Knew the singles from back in the day, had not heard the full LP beforehand. It's interesting, cause before today Clint Eastwood was the highlight, but Rock The House took the spot today from today. The ending track was annoying.

There are nice elements in this album(specially the backing vocals) , but the reverb at some points is too much for my liking. Maybe it would've been revelating to listen when it was released, but as it is right now it's just a palate cleanser

I feel like in the one listen I had it has something to offer but I just can't relate to it. I liked some songs on the first listen but it was more subdued than what I'd want to. And that's fine, but just not for me to listen in a full album.

I'd say that it's a pretty unremarkable album, one that has been lost in time to the wayside of better artists, it has good instrumentation, but I feel like it has a Morrissey wannabe without having the lyrical prowess of Moz. However it does not have the magic of Marr too.
Bongos to fill up the sound at times was a good decision. Having synth sax was not, do the real thing.

The La's
Influential indie rock album from the UK that inspired the mid 90s britpop scene well crafted pop songs, Looking Glass has nice lyrics but the length is not justified. Nice tempo change to finish, impressive drummer to not let it out of control. I had heard this album years ago and while the singles are the strongest of the bunch(There she goes, Feelin) it is a consistent listen. Maybe someone shouldve said Lee Mavers(lead singer/acoustic guitar) to not strum as hard as he did. But maybe that's part of the charm of the band.

Parachutes
Coldplay
Jeff Buckley inspired a lot of UK singers to do soulful falsetto (famously Thom Yorke left a Buckley in tears to complete Fake Plastic Trees), Travis was another big band from the era that have kuddos to the great Jeff. Muse too were inspired by the american singersongwriter(Matt Belamy bought Buckley's telecaster 3 years ago)
Parachutes is a perfect autumn/winter time album, from the soft landing Don't Panic to the euphoric chorus of Everything's not Lost this is a band that began their way following the steps of their peers, but found more success than the rest. Imagine writing a single about the yellow pages and it becomes the signature song of your band instead of the intended single (Shiver a song about not being noticed, life finds a way to make jokes sometimes).
I tried to learn some of the songs in acoustic guitar, but Chris Martin loves tuning the guitars in weird ways(at least true for this album). While I don't like what the band became after Viva La Vida this is an stunning debut. 7/10 Shiver should've been more popular than what it was.

I am listening for the second time the album just to confirm my feelings, something I havent felt the need on any of the albums beforehand.
In The Flowers is a strong opener, but I dont feel the payoff I expected, the drums are nice.
Also Frightened sounds like band was drunk while recording the vocals, or the layering makes me feel like I'm stumbling in a boat.
I feel like this album is like an Onion, I just need to keep peeling the layers before I can get it.
Daily Routine has a riff after a bit of singing that sounds annoying to me.
22:49 I feel annoyed(this is the bit where the riff is at the forefront) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmmHQpjR8LY (LP rip of the album)
Guys Eyes pulls me back in for a little bit.
This is my first experience listening to AC, so it's not something that spoke to me in my first or second listens, it is impressive technically speaking, but https://x.com/soocayne/status/1227436682707980290

The Modern Lovers
I am Straight sounds like Marcy Playground, earlier cuts sound like a hybrid of The Doors and VU, it could've been more influential if it was released in 1972 instead of 76. The group that recorded this album went to greener pastures. How strange is that Mr Cale released a cover of Pablo Picasso before the band had their album out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nf5aOrL3sc
Other than that, it did not move me.

Germs
This is an influential work that paved the way for hardcore punk, but at times the bass and drums felt out of place, the snarl of Darby led to some lyrics being unintelligible, he was the star of the show when it was clearer, but that's wasn't always the case. Pat Smear plays some interesting stuff in the album. And the final song feels unnecesary long for what it was.
But who says you need to be proficient to be good in music? It might not be the most technically gifted group or the best engineering work, and that's what it gives it a character that pop-punk post 90's does not have. 5/10
It won't join my listening playlist but I respect it for what it is, a group channeling chaos

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Elton John
Incredible stuff from Elton, Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding took off at the 3rd minute of the song and it doesnt really takes a breath until Jamaica Jerk-off. Incredible album that its near perfection for example the fake crowd in Bennie and The Jets, the lyrical matter of Jamaican Jerkoff, why is the bass drum that loud in I've Seen That Movie Too?
( https://imgur.com/FbXI0Vo comment from the Youtube upload of that track) after the rest of the instruments get louder it is less noticeable
Of the deepcuts that I didnt know Grey Seal stood out as a highlight of the album alongside Bennie and The Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)

Songs For Swingin' Lovers!
Frank Sinatra
It's crazy how technology has changed the ways music was recorded, back in the 50's it was set up so the live performance was recorded in studio without overdubs just like the band would do so in a concert hall, if someone made a mistake a take just wouldn't be good enough to be released. In just over 10 years Beach Boys and Beatles would go on to record some incredible albums compared to what was before.
Crazy that an album like this(with so many studio session musicians) could only be made nowadays by a major label artist, maybe for the better(?)
I've got you under my skin had 22 takes(not all of them were of the full song) before Sinatra was satisfied with his performance, what a bad luck for the trombone player.

The Marshall Mathers LP
Eminem
The singles of this album were part of my childhood and early teens (TRL/MTV era) got into the album, knowing pretty well that this project had more than questionable lyrics, but that 1-2 punch of Kill You and Stan is so great that it is almost forgivable. If only the second half of the album didn't feel so damn dragging. Ken Kaniff is one skit too much on a 70+ minute album. Kinda wished that this album came after License to Ill instead of Sinatra in between them. 7/10
Whoever told Em to write The Way I Am and Real Slim Shady after delivering the first draft of the album was the MVP of the project

Bob Dylan
This album is relevant to the list, if I had a complaint is that the harmonica is a tiny bit too loud, maybe mic it better or find some studio musician like the rest of the band, but maybe that's a bit of the charm of Dylan, true perfection can't be perfect.
I'd rather listen to an artist cover Dylan, but he's a main player of what came after 1965 so I'll pay him some respect by saying that he was a notch ahead of his peers on the lyrical matters. Maybe put down the harmonica for a while, for the better.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
David Bowie
Bowie is a enigma to me, changing the way he sounded with the different records he made, Ziggy Stardust was the start of his chameleon era where he would make characthers for every album.
Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust starts with a strong 1-2-3-4 combo and while the middle falters a bit it ends as strong as it begun. Fuck it, I'm giving it a 4.5/5 rounded up to 5 Stars

Radiohead
Radiohead was in a weird spot in their young trajectory when it came to record OK Computer, they had two choices either go pop with material like Lift that only got live outings in the bends tour before being tossed aside, I think the band took the right choice on doing something that was unique for its time, but gave an entry point for Coldplay
What can be said about Ok Computer that hasnt been said? I like how it ends with a slow down idiot and starts with a car crash it gives it an element of replayability that is a stroke of genious.

Every track had me second guessing where will the next turnaround will happen? It's a amazing record of great songs, maybe if Laura was willing to play the game it would've been more recognizable, but as it is it's a great surprise to find if you search for your favourite songwriter's favourite songwriter.

Follows the lineage of british pop/rock music of the 90's and early 2000's, where Radiohead, Oasis and Coldplay were kings while being distinct from eachother, the twist is that instead of shakers seen in Paranoid Android, they used the cuica and the clarinet.
In theory it should be up my alley, but it feels like a second grade replacement, I would like instead the real thing(is FNM in the list?) please. 5/10

Breathtaking, the more I hear about Jeff the more I wish he didn't take that swim on the Mississippi river. His angelic voice is what most people notice, but the guitar playing on this album is top notch, amazing songwriting.
