Popular Reviews

Paranoid by Black Sabbath

Perfect timing to pay homage to the Prince of Darkness. Excellent album đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ!

Bad by Michael Jackson

An excellent soundtrack to this morning’s kitchen dancing! Different class to a lot of the albums that appear on here. Crazy for one album to have that many number one singles.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan

Once again, harmonica enthusiasts rejoice.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention

Really enjoyable album and fresh sounding despite being over 50 years old, Reynardine in particular wouldn’t sound out of place on the BBC Introducing stage. Very good!

BEYONCÉ by BeyoncĂ©

And the award for the most overrated R&B artist goes to

Jan 25 2025

Good mix of both melancholy and theatrical, ‘big production’ upbeat songs. Would be great live!

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Jan 26 2025

Timeless đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ Loved it, easy listening even with two kids in the background telling me I have terrible taste in music

Blackstar by David Bowie
Jan 27 2025

Ruined my day. Made me temporarily fall out of love with music.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Jan 29 2025

Meh. Would have been quite content never listening to this album. 2 stars given for the noughties indie club scene nostalgia that Blue Orchid and My Doorbell bring.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Jan 30 2025

Psychedelic man âœŒđŸŒ. Can only imagine how this would have landed with ‘the squares’ in 1966!

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Jan 31 2025

Whimsical. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Feb 02 2025

Classic 80’s sound, budget Peter Gabriel.

For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
Feb 03 2025

Sounds very ahead of it’s time. Would definitely listen to, and enjoy, again!

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Feb 04 2025

You know you’re in safe hands with Crosby, Stills & Nash. Polished, great songwriting and lovely harmonies.

Spiderland by Slint
Feb 06 2025

Perfect listening for a 15 year high schooler that’s just been dumped by his girlfriend.

Opus Dei by Laibach
Feb 07 2025

Like nothing I’ve ever heard or would choose to hear again.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Feb 09 2025

Would never think to put on Eric Clapton but I loved it
perfect mix of rock and blues.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Feb 10 2025

Really enjoyable album and fresh sounding despite being over 50 years old, Reynardine in particular wouldn’t sound out of place on the BBC Introducing stage. Very good!

Dog Man Star by Suede
Feb 12 2025

Cool album, not gimmicky like some 90’s Brit pop bands.

In Utero by Nirvana
Feb 15 2025

Heart-Shaped Box is not only my favourite Nirvana song but one of my all time favourites in general. Alongside Dumb, Rape Me and All Apologies. This album is up there with the best. Easy 5 from me!

Movies by Holger Czukay
Feb 20 2025
Faith by George Michael
Feb 21 2025
Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Feb 25 2025

Don’t believe the hype. ‘Fight the Power’ is the only redeeming song on this album.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Feb 26 2025

Once again, harmonica enthusiasts rejoice.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Feb 27 2025

I felt personally victimised by the last track.

m b v by My Bloody Valentine
Feb 28 2025
Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Mar 01 2025

A musical hug. You’d have to be soulless if ‘Me and Julio down by the schoolyard’ didn’t put a smile on your face!

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Mar 05 2025
Entertainment by Gang Of Four
Mar 06 2025

Awful
the only positive was that I got to watch a sexy man build flat pack furniture whilst listening.

Aja by Steely Dan
Mar 10 2025
Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Mar 13 2025

Gnarly riffs after gnarly riffs
not for everyone
but absolutely for me!

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Mar 28 2025

Love Nina but I wasn’t a huge fan of this album. Felt a bit drab towards the end.

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Jul 15 2025

Not a fan of live albums but you have to make an exception for Folsom Prison!

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jul 19 2025

Not really listened to Neil Young before, really enjoyed! Nicely soothed a mundane car journey.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jul 20 2025

Eye rolled when I saw another White Stripes album but was soon toe-tapping and enjoying it. Surprising 3.

Synchronicity by The Police
Jul 22 2025

I did question the cohesion between tracks particularly after the whiplash I sustained listening to the trauma dumping ‘Mother’, straight into the jovial ‘Miss Grandenko’. But all is absolutely forgiven when every track is that good. Nicely wrapped up by, in my opinion, the best track on the album ‘Murder by numbers’.

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Jul 23 2025

At first you think this is just going to be shit truck driver music
.and then a mere 1.5hrs later you have this confirmed.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Perfect timing to pay homage to the Prince of Darkness. Excellent album đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ!

Illmatic by Nas
Jul 27 2025

Strong contender for the best hip hop album of all time. Compared to other hip hop artists at that time, this album doesn’t rely on any thrills or backing samples just dark, gritty lyrics that you stop and listen to.

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jul 28 2025

Oh this was not good. Highly irritating.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Jul 29 2025

An excellent soundtrack to this morning’s kitchen dancing! Different class to a lot of the albums that appear on here. Crazy for one album to have that many number one singles.

Ramones by Ramones
Aug 02 2025

Ah the Ramones, a band adored by 2-13yr old girls
according to H&M. Loved it, woke me up and set me up for a sunny Saturday! Also, a 29 minute album?! Quite the treat amongst some of these endurances. Solid 4.

Aug 07 2025

I got outnumbered and the kids requested “Ghostbusters” 5 tracks in and to be honest, I was quite relieved.

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Aug 08 2025

The curator(s) of this sure love a live album. Please stop it.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Aug 10 2025

One of a kind. Phenomenal album.

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Aug 11 2025

No idea what to expect but actually really loved this.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Aug 13 2025

Any album that features an organ scores points with me. Did it sound like one 43 minute song, yes. Did I like it, also yes.

Dookie by Green Day
Aug 16 2025
Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Aug 17 2025

Broke up the last leg of a 4hr journey, thoroughly enjoyable!
