1001 Albums Summary

I have listened to this album multiple times before this suggestion. I really like Simon & Garfunkel to listen to while working, cooking, puzzling, etc.

Great CD, listened to it I would guess 30+ times

okay background music, reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen. Their biggest song is okay but the CD is very similar style throughout and not really my vibe

Good songs are great, rest are forgettable

Love the energy and feel like this album pushed many boundaries when it came out. Not all songs were winners and it was fairly long

Not for me, very modern sounding for 2014 and it sounds like the whole album was done by one person on a laptop

Way ahead of its time, some really good songs mixed in and I really like how songs jump between genres of punk, grunge, and some ska/reggae.

Agree with review that the songs are more complex than the other music coming out in the mid-1970s. Can hear elements of alternative music in the songs which is a step in that direction, but on the early edge of things. Not a huge fan, but I recognize it was likely very different when it came out.

I appreciate how different this sounds and I am sure it was considered a very unique at the time. The idea of using dance beats for rap songs is also pretty cool which is way ahead of its time. At the same time I hate it.

Pleasant background music. I thought it sounded like it could be a video game soundtrack and the artist made multiple soundtracks before this album. It is somewhat repetitive and kinda boring, but I am sure it was revolutionary at the time.

Not great work music, somewhat repetitive

This is a slower style of Alternative that is less "punk" and not my favorite, but I see how this was pushing rock music forward at the time. Some good songs, but they blend together as there is a similar sound throughout the album.

Breathy rock, some what grungy. The top song from the CD is a nice change of pace in a playlist and catchy. This feels like an inspiration for Sufjan and other indie artists which came out in the early 2000s

Music is all over the place. Relax is a good song, but this album has some odd covers and is not cohesive from front to back.

Nice to listen through the full album. Enjoy their harmonies, a few really good songs

Not a fan of the music and not sure why. There is mixing sounds of Beatles style mixed with 80s power ballads. Music feels loud but none of the songs jumped out to me personally

The blues/roots mixed with Electronica is unique, multiple songs are 10 second segments repeated with different backgrounds and feels to me repetitive

I like the mix of instrumental music between the songs, but this CD I think falls flat more than I want. Maybe it is because I was listening to it in the gym, but the songs were slow and none of them jumped out to me as highlights when I finished the album.

I am learning that I am a fan of this old country music style. Never heard of this musician but enjoyable cd to listen through.

Enjoyed the album, nice mix of driving driving beats and Brazilian dance music mixed with "rhythmic groove", had no expectations and was impressed

Very Indie sounding album and probably unique for 1969. I find it forgettable with no songs really standing out.

Great Blues Album

Classic Frank Sinatra album, some individual great songs, but I think this style is repetitive

I sorta get it, but the slow R&B, echo rap singing is not for me. Cool for SZA to break through as a woman but difficult for me to get through the album

I do enjoy instrumental/experimental CDs. Very Jazzy and enjoyable to listen to, unique compared to other albums I have gotten lately

Pretty good, I expect Bowie albums to be great. I think my opinion is clouded by my expectations, I will need to relisten in the future.

Glam Rock is unique and not really my favorite. The sultry talk singing can work with rhythmic rock behind it, but I dont think this style translates well to modern day. I hear how this is foundational for the continued push of music forward through the 70s and 80s

Never listened to the album and loved it. Couple of catchy driving songs, mixed with a few slow melodic others that have the band's unique sound.

Nice to listen to, but disjointed album as the songs do not have consistent structure.

Fun Bossa Nova album, not a lot stands out but this style has its place

I had medium expectations, and this did not meet it. Album is a hodge podge of style and sounds. I get that it is unique, but feels all over the place

Better than other Beck albums, I am surprised I find it so boring

Fun and energetic, soul/funk with I feel like some disco style beats on some songs. I dont love it, but can understand why this was influential when it came out in the late 60s

I am not a huge Nirvana fan, nor do I love live CDs. The band sounds great, it just isnt my style

hugely influential for the time it came out, some of the style feels a bit over the top today, but I think the CD holds up very well

Can hear that this CD influenced a lot of later music, but is very raw at this point in 1979

The song Respect increases the rating

Super unique, I love the concept and this album is truly different from anything else I have heard so far. I wish the vocals were cleaner and the songs were more structured as I think they were all ballads that were quite long.
