated by those who enjoy the lyrical content but the music isn't for me 2/5

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 31 2024

Haven't heard this artist before. Immediately found the vocals to be a turn off, as he sounds whiny and nasal. Overall a forgettable album 2/5

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Jun 01 2024

I didn't get this album unlike so many others. It's culturally significant, but musically meh. Too religious for my liking.

Kenya by Machito
Jun 03 2024

Big band jazz is fun, but like chocolate it is sickening after a few bites. Quite a complex sound with lots going on. I didn't give myself time to really listen in depth. This didn't have an African sound despite the promising title. 3/5

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jun 04 2024

Never heard a Prince album before. This was terrible with cringey lyrics. I've heard he is an excellent guitarist but this never featured. 1/5

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Jun 05 2024

Country music has always been an instant turn off for me. I did however enjoy this listen to an extent given the story telling nature of the songs, Dolly's clean vocals and the short but sweet length of the album. 4/5

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Jun 06 2024
Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Jun 11 2024

So many highlights including denial twist, instinct blues. Enjoyed this one

Jun 14 2024

Big throwbacks in listening to Pounding and There Goes the fear. These featured in my mixed CDs of old and I'm sure I heard them on xfm back in the day. Enjoyed the varied soundscapes and I liked how different the lead vocals sounded in the first 3-4 tracks

Pump by Aerosmith
Jun 19 2024

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this. Classic rock and roll

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jun 22 2024
Brothers by The Black Keys
Jun 25 2024

Great album with so many good songs including Next Girl, Tighten up and The Only one. Good variety of vocals with an instrumental track

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jun 26 2024

A beautiful album and one I'll revisit many times.
