Viva Hate
MorrisseyI enjoyed it. I generally love the Smiths so a Morrissey album is not a hard listen for me. Though I would rather just listen to the Smiths
I enjoyed it. I generally love the Smiths so a Morrissey album is not a hard listen for me. Though I would rather just listen to the Smiths
This is likely the best album of all time in my opinion.
No my favorite PJ Harvey album. But it did remind me how much I love and miss that gritty, dirty 90s sound.
Last track (Maggie M'Gill ) was AMAZING! Might be my favorite Doors song now.
I can see where the cliche of "metal" comes from in this album. Didn't enjoy it but respect when they can unify their instruments as one.
Solid Radiohead album. Not my favorite but keeps you engaged!
Amazing! Kurt's voice is the star of this album!
Eh... I can see it's is important but not great
Ugh. Boring!
It okay. Like a boring version of the Smiths.
Could be the worst county I have ever listened to.
Ugh. Disappointed
OMG! No good!
Liked it better than I thought I would. I can feel many female artists that I love being influenced by Debbie Harry. Shirley Manson of Garbage, Mazzy Star, Portishead. I can also feel the punk influence on Blondie it's polished pop punk but I can feel it.
I enjoyed it. I generally love the Smiths so a Morrissey album is not a hard listen for me. Though I would rather just listen to the Smiths
I mean I can see how this was important and maybe even ground breaking at the time, but I don't think I'll ever have to hear that again. Though I remember my Dad playing "A Boy Named Sue" for me years ago... So that has a fun nostalgia for me.
I dug all of the music. Didn't always love the lyrics but all and all it will be one I return to every now and again.
I can see how and why this was so ground breaking. I didn't love the second half of the album but understand how this was a pre cursor to modern day electric music. Pretty awesome overall!
Not terrible but I found I would love one song than hate the next. I am curious why this made the list.
This album started with 5 stars because Dummy could be my favorite album ever. But after the listen, I can't say I was impressed. It felt uninspired and at times it was so dissonant that I questioned if I was being pranked. It was a big disappointment for me
I enjoyed this a lot. Light, fun! I will likely put him in my rotation!
Not bad. But if rather listen to the Gorillaz!
I can see why it's a classic!
I really enjoyed it. It felt like they might have been an influence on Nirvana. I felt that Nirvana feel to them. Didn't love it but will definitely come back and listen to it again.
I really enjoyed it. Morning ground breaking but solid
So bad! I felt like I was at a bad rave in Barcelona without the coolness of being in Barcelona. Ugh. That was rough.
I really loved this album! I didn't realize how many tracks I already knew. It was fabulous from front to back. The thing that got me the most was this album has one of the best starting tracks on any album. It's up there with Nirvana smells like teen Spirit as an opening track. 20 years ago. I would have thought this album was a cheesy and derivative classic rock album. Now I realize this album is where the mold probably came from. 2nd 5 star album thus far for me!
This album opened me up to Neil Young. I didn't love it, but the jamming in that last track made me want to take a second look at him. I don't love his voice but I could likely get into some of his music. This is why I joined this project. Open me up to stuff I wasn't into before. I don't expect it to show me anything I will fall in love with, rather give me new options to get to love!
Didn't love them but it was cool to hear the link between 70s punk and 80 industrial music! I did actually list to another one of their albums and liked it better.
If I wanted to listen to the doors I would just do that. The organ killed it for me. Not on replay for me.
It was an acceptable album. I would like to listen to their earlier stuff. The wiki said this was abit of a departure. Worth further exploration of the band.
Dude! This was pretty darn good! I haven't really listened to the stones that much. This will be a great start for me to listen to many times. I really dug the blueys songs.
Fun style. Upbeat and I would think that I would love them. I remember digging another album of theirs in the early 2000s. But it was kind of a mess. It just goes to show you actually need good "song writing" even in punky, poppy, rock bands.
Ugh. It was fine. And I even enjoyed the Motown vibe but I don't understand how this is influencial... Maybe it spawned everyone making Christmas albums... If that's the case it might not be a "good" influence. Lol
Ugh. Not digging it.
Great album. I enjoy White Stripes stripped down style better but it's great to hear Jack grow. I listened to this album quite a bit a decade or so ago.
Apparently I like the P of the P-Funk better. Funkadelic was a little too guitar heavy for me. I prefer the bass driven grooves from George, the Star Child Bootys Colins, and the rest of the Parliament stars from the Mothership. "Hey Baby Bubba"
Ugh. Not good. I was bored.
I might have liked it if it had more of the fast/bluesy songs... But only 2 or 3 isn't enough.
Not bad. But I would rather listen to the Clash!
I like a good concept album even if it's not my favorite musically.
Best Jazz album EVEr! In my top five albums ever!
Classic!
I really enjoyed this album.
Another amazing Jazz album!!
Classic! Bob is the man!
Not really my bag! But I can respect it.
I really wanted to like this album but I hate Jello Biafra's voice. I love a little satire and shock value but the lyrics were just barf. For being a big punk album it was a real let down for me.
Kind of boring. But acceptable.
Loved it. Weird and I really enjoyed the percussion heavy songwriting.
I can see how this album is the basis of hair metal.
It was okay. I just don't love his voice.
I enjoyed all of the robot voices but overall it was kind of boring.
Ugh. Take all the things that make Port his head awesome and take them away and then you would have this album. I can't give it just one star because it was calm enough and chill enough that it was tolerable.
It was fine. Just not my thing
I really enjoyed this album. It was fun to hear these classics covered by Otis! It will for sure go into my rotation.
Like the electronic half better that the standard rock half. It was not my favorite Bowie
Ugh. Acceptable
I would have it five stars if it were traveling without moving. That's my favorite jamiroquai album.
Really fun 80s hip hop
I enjoyed it
Classic!
Ugh. Take all the annoying parts of the new metal movement of the '90s. Put it all in one album and this is what you got.
Didn't like it
He only got 2 stars because it was kind of funny.
Awesome!
Acceptable I guess
Ugh that was a slog
Totally forgot about this album. Super fun
I generally like them as a band, but I'm not in love with the guy's voice or lyrics. The bass player rocks though.
Fun!
I could see why Mike Watt is an influential bass player but this wasn't really my jam.
Will likely go into my regular rotation
Ugh not my thing but I respected it
It was solid.
Pretty solid, reminds me of my dad
I can I can appreciate breaking the rules of music a little bit, but this is a hard NO!
Awesome!!
Not my thing, but I can respect the guitar solos
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I can see how it was a precursor to early '90s female artists. She seemed way before her time.
Didn't realize I liked ZZ top This much. It was just good old Rocky blues. Dad would approve.
Not my thing
Meh
Bjork's voice is really the shining part of this album. Glad she left and started a solo career.
This is likely the best album of all time in my opinion.
Great album. This was one of the first artists that made me fall in love with a female front woman!
The music had potential but I hate the way this lady sings. Or should I say breathes into the microphone.
All right. Not my favorite Floyd for sure
Classic!
I'd like to think I could listen to an album in another language, but this was a hard no for me!
Not my thing
No my favorite PJ Harvey album. But it did remind me how much I love and miss that gritty, dirty 90s sound.
This is my favorite Beck album.
Respect it! Not my favorite though.
I really enjoyed it! War is on my radar now!
No thank you
Classic. Good melding of 90s grungy feel and electricia! Love it
I do like Dylan's lyrics but his voice is still not my favorite.
Really enjoyed this album.
Eh
What was that
I really enjoyed this album. It's not Coltrane or Miles Davis but I found myself in that same vibe with it. I didn't like the dissonance of the way the last track started, but everything else was pretty good. I have to remember this guy going forward.
Way better than the sex pistols. In my opinion, Americans did the punk rock movement right.
Solid!
Everybody seem to love this band in the late 2000s but I never did. And I dislike the guy's voice. And I don't love the synthesizer noises very much. The synthesizers sound like bad video game music and I generally like video game music.
Not bad
No thanks
So I obviously love all "the hits" but I was super stoked about how busy the bass player was. Those baselines really stood out. Especially on New Religion.
I probably would have loved this album had I l listen to it when it came out.
Great album. Top 5 shows I've ever been to. I was not aware the women from Chiba motto were on the album until yesterdays listen!
Actually kind of fun. Weird but I kind of liked it.
This was the first CD I ever bought. Great album, but it's not as good as I remember it being.
I mean it's Hendrix how could you not go wrong?
Probably my favorite album start to finish of all time. Only other possible favorites would be Miles Davis kind of blue which we've already heard And I'm also quite fond of 311's music but I doubt it'll be on this list.
Not bad. Not my cup of tea.
Ugh
So good!
Eh. Me and Julio down by the schoolyard is nostalgic for me because of the tenonbombs soundtrack.
In theory I want to like the Stooges but I just don't.
Fine background music
Not my thing. I can respect her though for sure.
Feels like they're always building to something but it never comes.
Abba is a one hit wonder as far as I am concerned
Pretty good. Didn't realize I would like it so much. I actually recognize many songs.
Good background music
I found the homophobia and misogyny really difficult to take. As well as the violence. I mean he is an amazing rapper and did really change the face of hip hop at the time. But I didn't think it really held up very well. I do really enjoy the self-deprecating songs like come on everybody and role model and as the world turns. Whenever he gets into crazy cartoonish type of stories those are fun!.
Legit one of my favorite albums of all time. When I first saw them in concert I thought I was just taking Jenny to go see a concert that she liked but when I saw them I was blown away. I honestly wasn't sure how they were making all the sounds that they were making on stage. It was amazing. I really enjoy the soft music and then they hit that wall of guitars. You can tell the drummer is an amazing producer as well as a musician. He produced many amazing albums from the 90s including Nevermind.
I totally dug this! I really like the Sly and the Family Stone vibe. I would like to listen to more of his stuff.
In my younger years this type of rule breaking music really got me going. In reflection in my Middle-Aged years, you got to have rules to be able to break them. If it's just breaking rules all the time, it's really kind of a mess. Though I will say generally speaking, I do like Sonic youth. This was not my favorite of their albums for sure. I also love when the female singer sings. I can't remember her name right now. Kim Something. I would give it 3.5 Stars if I could.
She had a very nice voice but it wasn't my thing.
I can respect it but it's not my jam.
So I have to admit I never got past the first five tracks listening to this album back in the day. By the time I got done with the first five tracks I was kind of like. Yeah, I wanted to listen to something else. So this was a new experience for me listening to this album all the way through. And I have to admit it was a little darker than I realized. I generally think it's a cool concept, an album about suicide and I like Andrew's thought about the last song being the note left behind. When I was done with it I listened to the Johnny Cash version of her which I actually like better. Overall, this album was a little bit of a disappointment to me knowing that I love those first five songs. The March of pigs might be one of my favorite hard rock songs of all time.
I liked it. I would like to give it a few more listens.
That was no good.
That was fun to hear. Willie sing some famous songs that aren't his own.
Ugh.
This is what I'm talking about. An artist I have never heard before and it was pretty darn good. I don't know if I would give it 5 stars and put it in "classic" status but it certainly could make it there with a few more listens.
I love this album. This or check your head in my favorite beastie boys album!
I mean it's Hendrix how could it not be five stars. I knew a lot more songs on this album than I realized because I had never listened to it before in its entirety. It was a nice little gem.
I was hopeful that I would like this album because I love the Smiths. But I found the melodies to be lacking and I really felt the lack of the guitar players writing. Morrissey didn't hold it down himself.
Ugh
I should like this album because I generally like this electronica type music but it was rather unremarkable. There were only two songs that I was like, "Oh, I like this." The rest felt like elevator music.
