Funky college music grove - a little too one flavor for me tho.

Raw but with a lot of hooks and great energy

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Dec 02 2025

So - most songs sound very similar to their big hit, "Come On Eileen" but that's mostly do to the unique vocalization and instrumental makeup of the band. "Old" was different and I liked it.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Dec 03 2025

Amazing that this is just three dudes! They have so much range and can create completely different vibes from song to song. I'd forgotten how much talent they have. Really enjoying this walk down memory lane.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Dec 04 2025

I can see the appeal, cool concept of a party in progress. Would probably like this a little more if I was sippin on gin and juice.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Dec 05 2025

Hard rocking and not very deep... but a good vibe overall. Spent many hours listening to this after it came out and remember getting pumped up by most of the songs. It hits different decades later. Less straight up rock, more posturing and pretentious. I can still sing along but don't feel much for it anymore.

1999 by Prince
Dec 08 2025

Prince is a genre unto himself... but I thought this album would hold up better than it did for me. Love the first two songs (1999 and Little Red Corvette) but couldn't really get into any others.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Dec 09 2025

Never heard of this guy... really liking the vibe. Feels like a male Sade. Could see vibing to this again.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
Dec 10 2025

I bopped along with every song and really enjoyed the simplicity of the lyrics and music. Hit me as a fun time the whole way through.

En-Tact by The Shamen
Dec 11 2025

Liked the club sound - not earth shattering but very consumable.

Document by R.E.M.
Dec 12 2025

Every song on this is iconic and defined R.E.M. as a band to pay attention to! This album got me through an entire summer.

Dec 15 2025

Not as compelling as I thought this would be... I think they made a bigger impact with later albums.

Diamond Life by Sade
Dec 16 2025

Smooth and perfect, just like the first time I heard it back in the day!

Transformer by Lou Reed
Dec 17 2025

Sublime - unpolished and often straying into performance art... but undeniably catchy and connecting in unexpected ways.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Dec 18 2025

Really held up well - enjoyed almost all of it.

American Gothic by David Ackles
Dec 19 2025

I had never heard of him before... I can see why he made an impact but I couldn't really get into his music.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Dec 22 2025

pretty solid sound and you can hear the roots of the song, Everybody wants to rule the world in these tunes.

Dec 23 2025

Love Queen but never heard this album before - it's great.

The Visitors by ABBA
Dec 24 2025

Master song craft - and even when I didn't know the song... I knew the sound.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Dec 29 2025

Excellent - had only heard two of these songs but they are all really intricate and so well crafted.

Boston by Boston
Dec 30 2025

Almost every song was a hit - what a strong first album!

Live! by Fela Kuti
Dec 31 2025

Great groove - had heard of the artist but never heard the album.

Jan 02 2026

Techno - but with tons of repetition and found sound.

Low by David Bowie
Jan 05 2026

A few cool moments, but really not Bowie's best.

Abraxas by Santana
Jan 06 2026

Enjoyed the groove but felt a sense of sameness from song to song.

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Jan 07 2026

Nice African groove - not really my thang tho

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jan 09 2026

Loved it when I first heard it and still love it today - the sense of play and whimsy, combined with strong melody makes this the best Bowie album in my opinion.

Take Me Apart by Kelela
Jan 14 2026

Nice but not much grabbed me

Fromohio by fIREHOSE
Jan 15 2026

Hadn’t heard of them but liked it. Late eighties, early nineties indie sound with some solid writing. Could have easily played this in college radio at the time.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jan 16 2026

Solid 90s rock

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jan 20 2026

My wife loves the Smiths, so I have heard all of these songs before, but had never listened to the album as a single experience. It's pretty good. I'm not into them but really liked the variety and innovation it shows.
